5 things I love about Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

WL

Disney’s Wilderness Lodge is a popular, deluxe resort at Walt Disney World. Since it opened in 1994, guests have been enjoying this adventurous yet noble resort and all of its offerings. While there is a lot to see, do, and appreciate about Wilderness Lodge, check out my top 5 best things about this fantastic Disney resort!

1. Theme – Part of Wilderness Lodge’s appeal is its Pacific Northwest theme. When  you stay or visit Wilderness Lodge, you truly feel as if you have left central Florida for a retreat at one of our nation’s national parks. It’s like two vacations in one! Where else can you experience the wonders of the West in comfort and luxury with a Disney twist!

2. Price – While Wilderness Lodge is a deluxe resort with close proximity to the Magic Kingdom, it typically runs cheaper than the majority of other deluxe resorts. Part of the reason for this is because Wilderness Lodge does not provide monorail transportation and the rooms are smaller in comparison to other deluxe rooms. However, for guests and families on a budget, this resort is a little more economical while still offering the deluxe experience and its benefits.

Disney Dream Series Continues with Taylor Swift

alr791872SMALL

Who better to represent Rapunzel than Taylor Swift, who actually has the long golden hair…maybe not this long, but close! This is one of the continuing series portraits of the Disney Dream Series by Annie Leibovitz. Legendary photographer Annie Leibovitz has been creating portraits of celebrities as Disney characters for the past year, think Russell Brand as Captain Hook or Jack Black, Will Ferrell and Jason Segel star as Phineas, Ezra and Gus, you may know them as the Hitchhiking Ghosts.

The latest in the Disney Dream series with Taylor Swift is one of the most romantic and dreamy of the series don’t you think? If you want to see this in print check out upcoming issues of Vanity FairInStyle and People.

Hey there guys and gals Anonymouse here. I have been looking high and low for some gossip today and not only have I found a tidbit of new information but I think it will help answer some questions that I don’t think Chip could.

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts  are always looking for ways to take what they do and do it even better. In the coming months they will be testing and rolling out a collection of tools at the Walt Disney World Resort called Disney’s My Magic+ that will give Guests more opportunities to customize and personalize your entire visit.

The Mickey Check makes it even easier to identify healthier food options in all of the Disney theme parks and resorts.

Disney CEO Bob Iger Had A Very Good 2012

BobIger

2012 was a very very good year for Bob Iger.  Iger got a 18 percent to his pay package last year that boosted him to $37.1 Million as the company posted record revenue, net income and earnings per share.

The Walt Disney Co. also credited Iger’s leadership in the $4.06 billion acquisition of “Star Wars” creator Lucasfilms, along with the launch of theme park additions, cruise ships and the expansion of the Disney Channel overseas.

Iger, 61, saw the biggest jump in pay from the value of new stock option awards, which hit $7.8 million in 2012, up from $4.8 million in 2011, according to a regulatory filing Friday. Stock award grants valued at $9.5 million were above the $8.1 million he received a year earlier.

He also received incentive pay of $16.5 million, up from $15.5 million, while his salary rose to $2.5 million from $2 million. Other compensation for security and personal air travel came to $800,700, down from $962,932 a year earlier.

The Walt Disney Company as a whole grew revenue 3 percent to $42.3 billion for the fiscal year through September. Net income rose 18 percent to $5.7 billion, while earnings per share grew 24 percent to $3.13.

Iger’s contract with The Walt Disney Company runs through the end of June 2016.

Magic Kingdom Snack Attack – So Many Snacks, So Little Time!

CinnRoll

Disney World is known for many things, one of those being their FOOD – they have consistently served up a huge variety of freshly prepared food that uses the best ingredients, oh, and it also TASTES great too! But there is more to Disney Dining than just breakfast, lunch and dinner! There are all those hours in-between meals, that can (and should!) be spent sampling some of the many great snacks that WDW has to offer, and the Magic Kingdom’s snack offering are (in my opinion) some of the best out there!

There are SO MANY places to get snacks at the Magic Kingdom that I could write a whole book about it! Hmm…there’s an idea…but for now, if you want a full list of where you can get your grub on while in the Magic Kingdom, Click Here!

And of course, with the opening of the New Fantasyland comes even more treats and snacks! Those worth trying include the pork shanks and cinnamon rolls at Gaston’s Tavern, and the caramel popcorn available at Big Top Treats!

So where should you go when you find yourself in the Magic Kingdom with an empty rumbling stomach? Well personally, I prefer these snack spots:

Main Street Bakery – located right on Main Street, this is a popular spot largely because of the amazing smells that are usually wafting out of it – cakes, danish, cupcakes, brownies, muffins, turnovers, croissants, plus many more amazing smelling (and equally as delicious tasting!) treats are available here. It’s a great place to grab a quick breakfast, as they serve assorted pastries as well as breakfast sandwiches, fruit, juices, and coffee. The line tends to be pretty long, but it usually moves pretty quickly and before you know it you are enjoying your treats (plural, because who can pick just one?). Beginning early this summer, the Bakery will also feature Starbucks drinks and treats, an added bonus for those coffee lovers out there!

Escape from Tomorrow Filmed Entirely In Secret At Disney World Makes Waves At Sundance

escape-from-tomorrow-1

There is a buzz at the Sundance Film Festival but not about a Disney film…but rather a film that was secretly shot at Disney.  The film “Escape from Tomorrow” was filmed over 25 days at Walt Disney World and Disneyland without the knowledge or consent of The Walt Disney Company.

The film was directed by Randy Moore and features actor Roy Abramsohn who plays a down on his luck father touring the park with his wife and children.  His relationship with his wife is strained, and after he gets news on the last day of his vacation that he has been fired from his job, he begins to start fantasizing and following a couple French-speaking teenage girls, experiencing delusions around the park.
