ABC Orders Four Pilots From It’s Own Studio

big thunder

ABC has ordered four drama pilots, including “Big Thunder,” based on the popular attraction at Disneyland & Walt Disney World, as well as a gothic soap from producer Mark Gordon.  All four pilots are being produced inhouse by ABC Studios.

“Big Thunder” will be written by Jason Fuchs and exec produced by Chris Morgan.

The storyline for “Big Thunder”  is about a 19th century New York doctor and his family who are given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to relocate to a frontier mining town run by a powerful but mysterious tycoon. Soon, they quickly realize that not everything in Big Thunder is as it seems.

ABC and it’s owner Disney have collaborated on theme-park projects in the past. “The Pirates of Caribbean” has been a wildly successful film franchise, while the Eddie Murphy film”The Haunted Mansion” was a bust.

Big Thunder Mountain at Disneyland opened in 1979 and is getting a $4 million renovation this year.  Big Thunder Mountain at Walt Disney World is undergoing a renovation of it’s queue to make it more interactive.

Show Your Love With These Disney Themed Gifts

RomanticMickeyMinnie

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and love is in the air! For some of us, that panic might be setting in about “what gift do I get my wife/husband/boyfriend/girlfriend/fiance?” If your significant other happens to be a Disney lover, then you’re in luck!

Here are some great Disney Theme Gift Ideas:

Photo Gifts: Put together a Disney Scrapbook full of Disney trip pictures, old Fastpasses, and other trinkets you’ve picked up along the way! Disney scrapbooking supplies can be found at most local craft store chains, and this is a gift you can really personalize and make unique. Should you not be the crafty scrapbooking type, fear not – you can always make a photo album or even just a framed Disney trip photo would make a perfect gift – and you can even order some Disney Frames or Albums straight from the Mouse himself

Disney Eats: Disney Food is the best, no doubt about that! Luckily there are ways you can recreate some of that deliciousness at home – like by recreating your significant others favorite Disney restaurant meal using recipes from a Disney Cookbook. If none of those look appetizing or you don’t have time to order the book, then make use of that Mickey Mouse cookie cutter you bought last time you were at Disney World and whip up your honey’s favorite cookie recipe. Don’t have a Mickey cookie cutter? Then freehand some Mickey shaped pancakes for a breakfast that is sure to make them smile (the best thing about the pancakes is you can eat your misshapen ‘mistakes’ along the way)

Hero’s Welcome for Baltimore Ravens Quarterback Joe Flacco, MVP of Super Bowl XLVII, at Walt Disney World Resort

falco

Fresh from his team’s 34-31 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco made good on his “I’m Going to Disney World” proclamation by quarterbacking a gala celebration Monday at Walt Disney World Resort.

Smiling and waving from a red convertible alongside Mickey Mouse in the shadow of Cinderella Castle, Flacco – named the game’s Most Valuable Player — greeted cheering Magic Kingdom guests along a parade route lined with colorful red, white and blue balloons. Cheerleaders, Disney characters in football gear and a Florida blizzard – of confetti — completed the festive scene as Flacco quarterbacked another drive, this time down Main Street, U.S.A.

Flacco was one of the game’s standout players, firing three first-half touchdown strikes en route to 287 total passing yards. It capped a remarkable post-season in which Flacco connected on 11 TD passes, throwing no interceptions.

His “I’m Going to Disney World” – anchoring one of TV’s most enduring and iconic Super Bowl commercials – was captured seconds after the final whistle Sunday night. A produced commercial from that moment aired on networks just hours before Flacco’s appearance at the Magic Kingdom.

“Through their efforts, Disney VoluntEARS are not only lending a hand to preserve Florida’s natural beauty, they’re also making the beaches cleaner for Central Florida beachgoers,” said Nancy Gidusko, director of community relations for Walt Disney World Resort. “Over the past nineteen years Disney VoluntEARS have been involved in numerous cleanup projects, collecting over 40,000 pounds of trash and debris, enabling them to combine their passion for the environment with their commitment to the community.”

Top 10 Tips for Planning Your Meals at Walt Disney World

dino

Our readers have Dining questions all the time.  When is the best time to eat?  Quick Service or Table Service?  Dining Plan or No?  Ask ten people how they eat when they are at Walt Disney World and you will get twelve different answers!  It all depends on how you like to do things at the parks.   I’m going to give you a rundown of how we plan our meals at Walt Disney World with two kids.

1. Disney Dining Plan:  We always do the Disney Dining Plan (especially when it’s free).  There are debates on whether you are saving money, but we like the convenience.  I like being able to budget most of my expenses ahead of time.  Children under 3 are not required to purchase a Dining Plan, so they can eat off of your plate.  There is so much food, this is never an issue.

2.  Plan your Advance Dining Reservations.  Yup, we love to eat at Disney and have our favorite places to go.  So after consulting TouringPlans.com for their crowd calendar, we decide which days we will be at which park.  Then we map out our Advance Dinning Reservations (ADR’s).  With the dining plan you get one Table Service, one Quick Service and one Snack per person, per night of stay.  You can use in any order or combination and we do!

3. Bang for Your Buck: If you are using the Disney Dining Plan, get the most out of your money. Plan character meals, which are often very expensive. Check out the menu’s ahead of time and make sure you go somewhere special, that you might not go to otherwise. If you are looking to do Le Cellier for a romantic evening, or Cinderella’s Royal Table for your Princess, plan on 2 Table Service Credits.

Baltimore Ravens Quarterback Joe Flacco “Going to Disney World” to Celebrate Super Bowl XLVII Victory

rav

In this city rich in traditions, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco on Sunday shouted five words ingrained in the traditions of American pop culture following the Ravens’ 34-31 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII.

“I’m Going to Disney World!” beamed Flacco into the cameras as confetti rained down from the rafters of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Flacco’s pronouncement, part of the production for one of TV’s most enduring and iconic Super Bowl commercials, was captured within seconds of the final whistle. His team’s victory kept the Ravens unbeaten in Super Bowl play at 2-0. Flacco was named the game’s Most Valuable Player.

Completing a Cinderella season in which he had career highs in passing and completions, Flacco was a standout in Super Bowl XLVII, amassing 287 yards passing, including three first-half touchdowns.

On Monday, Flacco is scheduled to participate in a parade at the place where families create lasting vacation memories – Walt Disney World Resort near Orlando, Fla. For Flacco and Ravens fans, celebrating the team’s victory at Magic Kingdom is the perfect way to spend some “Disney Time,” when family, friends and favorite characters can help create even more magical memories for Flacco and fans who share in the limited-time “I’m Going to Disney World” moment that has a worldwide following.

Flacco’s declaration becomes the 26th Super Bowl commercial in the Disney series that began in 1987 following Super Bowl XXI. The first “I’m Going to Disney World” commercial featuring New York Giants quarterback Phil Simms was considered a groundbreaking concept – a produced commercial involving a current event, airing on major networks within hours of its conclusion. Flacco joins an all-star lineup of heroes from sports and beyond who have celebrated milestone accomplishments in “I’m Going to Disney World” commercials.
