Is There Fishing at Walt Disney World?

fishing World Showcase

Call me crazy (you have before!), but I like downtime at Walt Disney World. I didn’t used to be that way. The first few times my family visited Walt Disney World, we pushed ourselves to the limits, trying to do everything we possibly could. Every moment that wasn’t spent sleeping was devoted to park time. And it led to many miserable days—we refer to them as Grumpy days—when everyone’s on edge and the Disney magic is more annoying than it is uplifting. That’s when we started searching out some hidden ways to get the Disney experience without wearing ourselves thin. What we discovered is that at Walt Disney World, even the mundane is pixie-dusted.

Did you know there are fishin’ holes on property? Grab your rod and reel (or rent them on site) and kick up your heels for some old-fashioned, dockside fishing in the well-stocked waters of Fort Wilderness Campgrounds & Cabins (at the Bike Barn) or do some cane-pole fishing at Port Orleans Riverside’s Old Man Island. If that’s a little too down downtime and it just doesn’t reel you in, you can venture out on the water for a guided excursion.

Walt Disney World Guests can experience bass fishing at its finest all year round with guided fishing excursions on Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon, Village Lake, Crescent Lake, and World Showcase Lagoon. Whether you’re a veteran angler or an amateur hobbyist, you’ll enjoy these options. Choose from Guided Bass Fishing on a 21-foot Tracker pontoon with up to five Guests and Bass Nitro Fishing on a Nitro Bass boat for one or two people. Two- and four-hour excursions are offered, and when available, an extra hour may be added at the Marina. Solo fishermen may book an afternoon excursion at a reduced rate.

Fishing excursions are available at:

The Disney Heroes Award: Honoring Employees Who Save Lives

ha

Emergency preparedness and safety are highly valued here at Disney, so much so that a special award — the Disney Heroes Award — was introduced to recognize employees who save a life or prevent serious injuries.

The five-year-old program was established to commend heroic acts performed by Disney employees in and outside of the workplace. Any employee from across The Walt Disney Company can submit a nomination on behalf of a colleague who performs a life-saving act, whether it’s clearing the airway of a choking victim or reporting a life-threatening security issue to authorities. Since the program launched, more than 100 Disney Heroes Awards have been awarded to teams and employees around the world — from Tokyo to Germany and in the U.S.

Easter Egg Fun with Disney’s Spoonful.com

Egg Group 1

While Christmas is the favorite holiday for many families, at my house, Easter is the winner. We love everything about it-  new flowers, baby animals, coloring Easter eggs, and chocolate! To celebrate our favorite holiday and springtime’s arrival we decided to add a little Disney touch to Easter and create some of the fun Easter eggs on Disney’s Spoonful.com. After all, if there’s anything better than a basket full of Easter eggs, it’s an Easter basket full of Disney Easter eggs!

We chose to make 8 of our favorite Disney friends into Easter eggs. The supplies needed were mostly items that we already had on hand or were easily found at our local store.

Easter Celebration at Disney Parks Includes Limited Time Magic Surprises

Easter Celebration at Disney World

There’s a special week long Easter celebration planned for you as part of “Limited Time Magic” at the Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort. And today, we have a peek at what to expect beginning on Monday.

From March 23-31, Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny will greet guests at Magic Kingdom Park at Bunny Lane (located next to City Hall) at the Walt Disney World Resort. The pair will also join butterflies, flowers and dancing hippos for an Easter procession down Main Street, U.S.A.

Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny will be hopping over to Epcot to greet guests in the United Kingdom Pavilion, where egg hunts will be held throughout the day. And if finding eggs is a family favorite, Easter egg hunts will also be held each day in Future World East.

Things get hopping at Disneyland park as well on Monday, when the Easter Bunny stops by to greet guests in Town Square. Each day, the Easter Bunny will join some of his long-eared Disney friends, along with the Dapper Dans and Mickey and Minnie Mouse, for a Bunny Hop dance on Main Street, U.S.A.

At Disney California Adventure park, Russell and Dug have hidden oversized Easter eggs throughout Redwood Creek Challenge Trail for a Wilderness Explorer Egg Hunt. Track them down, follow the clues and solve the puzzle to earn your very own Spring Egg-tivity Badge.

Let us know if you’ll be joining us for the celebration next week.

Wishing you Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust

Two Great Comedies in One Combo Pack Comes to Blu-ray this Summer

EmperorsNewGrooveANDKronksNewGroove2MovieCollection

I am looking forward to laughing on June 11th when these two new “hilarious” comedies come in to my home to review on Blu-ray. This 2 movie collection comes with both “The Emperor’s New Groove” and “Kronk’s New Groove” so you get double the fun. I have never seen either of these movies which makes it even more fun to see the unexpected little comedy comments, double meanings that Disney is famous for putting in their movies.

The 3-disc Blu-ray Combo Pack includes both feature films on a single Blu-ray disc plus each film on individual DVDs. Disney has packed it with their cast of voices/characters with David Spade leading the group as the voice of Emperor Kuzco, John Goodman as Pasha, Eartha Kitt as Yzma and all three of these are play these voices in both films. There will be even more recognized voices for you to distinguish but you need to watch (or listen) to find out more!

One great move Disney made with these movies is having Sting provide the Original Song. It was such a great song it actually was nominated for an Academy Award in 2000.

Who is Building and Paying for the Parking Garages at Downtown Disney?

disneyconfidential2

Hello everyone! What a lovely Spring Day and Hello to all the Anonymouse fans in my fandom!  My fandom is ruled by the fair and honest ruler Chimp Chip. He rules the fandom and I rule the rumors and gossip…it is a equal partnership or so he tells me.

As Downtown Disney Disney Springs continue on their trek to make bigger and better your favorite Downtown area one thing that is going to be very important are the two parking garages that are slated to be built. We are all appreciative of the 6,000 new spaces created by this pair of parking garages as we all have done the parking lot slow drive at Downtown Disney. One interesting tidbit about these garages is how they are getting built and who is paying for them.

Mermaid off the Port Bow! Are mermaids invading WDW?

uts

“Mermaid off the port bow!” Walt Disney World features a few good places to sound such a warning. Mermaids have been spotted in many places at Walt Disney World and the spots are growing. Are we under an invasion? You decide…

First there are the Little Mermaid standard rooms at the Art of Animation Resort. These colorful and festive rooms bring the delight to every person that is a fan. These rooms make you want to be a part of Ariel’s world. From the colorful fish to the giant sculptures of her and King Triton they will have you wanting to swim with flounder.
