Jane Henson, co-creator of the Muppets, passed away at seventy-eight years old. Jane had been battling cancer and sadly lost that battle on Tuesday. According to the Jim Henson Company, Jane died in her home in Connecticut.

Jane met Jim Henson in the 1950’s in a puppetry class at the University of Maryland. The pair then became business partners through the creation, development, and marketing of the Muppets. Jim Henson began performing  on a TV show called “Sam and Friends” with his creations in Washington, D.C. He asked Jane to join him on the show as a performer and puppet designer, and she became his creative and business partner in the endeavor that produced Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and the “Sesame Street” characters Big Bird, Ernie and the Cooke Monster. Jane continued her involvement in her husband’s company and together, they launched “The Muppet Show” and a series of Muppets movies beginning in the 1970’s.

Disney Attack Plan – Radiator Springs Racers

rsr

Vroom, Whoosh, Screech, Vroom… When I think of Cars and specifically Radiator Springs Racers these are the sounds I hear in my head. It’s okay if you don’t hear the same things. You might want to get it looked into though. Amongst the many attractions you’ll find in Cars Land, Radiator Springs Racers is by far the most popular. You’ll need to have a plan of attack to get on this ride!

It’s not uncommon to be in line at Radiator Springs Racers for upwards of 2 1/2 hours on a slower park day. Here’s a tip though, get to the park early! When I say early, I mean before the park even opens. Head over to Buena Vista Street entrance half hour or more before park opening. You’ll be able to get into the park around 30 minutes before official opening. Once in California Adventure, send one person from your group to get the Fast Passes at Radiator Springs Racers, while the rest of you hit up the new Starbucks.

Radiator Springs Racers is the most popular attraction in Cars Land, and honestly in all of California Adventure currently, and there are days when the entire allotment of Fast Passes are gone within the first hour or so of park opening. You’ll be sorry if you don’t get those Fast Passes early!

Quick tip for those with toddlers, make sure you have them measured up first. The ride height minimum is 40 inches. In addition to the ride height requirement, know that the ride is fast, there are dips and hills, quick turns and speed. These can be scary to some kids, so know your toddlers limits. If your children are anything like mine, they will expect to be the “winner” every time they ride. This won’t happen, so prep them early to know that there is no set car that will “win” every time. You’d have as much luck figuring out how many drops and how far the Tower of Terror will have. There are a few moments of stomach drops as you experience roller coaster like “flying” and “near misses” along the way. These can be scary for most younger kids, but generally if they enjoy rides such as Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, they’ll be just fine on Radiator Springs Racers.

One last tidbit that you should know is that much like it’s cousin, Test Track, in Walt Disney World, this ride will break down and break down often. Much of the long line can be attributed to those holding out hope for the ride to be fixed and quickly return to operation. Unfortunately  the ride hasn’t gotten the bugs worked out completely so be prepared to entertain the kids, and adults, in your group for possible extended periods of time.

Overall, take the time to enjoy Radiator Springs Racers and all of Cars Land. you’ll find there is plenty to do and if you can swing it, ride the racers twice. Hit it once during the day and again at night for two completely different experiences. Whatever you do, you do not want to miss Cars Land during your visit!

I hope you find this information fun, new and worthwhile.

The Original Movie Musical Features Jane Seymour, Sara Paxton, Drew Seeley, and “Baby Daddy’s” Chelsea Kane Singing a Mix of Original Songs and Popular Favorites by Lady Gaga, Madonna, and Whitney Houston

ABC Family will celebrate spring with the world premiere of the original movie “Lovestruck: The Musical” (formerly known as “Elixir”), premiering on April 21, 8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT. “Lovestruck: The Musical” also features a stellar creative team in producer Debra Martin Chase and Terry Rossio, writers Terry Rossio & Jaylynn Bailey, choreographer Michael Rooney and director Sanaa Hamri.

“Lovestruck: The Musical” tells the story of Harper (Jane Seymour), one of the best dancers to hit Broadway. But an injury caused her to leave the spotlight, become a choreographer, and raise her daughter, Mirabella (Sara Paxton). When Mirabella, the star of Harper’s next big production, decides to quit the show to get married, her mother is determined to put a stop to the wedding and show Mirabella that she cannot give up her career for love, especially to marry playboy Marco (Alexander DiPersia). After the long flight to the Italian wedding site, Harper takes a swig from a strange bottle that is supposed to dull the pain of an old dance injury. Instead, the elixir magically turns Harper 30 years younger.

Memorial Day Weekend at Walt Disney World

Spring has sprung—although a lot of areas across the U.S. aren’t exactly feeling it yet—and while Walt Disney World Resort is smack in the middle of the Spring Break craze, we’re already looking ahead to what’s next.

Memorial Day will fall on Monday, May 27, this year. It’s a great time of year to visit the Parks, with perfectly balanced spring/summer weather. Plus, many kids across the nation are still in school, so the crowd levels haven’t yet peaked. So what kinds of Memorial holiday happenings can you expect to unofficially kick off summer fun at the Disney Parks? Well, while there are no specific Memorial Day holiday observances at Walt Disney World, the Parks will offer extended weekend hours, and some Resort events will make the holiday extra memorable.

Disney World’s Victoria & Albert’s named Orlando’s most iconic restaurant by Zagat

Zagat has named Disney's Victoria and Albert's as Orlando's most iconic restaurant (Walt Disney Co.)

The Walt Disney World Resort’s restaurant, Victoria & Albert’s has been named Orlando’s most iconic restaurant by Zagat. Zagat just released a new list of fifteen U.S. restaurants that “embody the essence of their city.”

Zagat included this review of Victoria & Albert’s“A ‘once-in-a-lifetime experience,’ this Grand Floridian ‘celebration destination’ earns ‘superlatives all around,’ from chef Scott Hunnel’s ‘exquisite,’ ‘beautifully presented’ New American prix fixes to ‘impeccable’ service — and an ‘über-romantic, high-end’ setting where ‘elegance rules’ (jackets are required for men); you may ‘need to hock one of your kids’ to pay, but those ‘trying to impress’ say there’s ‘no finer place.'”

This is not the first recognition the restaurant has received though. Victoria & Albert’s became a James Beard award semifinalist for outstanding service in 2013. Also this year, Victoria & Albert’s Chef Hunnel was named a semifinalist for the Best Chef South category. The restaurant has received the AAA Five Diamond award for thirteen straight years. Victoria & Albert’s is also a 22-year recipient of the Forbes Travel Guide four-star rating and has won numerous Foodie Awards over the years from the Orlando Sentinel.
