You can prepare to take to the skies with Disney Interactive’s Disney’s Planes video game. The game will be released on August 6, 2013, just three days before the film. The game is designed to expand the story in the film and allow players to roll, turn, and loop their way through airborne adventures.

Possible Changes Coming to Disney Cruise Line

wdw-cruise-mickeygoofy

Disney Cruise Line may be making some major announcements soon! Disney Cruise Line is rumored to be adding two new cruise ships to their current fleet of four ships. One ship is expected to be added in 2015 and another in 2016. These new ships are planned to be mid-size, meaning they will be larger than the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder ships, but smaller than the Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream ships.

Although nothing has been confirmed by Disney officials, it looks promising that we will see two brand new Disney cruise ships within the next three years! Disney has a “Monstrous Summer” press event planned for April 25 and 26 which according to invitations will include Disney Cruise Line news.

The other major change being speculated about with Disney Cruise Line is that the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder ships may be scheduled to under-go major renovations, including a make-over and other enhancements. Both of these ships have already been upgraded multiple times and the Disney Magic is already scheduled for a six-week refurbishment later this year.

There are numerous reasons for Disney to expand Disney Cruise Line due to its wonderful success. Disney Cruise Line just received top honors earlier this year. You can see some of these awards here. Disney Cruise Line already has thousands of guests sailing aboard their two newest ships every week. Disney Parks and Resorts even received a 3% revenue increase in 2011 over 2010 as a result of the addition of the Disney Dream ship. The success of the Disney Fantasy in the Disney Cruise Line fleet should also further encourage Disney to continue expanding.

What do you think Disney should change or add to their ships? What do you think is essential to keep the same on the ships that Disney already does right? What do you think Disney should name these potential new ships?

Epcot World Showcase Best Kept Secrets – American Pavilion

As we leave Japan and continue around “the world” we enter the American Pavilion.  The building is a representation of the Colonial time period and housed two different shows. Let’s see what secrets we can find in The American Adventure.

  • The building that the American Adventure is in is really 5 stories tall, but tall doors and windows to make it look like it is only 3 stories.

It’s hard to tell, but if you have someone stand by the door of the gift shop you can see that it is about 12′ tall.

  • It was constructed using the “forced perspective” (same as the castle in MK). Imagineers discovered that a building from that time period would have been too small to see from across World Showcase Lagoon.
  • The façade of the American Adventure Pavilion is made of 110,000 bricks handmade from Georgia red clay, aged for an authentic look and feel. The pavilion itself encompasses an expansive 108,555 square feet!

Senate Committee Approves New Ticket Law

Do you remember our article just last week explaining that Disney World needed Florida legislature to re-write the current ticket laws to protect the new MyMagic+ system? The proposed legislation also increased punishment for violations of laws on selling fraudulent tickets. Well, just this week, a Senate committee has now approved the new ticket law! This bill was supported by all three major Orlando theme parks including the Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Orlando, and Sea World Orlando.

There are two major changes for penalties to individuals caught selling fraudulent tickets. The fine had previously been limited to $500 and is now a maximum of $10,000. Repeat offenders will now face felony charges rather than misdemeanors.

Magic Kingdom

COSMIC RAYS in the Magic Kingdom is my pick for Counter Service Dinner here! Big portions and big taste is a winning combo! My favorite here is the 1/2 Rotisserie Chicken – with Mashed Potatoes and a seasonal vegetable its always juicy and flavor filled!  Burgers, Chicken Sandwiches and more are the favorites here and that’s a big plus for here, something for everyone! Plus you can have dinner and a show with  “Sonny Eclipse,” the animatronic lounge singer.

Now my choice for Table Service here in the Magic Kingdom was a toss up, I think that everyone at least once needs to eat in Cinderellas Castle just because well its Cinderellas Castle 😉 that said this is all about the food and just the food so with I am going with the CRYSTAL PALACE!! Salads, pasta, meats and sides all tasty with a more than a few stand outs. My favorite here is the Prime Rib and the Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes! Oh how I love those potato’s 😉 Buffets aren’t everyone’s cup of tea and you do dine here with Winnie and friends  but I’ve always had a hot, fresh and tasty meal here!

‘Lincoln’ Blu-ray Review

Lincoln

Steven Spielberg is one of those directors who can do anything. It seems for every fun adventure film he makes, he follows it up with a more serious film, usually something of historical nature. Following up with ‘The Adventures of TinTin’, Spielberg decided to delve into two very different historical tales.

The first was ‘War Horse’, based on the British novel of the same name, that followed the life of a horse through WWI, and all the men whom he came across in his life. It was a truly wonderful film, one that was enjoyed very much by audiences, but Spielberg wasn’t done with his historical epics yet.

For years, Spielberg had been working on a film about Abraham Lincoln, and he never lost sight of that. It took years of development, which saw the change of Liam Neeson to Daniel Day-Lewis in the role of Lincoln, but one that was worth the wait. Based on the novel Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln’, which deals with Lincoln’s last four months of life, when Lincoln tried passing the Thirteenth Amendment. The film is a star studded ensemble, including Daniel Day-Lewis in his Oscar Winning role as the Sixteenth President, as well as Sally Field, Tommy Lee Jones, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and James Spader. A film of this magnitude deserves a strong blu-ray package, and I’m glad to say that Disney has given the film one. Featuring some excellent special features, as well as perfect audio and video, Disney has made this blu-ray a must own.

Disney’s ‘Black Hole’ Remake Lands Screenwriter Jon Spaihts

Jon Spaihts

Even before ‘Tron Legacy’ came out, director Joe Kosinski had been talking about ramping up a remake of Disney’s 1970 science fiction film, ‘Black Hole‘. The film starred Anthony Perkins, Ernest Borgine, Robert Foster, and Maximilian Schell, and was directed Gary Nelson. But ever since the initial rumblings of the film entering pre-production, news on the film have gone cold, and many began to wonder if the film had fallen by the wayside, especially with all the changes that have happened in the studio over the last year. With Kosinski’s newest film, ‘Oblivion’, starring Tom Cruise set to open this month, the director is on the road doing press for the film, where we’ve started to learn more about ‘Tron 3’, but nothing really on ‘Black Hole’. It now looks like the film now has a new breath of life though, as Disney has hired writer Jon Spaihts, who wrote the original draft of last year’s ‘Prometheus’, to come on and do a new re-write of the film for Kosinski.
