Disney and Pixar’s Planes performed better than expected at the box office, and now Amazon.com is taking pre-orders for the Blu-ray 3D, Blu-ray and DVD versions of the Cars spinoff. The Blu-ray, DVD and digital copy combo version of Planes is the most popular right now and has soared to the number four spot on Amazon’s Blu-ray bestsellers chart.

There is no release date just yet, but I suspect in either late October or early November are most likely the time when Disney might release the movie. Of course as soon as we know you will know.

Disney’s Royal Salon App Review – Super Salon Fun for You and Your Little Princess

Basic RGB

Disney’s Royal Salon App is so super fun!  I get to review a lot of apps for Disney, and I have to say that this one is by far our favorite!  I’m excited to say that if you have a little princess in your house, this is a “must have” Disney app.

  • All your favorite princesses are on the app.  Cinderella, Belle, Rapunzel, & Ariel are ready for you to style their hair and clothes for one of four upcoming events.
  • Choose from the Royal Ball, Masquerade Party, Holiday Celebration, or a “Special” event. For example, Ariel’s “special event” is a Beach Party.  The “Special Event” is specific to the princess you chose.
  • Simply use your finger to swipe her hair into various up dos and styles.  Not sure how to style it?  Click on the “magic wand” icon, and swipe over her hair.  It’ll create a style for you!
  • After her hair has been styled, you’ll move to the next screen, which is the dressing room.  Here you’ll choose the gown that is perfect for your Princess’s event.  You can also change the color and pattern of her dress.  If none of the preloaded designs suit you, simply click on the “camera” icon and take a picture of your own favorite dress. Your princess can wear that too!
  • Next, add jewelry, masks, tiaras, and handbags, and she’s ready!
  • When she’s done, your device will snap a screen shot.  Then, you can add it to your personalized scrapbook!

See what I mean?  The Disney’s Royal Salon App is too fun!  It’ll get any little princess in the mood for her next visit to Disney-or give her a little taste of Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique while on the go.  Take some time and download the Royal Salon App to your device.  You’ll be glad you did!

Super Greeters Help Welcome International Guests

Disney Super Greeters

This year, the Super Greeter program at the Disney World Resort has continued to help international guests experience the magic of a Disney vacation in their own language. Disney World Resort has once again seen a lot of visitors from Latin America, especially Brazil.

At Disney World, a big part of the success with international tour groups from Latin America may be attributed to the 99 “Super Greeters” stationed throughout the theme parks and resort hotels.

These Cast Members speak Portuguese and Spanish, helping international tour groups navigate Disney World Resort, delivering an amazing guest experience and ensuring guests from Latin America and around the world have a magical time during their Disney vacation.

“At Walt Disney World Resort, we are attentive to the diverse needs of our guests,” said Steve Schreiber, GM of Disney’s All-Star Resorts, where many Latin American tour groups stay when they  visit. “Our plan for making guests from Brazilian guests feel welcome is another example of how we search the globe for Cast Members to help deliver an amazing guest experience.”

The large amount of Latin American visitors also has a big economic impact for Central Florida.

Starbucks Coming to Downtown Disney at Disneyland Resort

Starbucks Beverage Main Street Bakery

I’ve got some exciting news to share.  Starbucks is coming to the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort!

This winter, Starbucks lovers will be happy to find their favorite coffee offered in two locations. The first is in front of the west entrance to World of Disney and the second, a kiosk location.

We are proud to partner with Starbucks, a company that, like Disney, is known for providing its guests with an excellent experience, and we are excited to add Starbucks to the fantastic dining, shopping and retail experiences at the Downtown Disney District.

These new locations join two Disneyland Resort cafes offering Starbucks products: Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Cafe already open in Disney California Adventure park, and Market House opening this September inside Disneyland park.

I love Starbucks so I was very happy when I heard they were coming to Disney World. I know there a lot of strong opinions on this topic, how do you feel about it?

Top 10 Best Things About Disney in the ’70s

0128ZZ 0048DR31737025 533x800

Since I have already shared the Top 10 Best Things About Disney in the 90s and 80s, I thought we would continue our journey down memory lane with a groovy look at Disney back in 70s! This decade was full of openings and additions and was the first decade without Walt. Needless to say, it was crucial, but also exciting for Disney fans! So go ahead and take a look at my Top 10 Best Things About Disney in the 70s!

10. River Country-In 1976, Disney opened their very first water park! River Country boasted a rustic, old fashioned swimming hole theme and featured rock slides and rope swings and the like. If you were visiting Walt Disney World in the 70s, you were surely excited about Disney’s first stab at a water park, as well as having a new way to cool off in the Florida heat!

9. Epcot Construction-Disney broke ground on Walt’s last vision, EPCOT, in 1979. Many Disney fans from this era would remember watching Walt share his plans and vision for EPCOT; but once he passed away, there was no one to turn his unique plan into reality. If you were a Disney fan in the 70s, you were surely curious, as well as excited, to see what another Disney park would be like and what new magic you would discover in the coming years!

8. Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln-Back in the 70s, you could still catch the original version of Disneyland’s Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln! Walt had wanted an attraction featuring audio-animatronics of all of our nation’s presidents, but he was a little ahead of his time. Therefore, he settled on a show featuring his boyhood hero, Abraham Lincoln. Walt promised that his Lincoln would be as lifelike as possible, and he delivered! This attraction was replaced and then revamped several times; but in the early 70s, you could still see Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln in all of its original glory.

7. Space Mountain-In the seventies, Disney fans got to experience what it was like to rocket through space with the opening of Space Mountain in Disney World in 1975 and then in Disneyland in 1977! This attraction was the first of its kind as it offered roller coaster thrills in the dark! If you were still caught up with the Space Race, seeing how man had just walked on the moon in ’69, a ride on Space Mountain was at the top of your vacation to-do list in the 70s!

6. Pirates of the Caribbean-This popular, classic attraction first arrived at Walt Disney World in 1973. That means it opened a few years after Walt Disney World opened. Surprised? Imagineers thought that the pirate motif wouldn’t interest Florida guests, seeing how the Caribbean and pirate history was right in their own backyard; but when guests began pouring through the park gates, they were looking for Pirates of the Caribbean. The Imagineers soon responded with Florida’s own version of the popular ride; and even today, this attraction is a big favorite.

5. Robin Hood, the Aristocats, and the Rescuers-Even though Walt was gone, Disney continued churning out heartwarming animated movies. Aristocats debuted in 1970, soon followed by Robin Hood and then the Rescuers. While critics claimed these films weren’t quite up to the majestic quality of those under Walt’s supervision, Disney fans still enjoy them even today! Disney in the 70s also recycled popular voice talents, such as Phil Harris who voiced Baloo in Jungle Book. He was chosen again to voice Thomas O’Malley in the Aristocats and Little John in Robin Hood. Also, Eva Gabor was picked to voice Duchess in Aristocats and then Bianca from the Rescuers a few years later.

4. Star Wars-Even though the Star Wars franchise wasn’t Disney related back in the 70s, it has to be mentioned as it is a major part of the Disney company today. In 1977, Star Wars first hit theaters and the world has never been the same. Today, Star Wars attractions can be found at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World; and every year in May, Star Wars Weekends is celebrated at Hollywood Studios. Check out these Star Wars Weekends tips! Also, rumor has it that Disney is planning on implementing a Star Wars Land at Hollywood Studios; but for now, Disney is keeping quiet about these possible developments.

3. The Contemporary, Polynesian, & Fort Wilderness-In 1971, these three resorts opened at Walt Disney World and offered Disney guests the chance to stay immersed in Disney magic all throughout their vacation! The Contemporary was truly a modern marvel with it’s sleek, stylish design and the Monorail running right through the middle of the resort, a perfect reflection of the modern style of the 70s.

2. Winnie the Pooh-Disney released The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh in 1977 and charmed young and old with Disney’s version everyone’s silly, ol’ bear! Winnie the Pooh is one of the best things to come from Disney in the seventies and its loveable characters became just as popular and iconic as Mickey and Cinderella!

1. October 1, 1971-The seventies were a great time to be a Disney fan because, of course, this is the decade when Walt Disney World opened in Orlando, Florida! Hurray! Walt Disney World let guests on the eastern side of the country enjoy the wonder and charm of the Magic Kingdom, but more land and room to grow than what could be found at Disneyland.

Were you a Disney fan in the 70s? Did you rock a pair of mouse ears with your bell bottoms? What do you miss about this decade?

Changes coming to the Disney Cruise Line…

Hiya!! It is your favorite gossip columnist Anonymouse!! I’m baaaaaaack!! I am shocked that Chiperoo let me leave my computer long enough to find out some gossip for you. He is such a slavedriver, shhhhhh don’t tell him I said that.

I have some Disney Cruise line gossip for today. I hear that effective Nov. 15, 2013, Guests will no longer be permitted to smoke on stateroom verandahs on-board Disney Cruise Line.

They do recognize that there are people that smoke, and we know Disney does loves to make every guest happy, so portions of open-air decks on each ship will be designated as smoking areas. Smoking is not allowed on stateroom verandahs. If it is found that you have inhaled in your room, or verandah, your fine will be a $250 stateroom recovery fee. This fee covers a deep cleaning.

I have also heard that Disney has relaxed the dress code for their main dining rooms. It’s about time!! How many people on vacation want to wear a pageant dress just to go to dinner? They are still asking for no tank tops or swimwear. The swimwear I could understand, especially after seeing what some people wear, or don’t wear to the pool. I also hear that the adults only restaurants will still have a dress code.

So they relax on one thing and tighten another. Well I guess you can’t have it all.

Any who, that is all the Disney Gossip I have right now. For my past Gossip articles be sure to check them out here.

NANCY KANTER PROMOTED TO EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT, ORIGINAL PROGRAMMING AND GENERAL MANAGER, DISNEY JUNIOR WORLDWIDE

Nancy Kanter has been promoted to executive vice president, original programming and general manager, Disney Junior Worldwide. The announcement was made today by Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer, Disney Channels Worldwide.

Since reporting public ratings, the 24-hour Disney Junior channel has ranked as TV’s #1 preschool-dedicated network for 16 consecutive weeks among Kids 2-5, outperforming Nick Jr. by double digits and Sprout by triple digits each week. The channel launched in March of last year.

Disney Junior’s momentum on television and its deep connection with kid and parent viewers has driven growing demand, leading to successful expansions for hit series across multiple lines of Disney businesses including Disney Parks’ attractions, storybooks, consumer products, apps, app-isodes, DVDs and CDs.

To teach her a lesson, her parents post silly pictures of themselves on her homepage, but their plan backfires when they inadvertently add a video that is widely-distributed at Avery’s school. The episode and PSA premiere SUNDAY, AUGUST 11 (8:00-8:30 p.m. ET/PT) on Disney Channel.
