JakeAndNeverlandPiratesNeverLandRescueDVD

Jake, Cubby and Izzy set sail with a new Jake and the Never Land Pirates DVD, which will be available on November 19. This DVD will be packed with the full length Never Land Rescue show as well as 4 episodes of Jake and the Never Land Pirates. The DVD will also feature eight “Playing with Skully” shorts, a “Jake destiny sword” and glow in the dark stickers.

If you missed the Never Land Rescue on TV, here’s a brief synopsis:

In “Jake and the Never Land Pirates: Never Land Rescue,” Jake embarks on his most heroic mission ever as the magic of Never Land begins to disappear just as the ancient Forever Tree seems to be fading away. After a mysterious figure known as “The Guardian” arrives to explain that only the pirate who truly believes in himself can save Never Land from vanishing completely, Jake must break off from the rest of his crew and go alone on a mission to save the Forever Tree, the source of magic throughout all of Never Land.  Guiding Jake on his quest is Tinker Bell, who makes her first-ever appearance in the series.

My boys have been Jake (and Captain Hook!) fans since it first aired back in 2011. Even as they get older, they can watch the shows over and over and never tire of watching Jake and the crew. With 5 shows on one DVD, this should keep them happy on long car rides or when relaxing at home. If your kids are Jake fans, you’ll want to grab a copy of this DVD.

This fall, the Mad T Party is stirring in just the right amount of Halloween spice for a devilishly delicious All Hallows Eve T. Wander down the rabbit hole, if you dare, and step into a splendiferously spirited world ensconced in candles, fog and the most enormous cobwebs this side of the Tulgey Wood!

Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum are first to welcome you to this “Dead Man’s Party,” filled with more Halloween muchness than one can imagine, from a chilling new look for the Mad T Party Band to a monster mash-up for the Hottest Deck in Town. Top 10 Portable Eats at Walt Disney World

hotdog

There is always something to do at Disney World!  From rides to rousing parades, there really is always something go on!  With all that excitement, sometimes it can be hard to justify a “sit down dinner”–well for me at least.  Often, I power through (suffering for the cause–boo) and dine on the best table service fare.  Sometimes though, the best thing you can do is grab it and go!  Those trips where you are without ADRs, limited to time, or just simply trying to squeeze ever last bit of magic out of your stay–whatever the reason, sometimes you’ve just got to eat on the run!  That is what has inspired this top 10 list*** of portable eats at Disney World.  What are we waiting for…let’s grub on the go!

***Now, let me give a disclaimer.  This list is in NO particular order and is by NO means exhaustive.  I’m sure that I’ll let someone down with my choices, but if you read any of my articles you’ll know that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE audience participation.  The comment section will let you add to this deliciously portable list!

Bite #1 Turkey Leg

I’m going to go with the obvious for the first choice.  Grab a ginormous piece of portable poultry and make your way around the park like a pro.

Tidbit #2 Macaroni and Cheese with Truffle Oil Hot Dog

I know this sounds like a weird combo, but it’s actually pretty good.  Think childhood in a bun.  This combo isn’t the easiest to eat on the go, but it is doable.  Hot dogs seem to be the quintessential portable eat.  With a little technique, you’ll take this classic to the next level!

Grub #3 Mickey Shaped Pretzel

You gotta love those ears!  Especially when they are all doughy and delectable.  I would ALWAYS go for a Mickey shaped pretzel over the traditional knot.  Hold on to your ears and zip on to the next spot!

Morsel #4 Pork Shank At Gaston’s Tavern

There’s just something so, Gaston about eating a pork shank.  Maybe you’ve always been a turkey leg kinda person, take a tip from the ever so vain Gaston and try out a pork shank.  Eat one every morning and before you’ll know it you be the size of a barge!

Nibble #5 Waffle Sandwiches from Sleepy Hollow

ummmmm….YUM!  That is really all that comes to mind when I think about this combination of crispy waffle goodness and your choice of sweet or savory filling.  You’ll probably need to perfect stance in order to get a successful bite, but this nibble is worth it!

Snack #6 Frankfurter in a Roll from Min & Bill’s

It’s so simple and easy, the Frankfurter in a Roll from Min & Bill’s Dockside Diner is the perfect park portable snack.  Gone are the days of lose toppings!  This snack puts the World  in your hands as you munch carefree on an extremely efficient portable meal!

Nosh #7 Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bar

What’s not to love about the Mickey’s Premium Ice Cream Bar?  It’s delicious and readily available throughout the parks.  You can eat it pretty quickly, which means that you won’t have to chunk it before you finish with it when you get to the next ride.  I am obsessed with this park favorite and I highly recommend you enjoy it morning, noon, and night!

Chow #8 Churros

I’m not really sure that any further explanation is needed here.  Churros at Disney World should be lumped in as a “Must Do.”

Fare #9 French Pastries from Les Halles Bouglangerie and Patisserie

If you’ve never made a stop by Les Halles Bouglangerie and Patisserie, do yourself a huge favor and swing by.  Located in the France Pavilion in EPCOT, this quick service location is sure to please the grab it and go in you.  With pastries ranging in every confection from cream to chocolate to fruit and of course some savory options too, this spot has got you covered!

Goodie #10 Corn Dog Nuggets at Casey’s Corner

I love the pop ’em and go convenience of corn dog nuggets!  Swing by Casey’s Corner in the Magic Kingdom and  hit it out of the park with this portable pup!

What is your go to portable snack at Disney World?  What do you pop with you hop?  Share your sweet and savory sustanance in the comment section below!

As always, thanks for reading and commenting!

See ya real soon,

Quick Service Locations to Offer Printed Special Dietary Needs Menus at Disney World

photo 11

menu

Guests with special dietary needs, such as food allergies and intolerances, at the Walt Disney World Resort will now have access to printed special dietary menus at quick service locations throughout the theme parks. These printed menus will be similar to those that guests get to look at when they first arrive at a quick service location, often handed out by cast members.

Guests can then look at a printout which will indicate menu suggestions based on some of the most commonly requested special diets including: gluten/wheat, dairy, soy, egg, peanut, fish and shellfish. For example, a guest who is gluten free at Columbia Harbour House will have options such as Amy’s Rice Macaroni & Cheese, Allergy Chicken Tenders and French fries, Garden Harvest Salad with Chicken and more. If a guest has a special dietary need that is not covered on these new printed menus, they will still be able to consult the food allergy binders which each quick service location carries. Disney recommends that all guests with special dietary needs still consult with a Disney cast member when ordering food to ensure proper handling and minimize any potential risks for cross-contamination.

Food Allergy Binder

At this time, only select locations carry the new printed menus (including Columbia Harbour House at the Magic Kingdom); however, each quick service location will eventually offer such a menu. Menus are being implemented in phases, beginning with those locations that already offer allergy friendly menu options.  The benefit to these new menus is that it helps guests get a better sense of whether a quick service location has offerings based on their dietary need without making the guest wait in a long line only to find out there are no safe options. In addition, it will help streamline the process for the guest, lessening some of the wait times that typically occur when ordering with a special diet. As mentioned, guests should make sure to contact a Disney Cast Member when ordering, even if these sheets are readily available.

Stay tuned to Chip and Co for the latest information about these new menus and to view actual menu offerings from select locations, head to Gluten Free & Dairy Free at WDW for the current listings, as they become available.

Disneyland Buys More Land

Disneyland has bought an 11-acre piece of land at the intersection of Harbor Blvd and Ball Road.  The site is currently known as Anaheim RV Village. They intend to use the land for an employee parking lot. The plan is to put 1,400 employee parking spaces there, according to a Disneyland spokesperson.

Years ago a resort expansion took over Disneyland’s parking lot for theme park employees. There is a parking garage on property for Team Disney employees, but park employees have had to park very far away. Disney does provide buses from far away lots. However it is still an inconvenience for employees to have to park so far away and still make it to work on time.

They say more employee parking is a great need due to high crowds at Disneyland California Adventure. The new parking lot will replace part of an employee lot off of Katella Avenue, and then that lot will  be turned into into guest parking next to the Toy Story lot.

Rapid Fill Mug Update at Walt Disney World

Rapid Fill mug Green
Rapid Fill mug Green

Green Rapid Fill Mug

Many of you may recognize the new Rapid Fill mugs from Walt Disney World.

F.Y.I. The new colors are, Green, Purple, and Orange. So we finally get new colors but the same design, I guess you can’t get everything you want.

I was at Port Orleans French Quarter recently and I got a chance to use the new system and I also asked some Cast Members about the new system and I tried to get as much as info as possible for my fellow Disney Addicts.

I got a paper cup with an RFID chip in it. With that cup you can only get 3 refills in an hour. The refill amount was very true because the digital screen on the front of the soda machine will tell you how many refills you have left. However I did not take notice to the time limit because we were gone in under an hour. I think the limited refills and especially the time limit is a bit much, but I do see their point. A CM told me that there have been no problems with the system as far she knows. She said she heard the time limits may change at some point in the future but not the amount of refills. I think if enough people complain they may change the time limits.

One big thing I noticed is the the Coffee, Tea, and Hot Cocoa have no RFID Reader. So that means they are unlimited. Of course water and ice are free with no limits and you can use any cup.

My daughter noticed that a few people were struggling with the new system. She helped someone learn how to use the new system because there are no signs as to how the system works. As long as you put the cup/mug on the bottom black part, where the reader is, than your drink will dispense with no problem.

Rapid Fill Soda Machine

I did see people mixing different types of soda. I know a lot of people were wondering about that. I also noticed that no one had an older mug, like I normally see at the resorts. Everyone had the new mugs.

So it seems as though the system is going just as planned, so far.

Did you have a different experience at another resort? What are your feelings on the new system?

Wishing you Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust

With the start of the new school year and the fall season, it’s never been a more perfect time to get the family together and prepare for emergencies, wherever you are in the country.

And since September is National Preparedness Month, Disney is kicking off an expanded collaboration with the American Red Cross to help kids and families get prepared before disasters strike.

Making its inaugural debut this year is Mickey and Friends Disaster Preparedness Activity Book, developed by the American Red Cross and Disney to teach kids and families how to prepare for and respond to a wide range of emergencies, all while incorporating games and activities. The book is available to download in Spanish and English.

Disney Channel star Debby Ryan is also lending a hand to help families prepare for the unexpected in a Disney Friends for Change interstitial. Available online and airing on Disney Channel throughout the entire month learn three easy steps to get prepared: Get a kit, make a plan, and be informed!

Along with the on-air and online support, Disney also provided a grant to expand The Pillowcase Project, a program—piloted in New Orleans and Los Angeles last year with a $1 million investment from Disney— that teaches children to pack essential items into a pillowcase for easy transport in times of emergencies.

The donation of Mickey Mouse plush dolls for kids during disaster-relief operations and hundreds of hours of volunteer service through the Disney VoluntEARS program are also ways we help comfort kids and families during difficult times.

Visit Disney.com/Friends and let us know what you plan to do to make sure your family is well prepared for potential disaster.

Can You Pack Too Much for your Disney Vacation?

luggage
luggage

luggage

While there are many things you’ll need to pack for your Disney vacation, is it possible to pack too much? The quick answer is YES! You can pack too much for your vacation. It might seem like a great idea to try to fit as much as you possibly can into your luggage, but doing this could actually pose a few problems.

Baggage Fees – Overfilling your suitcase will cause it to weigh more. Not only does this make it more of a hassle to carry/roll your luggage, but it could also result in higher airline fees. Depending on your airline and the weight of your bag, you may have to pay extra for your overloaded luggage. Flying is expensive enough without extra baggage fees, so don’t spend extra money on your bags unless it’s really necessary.

Souvenirs – If you’ve like me, part of the fun of a Disney vacation is purchasing Disney Parks souvenirs. You can find all kinds of exclusive park merchandise at Walt Disney World and Disneyland. Once you’ve made your purchases and your vacation sadly comes to an end, you’ll need to store all of your new Disney items somewhere to transport them home. If you’re flying, you will need to put your souvenirs in either your luggage or your carry on. Obviously, this means there needs to be room in your suitcases. If you came with a fully packed suitcase, you might not have room for your souvenirs! So be sure to leave extra space when packing for your vacation.

What about packing your bag to take with you <a ” href=”http://www.frontierlandstation.com/2013/06/06/what-to-take-with-you-to-the-disney-parks/” target=”_blank”>to the parks? Keeping up with a lot of stuff while trying to enjoy Disney can be a little difficult; therefore, I am a firm believer in taking as little as possible with me to the parks. Now, I know this isn’t practical for everyone. Obviously, if you have small children there will be items such as diapers, formula, changes of clothes for messy eaters, etc. that you just can’t do without. But if you travel with older children, or like me, travel without children, you might be surprised at how little you actually need to bring with you.

Camera Bag – My husband loves to take photos, so we don’t travel without the camera. Camera bags are a great place to pack everything you need for a day at the parks. They can hold everything from autograph books to small snacks and more! Among some of the necessities for a day in the parks are ziplock bags to keep your electronics dry on water rides and extra batteries/memory cards. If you sunburn easily, you may also want to pack  a small bottle of sunscreen in your camera bag.

Water – It can get quite warm in the Disney parks, especially if your travel during the summer. Staying hydrated is very important; however, I do not take bottle of water into the parks. You can get a free cup of ice water at any quick service or refreshment stand. With free water so readily available, there’s no need to carry around a bottle of water with you all day. I do highly recommend bringing a mister fan into the parks with you. These are a lifesaver on those hot Florida days! Just put some ice water in it in the morning and you’re good to go.

How do you keep from bringing too much on your Disney vacation? Let us know in the comments below!
