Escape from tomorrow

Escape from Tomorrow is a creepy film about  a man who goes mad while visiting Walt Disney World. This unauthorized film was shot at Disneyland and Disney World without anyone at the parks knowing.

Writer and Director Randy Moore didn’t bother asking Disney for permission to shoot the film at either Disney theme park, because there was no way they would have given it the green light given its dark subject matter. So instead, he went guerrilla style, filming the movie with the same cameras tourists used, keeping copies of the script only on phones, and other clandestine techniques.

Check out the trailer below, and be sure not to let the kiddies see it as it will freak them out.

Using Walt Disney World Park Hopper Option

DHS

When planning our Disney World Vacation we always make sure when we order our tickets we get the Park Hopper option. While at the parks one of our favorite things to do in Disney World is Park Hop! To us there is something about being in different parks in the same day that makes our Disney Day complete.

Don’t get me wrong we have spent many days in the same park and had a blast, but having the choice of leaving a park jumping on a boat, bus or monorail and being in a whole new place to explore in just a bit, is exciting!

We love to venture to Animal Kingdom early in the day and enjoy the peace and calm of the animals on the Kilimanjaro Safari, Pangani Forest Exploration Trail and the Maharajah Jungle Trek and then head back to Rafiki’s Planet Watch for some more up close animal time. Then head out for lunch at a favorite resort spot then on to Magic Kingdom for an afternoon and evening of riding fun! Or how about a morning and early afternoon in Hollywood Studios getting your blood pumping with the Tower of Terror, Rock -n- Roller Coaster and Star Tours then getting your game on in Toy Story Mania! Then off to Epcot to explore China, Norway, Germany & Morocco to name a few!

Or did you ever go to park and think “Ok every single person at Disney must be in this park today?” Yep me to, so head on out and hit up another park! Now I am sure some of you might say “but I only have 4 days and I just want to do one park a day”  while I get that and understand you want to see and do as much as you can with time you have, so taking the time to park hop isn’t something you want to add to your day. Fair enough but consider this, Animal Kingdom closes around 5 or 6 you can then head to another park for the rest of the evening, Hollywood Studios may close at 8 or 9 and Magic Kingdom may have Extra Magic Hours that night so extra time for Splash or Space Mountain is never a bad thing 😉

All in all park hoppers can add to your magical vacation by giving you the flexibility and extras you just may need!

Do you park hop while at Disney World? Let us know in the comment box below.

‘Ducktales: Remastered’ Giveaway

Duck Tales Remastered
Duck Tales Remastered

Ducktales Remastered

We all know the characters, the theme song, and for many of us, we remember the great side scrolling adventure game from the 1990’s. In an effort to bring fans back to a simpler time, or just for pure nostalgia, Capcom and Disney Interactive have teamed up for ‘DuckTales: Remastered’, which is now available to download on PS3, Xbox 360, PC, and Wii U, for $14.99.

As the Press release adds, this was one of the most well known platform games at the time of its release in 1989:

Originally released in 1989 on the Nintendo Entertainment System™, DuckTales was widely acknowledged as one of the generation’s seminal platform titles. DuckTales: Remastered once again follows the adventures of Scrooge McDuck and his nephews – Huey, Dewey and Louie, as they explore different themed worlds on their search for five legendary treasures.

This was a game I spent many countless hours playing when I was younger, especially after it ported over to Gameboy. I can’t tell you how many times I played it through, and now I can’t wait to delve into again, and see how this new, remastered version plays. Capcom has done great remastering work on past titles, and I’m sure this is no different.

Now it’s your chance to get in on the Ducktales nostalgia. We’re giving six lucky readers a chance at getting a digital copy of the game. All you have to do is leave a comment below telling us:

  • Who your favorite Ducktales character is
  • Let us know whether you’ll want it for PS3, Xbox 360, or PC.

So for those counting at home, that’s 2 PS3 winners, 2 PC winners, and 2 Xbox 360 winners. It’s that easy. The winners will be contacted on Sunday so many sure you use a valid way for us to contact you.

Are you excited about ‘Ducktales: Remastered’?

Princess

Disney royalty becomes reality in the all new and redesigned Princess Fairytale Hall. Magic Kingdom guests get to live out their royal dreams of meeting a real Disney princess.

Opening to royal subjects Sept. 18, the enchanting new home to Cinderella, Rapunzel and the princesses who visit them is fit for royalty with  purple and gold trimmings, stone walls and ornate chandeliers.

Princess Fairytale Hall is located in the Castle Courtyard in the center of Fantasyland and is the latest opening in New Fantasyland, a multiyear project that more than doubles the size of Fantasyland and continues the largest expansion in Magic Kingdom history.

As loyal subjects to the princesses, guests can choose between two queues: one for Cinderella and a visiting princess or one for Rapunzel and a visiting princess.

princess

The castle-like entrance to Princess Fairytale Hall features walls of stone and stained glass windows with images from the Disney animated film classic Cinderella. The entryway opens to a large Royal Gallery which is an airy space with stone columns and a high ceiling with wooden beams and peaked arches. Framed portraits of Disney princesses adorn the walls. It’s the ideal royal setting for coming face-to-face with a Disney princess as their timeless tales come to life.

Cindy

When it’s time for the big moment, guests are ushered into the royal chambers, richly paneled in wood and elegantly finished. Cinderella in one reception room and Rapunzel in the other are each joined by one other Disney princess. Royal visitors might include Aurora, Snow White, Tiana, Jasmine or Mulan.

Each chamber features a large framed painting of a fairytale landscape and a table with a set of bound leather storybooks that bear the titles of fairytales in the language of the original tale. Rose vases are located on the far side of each reception room and wallpaper decorated with crowns and other royal imagery completes the scene.

“Through the years dating to Walt’s time, fairy tales have always been a rich cornerstone of Disney storytelling,” said Chris Beatty, Creative Executive Director of Walt Disney Imagineering. “Princess Fairytale Hall carries on our tradition of bringing classic Disney fairy tales to life in new and unexpected ways.”

To make Princess Fairytale Hall their new home, the princesses relocated from their former meet-and-greet area at Town Square Theater. Besides the standby queue, guests using FastPass+ and Legacy FastPass will be welcome as loyal subjects to Princess Fairytale Hall.

I can’t wait to see this!! It sounds beautiful. I may never want to leave. Is your little princess looking forward to meeting her favorite princess?

Wishing you Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust

P.S. – I hear that it is ready now and we might be a soft opening sometime this weekend.

Have a Magical First Disney Character Meet and Greet

Say Cheese3
Say Cheese3

Say Cheese3

Some children wait months, if not years to meet their favorite characters in person on a Disney vacation. The anticipation builds as the weeks pass and after watching the same Disney movies over and over again, the moment finally arrives to meet Winnie the Pooh. You have waited in line at the park for over 30 minutes for your meet and greet and now it’s your turn. As you walk up to Pooh with your camera in hand… your child runs behind you and hides.

Planning for that first meet and greet can help prepare your little ones for the experience, so the memories will be magic rather than tragic.

“My, what big eyes you have!”

Disney characters look tiny on television and seeing them in person can be quite intimidating. Many of the characters tower over kids and may be an unexpected and frightening surprise. Providing the perfect setting can ensure an easy first introduction that is relaxed and happy.

Consider a character meal for your first meet and greet since the meetings take place while guests are seated. 1900 Park Fare, Chef Mickey’s, Cinderella’s Royal Table, Hollywood and Vine’s Disney Junior Play ‘n Dine and several other restaurants within the resort offer character dining. Reservations are highly recommended and can be made up to 180 days in advance of your scheduled vacation.

Stage shows are an opportunity to get a peek at the characters and give a visual of what to expect during a meet and greet. Disney Junior- Live on Stage at Hollywood Studios stars Doc McStuffins, Jake, Princess Sofia and the cast of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. The Magic Kingdom morning rope drop ceremony features Mickey and his pals and also makes a great introductory option because you see the characters from afar.

Camera-ready tips for first time meetings:

  • If you can, plan your meet and greets in the morning before the temperature rises. This will allow your family to feel more comfortable and happy for their meeting.
  • Planning around nap time and meals is also key for big smiles. Waits can be lengthy on busy park days, so eating prior to your meet and greet will help keep everyone in their laughing place.
  • If your child is hesitant, Mom or Dad can go up to the character first, take a photo or two and then encourage the participation of their little one. Disney cast members work with shy guests quite often and have some great techniques to bring out the smiles.
  • If you have a long wait in line, take the opportunity to talk about the things that your child will say and do when he or she meets their Disney favorite. “Are you going to hug them?”  “Do you want their autograph?” Setting the tone and rehearsing can help to prevent stage fright.

Have your camera ready, because these are some memories that you are not going to want to forget! There is nothing like a first time meet and greet.

Do you have a special technique to encourage smiles during meet and greets? Please share your experiences in the comments section.

Plan a Disney Park-Free day!

P1080409
P1080409

ghirardelli

When you go to Disney World, are you go-go-go?  Have you ever thought about scheduling a park-free day?  There are TONS of things to do to recharge yourself while taking a break from the parks.  Here are five things you can do at Disney, without stepping foot into a park!

1. SWIM!  All on property resorts have at least 1 themed pool.  Value resorts typically have 2 or more pools on property.  Some pools have slides for the children, while others have really neat water features.  Swimming is a great way to recharge yourself for the rest of your vacation.

2. Head on down to Downtown Disney and explore.  There are amazing shops there and there are usually some amazing performers.  Downtown Disney is free to go to and you can easily spend more than a few hours there.  There are great restaurants like T-Rex Café’, Rainforest Café’ and if you’re in the mood for ice cream, Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop can’t be beat!  Make sure you stop in the Lego Store to participate in one of their daily activities for kids.  My kids love the Lego Store.

3. Resort Hop!  Go and check out some of the resorts you have never been to.  There are more than 20 resorts on property that you can visit.  I recommend going over to the Polynesian and trying a Lapu Lapu at the Tambu Lounge or heading over to The Wilderness Lodge to take a look at the Fire Rock Geyser.  The 120 ft. geyser erupts every hour from 7am to 10pm.

4. Head over to Disney’s Contemporary Resort where you can rent a boat, try wakeboarding, go tubing or even try parasailing!

5. Fulfill your lifelong dream of becoming a Nascar Driver!  The Richard Petty Driving Experience puts adults in the driver’s seat of a real NASCAR race car for 8 to 10 high speed laps!  *Children 6 years and up can participate in a ride-a-long with a trained driver.

Food Trucks are Rolling in to Downtown Disney

Downtown Disney logo

Food Trucks are very popular and seem to be everywhere but they have been in short supply around the Disney World Resort, until now.

Are you a fan of Food Trucks? Well if you are, then you will be overjoyed to hear they are coming to Downtown Disney!  They will be rolling on in later this fall.

Downtown Disney Area Manager for Food & Beverage, Matt Fisher, who has been working closely with Walt Disney World Food & Beverage partners on the concept. They shared some juicy details. They said there will be four trucks, each has a special theme to a different Disney Park.

Here’s is what you will find:

  • “Enchanted Fare” will serve favorites from Disney Parks around the world; think Croque Monsieur from Magic Kingdom, Glass Noodle Salad from Hong Kong Disneyland and (my favorite!) Hand-Dipped Corn Dogs from Disneyland park.
  • “Superstar Catering” will shine the spotlight on a wide array of meatball options fit for a Hollywood set.
  • “Namaste Café” plans to feature a nice mix of spices with dishes including Butter Chicken, Slow-Cooked Beef Short Ribs and Tandori Spiced Shrimp. Naan Bread included.

Hola ladies and gentleman. It’s me Anonymouse. You know you love me? How could you not love your friendly neighborhood gossip columnist? Right? Anywho I have some more juicy gossip for you!

We know that Disney’s Club 33 in Disneyland is expanding starting next year. Well a little birdy told me that Disney has registered an interesting domain name. They have registered club33disneyworld.com and club33waltdisneyworld.com. Now Disney is a HUGE company so I am sure they do this kind of thing a lot. So take it with a grain of salt because it could mean nothing, but you never know.

Nothing official has been released just the Mouse House buying up domain names.

Would you love to see a Club 33 at Walt Disney World? Which park do you think it needs to be in? Lets dish in the comment box below.

Any who, that is all the Disney Gossip I have right now. For my past Gossip articles be sure to check them out here.
