I got a chance to be the first to do a Hard Hat tour of the new Four Seasons Resort Orlando at Walt Disney World. This 444 room luxury hotel stand in Golden Oak, an upscale housing development on Disney property. This hotel that opens on August 3rd, 2014 will offer so many perks its not even funny!!!

Here are some of the things coming to the Four Seasons Orlando at Walt Disney World

  • Each room has TV’s built in the mirrors in the bathroom with Bose speakers, a walk in shower, full tub, plenty of storage space, and controls at your fingertips which notifies of Do Not Disturb or Housecleaning needed.
  • Amazing restaurants from a quick service “grab and go” style, a southern style Italian eatery, and a Spanish style steakhouse on the 17th floor overlooking the parks. The Steakhouse offers indoor and outdoor seating and views of the fireworks from Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and of course a great view of the Magic Kingdom

I will have to say, this hotel is amazing. Even tho they are heavy in construction right now, I got a good sense about how amazing this hotel will be. The rooms are clean cut and elegant and offer beautiful views from your balcony. The food that are going to be offered sound amazing. On top of all of that there will be great spa service and an outdoor fun center and pool area that doesn’t match anything offered in Orlando right now! I see the Four Seasons Hotel being a must do when you come to Orlando. Watch out Contemporary and Grand Floridian… there is a new guy in town and he has a lot to offer! I cannot wait to get to experience what all this hotel has to offer! Keep checking back for more information, updated PR material and of course coverage of the opening and a full review!!!!

The runDisney events held at the both the Walt Disney World Resort and the Disneyland Resort are becoming increasingly popular. With new races being added to events like Marathon Weekend, there is something for the beginning runner to the experienced athlete. There are even race events for children. With so many offerings it’s hard to decide which event and which races to choose. This article covers an overview about the current runDisney events held at the Walt Disney World Resort.

Marathon Weekend: Held in January every year, Marathon Weekend is runDisney’s premiere event. From the kids races to the full marathon, the weekend has turned into 5 day event with races every day. Newly added in 2014 was the Dopey Challenge, where runners run the Family Fun Run 5K, the 10K, 1/2 Marathon and Marthon earning 6 medals and the coveted title of being a runner of the Dopey Challenge. In addition to the races, runners can take part in Disney’s Health & Fitness Expo where speakers like runDisney’s official running expert Jeff Galloway and Disney nutritionist Tara Gidus present on various running, health and fitness related topics. There’s also no shortage of swag that guests can purchase throughout the expo. Marathon Weekend also hosts a Pasta in the Park Party and a Cool Down Party for those runners to celebrate their achievements. The Marathon Weekend events sell out quickly, so runners looking to participate in this event, should stay tuned to the runDisney site for information about race registration.

marathon

Princess Half Marathon Weekend: Held in February, this event celebrates girl power! Girls and women of all ages are invited to participate in the royal races that take place during this weekend. Races include the Cinderella Royal Family 5K, Disney Enchanted 10K and the Half Marathon. Complete all three and you will gain the distinction of completing the Glass Slipper Challenge. The Expo is definitely fit for a princess. This has quickly become one of the most popular runDisney events. And for the 2014 race Chip & Co has partnered with Destinations in Florida to have a race team!

Marathon

Expedition Everest Challenge: Held in May, this is a unique runDisney event. Unlike many runDisney events, the Expedition Everest Challenge takes place at night in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park and is a combination of 5K run and scavenger hunt. Runners register as a two-person trek team and can be all male, all female, co-ed or military. Families can also participate in the Expedition Everest Challenge Family Edition and the festivities also include kids races. After the race, runners get to celebrate at a nighttime party at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Now that’s wild!

Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler Weekend: Held in October, this event is sure to bring the spooky to your runDisney race. Inspired by the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, this is another night run which takes place in Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the ESPN Wide World of Sports. There’s sure to be wall-to-wall creeps and hot & cold running chills throughout the event! For a morning run, there’s the Happy Haunted 5K which takes place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports and is partially a trail run. Watch out for hitchhiking ghosts! One of the most popular parts of this weekend is the Villains Bash held at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It’s spooktacular!

tot

Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend: Held during Epcot’s Food & Wine Festival, runners are sure to be treated to some tasty treats before and after their run. Like many other runDisney events, this is also held at night. The after party is held at Epcot and runners get to enjoy all the offerings from the Food & Wine Festival. Now that’s a race finish! For guests looking to get into the winter holiday spirit, this weekend also hosts the Jingle Jungle 5K held at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. If you love Christmas, this is the race for you. There’s even “snow” to help you celebrate your run.

With so many runDisney race events, it can be hard to choose just one. In fact, runDisney enthusiasts often say you get the “runDisney” bug. If you’re interested in runDisney events and for all the latest runDisney information, check out the runDisney website for more information. And stay tuned to Chip & Co. for information about runDisney events.

Disney’s Frozen is coming to Broadway

Frozen

Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed that he is taking “Frozen” to Broadway.

“Frozen” will follow in the footsteps of Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, The Little Mermaid and Aladdin, to head on over to the Broadway stage.  Disney Theatrical Productions confirmed that “Frozen” is already in early development.

“We’re not demanding speed,” Iger told Fortune. “We’re demanding excellence.” Frozen, has already made $669 million. It is loosely based on Hans Christian Andersen’s The Snow Queen.

Frozen is the 4th animated film soundtrack to hit #1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

No time frame has been given for the Broadway version of “Frozen”.

How do you think “Frozen” the Broadway show will be? I am looking forward to Olaf!

Wishing you Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust

Ok, so we’ve got cupcakes, cheesecake brownies, what’s missing? Oh yes – COOKIES – can never have enough cookies – and these Gourmet Double Chocolate Chunk Cookies that can be found over at the Main Street Bakery are crisp on the outside and fudgy and gooey (from the chocolate chunks yum!) on the inside. Oh, and they are easy to make, so that’s a plus too!

To wash it all down, you can whip up a batch of these Oreo Milkshakes – which are served up daily at the Sci-Fi Dine In Theater in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Yum!

Fredison Costa Wins 2014 Walt Disney World Marathon

Marathon Medals

runDisney Marathon 2014

Fredison Costa easily defeats injured countryman Adriano Bastos for his third Disney title; Angela Brito of Ecuador claims her first women’s crown; More than 50,000 participated in the five-day runDisney event at the 2014 Walt Disney World Marathon.

The friendly rivalry between Brazilian runners Fredison Costa and Adriano Bastos took another dramatic twist Sunday when Costa upstaged the defending champion Bastos to win the Walt Disney World Marathon presented by Cigna.

After relinquishing the Disney Marathon title to Bastos last year, Costa reclaimed the crown, his third in the past four years and the 10th straight for Brazilian runners who said they worked together Sunday to help Costa win.

“It was really hard and the other runners were really good, but at about (Mile 22) I knew that I could win the race,” Costa said through an interpreter. “This was the most important race in my life.”

Bastos, who had won eight previous Disney Marathons, said he injured his left leg during an October race which slowed his training, leaving him unable to seriously challenge Costa this time. Costa, 36, sprinted the 26.2 miles through the four Disney theme parks, the Disney Speedway and the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex in 2:21:39. Bastos, 35, was second at 2:22:55 and Alfredo Arevalo of Guatemala was third at 2:23:19.

Asked if he was eager to try to regain the title from Costa next year, Bastos said with a sly smile: “For sure.”

Angela Brito of Ecuador came to Disney World for the first time to win the women’s division and easily checked that off her bucket list. She crossed the line in 2:47:44, nearly seven minutes ahead of second-place finisher Brittney Christianson of Minot, ND. Julie Northrup of Jacksonville was third at 2:59:08.

In the men’s Masters division, Ronnie Holassie of Miramar, Fla., won for the second straight year (2:36:54) and Bo Franz took the women’s Masters crown with a time of 3:11:26.

In the wheelchair division, Krige Schabort of Cedartown, Ga., repeated as the men’s champion (1:51:51) as did Jacqui Kapinowski of Tequesta, Fla., in the women’s division (2:42:04).

In all, more than 26,000 runners competed in the Disney Marathon presented by Cigna on Sunday. Roughly 7,000 of those runners ran in all four weekend events – the 5K, the 10K, the half marathon and the marathon, completing the new and hugely popular “Dopey Challenge” (48.6 miles).

The Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend presented by Cigna kicked off the 2014 runDisney series, which includes seven weekend events at Walt Disney World and Disneyland.
