Pop Warner Super Bowl and Cheer & Dance Nationals Heading to Charlotte in 2025

After three decades in Orlando, the Pop Warner Super Bowl and Cheer & Dance Nationals are moving to a new home. Pop Warner Little Scholars, the nation’s leading youth football and cheerleading organization, announced that Charlotte, North Carolina will host the prestigious events in both 2025 and 2026.¹

This marks a significant shift for the organization, which has held its national championships in Orlando since 1995. The move to Charlotte promises a fresh start and new opportunities for the young athletes and their families.

New Venues, New Experiences

The Pop Warner Super Bowl will take place December 6-13, 2025, at the Mecklenburg County Sportsplex at Matthews.² This state-of-the-art facility boasts nine synthetic turf fields, two natural grass fields, and a 4,300-seat stadium, providing an ideal setting for the championship games.³

The Cheer & Dance Nationals will be held December 8-11, 2025, at the Charlotte Convention Center.⁴ This spacious 600,000-square-foot venue is located in the heart of downtown Charlotte, offering convenient access to hotels, restaurants, and entertainment.⁵

Flag Football Joins the Lineup

In addition to the new location, Pop Warner is introducing an inaugural Flag Football tournament as part of Super Bowl week. This exciting addition will showcase the talents of elite flag football teams from across the country.

A Warm Welcome from Charlotte

“Charlotte is an incredible city with a rich sports culture, top-notch hospitality, and endless entertainment options, making it the perfect host for the Pop Warner National Championships,” said Steve Strawbridge, Pop Warner President & CEO.⁶ “We’re thrilled to bring one of youth sports’ most prestigious events to such a vibrant community and provide our young student-athletes and their families with an unforgettable championship experience.”

The Carolina Panthers have also expressed their enthusiasm for the event’s relocation. Riley Fields, Director of Community Relations for the Panthers, emphasized the team’s commitment to youth football development and called the Pop Warner Super Bowl “a national stage for the best in youth football.”

Excitement for Cheer and Dance

The Charlotte Convention Center will provide a dynamic backdrop for the Cheer & Dance Nationals, with thousands of athletes showcasing their skills and competing for national titles. The move to Charlotte offers the potential for increased media attention and a renewed sense of excitement for the sport.

“This will be an unforgettable experience for these talented young athletes, their families, and fans,” said Scott McLaughlin, Director of Sports Development at Visit Charlotte.

FCS, the event’s official championship partner, will continue to manage and organize the competition in its new location.⁷

More details about the events, including the format for the new Flag Football tournament, will be released later this year. The 2026 event dates will be announced in 2025.

Fresh Updates Underway at EPCOT’s Mexico Pavilion

EPCOT’s Mexico Pavilion is getting some extra attention, as new scaffolding has been added to the side of the main pavilion building, just to the left of the iconic pyramid. Along with the scaffolding, scrim has been installed in some areas, signaling that repainting work is likely underway.

This exterior refresh is just one of the ongoing projects happening at the pavilion. Inside, the Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros has been closed for refurbishment since early January, with the ride track drained and the attraction’s outdoor sign temporarily covered. The good news? The attraction is expected to reopen on March 15, 2025.

Disney is officially preparing for the next major transformation at Disney’s Animal Kingdom! A new Notice of Commencement has been filed by Walt Disney Imagineering for significant work at the Tree of Life Theater, setting the stage for the highly anticipated Zootopia: Better Zoogether! attraction.

The permit, which lists facility demolition, general construction, electrical work, and area development, signals that big changes are on the horizon. Long-time Disney partner Whiting-Turner will oversee the project, which is expected to kick off immediately after the closure of It’s Tough to be a Bug! on March 17, 2025.

Since opening with Animal Kingdom in 1998, It’s Tough to be a Bug! has taken guests on a wild, bug-sized adventure with Flik and the gang from A Bug’s Life, using 3D visuals, animatronics, and surprising in-theater effects. However, as part of Disney’s broader efforts to introduce more Zootopia into the park, this immersive experience will soon be replaced with the all-new 4D show, Zootopia: Better Zoogether!, set to debut in winter 2025.

New Annual Passholder 'Good-to-Go Days' Added for February 2025 2

More ‘Good-to-Go Days’ Added for Disney World Annual Passholders in February 2025!

Walt Disney World has just announced two additional Good-to-Go Days for Annual Passholders, making it even easier to enjoy the parks without a reservation next month. The newly added dates are February 25 and February 26, 2025, joining the previously announced February 4, 5, 11, and 12 on the reservation-free list.

For those unfamiliar, Good-to-Go Days allow Annual Passholders to enter a Walt Disney World theme park without needing a park reservation—though standard blockout dates and capacity limits still apply. These dates are added periodically, giving Passholders more flexibility to visit the parks on a whim.

To find out which days qualify as Good-to-Go, Passholders can check:

New Annual Passholder 'Good-to-Go Days' Added for February 2025 3

If you previously had a park reservation for a day that later becomes Good-to-Go, the reservation will be automatically removed and won’t count toward your reservation limit. However, you’ll still be able to view it in the My Plans section of the My Disney Experience app.

These added dates give Passholders even more opportunities to experience the magic of Disney without advance planning. Stay tuned for more Good-to-Go Days as they continue to be added throughout the year!

Droid Depot at Disneyland Switching to Walk-Ups Only

Starting soon, Droid Depot in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland will no longer require reservations and will instead accommodate guests on a walk-up basis, according to the official Disneyland Resort website.

The official Disneyland website’s Droid Depot page now includes a new notice. The notice reads:

“Incoming transmission: Droid Depot in Disneyland Park will no longer offer reservations starting March 17, 2025, but walk-ups are always welcome!”

Disneyland is simplifying the Droid Depot experience. Beginning March 17, reservations will no longer be required for the Custom Astromech Unit Building Experience. Guests can check for same-day availability upon arrival. The online reservation page is still active but will likely be removed after March 16.

For $99 plus tax, guests at Droid Depot can build their own custom astromech droid in about 20 minutes. The experience includes a plastic basket and a designated spot at the central conveyor belt, where a variety of parts circulate. Builders can choose components to create an R-Series (like R2-D2), a BB-Series (like BB-8), or a C-Series droid (like Chopper). Instructions are provided for each series. While each builder can bring up to two guests, only those with their own reservations can participate in the building experience. Guests should arrive a few minutes before their scheduled time. Each paying guest is limited to building one droid.

The battery-powered droids stand about 18 inches tall and come with a remote control and carrying box. Additional components, like personality chips (which allow droids to interact), attachments, and accessories, are sold separately. Droid Depot frequently updates its offerings with new parts, colors, and limited editions, often for special events like May the 4th.

Captain America: Brave New World Stars Take Flight at Nellis Air Force Base

Marvel Studios is ramping up excitement for “Captain America: Brave New World” with the release of photos and footage from a special press day at Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada. Stars Anthony Mackie and Danny Ramirez, along with director Julius Onah and producer Nate Moore, were on hand for the event, which included a thrilling jump from a HC-130J Combat King II aircraft by Mackie himself.

Mackie, who plays Captain America, took to the skies with pararescuemen from the 58th Rescue Squadron, the very unit his character, Sam Wilson, served in. The tandem jump from nearly 13,000 feet provided a powerful and personal connection to the role, adding another layer of authenticity to the film’s portrayal of Sam Wilson’s background.

“Captain America: Brave New World” sees Sam Wilson navigating a complex international incident after a meeting with newly elected U.S. President Thaddeus Ross. As he delves deeper, he uncovers a sinister global conspiracy and must race against time to expose the true mastermind before they plunge the world into chaos.

The film boasts a star-studded cast, including Anthony Mackie, Danny Ramirez, Shira Haas, Carl Lumbly, Xosha Roquemore, with Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler, Tim Blake Nelson, and Harrison Ford. Julius Onah directs, with Kevin Feige and Nate Moore producing. Louis D’Esposito and Charles Newirth serve as executive producers.
