DisneyNature the Monkey Kingdom with Trailer

DisneyNature Monkeys

DisneyNature Monkeys

Disneynature’s “Monkey Kingdom” spotlights the reality of a newborn monkey and its mother, struggling to survive within the competitive social hierarchy of the Temple Troop, a dynamic group of monkeys who live in ancient ruins found deep in the storied jungles of South Asia, alongside a rich cast of wildlife characters. Life is grand, food is plentiful and safety is assured if you’re lucky enough to be born on the higher rungs of the Troop’s social ladder. But this young mother and her infant find themselves in a constant state of hunger, dodging threats from higher-ranking monkeys determined to keep them on their assigned rung. It’ll take a lot of ingenuity, hard work—and a little luck—if this little family hopes to change their place in the world.

Check out the trailer:

Some Fun Facts:

  • “Monkey Kingdom” is the sixth theatrical release for Disneynature, the first new Disney-branded film label from The Walt Disney Studios in more than 60 years. The label was launched in April 2008 to bring the world’s top nature filmmakers together to capture a variety of wildlife subjects and stories.
  • The first four big-screen releases under the Disneynature label—“Earth,” “Oceans,” “African Cats” and “Chimpanzee”—are among the top five highest grossing feature-length nature films of all time. The fifth, “Bears,” hits theaters April 18, 2014.
  • Walt Disney was a pioneer in wildlife documentary filmmaking, producing 13 True Life Adventure motion pictures between 1948 and 1960, including “Seal Island” (1948), “Beaver Valley” (1950), “The Living Desert” (1953) and “Jungle Cat” (1958). The films earned eight Academy Awards.

Will a Disney Vacation Club Resort be built at Epcot?

P1050077

Epcot

Howdy Folks! Anonymouse here with some Disney Vacation Club gossip for you. Will DVC build a resort at Epcot?

My sources say it’s a possibility. The rumor has been floating around for a few years now, but will all the new DVC construction, it’s sprung up again. It’s believed that the new DVC resort will be past the back gate of Epcot in World Showcase.

You are probably asking me, Where? Is there space back there for another resort? It would seem so. Between Disney’s Boardwalk Resort and Disney’s Hollywood Studios is a parcel of land that would be big enough to accommodate a DVC Resort – possibly the size of the Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.

DVC Members, what do you think about another DVC property? Please leave your comments in the comment section below.

Anywho, that is all the Disney gossip I have right now. For my past gossip articles be sure to check them out here. Got any good gossip/rumors please email me at [email protected] or on my facebook page

Disney’s “It’s a Small World” Ride Celebrates 50 Years

It's a Small World 50th

On April 10th the iconic “It’s a Small World” celebrates it’s 50th anniversary. I can’t believe it’s been around that long. Disney World celebrated with a worldwide sing-a-long.

Park goers could join the chorus that happened before the afternoon parade. If you weren’t there you could go to smallworld50.com and watch others who have joined the sing-along online.

Here are some pictures from the celebration:

Did you know that Walt Disney himself helped create the iconic small world ride to honor UNICEF at the 1964 World’s Fair in New York.  The ride is not the most technologically advanced ride but yet people still love it today just as much as they did years ago. I am sure all of the adorable dolls help keep the ride so popular.

I thought you might also enjoy seeing Walt Disney open the ride in 1966.

Scrap That Disney Vacation!

photo 7 500x3751
photo 7 500x3751

Lego Store Scrapbook Page

You should scrap your Disney vacation. No… I don’t mean cancel your trip, I mean scrapbook all those amazing photos you took during your fun-filled Disney vacation!

Scrapbooking is a popular hobby. There are even regional and national expos and conventions held throughout the year where dedicated scrappers gather to see new products and check out new trends in the crafting industry. I love to scrap, but I am not a die-hard scrapper. I do, however, have an obsession with Disney stickers and papers. (As you can see in this photo, I have a LOT of Disney supplies. Yes, those are all just Disney!)

Kelly's scrapbook stickers

You can purchase Disney scrapbook supplies at most national craft and hobby stores; many of them have coupon deals that you can find in the Sunday paper, or online. I have also found a lot of Disney themed accessories for scrapbooking online at scrapjazz or amazon. I have even bought some at flea markets and yard sales. I own a Cricut die-cut machine but have not learned to use it yet. So far I only use stickers, ribbons, decorative papers, and even park maps or napkins.

T-Rex Scrapbook Page

To get started all you need is an album, your photos, some acid-free adheisive, and some Disney embellishments. I prefer to use the 3-ring binder type of albums. They are easy to load and hold a lot of pages. You need acid-free adhesive to protect your photos from fading or turning reddish-orange with time. If you are new to scrapbooking, you should take your photos with you to the craft store and match stickers and embellishments with the themes in your photos. Be careful, though. If you are like me you can end up spending a lot of time and money and possibly going overboard a little.

T-Rex Scrapbook

I usually theme my pages by park section, character, restaurant, or activity. Like I said, I am an avid scrapbooker, so I take lots of photographs and think about page design while I am taking the pictures on vacation. I have been known to take some photos simply because I have a sticker at home that would go great with a picture of a certain ride, character, or backdrop.

I organize all of my stickers and accessories into file folders and document envelopes that I purchased at an office supply store. Each character or theme gets a file. That way, when I go to make a page, I can flip right to the theme and pick out my embellishments from my stock of Disney supplies. I have a wall in my home office dedicated to scrapbooking. I have a table, chair, file cabinets, and all my tools and supplies organized for easy access. Scrapbooking is my hobby and the one thing I like to do in my free time.

Scrap Station

Sticker File

You can do pretty much whatever you want in your scrapbook. It is a fun way to showcase and embellish your memories. I can think of no better way to keep the magic of Disney alive than through a colorful, fun, and unique scrapbook. How about you? Do you scrapbook your vacation photos? Post some pictures in the comments section! Tell us how you keep your memories alive. Have tips and tricks on making scrapbooking easy for beginners? Tell us!

Disney VoluntEARS Help Build a Playground in Oakland Fl.

Kaboom Playground
Kaboom Playground

Kaboom Playground

It did not take long for 125 Disney Voluntears to construct this new playground in Oakland, Fla. This will provide a safe place to play for almost 6,000 children who live near the Park.

More than 200 volunteers in total, including Disney VoluntEARS and representatives of the Town of Oakland and Oakland Nature Preserve, took part in the project led by KaBOOM!, a national nonprofit dedicated to ensuring children’s access to active play. In less than six hours, the crew placed 48,600 square feet of safety surfacing and assembled a labyrinth of brightly colored playground equipment.

“Disney VoluntEARS are proud to help build this place of fun and fitness, where children and families can learn, play and grow together,” said Nancy Gidusko, director of community relations and minority business development at Walt Disney World Resort. “It was exhilarating to see this project come together in just one day for the children of Oakland.”

The playground’s design was based on local children’s “dream playground” drawings, which were collected at a kick-off event in February. After volunteer builders put the finishing touches on the construction, they took part in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to dedicate the new play area on Saturday.

“We’re so grateful to the volunteers who transformed Westside Park into a haven of community fun for our town,” said Oakland Mayor Kathy Stark. “Oakland is proud to be a partner in this KaBOOM! collaborative community project, which gives our children a new place to climb, run, swing, slide and just be kids.”

“Society’s well-being begins with a child’s well-being,” said Darell Hammond, KaBOOM! founder and CEO. “Thanks to the efforts from Disney and the Town of Oakland and the Oakland Nature Preserve, we moved one step closer to giving all kids the joyful childhood they deserve.”
