Disneyland, Hollywood and Disney Backstage with Adventures by Disney

Mickey Ave Sign

Mickey-Ave-Sign

So many of us spend time debating our next Disney vacation, should we do Walt Disney World? Disneyland? A Disney Cruise? We sometimes even think of going to Aulani; A Disney Resort and Spa. One Disney trip that tends to get left out of the conversation is Adventures By Disney. I know why, we all see the price tag and turn to the next Disney Vacation option available. I want you to put the cost on hold for a moment and read some of what is included in the 6 Day/5Night Southern Californian Adventures By Disney Vacation.

Hollywood and Disneyland Vacation:

*Private Hollywood Tour – Walking tour through Hollywood with visits to some of the most iconic sites, including TCL Chinese Theatre, El Capitan Theatre and Hollywood Walk Of Fame.

*Visit The Jim Henson Company – I’m not kidding either. This is the studio that Charlie Chaplin built in 1917 and was featured throughout the Walt Disney Pictures Movie, The Muppets (2011).

*Exclusive Access at Walt Disney Imagineering – Get a chance to see how Walt Disney Imagineers actually create the magic we all see and love at our favorite parks and resorts. You will interact and see architects, designers, engineers and technicians who are all part of the Walt Disney Imagineers.

As if that wasn’t enough excursions for one trip, what if I told you that you get to actually visit Disneyland and be a part of some very VIP experiences.

*Walt Disney’s Disneyland Park Apartment – Take a trip up to the very apartment that Walt Disney would view Disneyland from. You will literally be within the space that Walt and Lillian, along with their girls, spent many days in. Even seeing where Lillian Disney would host afternoon tea, where Walt Disney would peer out the window. Where the family would gather and play. I’m not going to lie, I think this alone is worth the price of admission.

walts-apartment-1

*Behind The Scenes at Disneyland Resort – Included with your Adventures By Disney vacation is a 2-Day VIP experience at Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. You will receive a special FASTPASS service, as well as reserved parade seating.

You might think that has to be it, what more could they possible give me in this trip? We haven’t even discussed accommodations yet! You have to sleep somewhere right? What about food? You will want to eat right?

I don’t want to spoil the entire trip for you by giving you a play by play of the itinerary, however let me share with you that you will be staying part of the trip at the Lowes Hollywood Hotel, which is in the heart of Hollywood and is within walking distance of many Hollywood Landmarks. Around Day 3 you will move to Grand Californian Hotel and Spa.

Not only do you not need to worry about your luggage, your transportation, your hotel stays, you also have most of your meals included in the package. All in all your Southern California Adventures By Disney vacation includes: 5 Breakfasts, 3 Lunches and 3 Dinners.

If you love Disney hospitality, Disney’s attention to detail and Disney excellence then an Adventures By Disney vacation is exactly what you’ve been waiting for and didn’t even know it. Contact Daniel today to discuss how you can enjoy an almost completely inclusive vacation that starts at under $3,000 per person. The only pieces you may have to cover the cost of is airfare to LAX and a couple meals. Beyond those items Disney has covered everything else, including taxes, tips, even coins for pay toilets if necessary!

Anna and Elsa Now at Princess Fairytale Hall in the Magic Kingdom

Anna and Elsa Meet and greet
Anna and Elsa Meet and greet

Anna and Elsa

You know Disney loves making your dreams come true. So now they are sprinkling a little extra pixie dust on your Disney vacation because now you can meet the awesome Anna and Elsa from Frozen. They are now appearing at Princess Fairytale Hall.

The outside is bright and eye catching so you won’t miss it on your stroll around the kingdom that is magical. The castle-like entrance to Princess Fairytale Hall features walls of stone and stained glass windows with images from the Disney animated film classic Cinderella. The entryway opens to a large Royal Gallery – an airy space with stone columns and a high ceiling with wooden beams and peaked arches. Framed portraits of Disney princesses adorn the walls.

When you enter you get to pick between 2 queues one for Cinderella and Rapunzel or one for Anna, Elsa, and another visiting princess. You will be ushered into the royal chambers, richly paneled in wood and elegantly finished. Cinderella and Rapunzel are in one reception room, while Anna and Elsa are in the other, joined by one other Disney princess.

A visiting princess may be Aurora, Snow White, Tiana, Jasmine or Mulan.

Each chamber features a large framed painting of a fairytale landscape and a table with a set of bound leather storybooks that bear the titles of fairytales in the language of the original tale, including Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Snow Queen,” with the title in Danish, “Snedronningen.” Rose vases are located on the far side of each reception room and wallpaper decorated with crowns and other royal imagery completes the scene. Guests are encouraged to bring cameras and autograph books. Disney PhotoPass Imaging specialists also are on hand to capture the events in each room.

“Through the years dating to Walt’s time, fairy tales have always been a rich cornerstone of Disney storytelling,” said Chris Beatty, Creative Executive Director of Walt Disney Imagineering. “Princess Fairytale Hall carries on our tradition of bringing classic Disney fairy tales to life in new and unexpected ways.”

My advice is book your Fastpasses now because I know this a very popular meet and greet!

Wishing you Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust

Satisfy Your Pizza Craving With The Real Deal at Via Napoli

vianapoli
vianapoli

Via Menu

One of the best things about Walt Disney World is the huge variety of things to do and see, and EAT! They have a TON of amazing restaurants to choose from, and they have pretty much any and every kind of delicious cuisine available. I personally love to try new restaurants while on vacation, and since my family and I are all huge fans of Italian food, we figured that making an ADR for Via Napoli in Epcot was a must! Read on to see what we thought…

Via outside

When we arrived for lunch, there was a BIG LINE waiting to get into the restaurant, but luckily since we had already made an ADR, we were able to bypass the line of folks hoping to get a table without a reservation, and head right inside!

via-napoli-interior

It’s a BIG restaurant – nice high ceilings in a big open space, plenty of tables, and you can check out the kitchen area (and the brick ovens used to cook the pizzas, which I must admit was the real reason I was there – to get some PIZZA!). With it being such a large, open area, the noise level was definitely high, but not so high that you couldn’t hear your table mates, it was a happy kind of noise, as kids and adults alike enjoyed their pizzas, pastas, and other goodies

Once we were seated (right on time, I might add!) we got down to the important business of perusing the menu. There were plenty of mouth-watering meals to choose from – lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs, chicken/eggplant/veal parmesan, and of course the PIZZAS! You had the option to build your own, or select from choices like pepperoni, prosciutto y melone (prosciutto and melon!), mushroom, and more!

Via Arancini

But first things first – when I see arancini on the menu, I can’t say no – I mean, it’s a ball of risotto filled with meat and cheese, and then fried – what’s not to love? These were great ones too as far as arancini go, served nice and hot with a melty cheese center – yum!

Via PIZZA

Soon it was time for the main attraction – the thing I had made the ADR here for in the first place – the pizzas – prepared in the wood-fired pizza ovens, these came out just as I expected – thin crisp crust that is almost burned in places, but still has a great flavor to it. I had the margarita style pizza, which was great – fresh mozzarella, and the basil was perfect. My whole family really enjoyed their pizzas, they all were served up nice and hot and with delicious fresh ingredients, you really can’t go wrong!

I would have to say the only bad thing about our trip to Via Napoli was our waitress – the service she gave us was just horrible, and I won’t go into details, but it definitely seemed like a one off scenario, as the management was very quick to respond to our complaints, and they were very kind and apologetic. I don’t think this is indicative of the the service as a whole here, I think we just got a bad server, which can really happen to anyone!

Overall, even though our service was spotty at best, I would still recommend Via Napoli to those who are looking for a delicious Disney meal – the Italian atmosphere was great, and the pizzas alone were worth the trip!

I would give anything for some more of that pizza with a side of arancini right now…But I would love to hear YOUR thoughts – Have you been to Via Napoli – what did you think? Was it worth it?

Margaritaville Orlando Review

Margaritavilla Sign

Margaritaville, located at City Walk at Universal Studios Florida is a staple to parrot heads everywhere. The restaurant, which is themed for Jimmy Buffet is a place to go to have some good food, a drink or two, listen to some awesome live music, and unwind from a long day in the parks or even at work. The entire place is themed like your at the beach. From tiki torches to a erupting volcano of margaritas at the bar, this place will make you think your “wastin’ away again in Margaritaville”. Jason from Chip and Company went out to the restaurant to try out the new menu and talk to the chef about the changes.

First off, I want to clear some misconceptions. This is not a tourist attraction filled with overly priced food and merchandise. If you have ever been to Orlando, you learn quickly that most of these “themed” restaurants have just OK food at best, and you go there just for the atmosphere. Here is where the misconception comes into play. This restaurant is not one of those. A few months back the decision was made to change the entire menu to include all fresh food. The seafood and other food is made or delivered on a daily basis. I had a chance to sit down with the chef and try some of the new items that are being featured on the menu.

Appetizers:

DSC_0189

Volcano Nachos

House-made tortilla chips topped with chili, cheese, fresh guacamole, sour cream, jalapeños, tomatoes and scallions. As you can see this app can feed a small army! This plate had some great flavor and the chili was amazing. I hear that many groups of people order this with their entrees and have to cancel the main dish because this fills them up! I can see why now!

Asiago Crab Dip

DSC_0187

One of my favorites! Menu states that this crab dip is made up of lump crabmeat in a sharp asiago cheese cream served with grilled crostini. Great creamy flavor and left me wanting more!

“Drunken” Shrimp Skillet

Drunken Shrimp Skillet

Sautéed shrimp with tequila key lime butter, roasted garlic and peppers, with a mini baguette for dipping. The sauce on this appetizer alone was well worth it! I would have been happy dipping the sauce in the bread, but the freshness of the shrimp and the kick of the garlic and peppers made this an over the top appetizer!

Grilled Shrimp Skewers

DSC_0196

Jerk-glazed shrimp dusted with sugared coconut served with pineapple. By far this was my pic for the best appetizer. I love spicy and this had a great mix of heat from the jerk BBQ sauce and the sweet from the coconut and pineapple. For anyone who likes a little heat, make sure to try this new appetizer!

ENTREE:

Shrimp Trio

DSC_0192

My girlfriend had the shrimp trio! The menu says this plate has grilled blackened shrimp, sautéed island lime shrimp and crispy coconut shrimp served with French fries, cilantro lime coleslaw, jalapeño tartar sauce and Key West cocktail sauce. She loved this plate. The shrimp was the same as the drunken shrimp, but the coconut shrimp was her favorite. She said the Key West cocktail sauce was the icing on the cake! A must try in her opinion!

Surf and Turf

DSC_0190

I had the surf and turf. it had a 10 oz flat iron steak and grilled shrimp served with French fries. The shrimp were fresh and cooked well, however the steak was the kicker for me! Moist, cooked to perfection, and tender. One of the best flat skirt steaks I have had in a long time!

Dessert

DSC_0198

This is going to hit the menu soon. For those who still have a small sweet tooth after dinner, they offer shot glass sized desserts that ranges from a chocolate cake with chocolate mousse, a red velvet cake, a Oreo cake and more! Check them out on the menu soon! Also for kids there is a mud pie that included gummy worms!

And for my choice of desserts… I want to introduce you to the Chocolate Hurricane!

DSC_0204

This dessert has everything the name implies. Vanilla bean ice cream served with brownies, Kit Kat and Heath bars, pirouette and mini shortbread cookies, sliced banana, whipped cream and chopped macadamia nuts. Swirled tableside with chocolate and caramel sauces! As you can see this picture is worth a thousand words and calories! (Just kidding but I’m sure it is up there somewhere!)  This dessert was amazing and full of flavor! When we were done, it didn’t even look like we had touched it! Make sure to bring all of your friends to have this dessert! For the price and what you get I am choosing this as my must have dessert to share with friends at Universal Studios!!!

Drinks

DSC_0185

We had a margarita flight that included four amazing drinks! When you cant pick the one you want, make sure to get them all! They tasted great, and made sure to kick the night off with a great time!

Overall:

This restaurant is more than Jimmy Buffet, margaritas, and Landshark! Take away the name, the awesome decorations, music, and people and what do you have? A great place to eat with amazing fresh food! The portions are huge, and staff is warm and friendly! I am really impressed with this place, and I know I will be bringing my family back to eat there soon! If you do go by tell them Jason from Chip and Company sent you, and have a drink or two for me!

Space Mountain A Graphic Novel Review!

space
space

space

The year is 2125 and the Magellan Science Academy has given two lucky cadets special
Thulium tickets to join a team of space explorers on an exciting time-travel mission twenty-four
hours into the future. But when their mission goes unexpectedly wrong, the two kids must band
together with a tiny flying saucer sidekick to save themselves, their crew, and all of Space
Mountain–before time runs out and the galaxy is destroyed!

Space Mountain is a fast paced beautiful adventure of epic proportions. The first thing that drew me into this book and it’s amazing world was the really cool colorful cover. You can practically see the action jumping off the cover which intrigued me to want to read the graphic novel even more. If you look at the cover carefully the building might seem familiar. That’s because the building and part of the book is based off of the very popular ride Space Mountain in the Disney Parks.

A good majority of the book is based off of not only the ride but tomorrow land itself. If you love that particular part of the Disney Parks then you will love this novel and the storyline behind it. Also on the cover is a small 5 star review in the form of a quote from popular Kingdom Keepers author Ridley Pearson which if you’re me and obsessed with his books means a lot! You might also catch a small review on the back from some more of your favorite authors.
Beyond the cover is a story about two kids and their journey to save the present from the effects of the past. Stella and Tommy are two totally different characters yet they both bring so much to the table. Stella is a smart young girl who loves to read and knows everything there is to know… or at least she thinks she does. Tommy knows everything there is to know about electronics and even though he might be a bit of a troublemaker he means the best in everything he does.
There are also some pretty cool supporting characters like Captain Cole and Anne Krell who add a bit of mystery to the story. Through these great color illustrations in the book the story leaps right off the page and you’re sucked in to the world these kids are trying to save. Through everything they stick together and show that kids can be counted on to do great things as well. That’s the one thing I love about the story, that these kids save the entire universe all by themselves with just a little help from a flying saucer named Artie.
Be on the lookout for some BIG plot twist at the end of the book! I won’t give it away but I will tell you it sets the story up for an amazing sequel that will probably blow your socks off! Also lookout for a cute little look at the stages of illustration in the back of the book which if you’re like me excites you to no end. Overall this story is sweet, fun and a nice quick fun read. I highly recommend it to everyone to read no matter your age! Pick the book up on May 6th in stores and get ready for a high flying adventure!
