Aloha! Ladies and Gents! Yes I am back to give you more the thing you love so much, gossip! I have been hearing some buzzing around the office that later on this year there will be a big refurbishment coming to the Walt Disney World Railroad.

The buzz is the closure will being on September 28 and will re-open on November 9, 2014. Disney will be sending emails to guests that have the ‘Disney’s Magic Behind Our Steam Trains Tour’ booked to let them know the Railroad will be closed due to unforeseen track maintenance.

Please remember that nothing is written in stone. Disney has not officially announced anything yet.

Anywho, that is all the Disney gossip I have right now. For my past gossip articles be sure to check them out here. Got any good gossip/rumors please email me at [email protected] or on my facebook page

The Voice of Pinocchio Richard Percy Jones Passes Away at 87

Pinocchio

Sadly the voice of Pinocchio, Richard Percy Jones, has passed away July 7th at his home in Northridge, California. He was born on Feb 25, 1927 in Snyder, Texas. He was also known as Dickie or Dick Jones.

He was found dead on Monday by his wife. She found him on the bathroom floor. She proceeded to called 911, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death has yet to be determined.

He voiced the role of the lovable puppet in the classic Disney film as a child actor. This was not his only part, he did have a few others in his career:

  • He performed on the songs “Give a Little Whistle,” “Hi-Diddle-Dee-Dee” and “I’ve Got No Strings.”
  • He also had small roles in the Our Gang movies as well as Babes in Toyland (1934), Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939), Knute Rockne All American (1940) and Heaven Can Wait (1943).
  •  He had small roles in some Westerns, in movies and TV. From 1951-53, he played Dick West/Jimmy the Kid in 78 episodes of the TV series The Range Rider.
  • He made a few appearances as different characters on the 1950-54 series The Gene Autry Show and the 1954-55 series Annie Oakley. He went on to play the title character in 1955-56’s Buffalo Bill Jr. His last and final credit was the 1965 film Requiem for a Gunfighter.

He retired from acting in the 60’s and started a new career in Banking and Real Estate.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family.

Wishing you Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust

With most designs coming in at around $6, and totally free shipping, they are a truly affordable way to decorate your MagicBands. Keep your decal on for the entire 3-5 year outdoor decal life expectancy, or get the whole collection and wear a new one as often as you like. Designs are inspired by all of your favorite characters – so it can be hard to choose just one. It’s about to get even harder because what you are seeing here is just the beginning.

My Fantasy Bands are digitally printed in full, beautiful color on white calendared vinyl with an adhesive backing, and protected from the elements with an abrasive-resistant, UV-blocking overlaminate that gives the sticker a 3-5 year outdoor life. The matte finish compliments the material that your theme park wrist bands are made of, and you won’t see a glare in the sunlight or when using flash photography. Ready to take the plunge down Summit Plummet or ride the Kali River Rapids? No problem! These babies are printed on high quality waterproof vinyl. You are safe to wear them on all of your favorite water rides, in the pool, or even in the shower.

Here are some more things to consider!

  • They are completely adjustable to kid’s sizes and smaller adult wrists.
  • These are a great option if you have a growing collection of MagicBands that you want to wear or coordinate with your outfit – long after your vacation is over.
  • My Fantasy Bands does not accept custom orders (for now) but they always have an ear open for fan requests. New designs will continue to be revealed monthly in the immediate future! You will want to visit my the My Fantasy Bands facebook page or Instagram for the most up-to-date info on latest designs, weekly specials, contests and more!

Printed using only photographs taken by My Fantasy Bands staff, or original designs that are artistic interpretations of Disney artwork, otherwise known as Fan Art. My Fantasy Bands does not claim ownership of any Disney characters or other Disney intellectual property, they are only inspired by them.
  • Application is a snap! Check out the full instructions, with photos, here. I am not crafty in any way, and it only took me about 20 seconds. This is really good news for those of us who will most likely want to change up our designs often.
  • Shipping in the USA and WORLDWIDE is always FREE! You can even get them sent directly to your resort or hotel so they will be waiting for you when you arrive.

Hogwarts Express POV at the New Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Kings Cross1
Kings Cross1

Hogwarts Express is one of the new rides at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter expansion.  You can ride this attraction from Hogsmeade to Kings Cross, at the entrance of Diagon Alley.  This is my favorite part of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter expansion.  You can ride this train in both directions and each direction is a different story.  My favorite ride is from Kings Cross to Hogsmeade.  Here is a glimpse of this experience.

Climb aboard the Hogwarts Express at Platform 9-¾ in Kings Cross Station! Make your way through Kings Cross station, past luggage strewn about to Platforms 9 and 10. Watch closely as you see your fellow Hogwarts students walk through the wall to get to Platform  9-¾.

After walking through the wall, you find yourself on Platform 9-¾ staring at the Hogwarts Express! You will see luggage from other students, including Harry’s owl, Hedwig!

Enter your cabin, sit back, and relax as you ride the Hogwarts Express to Hogsmeade Station. Watch as you leave London, headed for Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. You may even get a visit from Harry Potter, Hermione, Ron, and a dementor!

Anna and Elsa Receive their “Royal Welcome” in Hollywood Studios

Elsa and Anna Royal Welcome

Elsa and Anna Royal Welcome

It’s official, Anna and Elsa have received their Royal Welcome at Hollywood Studios.

“Anna & Elsa’s Royal Welcome” is a new event that happens everyday at Hollywood Studios. This is a way for everyone to see and bask in the glow of the sisters from Arendelle. It starts off in front of the park, where the “Frozen” sisters are introduced to their royal subjects by way of a horse drawn sleigh. Meanwhile Kristoff can be seen riding on a Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post float. That’s not all there will also be a flag corp twirling the flag of Arendelle, a troupe of ice men performing a routine with ice picks, sliding skiers, skating snowflakes, and more.

Check out some highlights from the event:

Just in case that is not enough cuteness for you, during the royal event about 20 to 30 kids are chosen to become honorary royalty of Arendelle and march in the parade. Now the children are chosen at random but I hear if they are wearing your ‘Frozen’ best that may just increase your little ones chances of getting picked.

This is just one of the new “Frozen” events happening at Hollywood Studios this summer!

Walt Disney Pictures confirms “Enchanted 2

Enchanted
Enchanted

Enchanted

Have you been dreaming of a true loves kiss?

Well Fans, dream no more.. Enchanted 2 is in studio now to begin production. Disney has hired 2 writers, J. David Stem and David N. Weiss the writers of Shrek 2 and The Smurfs to write the script for Enchanted 2.

Enchanted which opened at No. 1 over Thanksgiving weekend 2007 was directed by Kevin Lima and went on to receive an Oscar and Golden Globe nomination and grossed over $340 million US dollars worldwide at the box office.

The Oscar Award-nominated actress Amy Adams who starred and sang in the first movie with her portrayal of Princess Giselle, the animated princess who crossed over into the real world, is thought to be coming back for Enchanted 2. However, there is still no official word as of yet if she or her co-stars Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden, Timothy Spall, Idina Menzel, Rachel Covey, and Susan Sarandon will be coming back. We do think though that with the success of recent movies like Frozen and Pitch Perfect, Disney is going to be looking to profit off the sudden surge of quality sing-along and fairy tale films. So no worries, we’ll keep our eyes and ears open for when Disney releases that information, we’ll be sure to bring it to you.

Anne Fletcher of (The Guilt Trip) will be at the helm, along with Barry Josephson and Barry Sonnenfeld who are producing the sequel. A draft was actually penned by Jessie Nelson at one point, but it looks like Disney is going with a new script.

So are you all excited about the sequel and would you like to see the original cast come back? Let us know what you think?

A New Sidekick for Duffy the Disney Bear in Japan

Duffy and Gelatoni.

Last week Duffy Bear got a brand new friend at Tokyo Disney Sea, Gelotoni who is an Artistic Cat.

Oriental Land Co unveiled the artsy kitty this week at Tokyo Disney Sea, and already has a line of merchandise releasing on July 4th. Some of the merchandise featuring Gelatoni will be soft toys, mugs, and tote bags. Also available inside the park will be gelato sundaes adorned with themed candies and nestled in cups featuring the new Disney feline.

Gelatoni has even been given a back story to go along with Duffy’s tale. Duffy who was given to Mickey from Minnie to keep him company voyaging the sea. Gelatoni met Duffy for the first time when the teddy bear dropped his gelato on the ground. The artistic feline used the spilled frozen treat to paint a picture with his tail and cheer up his new acquaintance.

So far Gelatoni is not performing in any shows, or hosting meet and greets and is a Japan only character.

Would you like Gelatoni to make an appearance at other Disney parks? I know I would!

Disney 101: Educational Vacations at Walt Disney World

mission space
mission space

GalleryV1_Epcot-05mission_space

Many parents consider taking their kids out of school for a trip to Walt Disney World. Some families homeschool and during their visits to Walt Disney World they incorporate the experiences they have into an educational opportunity. As a college professor, I am one to believe that people never stop learning. Even while having loads of fun at WDW, people (especially children) are soaking up lots and lots of information that adds to their  knowledge banks!

Walt Disney World is eminently fun and around every corner there are lessons to be learned, educational examples to be used, and teaching moments to share. Here are just a few ways you can make your next trip an educational experience. Keep in mind that there are activities for all levels of learning. No matter what grade your student is in, they can have an educational experience at Walt Disney World!

*Disclaimer: I highly recommend that you discuss topics and areas that your children are covering in class and do some research to make a plan to incorporate those topics into the activities you participate in during your trip. With advanced notice, many teachers are probably willing to help you make some plans for fun and educational activities at Disney World.

Language Arts:Unless your trip is a surprise, you can invite your student(s) to help you prepare and plan for your vacation. If your child has advanced reading skills, purchase or borrow one or two of the many guide books on the market. Have them read the books and make a list of their preferred activities and restaurants. If your child is at a lower reading level, invite them to search the planning sites with you. You can read easy-level Disney books with your child about the characters and themes you will experience during your trip.

During the vacation, there are many opportunities to incorporate language arts into your experience. There are signs, symbols, and instructions all over the parks and resorts. There are plenty of reading opportunities. Here are a few ideas for different reading levels:

Beginning:

1. Show your child the purple Disney Dining Plan symbol. Make it a game for them to identify that symbol at various restaurants and shops.

2. Look for hidden Mickeys! An important skill when it comes to learning to read it to recognize symbols and signs. Hidden Mickeys are a great way to teach children to look for symbols.

3. Attend shows. Storytelling is a great way to foster a love for language arts in your children. Enchanted Tales with Belle, Beauty and the Beast Live on Stage, Finding Nemo the Musical, and the Little Mermaid attraction at Hollywood Studios are great storytelling experiences.

Intermediate:

1. Reading signs and instructions on attractions and throughout the resort can be done very easily. Point out signs for your child to read. There are many opportunities for this throughout Epcot and Animal Kingdom, especially.

2. Keep a travel journal. Have your child write down their daily experiences and retell their adventures in a notebook. Record what they have experienced, what they have eaten, who they have met, and what they have learned everyday.

3. Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom game is a great way for intermediate readers to get in some reading and critical thinking skills while having fun. I have found this activity to be one of the sneakiest ways to get my kids to do something educational while on vacation! They don’t even know that it is reading and problem-solving!

Advanced:

1. Pack some fun books and have your child read for 30 minutes before going to sleep, or during breakfast before heading to the parks. Even comic books and magazines are perfectly acceptable sources of reading.

2. Keep a more detailed travel journal. Incorporate and encourage your older children to engage in conversation with others and have them write about those experiences. Have them write about what they would like to see during a future visit, or what they would have done differently during the current trip. Critical thinking involves thinking and questioning and writing it in a journal is a great way to commit those skills to memory.

3. Take a tour like Behind the Seeds and encourage your child to take notes. Note-taking builds critical writing skills and vocabulary development.

Math:

There are activities that can be incorporated for all ages and levels that include numbers and calculations.

1. Simple tasks such as measuring their height for certain attractions introduces numbers and comprehension into mundane activities.

2. Penny press machines can be a great way to teach the value of quarters and pennies.

3. Counting any random object is also a good way to incorporate number skills into a trip. How many tigers are in view at Animal Kingdom? How many floors are there on the elevator at Grand Floridian? Just count and count and count.

4. Have your child tally the price of meals, including tip percentages.

5. Calculate times and transportation distances for fast passes, reservations, and getting across the resort to meet those times. Anytime you have to think about numbers, invite your child to think with you.

6. Prior to the trip you can think of some story problems to work on while waiting in line.

7. Make a treasure hunt at Walt Disney World out of math questions. Example: Have a problem that has the answer “999” then incorporate that into a clue that leads them to the Haunted Mansion!

Social Studies:

Epcot and Animal Kingdom are treasure troves of social studies opportunities. Your child can learn about global cultures throughout those two parks. Even at Magic Kingdom the ride,  It’s a Small World,  teaches about diversity and language. There are historical references throughout Liberty Square and Frontierland as well. Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios also offer other history lessons in a fun, interactive way:  Carousel of Progress, Hall of Presidents, Walt: One Man’s Dream, Great Movie Ride, and Backlot Tour. Also, maps of the parks and resorts offer a great geography lesson. Talk to your kids about all of these things as you experience them during your vacation.

Extras:

At Hollywood Studios, you can take a drawing class and create your own sketch of a Disney character. Visit the same class more than once because the character often changes throughout the day. You can also incorporate art lessons into your vacation by encouraging sketching during wait times, or for young visitors, participating in the Kidcot activity at each country in World Showcase. For physical education, you can wear a pedometer and record how many steps and miles you walk daily. High school students can incorporate physics into ride experiences and zoology or ecology at Animal Kingdom. Literally, around every corner there is a lesson to be learned at Disney World.

Have you experienced WDW from an educational perspective? Share your ideas with us. I am one to believe that we are always learning, no matter if we mean to or not. Why not turn your next trip into an educational adventure?!

Disney Channel’s I Didn’t Do It Renewed for a Second Season!

SARAH GILMAN, AUSTIN NORTH, OLIVIA HOLT, PEYTON CLARK, PIPER CURDA
Disney Channel has ordered a second season of the comedy series “I Didn’t Do It,” starring popular actress and recording artist Olivia Holt (Disney XD’s “Kickin’ It”), Austin North, Piper Curda, Peyton Clark, and Sarah Gilman. It was announced today by Adam Bonnett, Executive Vice President, Original Programming, Disney Channels Worldwide. The series premiered in January and season to date is Disney Channel’s #1 series among Tweens 9-14 (a tie) and ranks among the network’s Top 5 series with both Kids 2-11 and Kids 6-11. New episodes of “I Didn’t Do It” premiere SUNDAYS (8:30 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel.

In making the announcement, Bonnett said, “These five actors have an extraordinary bond on screen and off. Our audience loves watching their chemistry as BFFs who get into the most ridiculous situations every week, all while navigating the challenging world of high school.”

Each episode begins with the close-knit group of five teenagers in the midst of a wild occurrence – something incredible, something so comically absurd, it has them trying to explain away the craziness. Through a series of flashbacks, they recount the various and sometimes random moments leading up to their present predicament.

“I Didn’t Do It” was created by Tod Himmel (“90210,” “The Starter Wife”) and Josh Silverstein (“So Random!”) and is a production of It’s a Laugh Productions, Inc.

Stay tuned for more I Didn’t Do It!

Do you love Disney? What do you love the best?

Is it walking through the parks hand in hand with your little ones singing the Tiki Room song? How about sitting down on a Friday night with a bowl of popcorn and watching Frozen for the 50th time?

It doesn’t matter what makes you a Disney Addict we are just glad you are!

A few years ago the gang here at Chip and Co created a fun Facebook Group called You Might Be a Disney Addict or YMBADA. Over the years that group has grown by leaps and bounds! Fans love sharing their love of Disney with pictures, thoughts, and ideas. Also one thing we have noticed is people ask LOTS of questions. Questions about the parks, Disney products, you name it.

My admins over on Disney Addicts do an awesome job directing people where to get answers, not to mention the other Disney Addicts do a killer job helping people as well, but if you have been in the group for any length of time you see how posts will disappear due to the sheer number of posting happening at any given time.

Well I have noticed a need and came up with an idea…

Now the Disney Addicts have a home away from home… A brand new site where you can Ask us your Disney Questions and get answers from our knowledgeable staff and fellow travel agents.

We can help you with:

  • Park & Travel Related Questions
  • Disney Merchandise, Movies, and More…
  • We can even share our top pics for best places to eat or visit in the parks!

All you have to do is visit www.disneyaddicts.com at the top of the page you can ask us Your Disney Question! All questions are searchable and indexed to help you find them when you need them! I even created a new Facebook Page just for Disney Addicts.

So head on over, visit the site, and Ask us a Disney Question. There is no question too big or too small.

I hope to see you there!

Disney Publishing Worldwide Announces Novel Based “Descendants”

DESCENDANTS 4 SHOT
DESCENDANTS 4 SHOT

Disney Descendants

More Disney villain action is on the way with an upcoming novel based on the Disney Channel Original Movie “Descendants”. Late last year Disney announced an original movie coming in 2015 titled “Descendants”. The movie will be featuring the teenage children of Disney’s most infamous villains.

Disney Publishing Worldwide has confirmed that they will be launching a novel titled “Isle of The Lost” to be written by bestselling author Melissa de la Cruz (THE WITCHES OF EAST END, BLUE BLOODS). This novel will be a prequel to the story told in the upcoming film that is premiering on the Disney Channel in 2015.

Legend has it that long ago, the most infamous villains were imprisoned on the Isle of the Lost, cut off from the rest of the world as a punishment for their misdeeds. In this dark and dreary place, the likes of Maleficent, Jafar, Cruella de Vil and the Evil Queen reside and evil reigns supreme. Mal, Evie, Jay, and Carlos are their descendants, the teenaged sons and daughters of the Isle’s most villainous characters, and they are coming of age on the Isle of the Lost.

A first look at the villains children in "Descendants"
A first look at the villains children in “Descendants”

Disney Publishing Worldwide SVP and Group Publisher Jeanne Mosure, with Disney Channel conceived a prequel that would act as a lead up to the new movie.  Mosure Then tasked De la Cruz and her longtime editor, Emily Meehan of Hyperion, to the project of painting the back story for the book with the film’s creative team.

Says de la Cruz, “I’m absolutely thrilled and honored to have been chosen for this fantastic project and to once again be working with Disney Publishing with whom I‘ve had a long and wonderful relationship, and to be partnering with Disney Channel is beyond amazing. The opportunity to write and expand the story with these beloved characters is a dream come true for this Disney aficionado!” Adds Mosure, “It’s a joy to be working synergistically with the brilliant team at Disney Channel, who have helmed some of the highest rated films in cable TV history, and have allowed us to bring our creative engine to the table to help enhance this delightful story featuring classic Disney heritage characters.”

This wickedly delightful book will be swooping in as a hardcover original and goes on sale May 5, 2015.
