Class Action Lawsuit Challenges Disney’s New Disability Access Policies

High prices at Disneyland and Disney World are causing a growing number of Disney fans to rethink return trips, according to a Wall Street Journal report. Despite discounts and promotions, the cost of tickets and in-park extras has made Disney vacations increasingly unaffordable for many Americans, leading to a decline in repeat visits. The report suggests Disneyland, in particular, has become one of the world’s most expensive destinations, prompting many fans to reconsider their future plans.
“Internal discussions over whether Disney parks may be losing their grip on the hearts and wallets of families with young kids have become more frequent,” according to the Wall Street Journal.
Disney’s own surveys reveal a sharp decline in planned return trips to its U.S. theme parks, the Wall Street Journal reports. Starting in 2023, fewer visitors expressed intentions to return to Walt Disney World and Disneyland, suggesting a cooling enthusiasm among even the most devoted Disney fans.
Disney is actively working to boost return visit intentions, using discounts and promotions to try and improve the concerning survey results, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Despite the declining return visits, Disney maintains that most guest surveys still rate Walt Disney World as a good to great value for the price, according to the Wall Street Journal.
“The number-one thing we hear from the millions of guests who visit our parks each year is how much a Disney vacation means to them and we intentionally offer a wide variety of ticket, hotel and dining options to welcome as many families as possible whatever their budget,” Disney Parks chairman Josh D’Amaro said in statement released by the company. “We also know that in inflationary times it’s especially important to give families ways to save on their visits.”
The Wall Street Journal reports that Disney theme park attendance growth has slowed in recent years. Disney CFO Hugh Johnson has described this slowdown as a “hiccup.” To entice visitors, Disneyland is currently offering a $50 kids ticket deal through March 20th and $199 3-day passes for Southern California residents through May 15th. Notably, Disneyland has held its lowest-priced one-day, one-park ticket at $104 since 2019.

EPCOT’s Manatee Exhibit Reopens with Short-Term Rehab Focus
Two new manatees have arrived at EPCOT’s The Seas with Nemo & Friends! The manatee exhibit has reopened, marking a new chapter in Disney’s commitment to manatee conservation. This reopening follows the temporary closure after Lil Joe and Inigo’s relocation.
Disney’s long-standing commitment to manatee care has evolved. For decades, their marine care program provided long-term housing and rehabilitation. Now, in partnership with the Manatee Rescue & Rehabilitation Partnership (MRP) and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), Disney has transitioned to short-term, critical rehabilitation. This new focus allows them to provide crucial temporary care for manatees recovering from life-threatening situations before their release back into the wild.
“As strandings increase, critical care facilities are becoming overwhelmed, so by shifting our focus, we open up space at The Seas for more of those urgent cases,” said Dr. Jen, a veterinarian at Walt Disney World. “This helps relieve pressure on overcrowded facilities, supports the MRP’s efforts, and boosts our contribution to manatee conservation.”
Cider and Mino are the first manatees to arrive at EPCOT under the exhibit’s new rehabilitation model. Their stay is expected to last six to nine months, with the goal of releasing them back into the wild during the food-rich winter months.
Disney’s Animal Health Director, Dr. Geoff, explained the program’s focus: “Our role begins once critical and acute care has been completed. At that point, we may receive a stable manatee that simply needs some time to grow or gain weight before being released. The hope is that no manatee remains with us for too long — our goal is to ensure they are healthy and strong enough for a successful release back into the wild.”
The Seas with Nemo & Friends has undergone significant improvements to provide the best possible care for recovering manatees. A new medical lift floor allows veterinarians to perform health checks easily, while access to Disney’s on-site veterinary hospital and its CT scanner enable advanced diagnostics. Disney’s Water Sciences team also ensures optimal water quality with a state-of-the-art filtration system.
The transition to short-term critical care for manatees at EPCOT is part of a larger effort to protect Florida’s endangered manatee population. The need is critical: between 2020 and 2022, over 2,000 manatees died due to habitat loss, food scarcity, and environmental threats like red tide. While 2024 has brought some improvement, manatee calf mortality, especially in areas like Brevard County’s Indian River Lagoon, remains a concern.
“In rehabilitation, success isn’t just about releasing animals — it’s about seeing them thrive once they’re back in the wild,” Dr. Geoff said. “That’s what I love about the manatee program: they track the animals long-term. With manatees, we get to see months later that they’re still out there thriving. That’s the true measure of success for us.”

Star Wars Season of the Force Returns to Disneyland in 2025
Calling all travelers from across the galaxy! The limited-time Season of the Force event returns to Disneyland Park from March 28 to May 11, 2025! Get ready for exciting new experiences, including a nighttime adventure in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the arrival of a first-time Batuu visitor, plus new food, drinks, merchandise, and more!
In Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, the new nightly projection show “Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga” will debut on March 28, taking guests on a storytelling adventure across the galaxy.
Stunning projection effects transform the spires of Batuu near the Millennium Falcon evoking memories of some of the greatest moments in galactic history as an iconic musical score, comprised of familiar themes heard throughout the films of the Skywalker saga, draws the audience into the legendary story of the Skywalkers. Joining other familiar encounters in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, for the first time, a shadowy visitor will appear on Batuu for a limited time. Wearing what seem to be Jedi robes, there are rumors it might be the legendary Luke Skywalker!
Continuing in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge on select nights, “Fire of the Rising Moons” is a nighttime experience that showcases a different view of the stunning Disneyland park fireworks display, with musical accompaniment.
During this special gathering, villagers and visitors come together to celebrate their freedom and to honor the heroes and legends of the galaxy who came before them. As the skies over Batuu light up in bursts of color, imaginations are ignited with the iconic music associated with tales from across the galaxy.
Including selections from composer John Williams’ Star Wars film scores, “Fire of the Rising Moons” can be experienced from multiple areas in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, including the Black Spire Spaceport, the TIE Echelon docking platform and the speeder garage. Season of the Force Ride Overlays and Epic Adventures
Space Mountain will transform into a high-speed Star Wars adventure when Hyperspace Mountain returns to Tomorrowland for a limited time through May 11. Fend off crossfire from swarms of Rebel X-wing starfighters and Imperial TIE fighters amidst an intergalactic onslaught! Want to speed ahead with shorter wait times? Hyperspace Mountain is included with the purchase of Lightning Lane Multi Passand Lightning Lane Premier Pass, subject to availability.
Star Tours – The Adventures Continue in Tomorrowland features characters and locations from some of your favorite Disney+ series — “Ahsoka,” “Andor,” and “The Mandalorian.” You can experience one of more than 250 storyline variations aboard the attraction, including a visit to the planet Seatos from the Ahsoka series. Urgent transmissions from Ahsoka Tano, Cassian Andor, Din Djarin and Grogu may also be part of your next Starspeeder flight.
All year long and during Season of the Force, you are invited to live out your own Star Wars story in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge! Fly the Millennium Falcon on a thrilling interactive smuggling mission, join the Resistance in a climactic battle against the First Order at Stars Wars: Rise of the Resistance, encounter familiar faces and explore a remote outpost where adventure awaits.

Among the new merchandise releases will be a Hyperspace Mountain t-shirt available only at Disneyland park for a limited time. Locations include The Star Trader and Spaceport in Tomorrowland and Emporium on Main Street, U.S.A.
Savi’s Workshop – Handbuilt Lightsabers will debut a brand-new storyline called “Reclaimed and Reforged” for a limited time beginning May 4. Guests will be able to build their own Lightsabers from scraps that have been scavenged by different pirates throughout the galaxy and made their way to Batuu. Purchase is required and advanced reservations are highly encouraged for this experience.
Droid Depot is stocked with parts, chips and more to assemble your own droid, including a BB-series, C-series or R-series unit, giving you the tools to build your own droid. Purchase is required. Incoming transmission: Droid Depot will welcome walkups from around the galaxy anytime, no reservations required.
