The Chip and Co Tee Shirt Store is now open for business. Each week we are going to be highlighting some of my favorite shirts from some really creative designers on Tee Public. This week I wanted to start off with a few of my own designs.

Disney donates

The Walt Disney World Resort is committed to making a difference in the community. In 2014, that commitment added up to a record $37.9 million in Disney’s cash and in-kind donations aimed at strengthening local children and families.

“Here at Walt Disney World Resort, our Cast Members are honored to give back to the community in a variety of ways – from supporting our schools to grants for local nonprofits to the countless hours our VoluntEARS devote to the causes close to their hearts,” said Nancy Gidusko, director of corporate citizenship for Walt Disney World Resort.

Check it out:

As part of its support for Central Florida, Walt Disney World Resort donated a total of $3.8 million in grants, sponsorships, event support and other contributions through Disney Grants in the past year. The 87 local organizations, including five school districts, selected as grant recipients support children and families by promoting the arts, economic development and basic health and wellness needs. More than 85,460 children throughout Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Lake and Polk counties will benefit from Disney Grants donations in the coming year.

Adding to the Company’s community impact were more than 150,000 hours Disney VoluntEARS gave toward improving the lives of Central Floridians in the past year. Whether donating millions of school supplies to local students or serving more than 9,000 meals to the homeless, Cast Members enthusiastically supported a variety of nonprofits and community groups.

In honor of their service, Disney gave more than $1 million to hundreds of Central Florida nonprofits through the company’s EARS to You grant program. The annual grants recognize Cast Members’ VoluntEAR service with a contribution of up to $2,000 to the eligible charity of the volunteer’s choice. Top EARS to You grant recipients in 2014 include Give Kids the World, the Pet Alliance of Central Florida (formerly known as SPCA of Central Florida), A Gift for Teaching and Central Florida Community Arts. In addition, Disney recognizes a VoluntEAR of the Year and VoluntEAR Team of the Year each year with $2,500 cash donations to the charity of their choice.

Other Disney contributions in 2014 include more than 720,000 pounds of prepared, un-served food collected and distributed to local food banks through the Disney Harvest program. Walt Disney World Resort also continued to help meet the needs of nonprofit organizations with more than $14 million in in-kind donations, such as clothing, industrial equipment, home and office furniture, and personal hygiene items.

F.Y.I. Did you know that the Disney World Resort has around 75,000 Cast Members!

Don’t you just love how Disney is always spreading the magic?

Meet Disney Junior’s New Latina Princess – Princess Elena of Avalor

Disney junior latina princess Elena

Disney Junior Latina Princess Elena

Princess Elena of Avalor is a confident and compassionate teenager in an enchanted fairytale kingdom inspired by diverse Latin cultures and folklore. She will be introduced in a special episode of Disney Junior‘s hit series “Sofia the First” beginning production now for a 2016 premiere. That exciting story arc will usher in the 2016 launch of the animated series “Elena of Avalor,” a production of Disney Television Animation.

The role of 16-year-old Princess Elena, the bold, caring, funny and clever ascendant to the throne in the fairytale kingdom of Avalor, will be voiced by Aimee Carrero (ABC Family’s “Young & Hungry”).

As with all Disney Junior programming, “Elena of Avalor” stories will be guided by an established curriculum that nurtures multiple areas of child development: physical, emotional, social and cognitive; thinking and creative skills, as well as moral and ethical development. Created for kids age 2-7 and their families, the stories are designed to communicate positive messages and life lessons that are applicable to young children about leadership, resilience, diversity, compassion and the importance of family and family traditions.

The series will be presented in 25 languages on Disney Junior channels and daily programming blocks for kids age 2-7 on Disney Channels, among other platforms, in 154 countries around the world. On television alone, its estimated daily reach will be over 207-million households.

Princess Elena’s journey began long ago when her parents and kingdom were taken from her by the evil sorceress, Shuriki. Elena bravely faced the sorceress to protect her little sister, Princess Isabel, and grandparents but in the process, her magical amulet pulled her inside its enchanted jewel, saving her life but imprisoning her at the same time. Decades later, Princess Sofia of Enchancia discovers the truth about the amulet she has worn since joining her royal family and sets out to restore Elena to her human form and help her return to the kingdom of Avalor.

While Elena is the rightful heir to the throne, she is only age 16 so she will rule Avalor with the help of a Grand Council comprised of her Grandfather Tito, Grandmother Cici and Royal Advisor, Duke Esteban.

With some magical friends by her side – Mateo, a wizard-in-training, and Skylar, a magical flying creature – Princess Elena’s further adventures will lead her to understand that her new role requires thoughtfulness, resilience and compassion, the traits of all truly great leaders.

“Elena of Avalor” is executive-produced by Craig Gerber (of the Emmy Award-nominated “Sofia the First”). Silvia Cardenas Olivas (“Moesha,” “The Brothers Garcia”), an alumna of the National Hispanic Media Coalition’s Television Writers Program, is the story editor, and Elliot M. Bour (“The Little Engine That Could”) is the supervising director. The series’ cultural advisors are Doris Sommer, Harvard University professor and Director of Graduate Studies in Spanish; and Marcela Davison Aviles, Managing Director and Executive Producer, El Camino Project, an international Latino arts initiative.

The series is a spin-off of “Sofia the First,” which has delivered the two highest-rated telecasts in cable TV history among Kids 2-5 and Girls 2-5, and the #2 preschooler cable TV telecast ever in Total Viewers, Adults 18-40 and Women 18-49.

I love this!

Wishing you Faith, Trust, and Pixie Dust

Is Chris Pratt The New Indiana Jones?

cp

Chris Pratt as the new Indiana Jones?  With Walt Disney Pictures purchasing the Indiana Jones franchise rights from Paramount a few years ago, rumors are starting to circulate that Disney has plans for an all new Indiana Jones and Chris Pratt is who the studio wants to head up the role.  Now that Pratt has proven he has what it takes to play the leading man, with his incredible performance in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy .

Chris Pratt who stars with Denzel Washington MGM’s “The Magnificent Seven” out in April is also getting ready to reprise his role in the sequel to Guardians of the Galaxy.   Although still the in the very early stages and for now more rumor than fact, we will have to wait for confirmation of a new Indiana Jones production.

What do you think of Pratt as the all new Indie?  My name is Loretta Garcia and I am the Entertainment Writer for Chip and co.   Are you receiving our newsletter full of updates, news and promos?

Mrs. Doubtfire - Das stachelige KindermŠdchen

Disney Producer and Music Composer Alan Menken, shared the news on EW Radio a few days ago that he is working on the musical, Mrs. Doubtfire.   Menken said “it’s in the its early stages” but it looks like with the music from Alan Menken and song lyrics from David Zippel, this is going to be one incredible musical.

Casting for the musical has not been announced yet, but Harvey Fierstein who is a veteran Broadway writer and actor and appeared in Mrs. Doubtfire as Robin Williams’ brother who helped him with the transformation, is writing the book for the stage version.

Based on the comedy which starred Robin Williams as a male voice actor, who disguises himself as an elderly female nanny to take care of his kids, after he and his wife are separated.  Williams performance of Mrs. Doubtfire was one of, if not his most memorable role.
