Tron Fans are excited about Tron 3

Walt Disney Pictures has given the thumbs up for a new Tron movie which starts filming in the Vancouver area in the Fall. There is not much information yet, but we do know that the role of Sam Flynn will be played by Garrett Hedlund and that Director Joseph Kosinski is on board.

Tron 3 would have to include Olivia Wilde and Bruce Boxleitner if it continues where Tron: Legacy left off but what about Jeff Bridges? Rumor has it that Kosinski is talking about a whole new take on Tron 3 and has compared it to the Empire Strikes Back. Which leads us to believe it can very well take on a whole different direction.

Tron: Legacy left us with Sam and Quorra escaping virtual reality and getting back to the “real world”, so the question is where does Tron 3 take us? Do we get to see Quorra (Olivia Wilde) and Sam continue their adventures or will there new characters and storylines?

And the biggest question on Tron fans’ minds is – what about the soundtrack? Daft Punk’s work on Tron: Legacy was instrumental in the movie’s popularity, which makes sense to have them on Tron 3. Or does Kosinski already have the soundtrack with the unused music from Tron: Legacy. This Entertainment Writer has so many questions that need to be answered. New Trailer for Disney’s Inside out movie

Walt Disney Pictures * Pixar Studios is sharing a new trailer from their upcoming movie “Inside Out” Ellen DeGeneres hosted guests Amy Poehler and Bill Hader today on her daytime show. Visit Ellentube.com or EllenTV to see what they had to say. Amy and Bill talked about the opportunity of working together again. Bill said he is a Pixar “nerd” and took a tour of Pixar Studios. During the tour, he met director, Pete Docter , during a story meeting and it resulted in the offer to play “Fear”. Amy joined in later as “Joy” and said it was “truly the most satisfying experience I’ve had in film” saying the movie had really great writting, crazy collaboration and also just like… the movie message is so beautiful.”

Disney Pictures / Pixar’s original movie, “Inside Out” takes us to one of the most unique locations since 20,000 leagues under the sea, inside the mind. Bringing us the story of Riley and her struggles moving from her Midwest life to San Francisco. Riley deals with the changes and turmoil with the help of her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind. Joy, the main and most important emotion tries to keep things positive, but with the adjustments comes conflict inside “Headquarters” as all the emotions try to deal with how best to work through a new school, city and home. Directed by Oscar®-winner Pete Docter “Inside Out” opens in theaters on June 19, 2015

The trailer is full of color and new ideas as to what the inside of the brain and our feelings might look like. I already have a favorite part – a look at headquarters during a “brain freeze”. Two Restaurants Expand as Downtown Disney Transforms Into Disney Springs

Big changes are coming to Planet Hollywood and Paradiso 37 at Downtown Disney. Paradiso 37 is finishing up their expansion in summer 2015. Planet Hollywood’s expansion will take a bit longer and will be finishing in spring 2016.

Paradiso 37’s expansion capitalizes on its beautiful waterfront setting. “We’re nearly doubling the seating, adding more terrace dining, a new outdoor performance stage and expanding to add a greater presence on the new Disney Springs promenade,” said Rashid Choufani, chief executive officer of Paradiso 37.

The menu, a “Taste of the Americas,” will continue to offer a culinary tour of North, Central and South America, with popular dishes including ceviche, jalapeño burgers, Argentinian skirt steak, whole crispy chicken and Chilean-style salmon. Beverages include wine, beer, and specialty rum and tequila cocktails inspired by the cuisine. (The restaurant takes its name from the 37 countries in the Americas.)

Paradiso 37 will remain open while undergoing renovations.

Planet Hollywood is getting a complete makeover, so much so that you may not recognize the place as it’s transformed into a 4 story stargazing observatory to match the design aesthetic of Disney Springs. While the exterior is turn-of-the-century, the interior will feature spherical, planet-shaped lighting fixtures and stylish finishing to create a welcoming atmosphere for fans to celebrate a new generation of superstar entertainers. And the memorabilia from movies stays, a perfect fit to “Dine Amongst the Stars.”

Planet Hollywood is getting a new outdoor terrace and outdoor bar space called Stargazers which will feature live entertainment while music in the main dining room will include a DJ. Favorites remain on the menu, but look for new tastes too, and a trendy beverage menu – everything from milkshakes and smoothies to wines, bottled and draft beers and cocktails.

Star Wars announces the first gay character!

Star Wars Universe has welcomed the first gay character in the new upcoming novel “Lords of the Sith“. Moff Mors joins the force as a capable but flawed Imperial official who “also happens to be a lesbian.” This is the first gay figure approved by Disney according to Shelly Shapiro who is the editor of “Star Wars” books at Random House. Although the book series and some of the video games have had gay relationships, this is the first “official” gay “Star Wars” world character.

Star Wars is full of diversity and different species, so it should come as no surprise that they will incorporate the gay and minority characters into the story line. Star Wars has not always been as diverse in the opinion of many. The first film was criticized for the lack of minority roles. But critics are not happy with the need to add this type of diversity while supporters are saying it is about time. Regardless of what side you stand on this is a big step for Disney and Star Wars to take. Based on the controversy surrounding the addition of John Boyega as a stormtrooper in the upcoming film, adding a gay character can go either way, and result in a lose of fans or addition of new ones.

The storyline for “Lords of the Sith” coming out later this year is still vague but does not mention a gay character. But in this Entertainment Writer’s opinion, the addition of a gay character should not be the reason to be or not to be a fan. Instead we should look forward to the character for what she brings to the story line instead of how much controversy it will bring.

Cinderella Live Action Movie is beyond Magical

Walt Disney Pictures has done it again! The live action Cinderella movie coming to theatres, March 13, 2015 is beyond magical! The story of Cinderella is one we all grew up with and know very well. It is the story most little girls dream about, finding their prince charming and living in a castle. In the live action re-make, Disney has taken all the magic onto the screen and has left this fan and audience members of all ages, believing in happily ever after again.

The story follows the original animated movie – however, the live action version takes things up quite a few notches. The costumes, especially Ella’s blue dress and the ball scenes were incredible and gave me the same butterfly feelings of excitement and wonder as when Elsa stomped her foot and “made” her ice castle in Frozen.

The dance during the ball with Ella and the handsome Prince was what dreams are made of. Not to take away the other incredible scenes, like when Lady Tremaine discovers Ella’s glass slipper or other surprises which I will not spoil. Suffice it to say that Prince Kit is everything we dream of in a Prince.

The acting was superb, with Lily James portraying a young and innocent Ella, Richard Madden as the handsome Prince Kit, with piercing blue eyes that will make you melt in your seat and Cate Blanchard as Lady Tremaine. The costumes were regal and the perfect colors for each occasion. The royal outfit worn by the Prince at the ball was a perfect compliment to Cinderella’s blue gown and his blue eyes. Cate Blanchett’s gowns and hats gave her an air of sophistication with just the right look to make her beautiful but yet still evil. The step sisters with their own matching unique styles made for quite a few laughs.

There are several memorable scenes, some that made my heart ache for Cinderella. The worse one being when Lady Tremaine shatters the glass slipper. The feeling of love during the dance at royal ball, and the ending where Prince Kit comes to Cinderella’s rescue will make you fall in love again. However, the best part of the movie for me was when the fairy godmother, waved her wand and the magic began, From the lizard footmen, to the goose driver it was one funny moment after another. With the highlight being, the look of wonder and amazement on my oldest grand daughter’s face during the transformation of the pumpkin into the beautiful gold carriage. While the little one sat frozen, watching the butterflies change Ella’s tattered dress into a ball gown with a glazed, dreamy look in her eyes. Moments like these had me in tears and are what makes Disney the best. Walt Disney Pictures has taken the story of Cinderella to new heights. I can’t wait to see what they do with Beauty and the Beast.

Disney’s Hollywood Studios name change in the works

First, we bid adieu to the Sorcerer’s Hat, now we are saying sayonara to something else….the name of the park itself, Hollywood Studios!!! Disney CEO, Bob Iger, let it slip that a name change is in the works. It’s ok, we’ve been here before. Anyone remember MGM Studios? I know I do. Waaaaay back then, I had the privilege of being in the Disney College Program. I worked at Aladdin’s Restaurant in MGM Studios. Anyone remember Aladdin’s? It was in the soundstage where Playhouse Disney is now located. I’ll admit, it took me forever to transition from calling it MGM to calling it Hollywood Studios. But I made it work. There are still some who can’t break the habit. It always makes me smile to see posts referring to Hollywood Studios as MGM on our facebook page, You Might be a Disney Addict (YMBADA)

When the park opened in 1989, Disney introduced us to “Disney-MGM Studios,” a working film production set combined with a theme park. In 2008, the name changed to “Disney’s Hollywood Studios,” as a result of a legal wrangling with MGM in regards to a misunderstanding of a licensing agreement from 1985. Now, here we are in 2015 and the park has transitioned from a working production facility for movies and television shows and satellite animation to, well, how can I break this to you, more of a theme park! Ok, now that we’ve all settled in with that, we can begin guessing what the name will be. This is a tough one for Disney execs. I mean, no Baby Name books to pour over for nine months. They really have to think this one through. I took to YMBADA for some formal brain-storming. The DAs (Disney Addicts) overwhelmingly agreed upon-

Only Have ONE Adult Day To Spend At Disney World? Then Follow This Plan…

Last week I wrote about how you could do “Disney in a day” with your family, but since my husband and I and many other couples and groups out there travel to Walt Disney World with just adults, I thought it might be nice to look at how an “adults only” group could spend a day at Disney World

First things first – the basics still apply whether you’re traveling with a kids or just adults:

Make sure you’re making the most of your time by planning to be there the WHOLE day (like from open to close – so you don’t miss any of the magic!)
Dress wisely – sneakers and lightweight comfortable clothes are a must, as is packing sunglasses, a hat, and a poncho
Pack smart – bring sunscreen, water bottles, snacks – and make sure they’re packed in an easy to carry lightweight bag
Don’t try to do it all – All 4 Parks in one day may seem doable, but it will leave you dog tired, and you will enjoy the things you do more if you take your time and stick to no more than 2 Parks.

Ok – now that we’ve laid the groundwork – let’s talk itinerary:

Start out your day by arriving at the Magic Kingdom when it opens – and head straight to your top attractions and rides and get those ridden first thing while the waits aren’t too long. Then you can take a breakfast break (a good money saver here would be to bring it with you!), and plan your next move – rides like Pirates of the Caribbean, The Haunted Mansion, and the People Mover rarely have a long wait and are all good picks for later in the morning once the crowds start to arrive
Plan to take a bit of a break with a nice sit down lunch – if your group is into characters, then maybe a buffet with Pooh and friends at the Crystal Palace would be the ticket (which is totally acceptable for adults, not just kids so don’t be self-conscious!). But if you’re thinking that something more…grown up might be the ticket, then why not head to one of the Disney Resorts for a leisurely, relaxing meal? Big River Grille and Brewing Works over at Disney’s Boardwalk Resort is a fully operating brewery that offers casual delicious food as well as their own custom beers (many of which have been worked into their recipes too!), or you can hop a monorail over to the Ma href=http://www.chipandco.com/planning/guide-to-disney-world/resorts/disney-deluxe-resort-hotels/polynesian-resort/>Polynesian Resort for some fresh sushi and Asian inspired dishes at Kona Café, or take the monorail a stop further to the Grand Floridian Resort’s Grand Floridian Café – which serves up steak, salad, and sandwiches in an idyllic setting. There are TONS of places to eat, and almost all of the sit down restaurants take Advance Dining Reservations – so be sure you are planning ahead and booking your meal well in advance
Once you’re full and ready to hit the Parks again, head over Disney’s Hollywood Studios – and this is where I recommend utilizing the fastpass system so that you can experience some of the more popular rides – like Tower of Terror and Rock’N’Roller Coaster. Hollywood Studios is a great place to spend the afternoon – strolling around and watching the performers, doing some shopping, seeing some shows and riding some rides – what could be better?
When the sun sets, then it’s time to head Downtown – to Downtown Disney that is – where you can do plenty of shopping at their huge selection of specialty stores, or take in a new release at the AMC movie theater, or do some bowling at Splittsville. You’ll probably be ready to eat again after all that excitement – and I HIGHLY recommend Raglan Road Irish Pub for dinner – a huge bar, delicious authentic Irish menu, and live music and Irish dancers – it’s a great place, and the perfect place to unwind after a long day of walking at Disney. After dinner you can take a stroll for more shopping, more live music, and some drinks at the House of Blues – what a perfect end to the day, am I right?

If you’re planning on being in Florida on vacation, then I highly recommend you try to work in at least one full day at Walt Disney World – it’s well worth the trip, and it’s a great way to spend a day! (or a week, or a month, or a lifetime…you get the idea – WDW is amazing!)

Tim Burton directing new live action “Dumbo”

The news that Disney plans a remake of one of my favorites, “Dumbo” using live action and CGI with Tim Burton directing, had me alternating between excited and uneasy. I love the “uniqueness” that Tim Burton brings to movies, but Dumbo? The story of the little guy with big ears is a heart tugger that makes even the toughest of us, tear up. Granted it has a few scenes that would be perfect for Tim Burton, Imagine what Burton will do with the “Pink Elephants on Parade” scene.

So what can we expect from Dumbo a la Tim Burton? A dark version? A twist or an all new film full of Burton & Disney magic. If his work with Alice is any indication, we can expect another box office hit and plenty of surprises. Fans of Tim Burton’s work are already cheering while non-fans are worried, he will darken a Disney Classic.

Dumbo is still in the early stages and has a long way to go before it hits the screen. What are your thoughts on Tim Burton as the director of Dumbo?

The live action Dumbo is the next in the series of Disney animated movies made into live action films. Alice, Maleficent, Cinderella have all been huge hits. The Jungle Book and Beauty in the Beast currently in production and now the announcement of Dumbo, will give Disney classics a new version for all to enjoy.

Disney Channel Greenlights New Show Best Friends Whenever!

Disney Channel has ordered the comedy series “Best Friends Whenever,” starring Landry Bender (Disney XD’s “Crash & Bernstein”) as Cyd, newcomer Lauren Taylor as Shelby and Gus Kamp (“Deadtime Stories: The Beast of Baskerville”) as Barry. Production begins in March for a premiere later this year.

“Best Friends Whenever” centers on teenagers Shelby and Cyd, who when a science experiment goes wrong, become unstuck in time, leaping forward and backward whenever they want – and sometimes even when they don’t. Now with the help of their next-door neighbor, teenage genius Barry, the girls must learn to master their awesome new power as they time-shift through high school.

The series was created by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas (both of Disney XD’s “Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja”). Michael Kaplan (“Dog With A Blog“), along with Elinoff and Thomas, will serve as executive producers. Shelley Jensen (“Austin & Ally,” “Good Luck Charlie”) will direct multiple episodes.
