Walt Disney World to Remain Closed on October 10th Due to Hurricane Milton
Walt Disney World Resort has announced that its theme parks and Disney Springs will remain closed on Thursday, October 10th, as Hurricane Milton continues to pose a significant threat to central Florida. This decision follows the resort’s phased closure of parks and Disney Springs on Wednesday afternoon.
We continue to closely monitor the path of Hurricane Milton. Based on the latest projection, we are making additional operational adjustments for the safety of our Guests and Cast Members.
The Walt Disney World Emergency Operations Center is connected to weather experts and community leaders. Please know these adjustments have been made in order to leave time for our Guests and Cast Members to return to their Resort hotels or homes safely hours before higher winds are expected to reach Central Florida.
On Wednesday, October 9, our theme parks and Disney Springs will be closed in phases beginning at 1:00 PM.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park will close at 1:00 PM.
Magic Kingdom park, EPCOT and Disney Springs will close at 2:00 PM.
Parking garages at Disney Springs will also close at 2:00 PM, and will remain unavailable during the storm.
On Thursday, October 10, our theme parks and Disney Springs will remain closed, and Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party will be cancelled (event tickets will be refunded).
For partially used multi-day tickets, ticket expiration dates will be adjusted to expire on October 11, 2025.
Disney Resort Hotel Closures
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground and the Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa will temporarily close beginning at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 9. They are likely to remain closed until Sunday, October 13.
Transportation
Walt Disney World Transportation will stop operating on Wednesday, October 9 after Disney Springs and the Walt Disney World theme parks close.
Minnie Van service will be temporarily unavailable beginning at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, October 9.
Limited Mears taxi service will be available to Walt Disney World Resort Guests.
Recreation
Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park, Winter Summerland Miniature Golf and Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf are closed on Wednesday, October 9, and will remain closed on Thursday, October 10. Disney’s Blizzard Beach water park remains closed for planned refurbishment.

Tornado Watch Issued for Orlando Theme Parks as Hurricane Milton Churns Toward Florida
A Tornado Watch has been issued for Central Florida, home to Walt Disney World Resort and Universal Orlando Resort, as Hurricane Milton approaches the state’s Gulf Coast. This watch signifies that conditions are favorable for the development of tornadoes in the area. Â
The watch is in effect through 9:00 pm today (Wednesday, October 9, 2024), as the storm’s outer bands begin to affect the region.
Hurricane Milton, currently a powerful Category 4 storm with sustained winds of 155 mph, is expected to make landfall late Wednesday night. The storm’s outer rainbands are already impacting central Florida, bringing heavy rainfall and gusty winds. As the storm moves inland, it is likely to spawn tornadoes, particularly in the right-front quadrant of the hurricane.
Both Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando remain open at this time, but they have announced closures and operational adjustments in anticipation of the hurricane’s impact.
Walt Disney World: The resort has implemented a phased closure of its theme parks and Disney Springs, starting Wednesday afternoon. Several resort hotels, including Fort Wilderness, have also been closed. It is anticipated that the parks will remain closed on Thursday.
Universal Orlando: Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure, and CityWalk will close early on Wednesday and remain closed on Thursday. Volcano Bay Water Park is closed on Wednesday and Thursday, and Halloween Horror Nights is canceled for both nights.

Osceola County Issues Curfew as Hurricane Milton Threatens Walt Disney World
Osceola County, Florida, which encompasses portions of Walt Disney World Resort, has declared a countywide curfew starting at 8:00 PM on Wednesday, October 9th, due to the impending arrival of Hurricane Milton. The curfew will remain in effect until at least 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 10th.
This curfew will directly affect guests staying at Walt Disney World Resort hotels located within Osceola County. Guests at these resorts, including Disney’s All-Star Resorts, will be required to remain in their rooms during the curfew hours.

The curfew applies to all residents of Osceola County, including those in Celebration, St. Cloud, and Kissimmee. Exemptions are in place for essential personnel, such as:
