Disneyland Hikes Ticket Prices, Citing Demand-Based Pricing

Disneyland Resort is raising ticket prices for some of its most popular options, citing a demand-based pricing model. While the California park’s entry-level ticket will hold steady at $104, the price it’s held for the past six years, other ticket tiers will see increases between $7 and $12. These higher-priced tickets, tied to periods of higher demand, will now range from $111 to $206 per day.

The park’s Magic Key annual pass program is also getting a price bump. Increases range from 6% to 20%, or $100 to $125 depending on the pass type, effective immediately.

This news comes as the Walt Disney Company faces ongoing scrutiny over the rising cost of its theme park experiences. Many consumers have expressed concerns about the affordability of Disney vacations, prompting the company to offer various discounts and promotions for off-peak travel periods.

Balancing Affordability and Demand

Disneyland defends its pricing strategy, highlighting its tiered ticket system and the availability of lower-priced options during slower seasons. Jessica Good, a Disneyland Resort spokesperson, stated, “We always provide a wide variety of ticket, dining and hotel options, and promotional offers throughout the year, to welcome as many families as possible.”

The company points out that a family of four can visit Disneyland for $308 during less crowded periods in January and February by taking advantage of the $104 base ticket price and a $50 kids ticket offer.

Magic Key Price Increases

The Magic Key annual pass program, which offers varying levels of park access and perks, will see the following price adjustments:

  • Imagine Key: $599 (a $100 increase)
  • Enchant Key: $974 (a $125 increase)
  • Believe Key: $1,374 (a $125 increase)
  • Inspire Key: $1,749 (a $100 increase)

Disney emphasized that Magic Key holders will continue to receive benefits such as early access to the upcoming Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, discounts on Lightning Lane passes, and savings on merchandise, food, and parking.

No Changes for Walt Disney World…Yet

While Disneyland is implementing these price increases, Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida, has not announced any immediate changes. However, Disney’s online ticketing website for Walt Disney World already reflects price increases for 2025, which were reported earlier this year.

Marley, the American crocodile who called DinoLand U.S.A. home, has officially been removed from his former habitat as Disney’s Animal Kingdom gears up for big changes. The pool that once housed Marley has been drained, and the informational sign about him and his species has also been taken down, signaling the beginning of preparations for the upcoming land, Pueblo Esperanza.

At this time, Disney has not confirmed where Marley will be relocated, but there are plenty of possibilities. With various animal trails like The Oasis Exhibits, Discovery Island Trails, Maharajah Jungle Trek, and Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail, Marley may find a new home elsewhere in the park.

Pueblo Esperanza, which translates to ‘Village of Hope’ is an ambitious expansion of Disney’s Animal Kingdom that will see the DinoLand U.S.A. area completely transformed into a Tropical Americas themed area, featuring Indiana Jones and Encanto. The Dinosaur attraction will be re-themed to an Indiana Jones ride, and an Encanto attraction will also be located in the area.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom has welcomed its second set of cotton-top tamarin babies this year! As we recently reported, Disney welcomed the adorable babies into the Animal Kingdom family last month. During a recent visit, we spotted these adorable two-week-old twins clinging tightly to their mom as she moved through the trees in their enclosure. These tiny tamarins are a particularly special sight, as the park hadn’t seen a cotton-top tamarin birth since 2001 before the births this year.

Although cotton-top tamarins are critically endangered, with fewer than 7,500 remaining in the wild, twins are a common occurrence for this species. The newborns are entirely dependent on their family for survival, often riding on the backs of their family members for up to 14 weeks as they grow and develop. Native to Colombia’s tropical forests, cotton-top tamarins spend their days high in the treetops, foraging for fruits and insects that make up the bulk of their diet.

These striking primates are known for their wild manes of bright-white hair, which might remind you of a certain famous physicist, and they’re just as intelligent, too! With at least 38 distinct calls, cotton-top tamarins use their vocal repertoire to communicate with one another.

Though they may only weigh about a pound when fully grown and are the size of a squirrel, these tiny twins will play a crucial role in the conservation of their species. The birth of these tamarins highlights Disney’s ongoing work with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ (AZA) Species Survival Plan, ensuring the responsible breeding of endangered animals to maintain genetically diverse populations for the future.
