Beauty And The Beast adds Stanley Tucci as Grand Maestro

Stanley Tucci

Walt Disney Pictures upcoming live action movie, Beauty and the Beast will be adding a new character to the storyline.  One of my favorite actors, Stanley Tucci will play Cadenza, the grand piano, whose personality can only be described as a neurotic maestro.

Tucci joins the star studded cast

The live-action movie scheduled for release on March 17, 2017 will make for a long wait, but I know Disney will keep us updated on all the exciting steps in the production to help make the wait a bit easier.

Loretta Garcia, Entertainment Writer for Chip and Co. will be following Beauty and the Beast updates very closing to share the latest and greatest.

Top 10 Disney World Thrill Rides

There’s nothing like getting swept up in Disney magic. The castle, the characters, the Mickey shaped food! It’s so easy for “outsiders” to look at Walt Disney World and think it’s for kids because the focus is on family and the parks being for everyone. However, as Disney veterans, you and I know there is no shortage of thrills and scares at the parks too! I don’t know if I’ll ever outgrow wanting to experience magic and excitement all in one day! Here are my Top 10 Thrills in Walt Disney World.

  1. Tower of Terror– This will always be #1 on any list of attractions I make that involve thrills, chills, excitement and terror! I love a good drop, especially, one overlooking the landscape of Hollywood Studios! The ambience of the line queue is also very high on my list.
  1. Rockin’ Roller Coaster– With 2 roll-over loops and one corkscrew, this is surely Disney’s most exciting roller coaster. Set indoors to loud and exciting Aerosmith music, this coaster hits 60 mph. You WILL Scream…And that’s the whole point!
  1. Expedition Everest– Animal Kingdom has such gorgeous scenery and animal viewing. I think the Imagineers hit the nail on the head when they added this thrilling coaster in 2006. I don’t want to give away the surprise if you haven’t ridden it yet- but there’s a fabled creature lurking inside and he’s out to terrorize!
  1. Mission: Space– As you enter the attraction you are briefed on your mission by the legendary Gary Sinise. Your party is assigned roles: Navigator, Pilot, Engineer and Commander, each with a job to do. You board your space shuttle and experience real G-Force that the astronauts experience upon launch. There are 2 versions of this, one for the more faint-hearted that is a little less intense.
  1. Space Mountain– The oldest operating ride in the state of Florida, Space Mountain is an original fan favorite. This indoor space-themed coaster is intense because of the dark around you. At some points all you see is little lights and tracks and you lose sense of where you are.
  1. Test Track– After several Chevrolet sponsored tests on road simulators your 6 passenger car takes you for a 60 MPH spin around the outside of the building on a track in the sky. While the break tests are fun, we all really just wait for the speed test, right?
  1. Soarin’– I list this in my thrill rides because I remember vividly my first time riding. I had no idea what to expect and it so greatly exceeded my imagination that I found myself chirping with glee as my friends watched me laughing. You really feel like you’re flying and it’s a super exciting experience! Epcot doesn’t have a large number of thrills so this was a superb addition.
  1. Dinosaur– An unexpected treasure amidst the animal life. Animal Kingdom’s Dinoland U.S.A. hosts an adventure in time travel to rescue a dinosaur. Of course not all will go according to plan. If you don’t go in with someone ruining your ride with spoilers you will be very pleasantly terrified! I was lucky enough to be surprised on my first ride. Evidence of this in the title image. (I’m the one in the white).
  1. Seven Dwarfs Mine Train– The first of its kind, this coaster swings side to side as you race through the scenery and up and over turns. This newer addition to New Fantasyland is super popular and it’s highly recommended you book a Fast Pass.
  1. Splash Mountain– A fun way to take a load off those weary feet and possibly cool down with a splash! A fun ride through Br’er Rabbit’s hijinks lands you in the Laughing Place and you might stop singing “Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah” for just a minute as you reach the top of the mountain right before you SPLASH!

What are you favorites? What’s your LEAST favorite thrill ride?

Captain Marvel’s Writers Add to Strong Female Influence

Capt

Marvel Studios has announced the writers for the upcoming Captain Marvel film in theaters in 2018 which includes a strong female presence.

Nicole Perlman and Meg LeFauve will have the opportunity to make Captain Marvel the strong female star she deserves to be.

Nicole Perlman, already has experience in the Marvel Universe.  She was the co-writer of the hit movie “Guardians of the Galaxy”  introducing fans to Star Lord, Gamora, Rocket, Drax and my favorite, Groot.

Co-writer, Meg LeFauve will be new to the Marvel scene, although not new to the Disney / Pixar films, as she was the co-writer to the upcoming animated movie “Inside Out“, that brings us the story of Riley and her emotions.

Marvel’s list of Phase 3 films brings us Carol Danvers as the first female superhero in the starring role as Captain Marvel.  Captain Marvel scheduled to be released in theatres n November 2, 2018 is one I am looking forward to with great anticipation to enjoy a strong female superhero saving the universe.

Step Out Of Your Comfort Zone With These 5 Unique Disney Restaurants

Theme Parks in general are known for their not too exciting cuisine – burgers, chicken tenders, deep-fried everything…needless to say, it’s not always easy to find something different or new to try at most amusement parks. BUT – the good news is that Disney has definitely broken that “boring theme park food” mold by offering so many different menus and dining locations that it’s hard to know where to begin figuring out where to eat! The food is one of the things they are most known for, so if you’re looking for something different to wake up your taste buds, then I suggest you try one of these unique D Restaurants:

Boma – Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is home to this African themed restaurant which serves up breakfast and dinner daily. Dinner is what you’ll want to check out here – an assortment of cold salads and fresh soups, bobotie (a delicious spiced meat and egg pie – sort of like a quiche!), whole roasted salmon, slow roasted pork ribs, roast chicken, delicious coconut rice and other grain salads, and their desserts are to die for – warm bread pudding with caramel sauce, and plenty of miniature desserts too – including the coveted zebra domes (liquor mousse mini bites of heaven!), cheesecakes, brownies, cookies, and seasonal items too (like mini pumpkin pies!). I have dined here several times and will keep going back – the food is amazing, and even a picky eater will be able to find something they like and might even try something new too! Everything is always fresh and delicious, plus getting to wander around the gorgeous Animal Kingdom Lodge is always a treat too

Raglan Road – If you’ve never had the chance to taste authentic Irish cuisine, then you better hightail it over to Downtown Disney ASAP – as Raglan Road is one of the most amazing restaurants I have ever eaten at – not to mention delicious! Fish and chips, Bangers and Mash (delicious sausages and mashed potatoes), Shepherd’s Pie, Heavenly Ham…the list of awesome options goes on and on. Oh – and be sure to save some room for dessert here too – the Bread Pudding is amazing! Traditional Irish dancers entertain to the beat of the live (also Irish) band and they are all really talented. Raglan Road has a huge bar too – tons of beers and wines and cocktails are available, and its such a fun and relaxing place to be that we always plan on dining here at least once during every WDW trip – I can’t WAIT to go back there again!

Restaurant Marrakesh – This restaurant is truly a beautiful sight – the stained glass windows, the chandeliers, the colors and mosaic patterns – it really transports you and makes you feel as if you are sitting in a gorgeous café in Morocco! Roast lamb, Shish Kebabs, couscous and more are offered on the menu – and there’s a full bar with specialty drinks available too. Enjoy the atmosphere, food and drink as you are entertained by the belly dancers!

Biergarten – Head over to Epcot’s Germany pavilion for this buffet that serves up lunch and dinner daily, and offers plenty of German favorites like sausages, pork schnitzel, and plenty of other traditional meat dishes, sauerkraut, potato dumplings, assorted cold salads, and if you’ve saved room – warm apple strudel! A selection of German beers and wines are also available for you to enjoy while you listen to the live musical entertainment – a band that plays lively music (and they tell jokes too!) throughout the afternoon and evening

Akershus – Located in Epcot’s Norway, this dining spot is super popular due to its character appearances – the Disney Princesses meet and greet with guests at all three meals daily, which means this might be a hard spot to get a reservation at, but it is worth the effort for the food alone! Breakfast offers a more traditionally American buffet, but lunch and dinner start off with the “Taste Of Norway” – seafood, cured meats, cheeses, salads and fruit. Choose from meal options including pan seared salmon, roast rack of lamb, and traditional Norwegian meatballs. Enjoy your trio of Norwegian inspired desserts with a “Viking Coffee” – Columbian roast with Kamora Coffee Liquor and Bailey’s Irish Cream

Honorable Mention: I had to give a shout out to the Landscape of Flavors at Disney’s Art Of Animation Resort – and while I know it may seem strange to mention a Value Resort food court on this list, this place is pretty awesome and is offering some unique eats – like their Mongolian grill items, house made veggie burger, and surf and surf burger (featuring crab cake and popcorn shrimp). I also love their cheesy pesto bread, and their gelato and create your own smoothie offerings make for a great end to a great meal! Disney has really taken it to the next level when it comes to “food court” meal offerings – proving that it is possible to use fresh, high quality ingredients to make food that tastes good and is prepared quickly

Disney is the perfect place to try out some new cuisine without having to travel all over the world – so next time you’re vacationing in WDW, make sure you check out some of these unique restaurants – you won’t be sorry!

Disney XD has ordered a second season of Disney Television Animation’s out-of-the-gate hit series “Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero.” It was announced today by Marc Buhaj, Senior Vice President, Programming and General Manager, Disney XD. Created and executive-produced by Jared Bush (“All of Us,” “Zootopia”) and Sam Levine (“Tarzan,” “Bolt“), the animated comedy adventure about an ordinary boy who inherits the extraordinary job of part-time hero premiered as a simulcast on Disney XD and Disney Channel in February and continues to gain traction among its core audience of kids 2-11 and their families.

Thomas Middleditch (“Silicon Valley”) stars as Penn alongside Adam DeVine (“Pitch Perfect 2”) as Boone, Tania Gunadi (“Enlisted”) as Sashi, Alfred Molina (“Spider-Man 2”) as Rippen and Larry Wilmore (“The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore”) as Larry. Recurring are Lea Thompson (“Back to the Future”) as Penn’s mom, Vonnie; Gary Cole (“Veep”) as Penn’s dad, Brock; Rosie Perez (“The View“) as Penn’s Aunt Rose; and Lenny Venito (“The Neighbors”) as Penn’s Uncle Chuck.

Buhaj said, “Jared and Sam have created a wonderful original series in ‘Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero.’ The show has rich, unique stories and our audience has instantly responded to its engaging cast of characters. With season two, we are excited to uncover the origins of our part-time heroes and delve deeper into the characters’ mysterious backstories.”

The series follows Penn Zero and friends Sashi, an overqualified part-time sidekick, and Boone, an under-qualified part-time wise man, as they zap to other dimensions to fill in for heroes in need. Each mission takes the team to unpredictable epic worlds where they must battle evil part-time villain Rippen and his part-time minion, Larry. Season two finds Penn and the gang zapping into the worlds of anime, pirates with talking sea creature ships and the most epic Rock, Paper, Scissors battle of all time, among others.

Will Jack And The Beanstalk Get A Touch of Breaking Bad?

While the studio is still in negotiations, Gilligan has already written a treatment and brought on Thomas Schnauz to write the script.  Schnauz was a writer and co-executive producer on Breaking Bad.  Jack and the Beanstalk will be produced by Vince Gilligan and Mark Johnson and will bring us the familiar tale of the young boy, a handful of magic beans and a scary giant we all grew up with. With the success of Cinderella, Disney has an impressive list of upcoming live action movies, based on fairy tales.  As a huge fan of both Disney and happily ever after,  it seems that Walt Disney Pictures has the potential to continue to keep me and my fellow Disney movie addicts. entertained for years.

In 1947, Walt Disney Studios brought us Mickey’s version of Jack and the Beanstalk titled “Mickey and the Beanstalk.”  And the recent “Into the Woods” included the story of Jack.   I am excited to see how this new live version will present Jack to new movie and Disney addicts . Follow me on Chip and Co. to get all the latest and greatest, Disney news and updates.
