Disney Adds Watermarks over PhotoPass Images

Earlier this week Disney added a copyright protection to the photos taken by PhotoPass photographers. Now, when you view the photos on the website, there is a watermark over the image. This is to discourage guests from taking a screen shot of their photos in order to save the image without purchasing it first.

The watermark will appear on photos that have not been purchased both on the index screen and during any editing process. If the photo is purchased, or is a part of the Memory Maker package, the watermark is removed.

Again, this watermark will not be on photos that are a part of the Memory Maker package.

Top 10 Things Disney Addicts NEVER Say: Resort Edition

Fellow addicts can spot another Disney Addict from a mile away. They often can be seen wearing some sort of Mickey apparel, carrying a Disney tote of some kind and almost ALWAYS are rocking a Disney car decal. But did you know you can tell from the way they speak too? When you find yourself at your Disney Resort it’s important to note what your “neighbors” are saying so you can spot the other Addicts! Here are 10 things you will NEVER hear a Disney addict say at their resort!

1. “Let’s skip the gift shop”– Are there hundreds of opportunities to shop in the parks, Downtown Disney (soon to be renamed Disney Springs)? Yes. But there are so many hidden gems at your resort’s shop too! You may not come across a Wilderness Lodge trading pin anywhere else! And what about a shirt that shows everyone at your next barbecue that you stayed at the Contemporary?

2. “The other buildings are probably just like the one we’re staying in”– Disney Addicts know the care and planning that goes into every minute detail of your resort. They know to explore and search out the nooks and crannies of their resort…and maybe even go resort hopping to explore more!

3. “Let’s wait to eat around noon”– Mistake, rookie. That’s peak food court time at all the Disney resorts. A true Addict will go right before or right after the lunch rush so they can really take their time deciding what they want and what seating offers the best view of the scenery!

4. “I don’t see anything here that I want to eat”– You’d be hard pressed to find a food court or on property restaurant that didn’t wow you and offer so many choices that you had trouble choosing. A true DA knows this and has more trouble deciding if they want to have a “Make-your-own-pasta” dish at Port Orleans Riverside or travel down the river to French Quarter for some jambalaya.

5. “I don’t know where i’d want to stay if I could chose any resort”– Disney Addicts have a bucket list! We all have that dream room or suite that we’ve priced out more times than we can remember. Even if it’s out of our budget, we hold on to the dream of “someday”. Every DA has one of those dream resort visits planned!

6. “I’ll just see if they have any rooms available when we get there”– I hope everyone reading this gasped aloud. As a Travel Magician I have heard people say this and ask my opinion on it. There may be places you can do this but none of them start with the word “Disney”. A true DA knows that there are some things you can wing and others that need to be planned. Unless you want your heart broken- book your room well in advance. Like the minute you’ve decided to go!

7. “There’s nothing to do at the resort, let’s get park tickets for every day”– Disney prides itself on creating an immersive environment at the resorts so when you leave the park for the day you don’t face “Disney let down”. The rooms are magical, the pools are brilliantly themed and all the resorts have acres of property to roam, rent bikes, rent a boat, you name it! There is so much to do at your resort, we Addicts know to set aside extra time to just take it all in.

8. “I’ll just carry my purchases around (in parks or Downtown)”– said no Disney Addict EVER. We’re hip to the convenience of having our purchases sent to our resort gift shop. This also gives us an excuse to shop a little more when we go pick up our items.

9. “It’s too much Disney”– How dare they?! You’ll never hear a true Disney Addict feel overwhelmed at their resort by Disney overexposure. Why? Because, friends, that doesn’t exist! The resorts range in theme so broadly that you can easily find one that fits your travel party’s needs and desires. If you want more of a tropical beach feel after a day of park hopping try the Caribbean Beach Resort. If you can’t get enough of the animals at Animal Kingdom, of course Animal Kingdom Lodge was built with you in mind.

10. “We should have stayed at the <insert ordinary hotel chain name here> instead”– Crazy talk. Even the non-Addicts usually leave converted. The ambiance and careful design of the resorts is unmatched. Rarely do you come across a Disney Addict that doesn’t feel the pull on their soul to stay on property and live, eat and breath Disney for a week or two!

Coming Soon Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters Rolling into Disney California Adventure Park

Back in February Luigi closed his Casa della Tires (along with the flying tires attraction) in Disney California Adventure to visit his family in Italy. I’m happy to tell you that when he returns from his trip, he’ll have some special guests with him!

Luigi has invited all of his cousins from Italy to visit his Casa della Tires. They will arrive early next year and will demonstrate the dances of their village with guests on the all-new Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters attraction.

We hear the technology that will be used here will be quite similar to the Winnie The Pooh ride as it is in Tokyo Disney. The cars are rumored to be controlled by GPS thereby allowing them to sort of run in an area that has no track. They can then be controlled to move around other cars and also maneuver in almost dance like patterns as was shown in Cars 2.

Mickey’s Halloween Party at Disneyland Resort Tickets Now on Sale!

Tickets for Mickey’s Halloween Party at the Disneyland Resort are now on sale for the general public! The party takes place on select nights September 11-November 1, 2015. This year it has been expanded to 17 nights of spook-tacular fun! You’ll get to enjoy the Paint the Night parade as well as “Halloween Screams” fireworks on party nights. Just a reminder Mickey’s Costume Party cavalcade will not be featured this year and “Disneyland Forever” fireworks will not be presented on party nights.

Letter Writing Tips & Ideas

You can write repeated letters to each address.
If you have multiple children, they can each write letters. My kids mail their letters on the same day.

How to write a letter is a great skill to teach your children. By writing their favorite characters, you are teaching them how to write a letter and how the postal service works.

Universal Orlando Official Social Media Engagement Center Now Open

Universal Orlando has opened an official social media “engagement” center on July 20^th just to have a way to engage with the fans of Universal Orlando LIVE! Granted now it’s only going to be open from 9am-6pm, Monday thru Friday, but during that time you will have a team actively answering all of your questions on both Facebook and Twitter.

With the popularity of all of the different ways fans can connect with Universal Orlando via social media outlets it was only a matter of time before we saw Universal’s focus lead to this new social media center. Universal currently has thousands of tags or tweets across social media each day as well as the many Instagram pictures posted that it only made sense to give this area of advertising a closer look.

Universal Orlando has been testing the Social Engagement Center over the past few months with great success. This new center is to help provide an additional area of Guest Services but on a whole new level. The Social Media Engagement Center team is partnering with the Guest Contact Center as well as the Guest Services team to provide you with one cohesive experience on social media.

Be Our Guest Breakfast is Now Permanent!

Have you heard the news??? As of July 27th Disney has officially extended Be Our Guest breakfast permanently!

Now, before you run off to book your breakfast reservation as Tuesday afternoon the reservations were not open yet. This just means Disney is getting everything loaded in the system and that guests should start looking daily if they want to snag one of those coveted reservations.

Breakfast will be offered from 8am-10am daily at Be Our Guest in New Fantasyland in Magic Kingdom. As far as we know, the menu will not be changing.

This is the second big breakfast announcement from Disney today. They also announced that Garden Grill, located inside the Land Pavilion at Epcot will now be serving breakfast and lunch daily!

Chase Celebrates 20th Annual Epcot International Food & Wine Festival With New Events

Chase today announced that as part of its multi-year agreement with Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, U.S. it continues as the presenting sponsor of the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. The festival, running from September 25 through November 16, 2015, will welcome celebrity chefs, debut new marketplaces and tastes from around the world and celebrate Guests’ favorite dining traditions.
