Top 5 Things You Won’t Want To Miss in the Magic Kingdom

5 things MK
5 things MK

5 thinks mk

What do I love more than visiting Magic Kingdom? Writing a Top 5 about it! Following on the tails of my Epcot and Animal Kingdom lists I am so very excited to share this list of must-see attractions for all ages and sizes. Magic Kingdom is, after all, where it all began!

1. Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress

This attraction was not only Walt’s own creation, but it was featured at the 1964-65 New York World’s Fair. I can’t go to Magic Kingdom without visiting this ride. It’s a quiet reprieve from the day and a ride around a fun rotating theater. You’ll follow an animatronic family through the trends of the 20th century from electricity and plumbing to space aged computer video games…which is all too real to us in 2015!

2. Tomorrowland Transit Authority People Mover

I have to admit that I haven’t done this every time I’ve visited Magic Kingdom and I’m always sorry that I didn’t get to it if I skip it. This 10 minute narrated tour brings you through some behind the scenes areas of MK including Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin and an awesome diorama of Progress City- early concept Epcot. It’s a lot of fun and it’s a nice slow ride for all ages.

3. Mickey’s PhilharMagic

If you’re old enough to sit in a chair and wear 3D glasses, you’re old enough for this concert movie! The show takes place on a 150 foot wrap around screen and includes more Disney favorite characters than you can count. Conductor Donald Duck oversees your journey through beloved classics such as Peter Pan, Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin.

4. Festival of Fantasy Parade

I’m not a huge fan of over decorated, loud and exuberant live entertainment. This parade falls into all of those categories yet it’s done so perfectly that I am addicted to it. I ran across the park more times than I’d like to admit just to catch it. The music is addictive and the character floats are extravagant and beautiful to look at. My favorite is Maleficent…but I won’t tell you why in case you haven’t caught this event yet.

5. Wishes Nighttime Spectacular

I can’t say enough about the magical experience that is this fireworks extravaganza. The new effects with imaging on Cinderella’s castle, the music that doesn’t leave a dry eye in the house and the overwhelming fireworks themselves are almost too much to handle for us Disney Addicts. Please carve out time during your visit to see this display. It will leave you with memories that will last a lifetime…which is why we go to Disney World in the first place, right?

It’s so hard to narrow down Top 5 for anything so keep in mind that this set of lists is designed for ALL ages and not thrill seekers! Thrill rides are a whole different story! What are your recommend Top 5? Did I miss any of your favorites?

I’d love to discuss your favorites whether you’ve been to Disney World once or 100 times! Contact me today to plan your dream vacation. I also love helping newbies so don’t hesitate if you’re new to the game! Email me or  follow me on Facebook.

Car catches fire in Disneyland Parking Structure

Disneyland parking fire
Disneyland parking fire

The fire started at around 7:49 p.m. on Saturday night in a Disneyland parking structure. There was small flames and smoke coming from a car. The fire was put out quickly. It did not appear to be intentional, more like the car just had a mechanical issue.

There were no injuries reported and the parking structure and the other vehicles not damaged.

Disney Cruise Line will Cut Commissions to Travel Agents

disney cruise line logo

disney_cruise_line_logo

Travel Agents are about to be very unhappy. Their future commission they make on future bookings made by guests that are already on board a Disney Cruise Line ship will be cut. The previous rate of commission had been up to 16%. depending on the agents volume of sales. Now it is being capped at 10%.

Many guests book their next cruise while still on board because there are a few good perks to doing so, like cheaper deposits.

“I believe that an agency earns that higher commission amount by bringing more clients aboard Disney Cruise Line and that it’s unfair for them to say that they will pay a lower rate just because it’s booked on-board,” travel agent Kristy Ouellette said in an email.”I do a lot of work educating my client on the benefits of booking while they are still on-board but, if I continue to do that, I’m basically giving a percentage of my income away.”

Royal Caribbean, which is obviously a Disney Cruise Line competitor, was very quick to distance themselves from Disney’s recent change.

Add a Little Disney Magic to Your Holidays with a Personalized Disney Ornament from Hallmark

Personalized DIsney Ornament

The holiday season is upon us!  I love adding a little bit of Disney Magic to my family’s celebration.  Sometimes that means experiencing all of the holiday celebrations at Walt Disney World, Disneyland or on a Disney Cruise.  It also means adding a few Disney decorations to our home over the holidays.

We recently came upon these new Personalized Disney Ornaments from Hallmark and I couldn’t wait to get mine created and ordered!

While there are several Disney options to choose from I wanted to pick one that would commemorate our trip to Disney World earlier this year so I went with the Mickey Mouse Silhouette Personalized Ornament.

Personalizing it was so simple!  I started by clicking the Personalize and Buy icon on the page.

Personalized Disney Ornament

That took me to this easy to use “design” page.

Next I uploaded a photo from my computer (but you can also use Facebook to upload).  A simple drag and drop with my mouse centered it perfectly!

Personalized Disney Ornament

Then I changed the text.  Here you can also change font size and color.

There are other options, such as a black and white photo or a different background color, but I like ours just as it was.

Personalized Disney Ornament

After I was totally happy with my ornament I added it to my cart and I was set!  This was my final product.

Personalized Disney Ornament

Shipping time looks to be about 2 weeks so make sure you order ornament soon so you have it in time for the holidays.

There are several other Disney options to choose from.  They all range in price from $22.95 to $28.95.  It even looked like you could have it shipped to a store for free pick-up (but I didn’t try out that option).

Do you add Disney Magic to your holiday celebration?  If so, this is one item you don’t want to miss out on!

Disney-Pixar and State of Wyoming Teaming Up For The Good Dinosaur Promotion

image19-1280x830

The upcoming Walt Disney / Pixar film “The Good Dinosaur” is coming to theaters, November 25, 2015.  With the release of the film, an agreement between Disney-Pixar and the State of Wyoming where the film was based has been reached to promote travel to the locations where filming occurred.   Wyoming Office of Tourism will be promoting The Good Dinosaur alongside Disney-Pixar to invite visitors to their beautiful state.  The Office of Tourism officials will also be at the film’s premiere in Los Angeles to share the connection between the film and actual locations in Wyoming sharing all the excitement and detail of the dinosaurs’ history in Wyoming.

“The film is visually stunning, and the setting is very characteristic of the Wyoming scenery we know and love,” Shober said. “‘The Good Dinosaur’ is a perfect fit for Wyoming with the mountain backdrops, sweeping landscapes, and ties to paleontology and culture of the American West.”

Although the Wyoming Office of Tourism has been involved with other projects with Disney, this is the first time the partnership has been of an advertising nature.  “What we really hope is that this will move the needle on young families who have younger kids but are still in the adventure stage of their lives,” Mickey said. “Even though it’s an animated film, because of how well the Disney-Pixar team did, the locations and backgrounds of this film, it almost looks like you could be there.”

Since the setting for The Good Dinosaur is set in prehistoric times, the city of Cheyenne doesn’t come up in the film but the Office of Tourism is hoping movie goers will still find the paleontological points of interest and the state’s dinosaur connections a location to visit.  “We’ve got a small dinosaur here in our State Museum, and there’s a replica mammoth at the state tourism site on Interstate 25 south of town,” Pope said.

Advertising by the State of Wyoming’s Office of Tourism for the film will run from mid-November to mid-December, then again later in the winter.

I see an Adventures by Disney trip in my future to visit the beautiful state of Wyoming!  If you would like information on visiting Wyoming or help planning your next Amazing Magical Adventures, contact www.worldofmagictravel.com or complete the quote form on www.chipandco.com.
