Best Disney Cruises for Multi-Generational Families

disney cruise line

One of the best ways for families to spend time together is onboard the Disney Cruise Line.  Here you can travel to different parts of the world while someone else does the driving, so you can reconnect together.  Today, I’d like to share five unique Disney Cruises that provide amazing experience for each member of the family and guaranteed to create memories for years to come.

  • Disney Dream itineraries starting late October 2015- the Disney Dream is currently going through a dry dock and just about to make her reappearance at sea, bigger and better than ever!  During the dry dock, this ship was enhanced and will now feature Star Wars and Disney Infinity themed areas in the kids club.  Parents and grandparents can join the kids in all the fun during the Open House and play their hearts out!  Let’s face it, grandparents LOVE to spoil the grandkids too…so they won’t want to miss Vanellope’s Sweets and Treats- featuring handmade gelato and ice cream, mouthwatering sundaes and more candy than you can imagine!  The sundaes are definitely big enough to share, so what a great way to bond and satisfy your sweet cravings at sea.
  • Star Wars Day at Sea sailings- the Force is strong on the Disney Fantasy as it sails to the Western Caribbean during eight special sailings from January to April.  Join Disney Cruise Line for an out of this galaxy experience.  The special day-long celebration at sea features a deck party, special character meet-and greets, Star Wars themed youth activities, unique food and beverage offerings and special merchandise.  You can also catch your favorite Star Wars movies and episodes of Star Wars Rebels onboard.
  • Experience the Disney magic on land AND sea- with many sailings from Port Canaveral and Miami, a land and sea vacation extends family time and increases the fun!  Both ports are within driving distance from Walt Disney World, so you can enjoy the parks you’ve grown to love and then relax at sea, or vice versa!  Whatever you decide I can help create the most magical vacation for you and your family!  This is a sure-fire way to win Parent or Grandparent of the Year and your (grand)kids will remember this trip for a lifetime…don’t forget your camera!
  • Explore far away lands together- during the summer of 2016, the Disney Cruise Line will be returning to far-off places waiting to be explored.  Port adventures in Alaska and throughout Europe provide entertainment and inspiration for both children and adults.  There’s no better way to celebrate your love of travel with your family, with the Disney-style you have come to love and trust.
  • Celebrate the holidays at sea– cruising during the holidays is a great for the whole family to come together and relax together.  Someone else does the driving and the cooking, while everyone is immersed in the fun!  Disney Cruise Line offers special themed cruises for Halloween (Halloween on the High Seas) and Christmas (Very Merrytime Cruises) featuring special activities, food offerings and entertainment.  And, we can’t forget about the decorations…the Disney Cruise Line transforms the ships and gives them the perfect holiday makeover that your eyes will not believe.

Hopefully all of this gets you thinking of how you are going to spend your next family vacation!  Let me help you plan and answer any questions you have on the Disney Cruise Line experience.  And, don’t forget, through the end of October, we are offering a special promotion for cruises booked this month.  You can read all about that HERE!  Email me at [email protected] to being planning your most magical, family Disney vacation ever!

A Frozen Holiday Wish Castle Lights

It’s that magical time of year again, Magic Kingdom is already adorned in beautiful Holiday decor! That means the Castle Lighting will soon be upon us, maybe as early as November 4, 2015!

It seems that the “A Frozen Holiday Wish” event has popped up on the Magic Kingdom schedule starting November 4, with showing times of 6:15 PM, and 8:20 PM on non Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party Nights, and at 6:15 PM and 8:00 PM on party nights. How exciting!! I really hope that this schedule is right, and that we’ll be seeing the castle aglow in twinkling icicle lights tomorrow night.

A Frozen Holiday Wish

For those who haven’t seen the newest update for the Holiday Castle lights, A Frozen Holiday  Wish began last year. “A Frozen Holiday Wish” features Anna and Elsa as they greet guests center stage in front of Cinderella’s Castle. Kristoff and Olaf also make appearances, and the show culminates in Queen Elsa using her sensational ice powers to present a gift to everyone in the kingdom, transforming Cinderella Castle into a glimmering ice palace for the holidays.

Hope you guys have a magical holiday season, hope to see you there!

Putting those Disney Autographs On Display!

DIYAutographBook2
DIYAutographBook2

DIYAutographBook2

There’s plenty of awesome souvenirs you can bring home as a memory of your Walt Disney World vacation, and I personally prefer the unique, “one of a kind” items – like character autographs. Getting to meet characters at Disney is a great experience, and there are some great ways you can collect those autographs for an awesome Disney DIY Autograph Display!

DIYautographshirt

Why not wear your collection? An autograph filled t-shirt would be the envy of all your friends, and it couldn’t be easier to pull off. Here’s what you’ll want to bring along to Disney for this DIY project:

-A plain t shirt – I recommend a light color so the autographs are easily visible on the finished product

-Different colored fabric markers/permanent markers

-A thick piece of cardboard – to place behind the portion of the shirt being autographed so it doesn’t bleed through to other parts of the shirt,

and also so the character has something hard to write against

-A large Ziploc baggie – to store it all in

DisneyAutographPhotoMat

This idea of having all the characters sign a Photo Frame Mat is great because it combines my two favorite Disney souvenirs – trip photos and autographs! The supplies for this one are easy – just the mat and some assorted colored markers/pens are really all you will need! One tricky thing is that the mat will probably be sort of large to carry around, but I know most people carry a backpack or large tote to the parks anyway, so you really just have to be careful you don’t bend it or get it wet. Putting it in a mailing envelope (the thick cardboard kind) and also encasing it in a large Ziploc baggie should help ensure it stays pristine during your days at the Park! And when you get it home, you can pick out your best trip photo (maybe one of you hugging your favorite character?) and frame it with the mat and hang it in a place where you can cherish it every day!

If you’re not sure you can safely carry around a photo mat, or just want something more compact to collect your autographs on, then you can head to the craft store and pick up some thick pages of scrapbook paper and cut them into index-card size pieces to bring along and have each character sign one. You can choose different colors or patterns too (just avoid ones that are too dark or busy as they would make the autograph hard to read!), and when you get home you have a bunch of individual autograph cards you can use in a scrapbook, photo album/frame, or other art project. What’s great about this is you can easily carry these around with some markers in a sandwich sized Ziploc baggie when you head to the Parks

DIYAutographBook

A classic autograph book is always a good way to go too – you can buy them at the Parks and online, but why not make your own? Just pick up a small plain journal with a hard cover (a must for ease of signing by the characters!) – Bookstores or office supply stores are a great place to find these, and then get creative with your covers! Decoupage and old trip photos, Disney stickers, Glitter, markers – any and all of these would help you customize your autograph book. This is a great craft project for kids, and a great way to get them excited about the trip too!

The key with any of these is to make sure you have your item to autograph out and ready BEFORE you get to the character – including the marker/pen – it should be uncapped and ready to hand off, and make sure your camera is on/ready too! This ensures that you aren’t fumbling around when it’s your turn to meet and greet (and therefore causing everyone behind you to have to wait longer for their turn!)

If you aren’t sure where to find the characters, you can check with Cast Members when you arrive at the Parks, or check the My Disney Experience app, or my personal favorite way to meet them is to make sure you book some character meals – they’re a great way to get to meet several characters in one place, and at most of them the characters circulate the restaurant and come right to your table!

Happy DIY’ing!

Alice Through the Looking Glass Teaser

Alice Through the Looking Glass
Alice Through the Looking Glass

alice

Twitter was the place to find the news from the Walt Disney Studios about Alice Through The Looking Glass.  With a perfectly timed post combined with Fall Back Daylight Savings, the studio shared a very short teaser showing Alice falling through the door.  The tweet below gives us a glimpse of the sequel to the 2010 film, Alice in Wonderland which brought in over $1 billion world wide.  The sequel brings back Mia Wasikowska as Alice, Johnny Depp plays the Mad Hatter, Anne Hathaway is the White Queen and Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen.

Alice Through The Looking Glass is just one of many upcoming live action movies, some are remakes of favorite animated films such as The Jungle Book and Dumbo as well as a remake of Pete’s Dragon and new films which I can’t wait to see with some of my top fav characters like Tink and Mary Poppins. The line up of new films coming our way is beyond impressive and this Entertainment Writer and huge movie fan can not wait for films to arrive at our favorite theatre.

What did you think of the quick fall?   Are you excited to see the sequel?   Make sure you visit chipandco.com or sign up for our newsletter to stay up to date with all the news, promos and information about your favorite Disney entertainment.

Possible Hocus Pocus 2 Sequel As TV Movie

hocuspocus

Hocus Pocus 2 has been on the minds of fans as well as the cast and producer, David Kirschner.   The sequel to the popular 1993 film was pitched to the studios and turned down several years ago.   Kirschner recently shared he has once again pitched it as a TV movie for Disney.   The film which starred  Kathy Najimy, Sarah Jessica Parker and Bette Midler as the Sanderson Sisters is a favorite among fans of all ages.

All three actresses have publicly commented they would return for a sequel with Midler joking about it on twitter writing “@kathynaijmy @SJP Breaking news!! SEQUEL DELAYED!! @Disney having trouble finding a virgin! #HocusPocus.”  as well as as second post “What’s that you say? ‘Fast and the Furious’ has six sequels and ‘Hocus Pocus‘ has zero?”

A few years ago during a Huffington Post interview, Bette Midler said the movie was one of her favorites.  Midler shared, “We had a great time making it. It was Kathy Najimy, Sarah Jessica Parker and I and we laughed the whole time.”

Earlier this week, Sarah Jessica Parker commented that for now it’s all just internet talk.

Will Walt Disney Studios bring fans a second Hocus Pocus?   Comment your thoughts below and let your favorite Entertainment Writer know if you are a fan of Hocus Pocus.

With pressure mounting, Mark and Russell track down Glenn, a DMV instructor known for his easy testing, but on the day Mark attempts the test, Glenn learns that his wife is leaving him and is too distraught to complete the driving test. Left with no other way to get his driver’s license, Mark and his trusty sidekick, Russell, embark on a cross-town adventure with Glenn to help him win his wife back.

Also starring are Chris Gauthier as DMV instructor Glenn, Nicole Muñoz as Angela, who helps Mark and Russell track down Glenn’s wife, Tiera Skovbye as Mark’s crush Ashley and Kurt Ostlund as another driver who complicates Mark’s pursuit of a license.

Disney XD has ordered “Walk the Prank,” a series that blends comedic storytelling with hidden camera reality pranks.
