From the midnight ride of Paul Revere to the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the Muppets appear throughout the day to share with Guests, their own unique take on the founding fathers and the birth of the United States of America.

LEGOLAND Florida reveals the new “1964½” Ford Mustang Lego display!

70a46e3a-dcc9-471c-b4f4-f00d4289c20c

LEGOLAND Resort Florida, located in Winter Haven, FL, has re-created the original Ford Mustang, in association with longtime sponsor Southern Ford Dealers, out of thousands of LEGO bricks!

Last year they debuted a 13-foot version of LEGO Monster Fighters set No. 9464, The Vampyre Hearse, and this year, the hot-rod hearse has been souped up with a few awesome enhancements.

The life-size LEGO replica of the so-called “1964½” Mustang V8 coupe was designed and built by a team of Master Builders at LEGO Systems, Inc.

The LEGO Mustang is made of 194,900 standard LEGO bricks and DUPLO bricks.  It measures more than 15 feet long, about 6 feet wide, and more than 4 feet tall.  It weighs 1,712 pounds, 960 of those pounds are LEGO bricks, and 752 pounds is its flat, aluminum framework.

Some surprises were added under the hood, including a virtual horn and the roar of a real Mustang engine which is a first for a life-size LEGO vehicle.  The Mustang also has working headlights and taillights.

The giant model recently debuted to thousands of classic car enthusiasts at Mustang Club of America’s 40th anniversary festivities in Indianapolis.  Admirers included Gale Halderman, a member of the Ford Motor Co. team that designed the original Mustang in the early 1960s, and NASCAR legend Richard Petty.  Both men autographed an interior space under the model’s trunk.  After a few more public stops on its way south, this “#BrickPony” made its way to its permanent display outside the Ford Driving School attraction.

Saturday, October 1st was the official unveiling of this hot-rod at LEGOLAND Florida.  Children representing the Make-A-Wish foundation helped unveil the display, and since LEGOLAND is #builtforkids the rest of the kids at the ceremony joined in as well.

To see this #BrickPony head over to LEGOLAND Florida Resort.  It sure is a sight to be seen!

Dad fulfills wifes dying wish to bring son to Walt Disney World

1475262832351

Billy Webb, a 33-year-old dad from New Jersey brought his son Will  to Walt Disney World for the first time to grant his wife Kellie’s dying wish.

Kellie Webb, 33, first met her husband of nine years while stationed in Fort Bragg, NC for the U.S. Army. She served as a combat medic in the Army and completed a 16-month tour in Iraq in 2007. She was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2012 and medically retired from the Army when her cancer became unmanageable in October of 2014.

Kellie’s cancer was deemed terminal at the beginning of the summer. At that time Kellie was asked by her father-in-law what she would like to do before it was too late and that is when she said she wanted to take her son to see Mickey Mouse in Orlando.  Kellie went into hospice on Thursday from a reaction to her latest round of chemotherapy, she passed away on Saturday, ending her four-year battle.  Billy said about 200 people turned out for Kellie’s funeral.

A “Kellie’s Final Wish” gofundme account was create on September 22nd and within the first hour the $10,000.00 goal was met. By Friday afternoon almost $35,000.00 was reported in the account.

Although Billy says it means the world to him to be able to bring his son to Walt Disney World, him and his son both really wish Kellie could have joined them.  Billy says he thought there was plenty of time left for them to share this vacation.

Billy said Will wants to do it all and that is just what they plan to do!

Captain’s Grille at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort Anticipates 2017 Refurbishment

CG

CG

The Captain’s Grille, in the Walt Disney World Yacht Club Resort, is unofficially anticipating a much-needed refurbishment in 2017. Other than some new tables and chairs, wallpaper and paint, and an update to the menu in 2014, the decor and look have remained the same for the past 25 years. We can expect a reimagined menu, a reconditioned interior,  and updated decor when the anticipated work is completed.

The dinner menu offers specialty cocktails, wine, and beer.  The appetizers and entrees are scrumptious.  If you feel like you can’t decide then your waiter/waitress will make your decision even more difficult when telling you about the specials of the day.  We are curious to see what will change, and what will remain the same on the menus, after completion of this possible refurbishment.

When I heard about the potential for the refurbishment,  I made sure to get over to Captain’s Grille to enjoy dinner there.  Since no dates have been released yet, I wanted to be sure I had the opportunity to enjoy a meal here.  The steaks are cooked to perfection and the Cabernet-braised Short Rib is beyond spectacular.  We are not sure how they can improve on such an excellent dinner menu, but we are excited about the potential.

We all love dessert, and for many of us, this is the most important part of a great meal.  If you are too full for dessert then you may want to enjoy an after-dinner drink or a specialty coffee.  We look forward to an updated dessert menu and are hopeful some of the favorites will remain.

The desserts at Captain’s Grille are truly a class-act.  From the Gianduja Chocolate Cake, to the S’More’s Tart and the Cheesecake, you are sure to find something that will appeal to your palate.  Even if you do not have time for a full sit-down meal, a dessert with a drink of your choice will fit the bill.

The interior is quite dark when you first walk in.  The darkness is anticipated as you would expect an old-fashioned New England Yacht Club to be.  The three-dimensional art on the wall is interesting to look at.  The curves of the walls, along with the porthole windows and the vintage lighting add to the ambience.  As a Massachusetts native familiar with Nantucket Island, of which the Yacht Club is imagined and designed after, I look forward to seeing how they will  reimagine and enhance the interior look of the Captain’s Grille.

The Captain’s Grille has become a favorite restaurant for many.  Reservations are recommended, but not required.  Breakfast is served from 7:30am-11:25am.  You can order a-la-carte or enjoy the breakfast buffet.  Lunch includes lobster rolls, sandwiches, fish and chips, and burgers.  The dinner menu, however, is the creme-de-la-creme of the Captain’s Grille offerings.

The Yacht Club Convention Center is undergoing an expansion and this may be the reason Captain’s Grille is facing a potential reconditioning.  We eagerly await an official announcement from Disney regarding the anticipated refurbishment dates.  But for now, be sure to enjoy a meal at this amazing hidden-gem restaurant.

Will you be planning to enjoy a meal at Captain’s Grille on your next visit to the Walt Disney World Resort?  Please leave your comments in the box below.

Beauty-and-the-Beast-Teaser-Poster

Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is a live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs. “Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within.

The film stars: Emma Watson as Belle; Dan Stevens as the Beast; Luke Evans as Gaston, the handsome, but shallow villager who woos Belle; Oscar® winner Kevin Kline as Maurice, Belle’s eccentric, but lovable father; Josh Gad as Lefou, Gaston’s long-suffering aide-de-camp; Golden Globe® nominee Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, the candelabra; Oscar nominee Stanley Tucci as Maestro Cadenza, the harpsichord; Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette, the feather duster; six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald as Madame Garderobe, the wardrobe; Oscar nominee Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, the mantel clock; and two-time Academy Award winner Emma Thompson as the teapot, Mrs. Potts.
Directed by Oscar winner Bill Condon from a screenplay by TBD based on the 1991 animated film, the film is produced by Mandeville Films’ David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman with eight-time Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken, who won two Academy Awards® (Best Original Score and Best Song) for the 1991 animated film, providing the score, which will include new recordings of the original songs written by Menken and Howard Ashman, as well as several new songs written by Menken and three-time Oscar winner Tim Rice.
