Price Hikes for Disney World and Disneyland Tickets Starting Today

Disney's Hollywood Studios

Disney Ticket Increase

Sadly, it’s that time of year again when we here at Chip and Co, have to let our faithful Disney readers know that both Walt Disney World and Disneyland will be increasing their single-day admission tickets as well as Annual Passports starting today.

Walt Disney World

As you know, Disney introduced tiered ticket pricing last year with off-peak periods having the cheapest tickets and the most popular times of year the most expensive.  Under this system, the middle tiered prices will go up from $102 to $107.  That’s an increase of $5 a ticket.  Peak tier tickets will also go up $5.00 from $119 to $114.  However, the lower tier off-peak tickets will only see a price increase of $2.

The pricing for Magic Kingdom is slightly different as Disney charges a slightly higher rate for this theme park.  Prices for value and middle tier tickets will increase but the peak ticket prices will remain the same price.

Annual Passholders are not exempt from the increases. The cost of Gold Passes for Florida residents will increase by $10 and the Florida resident Platinum Pass will go up $30.

Including in this new pricing scheme will also be changes incentivizing advanced purchasing with those booking online or via phone saving $20 on Magic You Way Ticket bundles from 3-10 days.

In another shake-up Disney is eliminating the Water Park Fun and More add-on ticket.  Visitors can still get the Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon combo ticket with the Park Hopper option.

And finally, starting today, all tickets will also have expiration dates, not just single-day tickets.

Disneyland

Over at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure, the price of visiting during off-peak periods will increase by $2.  A visit during mid range dates will increase by $5 from $110 up from $105 and peak tickets also increase by $5 from $119 to $124.

Parking is also increasing from $18 to $20.

The Southern California Select and Southern California passes will also increase by $10.

With ticket increases been leaked yesterday (February 11th), and many Disney insiders getting up to speed today on these changes, the information included above may change.  Readers are encouraged to check back with Chip and Co over the next couple of days for any additional information regarding ticketing increases.

Watch as Strangers Recreate The Spaghetti Scene From “Lady And The Tramp”

Watch as Strangers Recreate The Spaghetti Scene From "Lady And The Tramp"

In celebration of Valentine’s Day, Oh My Disney is debuting an adorable new video that captures the surprising reactions of complete strangers as they meet for the first time to recreate the iconic kiss scene from “Lady and the Tramp”.

More than half a century since its release, the ‘spaghetti kiss’ scene is still considered one of the most iconic scenes in American film history. In Oh My Disney’s modern day recreation, a waiter dressed in black approaches with a gleaming silver serving dish. Between two candelabras, one dinner-mate rolls a meatball over with his nose. The red ‘recording’ light flashes on and the priceless reactions begin.

Cue the romantic Italian music, try not to blush and click ‘play.’ Please consider sharing this video with your readers in advance of Valentine’s Day.

Charming Vintage Style Handmade Pinocchio Nesting Dolls

Handmade Pinocchio Nesting Dolls

Sometimes I love finding interesting Disney items that have a classic and vintage feel. These Handmade Pinocchio Nesting DollsCharming Vintage Style Handmade Pinocchio Nesting Dolls from Amazon truly remind me of classic Disney inspired items from my childhood.

These Nesting Dolls (also known as matryoshka) are hand painted, completely handmade and signed by the artist. I have a fantastic collection of Matryoshka dolls, but none of them are Disney themed! I love the vintage feel to them, and the iconic scenes are captured spectacularly. I would even love to find sets of other Classic Disney animated films as nesting dolls!

In case you missed the news Disneyland also raised their rates today too.

Disneyland raises Ticket Prices, Parking and Annual Passholder rates tomorrow

Disneyland raises Ticket Prices, Parking and Annual Passholder rates tomorrow

Starting Sunday Disneyland will be raising ticket prices, parking, and Annual Passholder rates according the OC Register.

It will cost guests $97 to go to one of the parks on “Value” days which is up $2 from last year. Cost for visiting on a “Regular” days will now be $110, while “Peak” days can now cost you $124, that is up $5 from last year.

Just like the tiered pricing at Disney World tickets are more on days when demand would be higher.

Also going up is the Disneyland Parking which went from $18 to $20 now.

Last year, in an effort to spread out the crowds, Disney introduced its three-level pricing. Some observers say the tiered pricing structure has worked, with less people flocking to the park, for example, on the highest-demand two-week period including Christmas and New Year’s Day.

On Sunday, prices for some annual passes will go up as well.

The Southern California Select and Southern California passes will be $339 and $469, respectively, $10 increases. Both passes have blackout days.

The Deluxe pass, with some Saturday and peak-holiday-period blackout days, is getting boosted by $20 to $619. The prices for the higher-end passes will remain the same.

Rivers of Light to Continue Soft Opening Tonight

Soft Opening

Soft Opening

Disney’s Animal Kingdom surprised visitors yesterday by premiering Rivers of Light, their new evening spectacular a full week ahead of schedule.  Yesterday, marked the first soft opening performance which was held at 7:15 pm.   It would appear that this trend will continue as today (February 11th) as disneyworld.com is also showing availability for a 7.15 performance.   Guests heading to Animal Kingdom may want to check their My Disney Experience account to see if FastPasses are available.

After this evening’s performance, another Rivers of Light show is not scheduled until Friday, February 17 at 7.15 pm.

River’s of Light, which was marred with technical difficulties last year, is being hailed as a brilliant fusion of water, sound and light that comes together in a celebration of the beauty of all living things.  For a first glimpse of the production check out this article.

If you’re visiting Disney this Spring and Rivers of Light is on your “must-do” list, consider booking the Rivers of Light Dining Package which includes a meal at either Tusker House or Tiffins and premium seating at a Rivers of Light performance.  More details on the dining package can be found here.

First Look at the Rivers of Light Soft Opening

.First Look at the Rivers of Light Soft Opening

The morning of February 10th started out like any other typical Friday work-day, until the folks at Walt Disney World made it known that there would be a Soft Opening of the all-new Rivers of Light.  FastPasses for the event suddenly appeared on the My Disney Experience app and the media buzz was intense. Here is a first look at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Rivers of Light Soft Opening.

First Look at the Rivers of Light Soft Opening

Word got out quickly that there were Rivers of Light FastPasses available, on the My Disney Experience App, for that evening.  FastPass availability was gone within minutes.  Luckily, Annual Passholders could arrive at the Animal Kingdom and get a wristband from Guest Relations to attend the Soft Opening of Rivers of Light.

First Look at the Rivers of Light Soft Opening

The wristband allowed us to get in at the Stand-By Entrance.  There was literally no line for this.  Cast Members were only allowing people with wristbands in and the area was blocked off, with foot traffic being directed away from the Rivers of Light Stadium because of the Soft Opening.  The Stand-By line is located on the side of the stadium facing DinoLand and will likely be long once the show officially opens next week on February 17th.  The FastPass entry line is located on the other side of the stadium facing Kali River Rapids and Expedition Everest.

The Rivers of Light Show is spectacular.  There was a slightly slow start right at the beginning, but once the show gained momentum it was breath-taking.  This show is a must-see for any guest visiting the Walt Disney World Resort.
