Signature Collection “Pinocchio” Blu-Ray Review

IMG_2885

I was so excited when the Blu-Ray Signature Collection of Pinocchio came in the mail and the first thing I did was re-watch the classic Disney film. It was fun to know I remembered all the words to all the songs despite it being decades since my last viewing! Then I got myself settled in and watched the hours of bonus features that are included on the Blu-Ray. I’m not kidding, there are so many bonus features that in itself make it worth buying the Blu-ray.

“The Pinocchio Project: When You Wish Upon A Star”
The Project – The behind the scenes short of the recording of the remake of the song “When you wish upon a star”
The Video – The music video of the song, performed by JR Aquino, Alex G, Tanner Patrick

“Walt’s Story Meetings: Pleasure Island”
A behind the scenes of the making, specifically of the Pleasure Island segment, from Pinocchio. Mainly taken from notes and pictures from Walt Disney and his artists.

“In Walt’s Words – Pinocchio”
Walt Disney himself explaining his decision after “Snow White” to pursue Pinocchio. How he worked with his artists, his relationship with his brother, how the war effected the production. It’s wonderful to hear Walt’s own voice talking about his work and his studio.

“Oswald The Luck Rabbit in “Poor Papa”
The first Oswald short Walt ever made, and which was never released. It’s about Oswald, the father to 15 unruly bunnies.

“Classic Bonus Content”
No Strings Attached: the Making of Pinocchio – This hour long documentary covers Walt and his artists, following the massive success of “Snow White” getting into Pinocchio. This is a deep dive into every single aspect of the film each specific artist, the voice actors and finding them, the models used, music – everything. The film itself proved to be more problematic then anything but ended up becoming one of the most beautiful and revered animated films in history.

Deleted Scenes – Three scenes that either storyboarded or described in notes but never got in to the final animation process.

The Sweatbox – The story of Walt’s process of taking the photo’s of the storyboards and projecting them with music and artists voices in the non-air conditioned screening room with the other animators and pick it apart to make the best film possible.

Geppetto’s Then And Now – Toys and toymakers from all over the world. From the people who make wooden toys and marionettes to the modern high-tech toys, like robots, from the US and Japan. Then to the future of toys, which is amazing.

Live Action Reference Footage – A beat by beat process that the animators went through before they started the animation process. Featuring the found footage of live actors going through the motions for the artists to follow.

Publicity – The theatrical trailers for “Pinocchio” from 1940, 1984 and 1992

“When You wish Upon A Star” Meaghan Jette Martin
The music video for ‘When You Wish Upon a Star’

“A Wish Come True: The Making Of Pinocchio”
The documentary from the 1984 video release of the animated classic.

“Storyboard-To-Film Final Comparison”
A side by side comparison of the original storyboards and the final film, from the first scene of the movie.

I loved every bit of the bonus features, and it’s something your family can watch again and again. This Signature Collection of Pinocchio is a must in every collector’s collection.

Rapunzel Sequel And Series Premieres On The Disney Channel In March

Tangled

Tangled

Between the stories told in the Disney film “Tangled” and its short film “Tangled Ever After,” the Disney Channel Original Movie “Tangled Before Ever After” makes its debut on Friday March 10 (8:00 p.m. EST) leading to the highly anticipated premiere of “Tangled: The Series” on Friday March 24 (7:30 p.m. EDT). Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi are coming back as Rapunzel and Eugene (formerly known as Flynn Rider).

The visually vibrant animated adventure/comedy movie and series unfold as Rapunzel acquaints herself with her parents, her kingdom and the people of Corona. Her irrepressible spirit and natural curiosity lead her to realize that there is so much more she needs to learn about the world and herself before she can assume her role as Princess of Corona. Beloved characters from the feature film accompany Rapunzel on her journey, including her partner in life Eugene; her loyal chameleon sidekick, Pascal; no-nonsense and dutiful horse, Maximus; and the Snuggly Duckling Pub Thugs. The series introduces newcomer Cassandra (voiced by Broadway’s Eden Espinosa), a tough-as-nails lady-in-waiting, who becomes Rapunzel’s good friend and confidante.

In the Disney Channel Original Movie, Rapunzel grapples with both the new responsibilities of being princess and the overprotective ways of her father. While she wholeheartedly loves Eugene, Rapunzel does not share his immediate desire to get married and settle down within the castle walls. Determined to live life on her own terms, she and Cassandra embark on a secret adventure where they encounter mystical rocks that magically cause Rapunzel’s long blonde hair to grow back. Impossible to break and difficult to hide, Rapunzel must learn to embrace her hair and all that it represents.

“Tangled Before Ever After” will be available on the Disney Channel app and Disney Channel VOD platforms beginning Friday, March 10. “Tangled: The Series” will be available beginning Friday, March 24. Following its U.S. debut, the Disney Channel Original Movie and series will roll out globally in 33 languages in 162 countries on Disney Channels worldwide.

Extensions of the story span new “Tangled” print and e-book titles including an original middle grade series by Leila Howland, inspired by the series from Disney Publishing; Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media will debut new playsets, dolls, role-play, apparel and accessories later this fall at Disney Store and all other retailers; the singles “Wind in My Hair” performed by Mandy Moore and “Life After Happily Ever After” performed by Mandy Moore, Zachary Levi and Clancy Brown, releasing on February 10 and March 10, respectively, from Walt Disney Records; and a DVD of the TV movie and four animated shorts releasing April 11 by Disney Studios.

Starring alongside Moore, Levi and Espinosa are Julie Bowen (“Modern Family”) as Rapunzel’s mother, Queen Arianna, and Clancy Brown (“Shawshank Redemption”) as Rapunzel’s father, King Frederic.

The recurring guest voice cast includes Jeffrey Tambor (“Transparent”) as Snuggly Duckling Pub Thug, Big Nose; Sean Hayes (“Will and Grace”) as Pete the Guard; Jeremy Jordan (“Supergirl”) as teen alchemist Varian; comedian Jeff Ross as Pub Thug, Hook Hand’s brother Hook Foot; Richard Kind (“Spin City”) as Uncle Monty; Paul F. Tompkins (“Comedy Bang! Bang!”) as Pub Thug, Shorty; Jonathan Banks (“Better Call Saul”) as Varian’s father, Quirin; Peter MacNicol (“Veep”) as Nigel the Advisor; Diedrich Bader (“American Housewife”) as Stan the Guard; M.C. Gainey (“Lost”) as Captain of the Guards; Laura Benanti (“Supergirl”) as Lady Caine; Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (“Lost”) as blacksmith Xavier; Pat Carroll (“The Little Mermaid”) as Old Lady Crowley; Charles Halford (“Rectify”) as Pub Thug, Vladimir; Steve Blum (“Star Wars Rebels”) as Pub Thug, Attila Buckethead; and James Monroe Iglehart (Broadway’s “Aladdin”) as Eugene’s friend Lance Strongbow.

And here’s what you need to know about the closure:

  • Emails will be sent to current paid members with further information about membership including refund details.
  • If you do not currently have a Club Penguin membership, you can continue to log in and enjoy the game as you were previously, until March 29, 2017.

Players in select languages and territories are welcome to pre-register their new penguin name on Club Penguin Island to receive exclusive in-game rewards when they log in for the first time. You have until Feb. 16, 2017, to pre-register here.

We are deeply grateful for your time and enthusiasm since the beginning, and we’d like to thank each and every one of you in the Club Penguin community – we can’t wait for you to see what’s coming next.

Disney Jr. Play ‘n’ Dine lunch to be replaced with Minnie’s Seasonal Dine

13061964_951775677029_580407882261591006_n

The Disney Jr Play ‘n Dine has been a staple of the Hollywood and Vine Restaurant at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for quite some time, and is considered a great place to grab a character breakfast or lunch with your toddler’s favorite Disney Jr Characters. However, that is about to change. We hear from  WDW Magic that starting May 14th of this year, the Disney Jr. Play n Dine lunch is going to be replaced with Minnie’s Seasonal Dine, which currently holds the Dinner time slot at Hollywood and Vine.

Guests will still be able to catch up with Sofia, Doc McStuffins, Jake, and Handy Manny at the breakfast seating, but Minnie, Mickey, Donald, Daisy and Goofy will now appear at lunchtime, with their attire based on the season of the time, just like the dinner seating. You can still meet some of these characters around the meet and greet areas outside the Disney Jr Live on Stage Location as well.

Disney’s website has not shown any changes to the Hollywood and Vine reservation page; it still states that Disney Jr is the lunch experience, but WDW Magic says that Reservations for the new lunchtime Minnie’s Seasonal Dine can be made starting February 1st. You’ll have to let us know if you can get a reservation for the lunch!

Petition to stop Donald Trump’s Animatronic Character from speaking in the Hall of Presidents

HOP

HOP

There is a petition going around online to prevent Donald Trump’s Animatronic Character from speaking in the Hall of Presidents.

The petition reads:

This is a petition to stop the inevitable Donald Trump animatronic figure from speaking, let alone giving a speech similar to the one given by Barack Obama and past incumbent Presidents, during the “Hall of Presidents” attraction at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

Donald Trump ran a Presidential campaign on hateful speech, misogyny, racism and xenophobia. In doing so, he has tainted the legacy of the American Presidency forever. He is perhaps best known for how he uses his words sometimes carelessly, yet oftentimes with the specific intent of degrading, insulting and demeaning not only those who do not agree with him on any given topic, but entire groups of people including Mexicans, Muslims, women and the disabled. These are just a few of the many he has specifically targeted. He has only shown himself to be at the very least intolerant and at the very worst dangerous.

The Magic Kingdom at Disney World is a place specifically designed for the enjoyment of children and families. Therefore, it is not an appropriate place for a Donald Trump speech. We ask that Walt Disney World take a stand against divisive and hurtful rhetoric and have the backs of millions of Americans and people worldwide whose day would be ruined by the depiction of a speech by Donald Trump.

The petition was started by Matthew Rogers of Brooklyn, NY and at the time of this writing has 2400 signatures.

There is also a counter petition to Keep tradition alive at Disney’s Hall of Presidents started by Jeff Skelton of Waynesboro, TN. You can sign it here

Donald Trump’s Animatronic Character will be unveiled in late June.

What do you think about these petitions? Let us know in the comment box below.
