Epcot Transforms For 24th Annual Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival

Epcot Transforms For 24th Annual Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival

Just one week from now, March 1st, Epcot will be kicking off its annual Flower & Garden Festival.  We were able to get a sneak peek of the transformation from Epcot’s first International Festival of the Arts, to its 24th annual Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival.  Here are some of the changes we spotted.

The topiaries and flowers are beginning to make their appearance.  Figment was put in place behind Spaceship Earth  for the Epcot International Festival of the Arts with primarily a purple bed of flowers.  He now has a fresh new bed of flowers around him in a wide variety of colors along with some large plastic lavender accent flowers.

Some of the other topiaries that are already on display are Phineas and Ferb along the walkway between Future World and World Showcase, Anna and Elsa in Norway, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in Germany, and Belle and Beast can be found in France.  There are magnificent pots of flowers along the walkways as well that are likely going to be part of additional displays.

The Outdoor Kitchens are being prepared around the primary walkway of Epcot’s World Showcase.

The flower and butterfly patterns around the pond are colorful and the children’s playground areas are really taking shape.

The process of switching from one festival to the next is still a work in progress.  We look forward to seeing the areas come to life when Epcot’s transformation for its 24th annual International Flower & Garden Festival is completed on March 1st for opening day.

Will you be attending Epcot’s International Flower & Garden Festival this year?  Please leave your comments in the box below.

Make Your Next Visit to Animal Kingdom Educational with the Caring for Giants Elephant Tour

Animal Kingdom Tour

Animal Kingdom Tour

This is definitely the year to be a visitor at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park.  With the new Rivers of Light nighttime water pageant that opened last week to the hotly anticipated Pandora- The World of Avatar which will begin welcoming guests the end of May,  its easy to lose sight of the fact that there are also over 1500 animals that make this park their home.  However, Disney recently announced a new Animal Kingdom offering that makes it easy to tap into the educational and zoological side of this spectacular park with their Caring for Giants Tour.

This 60-minute experience provides visitors with a birds-eye view into the life of the theme parks largest residents: a pack of Disney pachyderms. Visitors will find out about the steps that Cast Members take to care for the herd and cultural representatives will be on hand to tell visitors about the conservation efforts that are vital in ensuring the preservation of wild elephant populations throughout their homelands.  With guests getting as close as 80 feet away from these amazing creatures it provides a remarkable vantage point that visitors won’t soon forget.

The tour is open to anyone aged 4 and up and costs $30 per person. All children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by and adult. Tours are offered several times throughout the day between 10am and 4:30pm and depart from the Animal Experiences booth which is located across from the Kiliminjaro Safaris entrance in the Africa section of the park.

Reservations can be booked online or by calling 407-WDW-PLAY.

DVC Copper Creek Villas & Cabins Details at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

DVC

DVC

Disney has just released details on the newest Disney Vacation Club resort Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. They will feature rooms from Studios all the way to Waterfront Cabins with patio, and even Grand Villas! The details were posted yesterday on DVC News along with estimated point charts and full cabin details.

Most of the floors plans and sizes are quite similar to many of the other DVC Resorts:

  • Dedicated and lockoff Studio: 345 sq ft (Boulder Ridge is 356 sq ft)
  • Dedicated and lockoff One-bedroom: 761 sq ft (BRV is 727 sq ft)
  • Dedicated and lockoff Two-bedroom: 1105 sq ft (BRV is 1080 sq ft)
  • Cabin: With patio and porch included: 1737 sq ft
  • Grand Villa: Huge 3 bedroom/3 bath villa: width of 47 feet by length of 76.4 feet; 3204 sq ft

The Grand Villas will not be on every floor of the resort, mostly likely they are all end units with gorgeous views.  The waterfront cabins are very similar to the Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Resort but they will come with a two sided fireplace and outdoor patios. Disney is building 12-14 cabins and actual room numbers are unknown at this time.

Here are some construction photos we got last week:

There are no details on when sales will be coming available and point breakdown is a bit of a guessing game right now. The speculation on the point breakdown is:

  • Deluxe Studio: 18 points per night
  • One Bedroom Villa:  36 points per night
  • Two Bedroom Villa:  46 points per night
  • Cabin:  115 points per night
  • Three Bedroom Grand Villa:  122 points per night

Again these are not set in stone, Disney should have official numbers out soon. For more info please check out the DVC News website.

In case you missed it Lisette was out at the Geyser Point Bar & Grill last week trying out the all new restaurant. Be sure to check out her review of this yummy restaurant.

Several Caribbean Beach Resort Eateries to Close on May 1st

Caribbean Beach Resort

Caribbean Beach Resort

The Old Port Royale Food Court, Shutters, Calypso Trading Post and the Banana Cabana Pool Bar are all slated to close this May as part of the redevelopment of Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort.

Visitors staying at the resort during this time will still be able to eat at Centertown which will serve breakfast and dinner.  In addition, a variety of on-the-go items will be available at the markets located in Aruba, Jamaica and Martinique.

These closures are a part of a major expansion and renovation project that the resort will undergo during the bulk of 2017. It is rumored that the restaurants listed above will be making way for new and exciting waterfront dining options.

Guests scheduled to stay at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort over the next few months are receiving letters from Walt Disney World notifying them of the changes and in some instances guests have reported being moved to another moderate resort.

The renovations are expected to conclude in late 2017.

Readers are encouraged to watch this space for the latest Caribbean Beach Resort renovation news.

Absolutely Fabulous Disney Princess Glitter Heels

Disney Princess Glitter Heels

Sometimes there are cute Disney items I want that are casual and functional. Sometimes I want Disney items simply because they are absolutely fantastic! These Disney Princess Glitter Heels by Siegda on Etsy have completly stolen my heart.

Absolutely Fabulous Disney Princess Glitter Heels

These shoes are so stunning! The Disney Princesses dance upon a royal purple background, with golden filigree and roses. The heels are finished off in shimmering gold glitter. Best of all, you can get them in a variety of styles, from pumps, to sandals, peep toes to ballet flats! I am fawning over these, but I would probably get a pair of the 3 inch ankle strap ones. I’m not the most graceful gal at the ball, haha!

Are you as obsessed with these Disney Princess Glitter Heels as I am?
