Gifts Cards for Caribbean Beach Resort Offered to Reservations Made Prior to March 20

We recently shared with you that Walt Disney World had sweeten the compensation plan offered to guests impacted by the renovations taking place at the Caribbean Beach Resort. Well, it looks like the deal may have been a little too sweet for future reservations. Disney announced today that guests who booked reservations at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort prior to March 19, 2017, for arrival May 1, 2017 – June 30, 2018, will receive a $75 Disney Gift Card, per night/per room. The news release went on to note that the gift card offer will not be available for reservations booked March 20, 2017 or after. If you were planning on taking advantage of the free Disney gift card it looks like you better have your reservation booked by this Sunday, March 19.

As a reminder, Old Port Royale Food Court, Shutters at Old Port Royale, Banana Cabana Pool Bar and Calypso Trading Post will be closed for refurbishment May 1, 2017-June 30, 2018. A variety of dining options will be available. Here are the latest food option updates:

An all-you-care-to-eat buffet offering will be available for breakfast and dinner.
A selection of grab-and-go meals will be available for purchase in three new island markets located in the Aruba, Jamaica and Martinique regions of the resort.
Additional a la carte offerings will be available at mobile food vending locations.
In-room dining will remain available, including pizza, sandwiches and pasta.

The feature pool—Fuentes del Morro Pool—and leisure pools will remain available.

Guests at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim will now have the ability to always have a charged device while visiting the parks! Fuel Rod kiosks have been set up at the parks and resorts at the Disneyland Resort. There are locations in Disneyland, California Adventure, Downtown Disney as well as the 3 Disney resort hotels: Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and Paradise Pier Hotel.

At the Fuel Rod stations guests can purchase a portable charging pod for their device for $30. When the Fuel Rod charger runs out of charge, they can go back to the kiosk and swap it out for a fully charged Fuel Rod at no additional cost.

New Video Update on Star Wars Themed Lands

Disney has just released an update on the progress of the Star Wars-themed lands being created at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resorts!

In the Star Wars area, these two new immersive lands will transport guests to a never-before-seen planet, a remote trading port and one of the last stops before wild space where Star Warscharacters and their stories come to life and where guests will find themselves in the middle of the action.

Two incredible new signature attractions are being created: one that lets guests take the controls of Millennium Falcon on a customized secret mission, and an epic Star Wars adventure that puts guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance.

Check out how the construction activity is shaping up across the 14-acre construction sites as this new world is created.

As Disney Chairman and CEO Bob Iger announced last month, the Star Wars-themed lands are scheduled to open in 2019. Keep checking back for more exciting updates to share in the future as work progresses on each of these galactic lands.

Mexican Chocolate Maker, Vanuato Kakaw, will be giving free chocolate samples to guests visiting Epcot’s Mexican Pavilion in Walt Disney World from March 16th to March 20th. Samples will be given out in the Plaza Se Los Amigos area of the Mexican Pavilion. Delicious samples of white, milk, and dark chocolate will be offered in a combination of flavors.

Various locations around Walt Disney World often give out samples and trials of items to help entice you to want to buy more. Always keep your eyes peeled for samples at bakery and candy locations as this is where you may frequently find them. Disney XD Orders A Second Season Of “Big Hero 6: The Series” Before It’s Fall Premiere

SAN FRANSOKYO – Disney XD has ordered an early second season of the highly anticipated “Big Hero 6 The Series” before the first season even premieres this fall. Based on Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Academy Award-winning feature film inspired by the Marvel comics of the same name, the series stars Maya Rudolph as Aunt Cass, Jamie Chung as Go Go, Scott Adsit as Baymax, Ryan Potter as Hiro, Genesis Rodriguez as Honey Lemon, Khary Payton as Wasabi, Brooks Wheelan as Fred, Alan Tudyk as Alistair Krei, David Shaughnessy as Heathcliff and Marvel Comics legend Stan Lee as Fred’s dad.

The announcement was made today by Marc Buhaj, senior vice president, Programming and general manager, Disney XD. Buhaj said, “Mark, Bob and Nick have delivered a dynamic adventure series that follows the Big Hero 6 superhero team, led by audience favorites Hiro and Baymax. We are honored to have the opportunity to further expand the elaborate world and engaging characters of ‘Big Hero 6 The Series’ with this early second season order.”

The Disney Television Animation-produced series picks up immediately following the events of the feature film and continues the adventures and friendship of 14-year-old tech genius Hiro and his compassionate, cutting-edge robot Baymax. Along with their friends Wasabi, Honey Lemon, Go Go and Fred, they form the legendary superhero team Big Hero 6 and embark on high-tech adventures as they protect their city from an array of scientifically enhanced villains. In his normal day-to-day life, Hiro faces daunting academic challenges and social trials as the new prodigy at San Fransokyo Institute of Technology.

Disney Junior Orders Additional Seasons of ‘Mickey and the Roadster Racers’ and ‘The Lion Guard’

If you’re like me you’ve fallen in love with the new Disney Junior shows Lion Guard, and Mickey’s Roadster Racers! So it makes me super excited that Disney Junior has ordered new seasons, of both hit animated TV shows!

“Mickey and the Roadster Racers,” is 2017’s #1 series among preschooler-targeted networks! Since its January premiere, it has reached over 41 million viewers nationwide. Disney Junior, geared towards kids age 2-7 and the #1 preschooler-dedicated network for the past five years, has also ordered a third season of its popular animated series “The Lion Guard.” The announcement was made today by Nancy Kanter, executive vice president, Content and Creative Strategy, Disney Channels Worldwide, and general manager, Disney Junior Worldwide.

Kanter said, “‘Mickey and the Roadster Racers’ and ‘The Lion Guard’ uniquely embody Disney Junior’s goal of delivering inspired storytelling with humor and heart. “Mickey and the Roadster Racers” is a madcap car-racing adventure series for preschoolers that takes Disney’s #1 star, Mickey Mouse, and his pals Minnie, Pluto, Goofy, Daisy and Donald, along with their unique transforming vehicles, on humorous high-spirited races around the globe, as well as hometown capers in Hot Dog Hills. Off the racetrack, Minnie and Daisy also run their own successful business as Happy Helpers, solving problems for anyone in need of a helping hand. The new MagicBand 2 that has been shipping to the homes of Walt Disney World Resort Guests prior to arrival are now available to purchase wherever MagicBands are sold. The solid color choices cost $12.99 each and include pink, blue, red, green, orange, gray, yellow and purple. Graphic designs are available beginning at $22.99 each.

Guests are able to mix and match different-colored bands in order to create their favorite multi-colored band since the center icon of the Magic Band 2 is removable. The center piece can also be used with the new MagicKeeper carabiner and accessories beginning at $9.99. Wear the icon on a purse, diaper bag, belt loop or in a Mickey Mouse or Minnie Mouse lanyard clip to wear around your neck. A mini-screwdriver is included with each MagicKeeper to help make changing the icon easy.

MagicBand 2 is complimentary for Guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel. Guests who have not customized their MagicBands in advance via their My Disney Experience account will receive the default gray color upon check-in at the front desk. Off-site guests can purchase MagicBands and link their theme park tickets and Memory Maker if so desired.
