St Patrick’s Day at Downtown Disney in Disneyland

If you’ll be visiting Disneyland Resort over the upcoming St Patrick’s Day holiday, then you’ll want to know about some special offers you can take advantage of at Downtown Disney during your visit.

If sweets are your thing, then you’ll want to head over to Sprinkles to grab Irish Chocolate cupcakes made with Bailey’s Irish Cream, or Green Velvet cupcakes (Sprinkles iconic Red Velvet cupcakes with a green hue), both available through March 31st. Guests with a sweet tooth can also visit Marceline’s Confectionery, for a St. Patrick’s Day specialty apple – mouse ears under a leprechaun hat plus green shorts with Mickey’s signature buttons – available through Saturday, March 18th.

On Friday, March 17th, Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen is offering a traditional St. Patrick’s Day meal of corned beef and cabbage and, if you’re in the mood, a “Pot o’ Gold” concoction of Jameson Irish Whiskey with some secret lucky charms guaranteed to line your pockets with gold. Don’t forget to head on over the ESPN Zone after, where any pale beer can be turned green upon request!

Jamba Juice also gets festive with a special offer – buy one smoothie, get another FREE – Thursday, March 16th, through Sunday, March 19th. Options include Apple ‘N Greens, Greens ‘N Ginger, Amazing Greens or Matcha Green Tea Blast.

Reese Witherspoon will be at The Planet Hollywood Observatory in Disney Springs on Friday!

Award-winning actress, Reese Witherspoon, along with founder and CEO of Planet Hollywood, Robert Earl, will be at the ribbon cutting event of the new Planet Hollywood Observatory at Disney Springs this Friday, March 17.

The event starts at 6 PM EST outside of Planet Hollywood. The restaurant opened at Disney Springs back in January of this year but this event will serve as the official opening ceremony for the restaurant.

This will be the second celebrity to make an appearance at The Planet Hollywood Observatory this week. Pop Icon, Britney Spears, was spotted at the venue and around the Walt Disney World Parks on Monday.

Anaheim and Orlando Ranked as Top Spring Break Destinations by Trip Advisor

Fans of Disney already know that a great Spring Break destination can be found at either Disneyland in Anaheim, California or the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida. As a bonus, we see now that Trip Advisor agrees with us Disney Addicts!

Trip Advisor recently put together a top 10 list of Spring Break Destinations that allow travelers to get more “bang for their buck”. Both of Disney’s Theme Park locations made the top 10. In fact, Anaheim came in 2nd place on the list, and Orlando came in 3rd.

New Specialty Food and Beverage Items at Disneyland to Celebrate Pirates of the Caribbean 50th Anniversary

Get ye ol taste buds ready to set sail on a culinary voyage with these new Food and Beverage items being released to celebrate 50 years of Pirates of the Caribbean. Starting March 16th, these new items inspired by the popular attraction will be available at several locations around Disneyland Park!

Start yer mornin’ with a Caribbean Breakfast Burrito, filled with scrambled eggs, Andouille sausage, rice, sweet potatoes, black beans and cheddar cheese available at Mint Julep Bar and Royal Street Veranda. At lunchtime, Royal Street Veranda and Harbour Galley will serve a hearty Calypso Caribbean Chicken Stew featuring Caribbean-spiced chicken stewed with carrots, onions, celery, potatoes and yucca. At French Market Restaurant, the Buccaneer Pulled Pork Sandwich is piled high with jerk-spiced pork, topped with sweet and tangy barbecue sauce and pineapple Caribbean-style slaw, and served with fried yucca.

If ye be seekin’ gold, the Lost Treasure Beignets are for you! These lemon-flavored beignets shimmer as good as gold, and can be found at Mint Julep Bar and Café Orleans. Or try the Golden Churro, from the nearby churro cart—it’s said to lure the most stubborn sailor to its call.

At Café Orleans, try the Steak Sandwich, topped with white cheddar sauce, bacon jam, arugula and cherry tomatoes, and served with sweet potato waffle fries.

For an extra special treat, try Fruits de Mer at the Disneyland original, Blue Bayou Restaurant – featuring pan-seared red snapper, sautéed shrimp, scallop and hush puppy, served on a bed of spinach with spicy shrimp sauce and rémoulade.

Drink up me hearties, yo ho! The Jolly Roger Punch features a blend of tropical fruit juices—pineapple, orange and mango. You can find the special punch at French Market Restaurant, Mint Julep Bar, Harbour Galley and Royal Street Veranda. A limited edition, souvenir Pirates of the Caribbean stein will also available at the same locations.

Retro Disney Afternoon Game Collection Announced by Capcom

Take a trip down memory lane with a throwback pack filled with six classic games from Disney and Capcom.

Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, announced today the release of The Disney Afternoon Collection. The Collection is a compilation of six games that feature iconic Disney TV characters from the 80s and 90s. The restored classic games contain original Disney characters on fun-filled adventures while featuring up-to-date technology with crisp 1080 HD support. The games also feature all new modes that can be enjoyed by players of all ages.

Players will be able to relive their childhood afternoons with Disney and introduce a whole new generation to Disney gaming with with these classic including:

Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers – This classic lets players team up with a friend in co-op play as they assume the roles of the mischievous Chip and Dale as they take on memorable villain Fat Cat and attempt to solve the mystery of a missing kitten.

All six games are new and improved HD versions of the originals and feature a number of filtering options to replicate that classic retro feel. The Disney Afternoon Collection will offer new ways to play the classic “Boss Rush” and “Time Attack” modes for each game. The games will feature a new “Rewind” option that will make it easier for newcomers to get in on the fun. The “Rewind” option allows users to rewind time and enjoy a swift recovery from blunders. For all the Disney history buffs, the in-game “Disney Museum” will provide a wealth of content to celebrate the era of the original releases featuring concept art, character art, and music- all preserved in their original glory!

The Disney Afternoon Collection will be available by digital download across North America and Europe for $19.99 starting on April 18th, 2017 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.

Cool and Comfy Keds Minnie Mouse Canvas Sneakers

When I was a kid I loved Keds, I loved how comfortable they were, and that they still looked cooked and in style. I love that these Keds Minnie Mouse Canvas Sneakers have a touch of Disney, but aren’t too over the top either.

The Keds Minnie Mouse oxford has a full face Minnie printed upper canvas. They feature gold colored eyelets just for Minnie, versus the usual silver-tone. Plus there is also a Minnie polka dot print lining inside! The Keds champion oxford does run a bit narrow, but the canvas is still very comfy! They come in a bright nautical blue, sleek black, and simple white.

Chris Iannuzzi a Puppet Master at Walt Disney Parks & Resorts Creative Entertainment has just posted a sneak peek of the BB-8 Meet & Greet from Hong Kong Disneyland.

According to his post BB-8 is now greeting guests at Hong Kong Disneyland, from the video above you can see how excited he is to be there!

He’s also thrilled to announce that he’ll be coming to Star Wars Launch Bay at Walt Disney World on April 15th!!!

New Pandora: World of Avatar ‘Placemaking’ Video Released

Excitement is building for the opening of Pandora: The World of Avatar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Today we get another look inside this area that is scheduled to open May, 27, 2017.

In this latest video from Walt Disney Imagineering, several members of the Pandora project team explain just how important research has been in bringing Pandora: The World of Avatar to life. Culture plays a huge part in the park’s other lands, like Asia and Africa. Therefore, researching a realistic culture that would exist on Pandora has been a priority.

In addition to culture, placemaking has also extended to designing what guests will hear when they enter the new land. Get a closer look in this video!

The Tree of Life Otter Pups at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Have Been Named

The three Asian small-clawed otter pups that were introduced at the Tree of Life in Disney’s Animal Kingdom on January 18 now have names! The triplets have very unique personalities that have contributed to their names.

Raakshas

Raakshas is a Hindi word meaning monster. This young male’s favorite pastimes include exploring his enrichment and food with his mouth (unlike his siblings who use their paws) and pouncing on his brother and sister. In the video below you can see him playing and pouncing with his dad, Luke.

Pintar

Pintar is Indonesian for smart or clever. The second male was the first one to discover that if he moved away from his siblings he could catch more fish with less competition. The Care team expects great things from this smart boy.

Pitakee

Pitakee Pyaaree (or Pitakee for short) is Hindi for daddy’s girl. Like her father, she was the least enthusiastic about learning to swim. Luke would pull the pups out of the water while Nitnoy (mom) was teaching them to swim. Once she was big enough, Pitakee followed her father¹s example by attempting to pull her brothers out of the water when they were swimming. She also solicits food from her father often, and he willingly obliges (which is a big deal for him).

The playful otter pups can be found on the left side of the Tree of Life at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. They spend most of their time on land, but when in the water, they can hold their breath for six to eight minutes. Asian small-clawed otters are vulnerable in the wild because many of the wetland areas they call home are in decline due to a lack of water.

Pirates of the Caribbean at Disneyland Park celebrates its 50th anniversary this weekend with special food & beverage options, entertainment and limited-time merchandise. Disney has released a sneak peek of the commemorative apparel and collective pins that will be available to purchase at Disneyland this month.

Guests can find several individual pins with a limited edition size of 2,500. These pins will also be offered in a boxed set containing one completer pin (500 edition size). The limited edition pins, Annual Passholder pin, and boxed pin set will be released on March 16 at the following Disneyland Park and Downtown Disney locations:

Westward Ho – Frontierland
20th Century Music Co. – Main Street, U.S.A.
Little Green Store Command – Tomorrowland
Disney’s Pin Traders – Downtown Disney District

The “I Was There” Shirts will be available at both Disneyana on Main Street, U.S.A. and Pieces of Eight in New Orleans Square on March 18. One shirt was designed specifically for Annual Passholders. Passholders should present a valid Annual Pass in order to purchase the exclusive shirt and limited edition pin (3,000 edition size).

The red-colored shirt will also be available via DisneyStore.com/ParkEvents from March 20 – 26 for those not able to make it to Disneyland Park this weekend. Allow 3 – 5 weeks for delivery.

Pirates of the Caribbean opened in New Orleans Square at Disneyland Park on March 18, 1967 and quickly became an instant classic.
