Be Dazzled By the Technology of the China Pavilion's Newest Film

One of the updates shared this week during the jam-packed D23 Expo was that a new film is being created for the China pavilion at Epcot. The focus will be on the majesty of this amazing country. Not only will visitors to Epcot’s World Showcase be “wowed” by the breathtaking sights and sounds of China but the film will also utilize the latest technology to dazzle audiences even further.

Following in the footsteps of epic attractions like Epcot’s Soarin, the team assembled to film this production will be using an immersive camera system to great a seamless Circle-Vision experience for the China Pavilion.

There’s no news yet on definite timelines for this production but keep following along with Chip and Co and we promise to keep you posted.

Take part in Raglan Road’s 6th annual Great Irish Hooley music festival and enjoy live music performances from three talanted artists. The festival will take place September 1st – 4th , 2017 and is sure to be the highlight of your visit to Disney Springs.

Celebrating Irish song, dance, food and drink over the long Labor Day weekend, the Great Irish Hooley kicks off performances beginning at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, and continues each day and night through late Monday and into the wee hours.

With contemporary Irish cuisine, Irish craft beers, hand-crafted cocktails and day-into-night entertainment, the Great Irish Hooley promises a high-voltage music festival for all who drop by or reserve a table. This year’s Hooley entertainment headliners include:

Elevation — Back by popular demand and appearing at Raglan Road for the first time in four years, this stellar U2 tribute act will play two special nighttime shows on Sept. 2 and 3 paying homage to the U2 world tour celebrating 30 years of the ground-breaking Joshua Tree album.
Lisa Canny Band – The outrageously talented Lisa Canny and her band combine traditional Irish, R&B and Hip Hop. She will appear at Raglan Road for three weeks beginning August 30 and will perform nightly during the Hooley.
Gary O’Meara Band – O’Meara is a traditional Irish banjo player with a prolific career as a solo artist and as a member of multiple legendary Irish music acts.

The Raglan Road Irish Dancers will perform throughout the Great Irish Hooley and face painters will be on hand to decorate Hooley guests.

Well good news! 2018 Disneyland vacation packages are now available to book up to 499 days prior to your checkout date, which is currently through November 29, 2018.

In order to book your Disneyland vacation package it only takes a fully refundable $200 deposit. The remaining balance would be due 30 days prior to check-in.

The New Minnie Van Service Will Work With The Lyft App

A few days ago we brought you one of the first guest sightings of the recently announced Minnie Vans at the Boardwalk Inn. Everyone was so excited to see it and had so many questions that I thought a second article was in order giving you all the information we have learned so far about the program.

Overview

The Minnie Van Service is a new personal point-to-point ride service designed to take guests around the Walt Disney World Resort property. The internal bus system that Disney provides only takes guests from the resorts to the parks or to Disney Springs and then back again. There is currently not a direct way (provided by Disney) for guests to travel from one resort to another. Until now…

The New Minnie Van Service Will Work With The Lyft App

The Minnie Van service is currently in soft opening this week. After that, the Minnie Vans will be available through Lyft, a ride sharing service utilized through an app on your phone (available for both iOS and Android phones). When guests open the Lyft app from anywhere in the Walt Disney World Resort the Minnie Van Service is unlocked. A cast member at the Bell Services desk of the resort can help guests get started with the app if they are unfamiliar. The Lyft app will allow guests to request a ride from their smartphone and pay directly through the app.

***We have heard through the grapevine that while the Minnie Van Service is in soft opening, rides are being offered complimentary for the week. But we haven’t officially confirmed this yet.

Other Details We Have Learned

The drivers are Walt Disney World Cast Members
Guests of Disney’s BoardWalk and Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts are the first to try out this pilot program.
The Minnie Van is actually not a van at all but a Chevrolet Traverse mid-sized SUV which can seat up to 7 or 8 passengers (including the driver) across 3 rows.
The service costs a $20 flat fee per one-way trip. As with most things, this amount is subject to change.
Currently the hours of operation are 6:30 am until 12:30 am
Two car seats are in each vehicle for use

Fuel Rod kiosks have spread to Disneyland Resort! I can’t tell you how many times I have been in the parks enjoying making memories with my family, only discover my cell phone battery’s life has reached its end. It seems like it always happens at the most inconvenient times. Portable chargers are a great way to solve this problem and they are now readily available across Disneyland Resort.

Disneyland Fuel Rod

The portable chargers can be purchased for a one-time flat fee of $30. The $30 gets you a fully charged Fuel Rod and adapters for Apple and Android devices. The chargers have the ability to be recharged in a standard wall outlet or you can swap them out for a new fully charged Fuel Rod at no additional cost.

Mickey’s Halloween Party has returned to Disneyland Resort and with Halloween Time’s expansion to Disney California Adventure, comes changes for party guests. Halloween Party guests will be able to enjoy Disney California Adventure park as a “pre-party,” arriving three hours prior to party time, guests can explore both parks with their party admission. Mickey’s Halloween Party will also include Disney PhotoPass, to capture all your spooky memories.

Halloween Screams, a special fireworks spectacular
Frightfully Fun Parade featuring The Headless Horseman

Disney California Adventure park is introducing a new seasonal experience, this fall. Join the festivities and celebrate family and the spirit of the Mexican tradition of Día de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead. This new seasonal experience will be held from Sept. 15 through Nov. 2.

The Dia de los Muertos event will be an immersive celebration filled with special entertainment that will feature musicians and dancers, even interactive activities that include a representation of Mexican folk art. There will even be special décor as well as foods inspired by this Mexican celebration of family. The concept art for the Aborl De La Vida or Tree of Life looks enchanting with bold and beautiful colors that complement the essence of the tradition.

The new seasonal experience will also feature the upcoming Disney•Pixar animated motion picture, “Coco”. There will be special themed experiences inspired by the film as part of the celebration. On November 5, select elements of the celebration will move to “a bug’s land” where they will be presented alongside a special sneak peek of the film. The sneak peek of the film will continue through the holiday season until January 7, 2018.

Copper Creek Villas & Cabins Now Open at Disney's Wilderness Lodge

Today marks the official grand opening of Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.

A breathtaking DVC property, Copper Creek Villas was inspired by the industry and architecture of the Pacific Northwest and features natural elements like wood and stone in its design as well as features that give a tip of the hat to the American transcontinental railroad.

The property offers a range of room options to accommodate families of all sizes including: Deluxe Studios which sleep up to four guests, larger one and two bedroom villas and there’s even 3 bedroom options for large groups travelling together. Many of the properties also boast full kitchens and in room laundry facilities.

In addition there are 26 luxurious waterfront Cascade Cabins that need to be seen to be believed. Each cabin features two-bedrooms, has 2 bathrooms, plush living room and dining room spaces along with a screened in wraparound porch with a private hot tub. The cabins can comfortably sleep a family of 8.

While staying at Copper Creek Villas & Cabins guests have shared access to all of the amazing amenities at Wilderness Lodge Resort including the Geyser Point Bar & Grill which opened earlier this year and offers amazing views of Bay Lake. There’s also Roaring Forks, the properties original quick service restaurant which has recently re-opened and now features a new look and outdoor seating.

Whoopi Goldberg Wants To Bring "Song Of The South" Back

There were so many surprises announced at the D23 Expo this past weekend. The first one of the convention was that Whoopi Goldberg was to be a surprise addition to the Disney Legends honored on Friday.

In an interview with Yahoo Movies Goldberg was asked what her favorite movie is. Instead of giving that answer she instead wanted to talk about the movie Song of the South.

“I’m trying to find a way to get people to start having conversations about bringing Song of the South back,” she said of the film. “So we can talk about what it was and where it came from and why it came out.”

Goldberg also referenced the controversial crows in Disney’s 1941 animated classic Dumbo. “I want people to start putting crows in the merchandise, because those crows sing the song in Dumbo everybody remembers.” The song Goldberg refers to is “When I See An Elephant Fly”. “I want to highlight all the little stuff people maybe miss in movies.”

Song of the South is based on the collection of Uncle Remus stories as adapted by Joel Chandler Harris and is set in the south shortly after the end of the Civil War and the abolition of slavery.

Although the movie was a financial success when it premiered in 1946 it has remained a subject of controversy due to critics describing the film’s portrayal of African Americans as racist and offensive.

Disney never released Song of the South on any home video format in the United States but the cartoon characters of the movie continue to be featured in books and in the extremely popular Disney attraction Splash Mountain.
