Marvel / Disney’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Dave Bautista and director James Gunn kicked off a world tour in Tokyo with a red carpet fan event at the Shin-Toyosu Brillia Running Stadium.
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2” is in U.S. theaters May 5, 2017!
Maybe it was Cate Blanchett looking crazy awesome, or Chris Hemsworth’s haircut, maybe it was Hulk in full armor, but the first trailer for “Thor: Ragnarok” topped the Disney and Marvel record books. The film from Taika Waititi scored 136 million views in the first 24 hours of release.
That mark passed the previous Disney high of 127.6 million for Beauty and the Beast and the Marvel record of 94 million views for Captain America: Civil War. The impressive debut still put it well short of the world record holder It, which recently scared up 197 million views on its first day.
Ragnarok marks Hemsworth’s third solo go-round as the Norse God and the first non-Avengers flick for Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk. Also onboard for the film, which hits theaters on Nov. 3, are Tom Hiddleston, Tessa Thompson, and Idris Elba.

Last week we reported that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson would be starring in the latest film adaptation of a Disney classic. The ride, the movie “The Jungle Cruise“. Now that the movie is greenlit, The Rock surprised park guests at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom park by taking over the skipper duties of the Jungle Cruise attraction.

Once I committed to our Disney partners to make the movie based off the JUNGLE CRUISE ride, I wanted to dive head first into the research. So I headed to Walt Disney World and surprised tourists by commandeering the JUNGLE CRUISE boat. It was a GREAT day on the river. Learned a lot.. for example, it takes approximately 12.6 minutes for all the passengers to get over the shock of me jumping on the boat and thinking I’m a DJ look-a-like. One passenger even said, “Oh the real Rock is much smaller than this guy”. I threw his ass off the boat. Jokes aside (and yes, with me as the Cruise Skipper there will be an abundance of puns) this is such an amazing, fantastical and cool world to build out. Best part about this surprise research day was knowing how FUN of an experience we’re gonna work hard to create for families around the world. That’s the part that gets my excited the most. The movie. The ride. The experience. It’s the cruise of a lifetime. And trust me, you’ll want me as your Skipper. Just don’t forget to bring the Skipper’s beer. Now that’s awesome! I wonder if The Rock just enjoyed the ride or if he actually took over the part of the Skipper on the trip. I’d love to see Disney release a video of The Rock hosting the Jungle Cruise ride in the park as a promotion for the film. That could be a lot of fun.

New Star Wars products are launching this month at both Star Wars Celebration 2017 and at select locations in Disney Parks. Here is look at a few of the items fans can add to their Star Wars collection.
Merchandise Product Developer, Cody Hampton and his team team are rolling out a limited release, boxed set with four Astromech droid action figures inspired by characters from the animated series, “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.” Additionally, three limited release action figures are making their debut including C1-10P “Chopper” from Disney XD’s animated series “Star Wars Rebels;” a two-pack featuring R2-D2 and C-3PO celebrating the 40th Anniversary of Star Wars: A New Hope; and a red Protocol droid, R-3D0, that was briefly seen in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
The pre-packaged figures have interchangeable parts that can be mixed and matched with action figures created at the Droid Factory at Hollywood Studios.
Other products include three emitters for the popular Star Wars Build-Your-Own Lightsaber experience at Disney Parks. These items were inspired by lightsabers seen in Star Wars Rebels. Also, look for an adorable plush Ewok scout named Paploo as seen in Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi. This is the 12th character from the limited release Ewok plush collection, and was created especially for Star Wars Celebration 2017.
These products can be found in Booth 3463 at Star Wars Celebration, a Star Wars fan event coming to the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida from April 13-16, 2017. Starting April 17th guests can find action figures and the Build-Your-Own Lightsaber parts in select merchandise locations at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts.

Reports over at wdwinfo.com that Disneyland Resort will soon begin testing WiFi hot spots throughout both Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park.
WiFi is currently available for guests staying at one Disneyland’s three onsite properties. However beginning on April 24th, visitors to the parks may be alerted that testing is taking place. Guests from this date forward, may find the new WiFi network on their device and should be able to join after accepting Disney’s standard Terms and Conditions.
Guests should note that during the testing period, access may be sporadic.
These changes are an initial step in launching Disneyland’s new MaxPass program which will rely on WiFi technology. As we reported back in early January. Disneyland will begin offering a separate paid FastPass/PhotoPass option for an introductory rate of $10/day. This new MaxPass allows guests to use the Disneyland App to view and download all of their PhotoPass photos as well as choose FastPass times for both The Matterhorn Bobsleds in Disneyland Park and Toy Story Midway Mania in Disney California Adventure.
This technology upgrade will make a welcome change for Disney visitors who have had to rely on cellular networks while at the parks.

In the news release issued by Disney, the positions that they are looking to fill will be at all four of the Walt Disney World theme parks, two water parks, the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, Disney Springs, and at over 20 of the Disney Resorts. Openings will be for workers in food and beverage service, bus drivers, lifeguards, and parking attendants.

The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort has completed a $5 million renovation of its 329,000 square feet of meeting space, refreshing every meeting room at both the Swan and Dolphin resorts. The renovation included new technology and updating the carpeting and paint the meeting spaces.
The meeting space refresh is part of the resort’s multi-phase, multi-year $140 million redesign project. The project also includes the transformation of all 2,267 guest rooms at the resort and the lobby in the Dolphin resort. In 2015, the Swan guest rooms were completed, and the Dolphin Resort guest rooms and lobby are scheduled for completion in fall of 2017. The new lobby will be a sleek contemporary space featuring new dining and beverage options including a bar and lounge.
