I always have the most magical feeling wash over me as I walk through the entrance of the Magic Kingdom. The Magic Kingdom Plaque when you walk through the entryway, is truly a part of that feeling. Wouldn’t it be awesome to have a replica of the Magic Kingdom Entrance Plaque in our own homes, like this one from MovieProps2000 on Etsy?

When you walk through the train tunnel to enter Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom you pass under this greeting: “Here you leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy.” This stunning resin prop casting measures approx 9″ in diameter by 1/2″ thick. It has brass powder embedded into it in the casting process for an authentic brass metal appearance, that gives it to give it a brass shine. L.A. Chargers to Host Draft Party at Disneyland

The Los Angeles Chargers will be celebrating this year’s draft picks with a little help from Disneyland where they will be hosting a draft party on Thursday April 27th, 2017.

According to ESPN, the chargers announced that tickets for the event sold out within two hours with the party only open to season ticket members. The event will be held at ESPN Zone in Downtown Disney. There are also some great perks as part of this event including twilight pack passes for those wanting to pay a visit to the theme parks on the same day. Parking and admission to the event is free of charge for those that managed to RSVP. The party will run from 9am to 1pm PST.

Season ticket holders who weren’t able to score a reservation for this coveted event will still be offered complimentary twilight passes to Disneyland for opening night of the draft which should result in wonderful show of support for the Chargers across Disneyland’s theme parks.

Expected to attend this event are receivers Anthony Mill and Kassim Osgood.

Everyone is Still Anxiously Awaiting Disney’s Free Dining Offer

Disney’s Free Dining is about to POP darlings! The big Question is WHEN? Rumors have been swirling for months about when Disney will release their Free Dining Offer. And unfortunately we are still waiting.

This time of year I wish I had a crystal ball, I would no doubt be everyone’s new BFF. I don’t have a crystal ball, but I do keep my ears open just in case I might hear something extra magical. Up until today many have been speculating that April 24th is the big day, and it may be.

Keep in mind folks this is in no way an official announcement of any kind, and totally a rumor right now. But, I would most definitely keep April 24th on your Free Dining radar.

Chip created a Free Dining email list that will notify you when and if any special Disney Offers are released.

New Amazing Nighttime Photos of Pandora Released

Today Bloomberg has released some amazing new nighttime photos of Pandora – The World of Avatar. We can now see what this land will look like when the sun goes down. And it is stunning!

Pandora has been designed by Disney Imagineers to give guests two unique visual experiences, depending on when they visit this new land. Animal Kingdom is no longer only a daytime park. Pandora comes alive once the sun sets inside its glowing bioluminescent jungle.

Many doubted that settings from the movie “Avatar“, which were entirely generated by computer , could be brought to life in a fully dimensional land for guests to experience. Even Joe Rohde, a veteran executive in Disney’s Imagineering division, didn’t think it could be done.

But in true Disney fashion, they found a way to make the impossible, possible.

Pandora – The World of Avatar will begin amazing it’s guests, both in the daytime and at night, starting May 27.

Splash Mountain Closing End of Summer for Refurbishment

Magic Kingdom’s Splash Mountain will undergo a three month refurbishment at the end of this summer. The scheduled refurbishment is set to begin on August 28 and continue through November 16. The attraction is expected to reopen to guests on November 17.

Guardians of the Galaxy Blast in at Build-A-Bear Workshop

Shaping up to be the must-have Disney souvenir of 2017, the Beauty and The Beast-themed Enchanted Rose Sipper Cups have been flying off the shelves at Be Our Guest restaurant. However, good new for those dying to get their hands on one of these take home glasses but who weren’t able to secure a coveted Advanced Dining Reservation at Be Our Guest – our very own Chip stumbled across a fantastic find while at the Magic Kingdom this morning!

That’s right. The mugs are now available at Gaston’s Tavern for $13.00. The cups can be filled with your choice of fountain beverage and provide a nice souvenir for the Belle and Beast fans in your family. Sorry Le Fou’s Brew fans, the cups can not be filled with the delightful frozen drink (we tried) but they will sell them on the side . There is also a limit of 5 mugs per order.

And for those looking for an extra special sweet treat to go with their Enchanted Rose Souvenir Cup, Disney is also offering a special Enchanted Rose Cupcake, the perfect accompaniment to your drink. The cupcake features chocolate cake, yellow vanilla buttercream frosting and a beautiful edible read rose. The cost of the cupcake is $5.29 or a Snack Credit for those on the Disney Dining Plan.

Dole Whip Cotton Candy…. Whaaaa?? A Review

But of course I had to try the new cotton candy available at the Disneyland Resort. It’s Dole Whip cotton candy! Like I wasn’t? But writing a review on spun candy is a little challenging, but I’m always up for a challenge.

You can get the Dole Whip cotton candy at any of the carts around Disney’s California Adventure (Usually the larger carts that have frozen treats too). It’s a white and golden, large striped beauty, wrapped in plastic. I didn’t get mine until well after the sun went down – so it took a bit to find a place to take a decent picture!

The scent is divine. It really smells like a really sweet Dole Whip. I wouldn’t mind a candle with that scent in my bedroom! It’s obviously very sweet, but the creamy taste also comes out first. The pineapple flavor is slight and not at all over powering, kind of more of an aftertaste than an in-your-face tang.

Yet again, Disney has come out with a ‘must try’ treat. It’s not a ‘must do’ like a Mickey ice cream bar or turkey leg yet – I’m not 100% sure if it will get to that status at all. The end result and what I can tell you is, try it! Let me know what you think of it. Will this get on the top 5 lists of Disney treats, or is this a miss?

“Born In China” Documentary Review

Disneynature, in its continuing pursuit to bring beautiful and educational films to the big screen, gives us its most aspiring project to date. “Born in China” takes the audience on an epic journey into the wildernesses of China. This film follows three animal families — the giant panda, the golden snub-nosed monkey and the elusive snow leopard.

The filmmaking quality of this Disney movie is beyond stunning. Directed by Chuan Lu and a remarkable team of cinematographers the film navigates the vast, and sometime unforgivable terrain. From the wings of a red-crowned crane, to the tiniest detail of snowflakes landing on fur, the camera work is breathtaking.

As beautiful and educational as this film is, it is truthful is it’s telling. This isn’t an ‘everyone is fine in the jungle’ setting, and the hard parts aren’t edited out. I wouldn’t say to not take young children, just be aware that there might be a conversation after.

Narrated by John Krasinski, the writing leaned more toward playful then other Disneynature films of the past. Personally, I found it a little distracting and unnecessary. But I will admit to laughing from time to time.

As most Disneynature and Disney True Life Adventures, I highly recommend this film. The cinematography alone is well worth a trip to the theater. And if you see Born in China opening week, Disneynature will make a donation in your honor to World Wildlife Fund to benefit wild pandas and snow leopards. And that, right there, is a beautiful thing.

Special Party for the Planet event planned for Disney’s Animal Kingdom This Weekend

Animal Kingdom has announced they will be celebrating Earth Day this year with it’s first ever Party for the Planet Celebration! This three-day celebration will take place from April 21st to April 23rd, 2017.

Here are some tips if you are planning to Party for the Planet this weekend:

Pick up a Party for the Planet Times Guide when you enter the park to help you plan the day.
Choose how you will “see nature” and tell the story of your day at the park. In the Oasis, select one of 10 different animal cut-outs (while supplies last) to enhance your experience while raising awareness of the animals Disney Conservation Fund is helping protect through our Reverse the Decline, Increase the Time initiative. Be sure to share your photos on social media using #DisneyAnimals!

Along Maharajah Jungle Trek in Asia, take part in an activity focused on snow leopards, one of the amazing animals featured in Disneynature “Born in China.” You can also pick up a free activity packet (while supplies last) based on the film. We’re posting this activity below if you want to get a head start!
Disney PhotoPass photographers will create a special Magic Shot image based on “Born in China” and will have fun Earth Day props you can use to enhance your photos.

Treat yourself to a specialty Party for the Planet chocolate cupcake with chocolate mousse filling and buttercream icing at Creature Comforts and Isle of Java in Discovery Island or panda-themed cookies and candy apples at Zuri’s Sweets Shop in Africa.
