Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs at Walt Disney World is well-known for it’s delicious desserts. Now, guests can enjoy a whole meal while visiting this popular Disney Springs spot with the addition of three sandwiches to the menu. Diners will have their choice of a ham, turkey, or vegetable sandwich. Here are more details on each of the options:

Ham Sandwich: Focaccia bread, black forest ham, 3 mustard and honey sauce, black diamond cheddar, fresh watercress, with a cabernet vinaigrette

Turkey Sandwich:Focaccia bread, oven roasted turkey, basil, aioli, sautéed peppers, fresh mozzarella, shredded iceberg lettuce, and Cobb dressing

Roasted Vegetable Croissant: Multigrain croissant with garlic herb cream cheese, portobello mushroom, zucchini, onion, tomato, red quinoa, arugula and baby spinach.

Goofy’s Kitchen will be welcoming Mickey Mouse. From May 5th through September 5th, Mickey will be making a special appearance at Goofy’s Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel as part of Disney Dinnertime Magic. I loved all of my action figures as a kid, so much so that I broke the cardinal rule and took them all out of the packages, hee hee. Vibrant MagicBand 2 Patterened Wraps and Matching Mickey Icon Decals

After many months, I’m finally getting a MagicBand 2.0 for myself! I’m excited, but since it’s just a plain one I’ve been looking at fun ways to decorate. I was really drawn to these colorful MagicBand 2 Patterned Wraps and Matching Mickey Icon Decals from SweetGeorgiaDesigns on Etsy.

One of the things that I really loved about these, is that they came with a matching decal Mickey icon the stick on top. These wraps come in two pieces, and fully cover the band around the new puck style. There are 16 different patterns to choose from, and then you get to choose the Mickey icon color you think matches best for you. Did I mention the Mickey is glittery? Well, it is, and I love glitter so much! They also have a lot of other cute options. There’s printed wrap for the puck part only, that leaves the color of the band showing, I thought that was a unique twist too.

The Polite Pig Disney Springs Media Event Review

Disney Springs has quickly become the place to be for new Walt Disney World Resort dining options this year. The Polite Pig is the newest restaurant to open its doors to the public less than a month ago. Here is our Review of The Polite Pig Media Event that took place on May 5, 2017.

Grab a menu and prepare your taste buds for The Polite Pig experience. Mr. James Petrakis was on hand to answer questions. He told us that the inspiration for the name of this new restaurant came from a conversation with his family members. James made a comment that whatever we do, we must always be polite to one another. “So The Polite Pig seemed like a fitting name,” stated Mr. Petrakis.

We started with a couple of Salad choices. The Village Chopped Salad shines with the feta-olive dressing while the Simple Greens Salad offers the hearty crunch of apples, carrots and sunflower seeds. Both of these offerings are very good options particularly for vegetarians and those looking for a flavorful salad.

The BBQ Cracklins are quite interesting and we were surprised to discover that we really liked this option from the “Snacks” section of the menu. The Hop Salt Pretzel with Beer Cheese Fondue and IPA Mustard was interesting although the bitter taste of the Hops on the Pretzel was not something we cared for. Our favorite part of this snack option was the IPA Mustard, which we found to be quite flavorful.

The Sauce Bar choices range in flavor from Sweet, to BBQ Ranch, Hot Sauce and everything in between.

The Southern Pig Sandwich was good and we really liked this sandwich paired with the Sweet Potato Tots. The St. Louis Ribs with Layla Rub and Grilled Corn had a nice presentation. Pork Shoulder with Polite Rub, along with the BBQ Cauliflower was quite unusual. The Cauliflower was one of our favorite tastes. The Brisket Melt was interesting, however the Beer Cheese Fondue disrupted the flavor combination for us on this one. We enjoyed the Mac & Cheese Market Side. Half Chicken Citrus Rub with Crispy Brussel Sprouts was also an interesting combination. If you are thinking you do not like Brussel Sprouts, think again. Can you say Whiskey-Caramel? Our favorite dish was the Coffee Rub Brisket with Tomato and Watermelon Salad. The Brisket melts in your mouth and the combination of Feta, Basil, Pickled Onions, Tomato and Watermelon make this Salad fresh, flavorful, and truly amazing.

Dessert was next and the options are Key Lime Pie and Orange Blossom Honey Cake. Our favorite of the two is, hands-down, the Orange Blossom Honey Cake. The citrus and honey combination are really fabulous and make for a beautifully moist cake.

The Vodka Lemonade, served on tap, was excellent. We will be back again for this cocktail. The Bar is an indoor/outdoor set-up that really works for the setting. Having all of these drinks served on tap, is the first of its kind and quite innovative.

Overall, our experience was flavorful and interesting. We were surprised to discover that we actually liked the Cauliflower and Brussel Sprouts. The ingredient combinations with some of these food items are unusual; but they work. This is not the place to visit for your standard flavors, rather The Polite Pig, in Disney Springs Town Center, is a restaurant that will challenge your taste buds, and encourage you to step outside your comfort zone. If you cannot plan a meal here, you must find the time to stop by for a drink and check out the indoor/outdoor Bar. Remember to always be polite and say “Please” and “Thank You.”

Painting Your Own Alebrije

An Alebrije, made popular in the early 1930s, is a brightly colored piece of Mexican folk art sculpture. On this new port offering, guests are invited to create their own alebrije with the help of a skilled Mexican alebrije artist. Participants will take home their newly created mythical creature as a souvenir of their time spent immersed in Mexican tradition. Guests will also be able to explore the Museum of Popular Arts inside Discover Mexico Park and see their collection of exotic alebrije creations.

Mystic River and Turtle Snorkel

Discover the unique rock formations of the Mystical Underground River, which developed over thousands of years. Guests will be astounded at the true natural beauty of this unique Mexican destination. Then dive into an underwater adventure in the tropical waters of Tulum. During this exciting exploration guests will discover colorful reefs and swim with tropical fish and green sea turtles in their natural habitat.

Chocolate Making and Wine Tasting

There’s not a lot that ranks higher than chocolate and wine. This adult-exclusive port adventure takes guests to Stingray Beach to learn the ancient traditions of Aztec and Mayan chocolate making. Create chocolate from scratch using age-old techniques and taste a variety of chocolate creations typical to Mexican culture. To top off this experience, wine will be perfectly paired as guests enjoy the picturesque views of the Caribbean Sea.

Salsa and Salsa

Turn up the heat, both in the kitchen and on the dance floor, with this salsa making and salsa dancing experience. Dancing chef instructors will teach an energetic cooking class where guests will learn the art of making various salsas and traditional margaritas.While tasting your creations with cheesy quesadillas, enjoy all-you-can drink lime and strawberry margaritas. Once done with the meal, the dancing chefs will walk guests through a fun salsa dancing class before heading back to the ship.

All of these exciting port adventures are available on the island of Cozumel during the 7-night Western Caribbean sailings aboard the Disney Fantasy. Some of these sailings also include the popular Star Wars Day at Sea! The Disney Magic sailing from Miami will also offer a day at Cozumel during it’s 5-night Marvel Day at Sea sailings.

Westgate Resorts Host 1,000 Military Families For 2017 Military Weekend

Westgate Resorts will honor thousands of U.S. military, veterans, their family members and Gold Star families (families who have lost a loved one in the service of our country) from across the nation with a free Orlando vacation at Westgate Vacation Villas & Town Center Resort, May 5-7.

The Westgate Military Weekend continues a six-year tradition of Westgate Resorts and CEO David Siegel honoring U.S. military personnel and their families by giving away vacations on Veterans Day to allow our nation’s heroes to spend quality time with their families.

“We are proud to host a special weekend for the men and women who have served our country,” said Siegel, who is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. “We wanted to offer a weekend filled with activities designed to honor their service and allow them to have fun together as a family.”

Guests will receive complimentary resort accommodations May 5 and May 6, free admission to Westgate’s Ship Wreck Island water park and access to a military resource fair. The weekend will culminate with an exclusive concert featuring Grammy Award-winning country music artist Lee Greenwood (God Bless the USA, Ring On Her Finger) at the resort.

The military resource fair will offer attendees face-to-face access to more than a dozen services that support military families and veterans, including: Mission United, enabling military veterans and their families to successfully acclimate from active duty to civilian life; Camaraderie Foundation, providing healing for the invisible wounds of war such as PTSD; and The Mission Continues, empowering veterans who are adjusting to life at home to find purpose through community impact.

During the concert, the Westgate Resorts Foundation will announce a donation to three military nonprofit organizations.

“Westgate Resorts is absolutely committed to our military, including making veteran employment a top priority,” said Chief Operating Officer Mark Waltrip, a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force. “This special weekend is another way for us to champion our military and their families.”

Nearly 3,500 guests are expected to attend the weekend, with families representing more than 40 U.S. states.

Westgate Resorts has honored our nation’s heroes with more than 23,000 free room nights provided to military families over the past six years.

This vacation opportunity was specifically for current military personnel who have served in combat, veterans who served in The War on Terror, their families and Gold Star families. Eligible families registered online to receive the vacations.

With arrival of Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 in theaters and the new Guardians of the Galaxy Mission: BREAKOUT! opening in California Adventure later this month; lets get to know the heroes of this new movie and attraction!

Meet Star-Lord
A headstrong intergalactic adventurer, Star-Lord (aka Peter Quill) was taken from his Earthly home at a young age, growing up in outer space alongside the pirate-like Ravagers. As the intrepid Star-Lord, Quill travels the cosmos in his spaceship, the Milano, seeking his fortune. Equipped with a high-tech blaster and a mix-tape of music from home, Star-Lord leads an unlikely team of interstellar misfits–the Guardians of the Galaxy–in their attempts to do a little good, a little bad, or a little of both.

Meet Groot
A tree-like creature of few words, Groot formed a bond with the creature known as Rocket. Joining the Guardians of the Galaxy, Groot and his best friend Rocket travel through space getting into trouble wherever they go. Extremely powerful and resilient, Groot has the power of regeneration, allowing him to re-grow limbs and even his entire form very quickly.

Guests can come face-to-face with the Guardians of the Galaxy this summer, at Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! Deep inside his fortress-like collection, the mysterious Taneleer Tivan (aka The Collector) has the Guardians of the Galaxy on display as his newest acquisitions. Unbeknownst to their captor, Rocket has escaped and is enlisting the Collector’s VIP guests for help. Guests board a gantry lift, which launches them into a chaotic and hilarious adventure as they join Rocket in an attempt to break his fellow Guardians out of captivity.

After breaking out of the Collector’s Fortress, you may run into Star-Lord and Gamora on their way to escape aboard the Milano, with Star-Lord stopping to fire up his old-school boom box and get a dance party started. And for the first time, citizens of Earth will have the chance to meet Groot!

Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 opens in theaters everywhere today. Guardians of the Galaxy Mission: BREAKOUT! is scheduled to open on May 27, 2017 at California Adventure in Disneyland.

Cake Decorating Classes at Amorette’s Pastisserie in Disney Springs Extended

Great news cake fans! Amorette’s Patisserie in Disney Springs at Walt Disney World that they have extended their popular cake decorating classes through August 25,2017. In addition to the one class a week that is currently offered, they have added on two more classes, for a total of three classes a week! The dates and times of the classes starting May 15, 2017 are as follows:

Sunday mornings at 9:00 am
Wednesday mornings at 9:00 am
Friday mornings at 9:00 am

Each class lasts for 90 minutes and costs $129 for up to two participants for one cake. Space is very limited as there are only 12 spots offered per class. Reservations can be made by clicking here or by calling 407-WDW-DINE. This class is only available for guests age 10 and up.
