Disney’s Hollywood Studios Entrance Featuring Citizens of Hollywood

The Citizens of Hollywood can typically be spotted meandering along the streets of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. These groups of people are always in character and absolutely hilarious. We were surprised to see these Citizens of Hollywood at the entrance to Disney’s Hollywood Studios this past weekend.

KPUT Radio was Broadcasting “Live” as guests were chosen to play along in a game, or just to walk the Red Carpet. We found it a bit unusual to see them at the entrance to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. However, this location proved to be the perfect spot for encouraging guests to enter “Hollywood” on the Red Carpet. The antics of these Citizens of Hollywood will certainly have you laughing simply by what they are saying!

Star-Lord and Groot Character Meet & Greet Now Open in Hollywood Studios

The much-anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is in theaters and now you can meet two of the characters from the film. Star-Lord and Groot are now appearing in their own Character Meet at One Man’s Dream in Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

To get to the Character Meet, enter One Man’s Dream and head all the way through to the back. You will enter a doorway leading into the queue. A Cast Member will advise you to keep moving along past the Milky Way, and into another galaxy.

As you enter the Character Meet area, a Cast Member will instruct you where to stand until it is your turn. Star-Lord will then approach you and welcome you. As you walk over to the photo-op area, Groot will also greet you with his favorite “I am Groot!” phrase, in his most adorable voice. Seems like everywhere we turn right now, we see Groot. His popularity has grown quite extensively since the premiere of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Westgate Resort Hosted Armed Forces Families For Military Weekend 2017

Our Armed Forces Personnel sacrifice so much for us all to live in the “Land of the Free.” Westgate Resort hosted, along with sponsors such as Disney, Sea World, and Merlin Entertainment, to name a few about 1,000 military families this past weekend to enjoy time together as a family. The Military Weekend 2017 took place at Westgate Vacation Villas & Town Center Resort.

Many of the families were given complimentary tickets to some of the Central Florida Theme Parks, to include Walt Disney World and Sea World Orlando, for Saturday. The families were also given a two nights stay at the Westgate Resort in Kissimmee. The families were allowed complimentary access to Westgate’s beautiful Shipwreck Island Water Park located right on the grounds of the Resort.

Westgate Resort hosted a VIP Reception Saturday evening, from 5:30pm-7:00pm, overlooking the tranquil waters of the Resort.

Saturday evening concluded with a Color Guard Ceremony, the singing of The National Anthem, a speech given by COO Michael Waltrip and CEO David Siegel, and a Concert by country music artist Lee Greenwood followed by a Fireworks Spectacular.

The evening was emotionally charged with beautiful presentations, American Flags waving proudly, military families with so many different life stories to tell, and Patriotic Music. When Lee Greenwood sang “God Bless the USA” there was a not a dry eye on the Concert Green of Westgate Vacation Villas & Town Center Resort.

We wish to send our deepest appreciation to Katie Neumann of TJM Communications for allowing us the opportunity to be a part of honoring our military families during Westgate’s Military Weekend 2017.

Adorable Red River Hogs Born at Animal Kingdom Lodge in Walt Disney World

Animal Kingdom Lodge in Walt Disney World has some new residents! Two male Red River Hogs were recently born to mother, Chole. Chole is one of the hogs who roams the savannas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.

According to Disney, “red river hogs are born with striped patterning that helps them blend into the vegetation, which keeps them safe from predators. As they mature, their fur changes to a bright russet color.”

Chole and her newborn piglets will remain backstage for a while but you can catch a glimpse of them now with these photos:

For the next two days (through May 9th), Tarzan will continue to greet guests at his current location by Pizzafari, and near the entrance to the much anticipated Pandora – The World of Avatar. Come May 10th Tarzan will be moving back to his previous Meet and Greet location behind the Tree of Life.

Ready for something new to collect on your next Disney World or Disneyland vacation? How about a scavenger hunt to find all of the available Snapchat GeoFilters hidden throughout the parks?

Geofilters is a Snapchat app feature that allows users to share where they are or what they’re up to by adding a fun overlay to their image. There are thousands of places around the world that Geofilters appear. These overlays are location specific, sometimes requiring you to be standing in a specific spot, which can make them a little difficult to find. Disney offers their own fun overlays at different locations in their parks for guests to add while visiting.

Guardians of the Galaxy Baby Dancing Groot Toy with Music

I think it’s safe to say, Baby Groot is one of the best characters ever, especially when he busts a move. Seedling Baby Groot dancing at the end of Volume One of Guardians of the Galaxy was awesome, but Volume Two Baby Groot is completly Epic! So naturally that perfection has been captured in this Dancing Groot Toy with music from the new movie.

Bring the ultra-groovy style of Guardians of the Galaxy to life with this music-playing, sound-detecting, limb-shaking Dancing Groot! The 11.5-inch Dancing Groot figure is nearly the same size as Baby Groot from the new Guardians of Galaxy: Volume 2 movie! That gives bonus epic points if you ask me. It also features a clip from the song ‘Come A Little Bit Closer’ from the movie soundtrack, so that when the far-out beat starts to play, Groot can’t help but to get those roots in motion! Groot can also detect external music, so when the figure recognizes tunes from a phone, tablet, radio or other device, Baby Dancing Groot starts to boogie!

“American Idol” May Find New Life On ABC

There’s a rumor going around Hollywood that Disney’s ABC TV network is in late-stage negotiations to become the new home to The “American Idol” TV series.

The show originally aired on Fox, but the production company Freemantle Media North America and CORE Media Group are considering a revival of the series and ABC is the expected home for the show. Both Fox and NBC were also being considered. “American Idol”s run on Fox ended in 2016, crowning its last winner, Trent Harmon in April.

If the show does return it will likely look very different from a talent perspective. Idol Judges Simon Cowell and Jennifer Lopez are under contract with NBC while Idol host Ryan Seacrest just took a regular hosting job on Live with Kelly & Ryan, which is based in New York.

New Figment Survey Questions For EPCOT Guests Might Mean the End For His Attraction

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts have recently included some interesting questions about Figment in their surveys to EPCOT guests. It looks like Disney is gauging the recognition and popularity of the official mascot of the “Imagination!” pavilion at EPCOT.

The Journey into Imagination pavilion has been with EPCOT since it opened in October of 1982. The attraction soon followed in March of 1983. This ride was often considered by fans to be one the greatest theme park rides ever built. The ride then had a major renovation in 1998 with the result being noticeably less appearances by Figment. Guests now only saw him in movies played in the pre-attraction queue. There was such a backlash to this that Disney had Journey into Imagination go through another renovation in 2002 to bring Figment back into the story line.

In November of last year Bob Chapek, the Chairman of Disney Parks and Resorts, announced at the Destination D fan event that EPCOT would be receiving “a major transformation” that would help transition the park into being “more Disney, timeless, relevant, family-friendly” while keeping the original vision alive.

These new survey questions make it seem like Disney might be removing this attraction to make way for something new. Hopefully new information will be released at the D23 Expo in July that will shed new light onto the fate of the little purple dragon.
