Mission: SPACE Heads Out On A New Adventure Starting In August

Mission: SPACE has been providing Epcot visitors with a chance to feel what its really like to travel through Space since it first opened in 2003. The ride has been closed for a lengthy refurbishment and during this year’s D23 Expo we found out why.

In just a few short weeks, guests will have an opportunity to enjoy a brand adventure on Mission: SPACE – Orange as well as on Mission SPACE – Green. The Orange mission will be updated to provide even more stunning visuals of Mars while the Green version will allow guests to blast off on adventures around Earth’s orbit. Orange is designed to provide a more intense mission with the use of centrifugal force while Green offers a more laid back ride.

"Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM!" Nighttime Spectacular Is Returning For 2017

Last year a brand new holiday nighttime spectacular was introduced at Hollywood Studios. We are now seeing that this popular show will be returning for the 2017 holiday season. The show is displayed above and around the Chinese Theater with state-of-the-art projections, special effects, fireworks and a rousing seasonal musical score.

Disney’s Description of Last Year’s Show:

Led by elves Wayne and Lanny, the duo from ABC/Walt Disney Animation Studios’ animated special “Prep & Landing,” the spirited yuletide adventure to the North Pole features memorable holiday moments from Disney films including “Mickey’s Christmas Carol,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Pluto’s Christmas Tree,” “Bambi,” Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” and more, all building to a festive finale that’s “So tinsel!”

Disneyland to Offer Resort Guests “Extra” Extra Magic Hours Starting July 23rd.

Due to the popularity of Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! at Disney California Adventure Park, Disney has decided to offer a special perk to on-site guests providing them with even more opportunities to enjoy “The Ride of the Summer.”

For a limited time, Disneyland Resort hotel guests can take advantage of “Extra” Extra Magic Hour to enjoy Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission BREAKOUT! one hour after Disney California Adventure park closes to the public.

Guests staying at Paradise Pier, Disneyland Hotel or the Grand Californian can take advantage of this extra hour on the following dates and times:

July 23 through August 30 (Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays)*, available one hour after park closes; separate theme park admission and valid hotel key card required

In addition, all onsite guests still get to take advantage of the early morning Extra Magic Hour admission option allowing you to enter one designated theme park and hour early on select mornings.

Visitors to Disneyland should note that separate theme park admission and a valid hotel key card is required to participate.

So what are you waiting for? Head on over to Disneyland Resort and Disney California Adventure Park for this rip-roarin’ good time with Star-Lord, Groot and your other Guardians of the Galaxy friends.

Goofy’s Candy Company is where it’s at when it comes to finding some our favorite Seasonal Treats this time of year. Here you will find your favorite Mickey Ear Krispy Treats decked out in Santa Hats, Chocolate, and Holiday Sprinkles. Also on offer is Holiday Peppermint Bark. Looking for something more….well…Frozen? You may want to sample some of Goofy’s Glacier Slushy’s. Disney Cast Members are outside of Goofy’s Candy Company, and moving along the back side of Disney’s Days of Christmas Store where folks are waiting in line to meet Santa Claus, offering samples of these frozen sweet treats. We tried the Blue Raspberry, Pink Lemonade, and Root Beer.

If you love the flavor of Gingerbread during the Holiday Season then be sure to pick up your Gingerbread Crepe from Aristocrepes. Unfortunately, they were out of batter when we stopped by and were not able to make one for us. Maybe a warm treat is not the best idea during the sweltering summer month of July in Central Florida. If you are looking to stick with the cold and frozen north style sweets, then stop by Starbucks for a Ginger Snap Frappuccino. Now that is one sweet Disney Springs Christmas in July Seasonal Treat!

Just up the road in Liberty Square, Sleepy Holly will also be serving up new Hand-Dipped Corn Dogs. Its an all-beef hot dog dipped in house-made batter and friend until golden brown. Or for those who like to keep it simple, Sleepy Hollow also offers a quarter-pound all-beef hot dog with the classic fixins that is sure to put a smile on your face.

Be Dazzled By the Technology of the China Pavilion's Newest Film

One of the updates shared this week during the jam-packed D23 Expo was that a new film is being created for the China pavilion at Epcot. The focus will be on the majesty of this amazing country. Not only will visitors to Epcot’s World Showcase be “wowed” by the breathtaking sights and sounds of China but the film will also utilize the latest technology to dazzle audiences even further.

Following in the footsteps of epic attractions like Epcot’s Soarin, the team assembled to film this production will be using an immersive camera system to great a seamless Circle-Vision experience for the China Pavilion.

There’s no news yet on definite timelines for this production but keep following along with Chip and Co and we promise to keep you posted.

Take part in Raglan Road’s 6th annual Great Irish Hooley music festival and enjoy live music performances from three talanted artists. The festival will take place September 1st – 4th , 2017 and is sure to be the highlight of your visit to Disney Springs.

Celebrating Irish song, dance, food and drink over the long Labor Day weekend, the Great Irish Hooley kicks off performances beginning at 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 1, and continues each day and night through late Monday and into the wee hours.

With contemporary Irish cuisine, Irish craft beers, hand-crafted cocktails and day-into-night entertainment, the Great Irish Hooley promises a high-voltage music festival for all who drop by or reserve a table. This year’s Hooley entertainment headliners include:

Elevation — Back by popular demand and appearing at Raglan Road for the first time in four years, this stellar U2 tribute act will play two special nighttime shows on Sept. 2 and 3 paying homage to the U2 world tour celebrating 30 years of the ground-breaking Joshua Tree album.
Lisa Canny Band – The outrageously talented Lisa Canny and her band combine traditional Irish, R&B and Hip Hop. She will appear at Raglan Road for three weeks beginning August 30 and will perform nightly during the Hooley.
Gary O’Meara Band – O’Meara is a traditional Irish banjo player with a prolific career as a solo artist and as a member of multiple legendary Irish music acts.

The Raglan Road Irish Dancers will perform throughout the Great Irish Hooley and face painters will be on hand to decorate Hooley guests.

The New Minnie Van Service Will Work With The Lyft App

A few days ago we brought you one of the first guest sightings of the recently announced Minnie Vans at the Boardwalk Inn. Everyone was so excited to see it and had so many questions that I thought a second article was in order giving you all the information we have learned so far about the program.

Overview

The Minnie Van Service is a new personal point-to-point ride service designed to take guests around the Walt Disney World Resort property. The internal bus system that Disney provides only takes guests from the resorts to the parks or to Disney Springs and then back again. There is currently not a direct way (provided by Disney) for guests to travel from one resort to another. Until now…

The New Minnie Van Service Will Work With The Lyft App

The Minnie Van service is currently in soft opening this week. After that, the Minnie Vans will be available through Lyft, a ride sharing service utilized through an app on your phone (available for both iOS and Android phones). When guests open the Lyft app from anywhere in the Walt Disney World Resort the Minnie Van Service is unlocked. A cast member at the Bell Services desk of the resort can help guests get started with the app if they are unfamiliar. The Lyft app will allow guests to request a ride from their smartphone and pay directly through the app.

***We have heard through the grapevine that while the Minnie Van Service is in soft opening, rides are being offered complimentary for the week. But we haven’t officially confirmed this yet.

Other Details We Have Learned

The drivers are Walt Disney World Cast Members
Guests of Disney’s BoardWalk and Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club Resorts are the first to try out this pilot program.
The Minnie Van is actually not a van at all but a Chevrolet Traverse mid-sized SUV which can seat up to 7 or 8 passengers (including the driver) across 3 rows.
The service costs a $20 flat fee per one-way trip. As with most things, this amount is subject to change.
Currently the hours of operation are 6:30 am until 12:30 am
Two car seats are in each vehicle for use

Fuel Rod Cell Phone Chargers Available at Disneyland

Fuel Rod kiosks have spread to Disneyland Resort! I can’t tell you how many times I have been in the parks enjoying making memories with my family, only discover my cell phone battery’s life has reached its end. It seems like it always happens at the most inconvenient times. Portable chargers are a great way to solve this problem and they are now readily available across Disneyland Resort.

Disneyland Fuel Rod

The portable chargers can be purchased for a one-time flat fee of $30. The $30 gets you a fully charged Fuel Rod and adapters for Apple and Android devices. The chargers have the ability to be recharged in a standard wall outlet or you can swap them out for a new fully charged Fuel Rod at no additional cost.

I absolutely love how the kiosks are themed to their location throughout the resort. The kiosks pictured above are located in Ramone’s in Cars Land and Treasures in Paradise gift shop in Paradise Pier. Can you guess which is which?

Some locations may only be staffed intermittently by PhotoPass photographers.

Remember, Magic Shots are included with Memory Maker. Memory Maker is $169 if purchased more than three days prior to your vacation or $199 for immediate activation of Memory Maker or after your trip.
