A New Enhanced Dinner Menu Coming to Be Our Guest Beginning July 27th

There’s been much speculation as to the future of Be Our Guest Restaurant at the Magic Kingdom with many upcoming Disney visitors reporting that Advanced Dining Reservations were showing up as unavailable in the system.  This has led many to wonder what is in store for this beloved New Fantasyland eatery and it looks like today we are a bit closer to an answer.

Disney just revealed plans for an enhanced prix fixe dinner menu at Be Our Guest that will offer an exciting new range of French-inspired dishes.  The new three-course dinner will include a choice of appetizer and entree followed by a personal dessert platter.

Appetizers on offer will include old favorites like the French Onion Soup with some new additions like Charred Octopus with citrus-laced fingerling potatoes, pickled hearts of palm with red pepper coulis, Escargot with herb garlic butter and toasted gremolata as well as a selection of meats and artisanal cheeses such as chicken liver pate, chorizo sausage Manchego and truffle tremor.

The main course will include an eclectic array of mouth-watering entrees such as Grilled Center-Cut Filet Mignon with potato au gratin, Romano beans, Cipollini marmalade and a cherry-laced red wine reduction or the Smoked Black-Eye Pea Tortellini with roasted seasonal vegetables, tomato relish and basil-scented tomato water.

Additional options include Poulet Rouge Chicken, Saffron-Infused Seafood Bouillabaisse, Roasted Lamb Chops and Kurobuta Pork Tenderloins.

Disney’s chefs are currently hard at work putting the final touches on the desserts as well as a kids menu for this exquisite new dining experience.

One Dining Credit or Two? Disney has confirmed that Dinner will go up to Two Table Service Dining Credits for those on the Disney Disney Plan and that the prices will increase to $55 per adult and $35 per child for dinner.

Will Beast Still Be at Dinner? This is a question that we don’t know the answer to just yet  Again, there are rumors that other characters may be added to the mix for this new dining experience but Disney hasn’t released anything official.

So what does it mean for those looking to make reservations? Be Our Guest will offer the new dinner feast starting on July 27th with reservations opening up this Friday, February 23rd online or by calling 407.WDW.DINE.

Cast of Disney's The Lion King Surprise Massachusetts Performing Arts Students During Disney World Visit

A dance studio group from New Bedford Massachusetts received a very special surprise at Walt Disney World this week when members of the touring cast of Disney’s “The Lion King” popped by to pay a visit to their Disney Performing Arts Workshop.

The students from The Illusions Academy of Dance Performance Company were taking part in a workshop at Saratoga Springs Resort when they were visited by Nia Halloway, Gerald Ramsey and Ben Lipitz who are currently playing Nala, Mufasa and Pumbaa on the tour.  The stars spent time with the group answering questings and sharing tips with the young performers.  To add to the excitement, Mickey Mouse also made a special appearance.

 

The students were at Walt Disney World to participate in “Disney Broadway Magic” and workshop that gives young performers the chance to re-create a scene from a Disney Broadway musicals and learn about all the pieces that need to fit together to put on a production.  Areas covered include music, staging, costuming and props.  This is just one of the many workshops created by the entertainment experts at Disney Performing Arts. Each workshop is designed to help students improve their skills and develop new ones.  Other areas covered include instrumental, choral, theater and dance.  More information can be found at DisneyYouth.com.

Joan Lunden loves Disney

Joan Lunden loves Disney Parks. The legendary journalist and TV personality visited Disneyland in its opening year.  That’s when her love affair began.

Since that first visit, she has taken regular trips to Disney Parks.  As a child she told her parents she dreamed of one day working alongside Mickey Mouse.  In 1982 she fulfilled that dream when she covered the opening of Epcot while hosting Good Morning America. She also served as host of the Disney Parks Christmas and Easter parade broadcasts for nearly two decades.

Lunden recently visited Disney World with her husband and two sets of twins, reliving memories and embracing that familiar feeling of nostalgia the parks can bring.

NEW Sports Experience: FootGolf at Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course!

I recently had the opportunity to go try out the brand new FootGolf course on Disney’s Oak Trail golf course with my friend Jordan. This is easily my new favorite sport! A hybrid of golf and soccer, FootGolf is a sporting experience that is fun for the whole family.

NEW Sports Experience: FootGolf at Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course!

Played on the classic 9-hole Oak Trail gold course, 18 holes of FootGolf can be enjoyed on its own, or alongside a game of traditional golf. Do Mom and Dad want to play traditional golf and the kids want to play FootGolf? No problem! These two types of golf can be played side by side for the ultimate in family excursions.

Using the classic golf rules, FootGolf is a super fun fresh take on the popular sport of golf. There was a minimal learning curve as we figured out how to best kick and aim the ball, which was a nice way to break into this incredible sport. I found it much easier to figure out than traditional golf, which makes it a great sport for even those who have never played! Since FootGolf is played on a traditional golf course, the bunkers and water hazards apply as well, giving this sport a delightful challenge.

The wildlife on the course adds to the beautiful outdoor appeal of the sport. We saw a group of turkeys enjoying the course as much as we were, and guests have been known to spot other birds, squirrels, and even deer to name just a few!

FootGolf can also be played as a group event, which I can see being a fun way to promote team bonding while fostering an exciting competitive edge with a lot of laughs.

Disney’s Oak Trail golf course also offers beautiful locker-room facilities for those wanting to freshen up after playing. Providing a quiet environment to grab a quick shower is amazing for those who want to get in their golf or FootGolf rounds before heading off to even more adventures!

All this golf and FootGolf making you hungry and thirsty? Pop into On the Green for a quick meal and beverage before or after your game! They even have free Wi-Fi for the guests at On the Green and in the pro shop.

Orlando International Airport Has Announced Direct Flights to Wakanda!

As a reference to the new hit movie, Black Panther, Orlando International Airport joked that they are introducing a new airline, Wakanda Air. This new airline would offer flights that would take you to Wakanda from the home of Walt Disney World, non-stop of course.

Since Disney now owns Marvel, MCO decided to join in on the fun with the release of Black Panther. In a comment on their Tweet revealing the new “fake” flights, MCO said in response to a question asking when flights would begin, “Immediately, and able to be booked from now until forever.”

In a world filled with such darkness this last week, it is nice to see others lightening things up a bit. Thank you, MCO!

New Solar Farm To Be Built At Walt Disney World

Most people have heard about the giant Mickey Mouse shaped solar farm located at Walt Disney World and it now looks as if plans are underway to create another massive solar facility on Disney property.  According to a recent agreement and easement between Reedy Creek Improvement District and Orgis energy, the new farm will be built along State Road 429 and will be much larger than it’s Mouse-shaped counterpart.

 

The new facility will provide solar power to the Reedy Creek Improvement District and by extension Walt Disney World.  The farm will be located on 270 acres in Orange County and will consist of roughly 518, 000 solar panels that will connect to Reedy Creek’s power distribution system.  It is estimated that the new facility will create up to 300 jobs with the project getting underway in late Spring and finishing up by the end of 2018.

FootGolf is Coming to Walt Disney World!

We are happy to announce that the hottest trend sweeping the nation, FootGolf, is coming to Walt Disney World! Guests are now invited to play a round of FootGolf at Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course.

FootGolf is a precision sport; a combination of the popular sports of soccer and golf, but more closely related to golf. Players kick a regulation #5 soccer ball at a golf course facility on shortened length holes with 21-inch diameter cups in as few shots as possible. Rules are very similar to the rules of golf, and bunkers, hazards and golf course characteristics help to improve the challenge of the game. FootGolf and golf can be played alongside each other on the same course and both types of play can exist harmoniously together. Since the game is played on a golf course, the basic uniform of FootGolf is golf apparel, with indoor or turf soccer shoes, or running shoes. Knee length Argyle socks are customary, but not necessary, as is the use of a Flat Cap.

FootGolf and golf are played alongside each other at Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course. Tee times can be booked to play 18 holes of FootGolf either in front of or behind those playing 9 holes of traditional golf. When played in groups of four, 18 holes of FootGolf should take approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes, much like that of 9 holes of traditional golf.

Disney’s Oak Trail FootGolf course measures in at 2,438 yards over a par for the course of 69 with a challenging selection of par 3’s, 4’s and 5’s. Traditional golf is played to the blue pin flags at Disney’s Oak Trail course while FootGolf is identified by its official color of orange. There are no forced carries over any waterways on any of the 18 holes, therefore, young or old, it is fun for the whole family!

2018 has quite the line-up of new attractions coming to Hong Kong Disneyland, including the all-new Water Play Street Party. Making it’s debut in June, this special summer event will be themed after some classic Disney-Pixar films.

Summer? Pixar? Disney? Fun? This event is sure to make a “splash”!

Also coming to Hong Kong Disneyland in 2018 is the “We love Mickey!” projection show, African-themed “Karibuni Marketplace”, and  “Moana: A Homecoming Celebration” stage show.
