Mickey’s Fun Wheel To Be Renamed Pixar Pal-A-Round and Will Feature New Pixar-themed Gondolas

Today Disney revealed some exciting details about the changes taking place to Mickey’s Fun Wheel as part of the new Pixar Pier renovations including a name change! It’s official, this California Adventure icon will officially be renamed the Pixar Pal-A-Round. The re-imagined attraction will still feature the iconic face of Mickey Mouse. However, each of the 24 gondolas that take riders on an amazing journey around this 160 ft tall Ferris Wheel will feature different pairs of Pixar pals.

Here’s one featuring Miguel and Hector from “Coco.”

Joy and Sadness from “Inside Out” and as well as Wall-E and Eve.

The Incredibles, who will also feature heavily in the re-imagined Incredicoaster, will have a presence. Here you can see a gondola featuring Mr Incredible and Elastigirl as well as one showcasing our friends from Radiator Springs, Mater and Lightning McQueen.

“Call Me, Beep Me, If Ya Wanna Reach Me!” The live-action Disney Channel Original Movie “Kim Possible” has its stars!

Starring in the Disney Channel Original Movie based on the global hit animated series about an everyday high school girl who, in her spare time, saves the world from villains will be Sadie Stanley as Kim Possible and Sean Giambrone as Ron Stoppable! Going into production this summer, this comedy-adventure is set to debut in 2019.

Judy Taylor, senior vice president, Casting and Talent Relations, Disney Channel, said, “Sadie delivers Kim’s confidence, smarts, and agility; most importantly, she’s an everyday girl with an extraordinary spirit.” She added, “Sean is such a magnetic actor; he always finds the right balance of physical comedy and heart. We’re excited for audiences to see Sadie and Sean bring these iconic roles to life.”

Sadie Stanely is a 16-year-old native of Columbia, South Carolina. She landed the role of Kim Possible in her first ever audition and has since guest-starred on “Game Shakers.” Star of the ABC hit comedy “The Goldbergs,” Sean Giambrone, age 18, will film “Kim Possible” before returning to production of that series, now going into its sixth season, this summer.

The live-action movie script was written by the creators of the animated series “Kim Possible,” Emmy® Award-winning Mark McCorkle and Bob Schooley (“Big Hero 6 The Series,” “The Penguins of Madagascar”), and Josh Cagan (“The DUFF,” “Bandslam”). Executive producers are McCorkle, Schooley and Zanne Devine, (“I, Tonya” and “Easy A”). The movie will be co-directed and co-produced by Adam B. Stein and Zach Lipovsky (both of Disney XD’s “MECH-X4). Serving as casting director is Blyth Nailling (ABC’s “Last Man Standing” and “Scrubs”).

Launched in 2002, this animated comedy/adventure series was centered on a strong female teenager who uses her brain, heart and expertise to save the day. During the 87 episode run we saw Kim Possible as she moved through the social hierarchy of high school and, with her loyal sidekick Ron Stoppable and his naked mole-rat Rufus by her side, thwart power-hungry villains Drakken and Shego, among others. Two popular animated original movies also came from the franchise – “Kim Possible Movie: So the Drama” in 2005, which was the first animated title in the Disney Channel Original Movie franchise, and “Kim Possible: A Stitch in Time” in 2003.

The connection viewers had to the show, and the characters, lead to an off-TV presence which included Kim Possible and Ron Stoppable characters at Disney Parks & Resorts and a line of “Kim Possible” branded consumer products at mass retail, soundtracks, books and games.

We can’t wait to see “What’s the Sitch?!” when this live-action movie hits the Disney Channel in 2019!

Disney has been all about color trend Minnie Ears lately, such as the Rose Gold, and the Millennial Pink ones we’ve fallen in love with on Instagram. Another popular beauty that has popped up recently are the Sakura Sequined Minnie Mouse Ears!

You won’t find these cherry blossom inspired darlings at Disneyland in California, or Walt Disney World in Florida though. These are Tokyo Disneyland exclusives! My sakura loving heart really wants them. These ears have are covered in deep pink sequins in a color light the inner petals of the flower, with a shimmery bow in a pink that is slightly lighter, like the outer edges of the blossom’s petals.

Even though the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is over a year away, there is already so much excitement surrounding the new Land coming to Hollywood Studios! Chip recently swung by the Park yesterday to check the progress and was greeted by some new additions – some mature trees were installed in the Land.

The trees were installed to create an instant forest in the new Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. They also provide some privacy as construction continues to keep elements of the new Land a secret especially as the nearby Toy Story Land is scheduled to open in just over two months.

While Disney has not announced an exact opening day for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World, we do know it is expected to open sometime in 2019. I anticipate it to be open towards the end of 2019 but of course, nothing is official until Disney confirms it.

Animal Kingdom adds Extra Magic Hours to Most Days Through June

Do you have plans to visit Walt Disney World and Animal Kingdom in the next few months? Then, I have great news to pass along! Beginning Saturday, April 28, Animal Kingdom has added Extra Magic Hours for most days throughout June. The Extra Magic Hours offered are generally from 8 am to 9 am with a few days being as early as 7 am to 8 am.

To take advantage of Extra Magic Hours, you must be staying at an official Walt Disney World Resort. Recently, Disney has extended this perk to other select Walt Disney World Area Hotels as well.

‘Triangle Fire’ Four Miles South of Walt Disney World Causing Smoky Driving Conditions

We are getting reports of a large brush fire about four miles south of Walt Disney World this morning. The fire is currently 90% contained but it is making driving conditions very smoky on I-4 close to exit 62. To give some perspective, Walt Disney World is located on exits 64 through 67 on I-4. The fire originated near Interstate 4 and State Road 417 just north of the Champions Gate Community but quickly spread.

The “Triangle Fire”, as authorities have named it, is close to 80 acres and started last night. Firefighters working through the night were able to get it 80% contained but the smoke is still causing low visibility for drivers this morning. The Florida Highway Patrol is urging drivers to be careful on I-4, S.R. 417, and U.S. 192.

Construction of New Ratatouille Ride at Epcot

As we previously reported, Disney announced last summer that guests could expect a new Ratatouille ride to arrive at Epcot. While no official opening day has been announced, Disney stated that the Ratatouille ride should be open to guests in time for Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th Anniversary.

The new Ratatouille ride is being constructed at the France Pavillion in Epcot’s World Showcase.

On his most recent trip, our very own Chip was able to snap some photos of the construction. As you can see in the photos, we are able to see a crane and some structural work from around World Showcase.

As Disney World continues to prepare for its 50th anniversary, we will most likely continue to see updates and new additions popping up throughout the property.

We just can’t get enough of the Pixar themed treats coming out of Pixar Fest at the Disneyland Resort!

Dug Cake Pop is one of our favorites. You can find it at the Candy Palace on Main Street, U.S.A., in Disneyland park. Available starting June 23.

I have just met this chocolate cake pop, and I love this chocolate cake pop! It’s dipped in white chocolate, covered in gold sugar, and decorated with marshmallow ears, dark and white chocolate, and small round candy-coated chocolates.

Disney Conservation Fund Grant

Continuing the Earth Day celebration, the Disney Conservation Fund has just announced its 2018 Conservation Grants totaling more than $8 million to support the work of 80 nonprofit organizations as part of Disney’s “Reverse the Decline” initiative.

This year’s grantees are working in 34 countries to lead incredible conservation programs, including:

California Condor Nest Guarding Program – Santa Barbara Zoological Foundation: In 1986 only nine condors remained in the wild. Santa Barbara Zoo and partners are working to increase California condor populations through captive breeding, careful management, education programs with local communities and research to encourage self-sustaining populations through the California Condor Nest Guarding Program.
Rewilding Australia with Tasmanian Devils – Global Wildlife Conservation: Non-native species threaten the survival of many native Australian wildlife species and as a result, impact ecosystems and human livelihoods. Global Wildlife Conservation is working to reverse the decline of the Tasmanian devil on the Australian mainland and re-establish it as an apex predator, while raising public awareness about challenges faced by Australia’s wildlife.
Seagrass Surveys for Education and Conservation – Marine Resources Development Foundation: Seagrass beds are diminishing worldwide, but serve a critical role in coastal ecosystems by stabilizing sediments and providing food and habitat for marine wildlife. The Marine Resources Development Foundation is leading seagrass surveys in the Florida Keys to monitor and understand ecosystem health, and engaging students and teachers from around the country in hands-on field work, data analysis and classroom curriculum to raise awareness about seagrass habitat conservation.

The “Reverse the Decline” program is committed to saving wildlife, inspiring action and protecting the planet and pairs philanthropic grants with contributions of expertise from Disney animal care experts who work together to make an impact for wildlife and wild places. To date, DCF has awarded more than $70 million to support conservation efforts to support nonprofit organizations working to save wildlife, inspire action, and protect the planet in 115 countries.
