Disney Springs Christmas Tree Trail Now Has Extended Hours

The last of the turkey leftovers have been eaten and there is no more pumpkin pie.  That means we are officially in the holiday season. And it’s bigger and better than ever at Disney Springs this year – from a new gingerbread window display to amazing holiday shopping. It also means the Disney Springs Christmas Tree Trail is back for it’s second year!

The display now has 25 Disney-inspired trees, including 10 new trees featuring iconic Disney characters like Peter Pan, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty and Pinocchio.  And make sure you check out the tree featuring an assortment of ornaments you’ll find for sale at the nearby Disney’s Days of Christmas store.

The Disney Springs Tree highlights many of the retail brands available on property and the always classic Mickey and Minnie tree is sure to delight guests this season.

Disney Springs Christmas Tree Trail Now Has Extended Hours

This, now-staple, holiday display was so popular in it’s first year that the hours have been extended for the second year!  The Christmas Tree Trail is here for the holiday season and will run through January 7, 2018.  Hour of operation are: Monday – Thursday from 12 pm to 10 pm; Friday – Saturday from 10 am to 11 pm; Sunday from 10 am to 10 pm.  Special hours on Christmas Eve, 12/24 are from 10 am to 11 pm and Christmas Day, 12/25 from 10 am to 11 pm.

Construction Update On The Edison At Disney Springs

The Edison

Walking through Disney Springs yesterday we made sure to stop by The Edison to check on the progress of its construction. It looks like we might be close to it being finished. We noticed that new “The Edison” signage has been put in place.

Construction Update On The Edison At Disney Springs

As you may remember we reported that an opening date of January 1, 2018 was accidentally slipped into a Time Change twitter advertisement for the venue. Within minutes of us reporting that date the tweet was deleted.

Take a look at some of our photos to see the progress for yourself:

The Edison will be part of a larger interconnected complex of four dining locations owned by The Patina Restaurant Group. We already know that The Edison is themed as a former electrical power plant and “Maria & Enzo’s” is expected to feature a speakeasy bar element called Enzo’s Hideaway Tunnel Bar, which will be part of the underground rum running tunnel. We also know that a counter service location call “Pizza Ponte” will be part of the complex. What we don’t know yet is what the Patina Group is billing as the “former airline terminal”.

Watch a Disney Movie With… Aladdin’s Jonathan Freeman voice of Jafar

Watch a Disney Movie With... Aladdin's Jonathan Freeman voice of Jafar

In celebration of Aladdin’s 25th anniversary over the weekend, Oh My Disney today released a special episode of “Watch A Disney Movie With.. Jafar,” in which Jonathan Freeman, the voice actor who played Jafar, reveals that Robin Williams’ “Genie” was supposed to be green, that Gilbert Godfried’s parrot “Iago” had a much smaller part in the original iteration of the iconic duo, and other secrets from the sound booth.

The digital series invites fans to rewatch iconic Disney movies with the beloved film stars.

Join the quick-witted Broadway star backstage in New York City, as he unwinds common misconceptions, drastic changes and character edits from the film that changed the landscape of motion picture animation forever, including:

  • Animation Changes — Sometimes occurring on-the-spot, Freeman discusses what it was like working with legendary directors Ron Clements and John Musker, including a change of Genie’s skin from green to blue.

  • Finding Jafar’s Voice — Jafar’s sinister laugh was inspired by the voice actor’s first-look drawings of the villain’s “cruel beauty.”

  • Voice Tricks — How animators encouraged Freeman to “physicalize” his character in the sound booth using a cane and rag.

  • A Broadway Success — The moment in Aladdin on Broadway that took Freeman’s breath away on opening night.

Chef Mickey’s Temporarily Relocated To Convention Center During Refurbishment

Chef Mickey's Convention Center

Starting today, Chef Mickey’s has been closed for a scheduled refurbishment until December 12th (Cast members did state that it could extend to the 13th). During this time, it will be relocating to the 1st floor of the Convention Center at Disney’s Contemporary Resort. The dining and character experience will remain the same.

The reason given for this refurbishment is that repairs needed to be made in the kitchen and Disney was unable to prepare meals for guests.

We decided to visit and give you an idea of what you can expect if your reservation for Chef Mickey’s is scheduled during the refurbishment.

Disney’s Boardwalk Inn & Villas Resort 2017 Gingerbread Display

Disney's Boardwalk Inn & Villas Resort 2017 Gingerbread Display

One thing we love about the Walt Disney World Resort around the Holidays is seeing the amazing Gingerbread Displays.  We were excited to see The Boardwalk Inn & Villas Resort has their 2017 display up.  This year they are featuring some of the businesses along The Boardwalk.

You are sure to recognize some of your favorite Boardwalk eateries.

The Flying Fish is wonderfully represented with its rounded entrance and blue flying fish.  You will also spot Trattoria al Forno, which became even more popular than ever this year when the all-new Bon Voyage Breakfast was introduced.  If you have a sports fan in your family, you have likely spent some time in the ESPN Club catching a game while enjoying some adult beverages and pub-style food.  The Boardwalk Bakery is the place to visit for a sandwich and a specialty cupcake.

Look closely to see what Mickey Mouse is cooking up!
