Disney’s Aulani Resort And Spa Offers Relaxing Vacations For Families With Small Children

Disney's Aulani Resort And Spa Offers Relaxing Vacations For Families With Small Children

Children are entertained and engaged with magic around every corner of Disney’s Aulani Resort and Spa in Hawaii. The resort makes it even easier to have a relaxing family vacation with young children. Toddlers will love splashing around at the pool, building sand castles on the beach, or having a magical encounter with Mickey Mouse. A host of child-friendly amenities and enhanced services make this destination resort an ideal choice for young families.

Activities

  • There’s fun for kids ages 3-12 at Aunty’s Beach House, a 5,200-square-foot club open 8 a.m. – 9 p.m. daily. Disney-trained counselors inspire and entertain with dance contests, science experiments, Hawaiian storytelling, dress up, movies and snacks.
  • Throughout Aulani, little ones are sure to spot some familiar faces—Disney Characters who can’t wait to meet them!
  • On the Menehune Adventure Trail, adults can take children on an interactive journey led by the mischievous “little people” of Hawai‘i.
  • Water works wonders for kids, and Waikolohe Pool is “zero entry” making it easy for little minnows to enter. Lifeguards are on duty from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. and tot-sized float vests are available.
  • Youngsters can splash at Menehune Bridge, an interactive water-play area with three slides, a climbing structure and more. Here, tots can discover menehune, the mythical little people known for mysterious happenings on the islands.
  • Curious kids can peek through giant windows embedded in caves at Rainbow Reef, a private snorkeling lagoon filled with colorful marine life and some fun surprises.
  • Laniwai, the family-friendly spa, cradles babies in the lap of luxury with a special session geared toward teaching parents how to massage their child (up to two years old) to help with sleep and digestion. While one parent learns the art of baby massage, the other parent relaxes with a massage treatment. Family massage is on the menu too, for kids over five years old with a parent or guardian.
  • Sea, sun, and sand beckon youngsters to the beachfront to build sand castles, frolic in the waves and take in the beauty of the island.
  • The Daily ‘Iwa is a handy planning tool to check daily schedules for poolside games, storytelling and Disney Character meet and greets.
  • Upon check-in, pint-sized stools, televisions and interactive fun at Nā Pua Place kid’s lounge keep young guests entertained.

Amenities

  • There is no need to pack all the baby gear, as strollers, swings, car seats and other baby essentials can be rented through Paradise Baby Company, which also provides in-room delivery.
  • Baby-care products such as disposable diapers, baby wipes, formula, and teethers are for sale at Kālepa’s Store.
  • Aulani has bed rails, bottle warmers, outlet covers, booster seats and high chairs that can be “checked out” (with a deposit) for use during a stay.
  • Private poolside cabanas offer added shade and privacy for a peaceful afternoon slumber. Reservations are required.

Accommodations

All guest rooms have portable cribs/playpens, bedding, and a mini refrigerator.
The spacious Disney Vacation Club Villas feature at-home conveniences, such as kitchenettes and a washer/dryer.

Services

  • Nurturing babysitters are on site to care for and entertain either in-room or at the resort pool, beach or restaurants. Reservations are required.
  • Disney chefs have kids in mind with all-time favorites on the “keiki” or kids menus. Plus an elaborate buffet with Mickey and friends is sure to delight at Aunty’s Breakfast Celebration at Makahiki on select days. Reservations are required.

Exploring the Dining Options At Aulani, A Disney Resort and Spa

Aulani Dining Options

Inspired by the natural wonders and rich traditions of Hawai‘i, Aulani is the ultimate family getaway—celebrating the beauty, history and welcoming spirit of the island. Guests will enjoy a variety of restaurant options at Aulani—from casual to upscale to lively Character Dining. There’s something to satisfy nearly every taste and style.

ʻAMAʻAMA – Contemporary Island Cooking

Inspired by a beachside house, ‘AMAʻAMA – Contemporary Island Cooking is a stylish open-air restaurant just steps from the ocean. ʻAMAʻAMA is a fish abundant in these waters, a local favorite. This restaurant, open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner, is right on the ocean, an attraction in itself.

For breakfast, guests can opt for simple eggs and potatoes, or Belgian waffles. However, ʻAMAʻAMA also serves delicious Pacific Rim dishes such as seared island fish or the Japanese breakfast – with Misoyaki Island Catch, tamago, miso soup, steamed rice, and pickled vegetables. The traditional “Loco Moco” breakfast is a sunny-side-up fried egg, white rice and hamburger patty topped with onion gravy. Another guest favorite is a simple Açai Bowl served with berries, banana, granola and local island honey. However, the signature breakfast dish is chocolate milk-dipped haupia (pronounced how-pee-YAH) bread French toast stuffed with bananas and peanut butter (haupia is a traditional coconut-milk based sweet pudding.) And Mauka Maile’s 100% Kona press pot coffee is the favorite morning beverage.

Lunch features American favorites with a twist: an Angus chuck burger with crispy pork belly, pepper jack cheese, and marinated kale; Kālua-roasted pulled pork sandwich in steamed rice buns; and sustainable catch fish tacos with slaw and salsa.

At dinner, ʻAMAʻAMA serves up the best in modern interpretations of Hawaiian cooking. The signature starter is the ʻAMAʻAMA seafood platter, with ceviche, crab legs, jumbo shrimps, and oysters. Other appetizers include big eye tuna poke, macaroni au gratin with lobster and Maui onion soup. Main dish entrées range from seafood Thai curry to grilled prime New York striploin. Fresh fish options include the daily sustainable catch and Hawaiian snapper “lau lau,” served with sautéed spinach, Maui onion, and tomato-ogo vinaigrette.

Sweet endings include a Mocha Chantilly Cake, with Coffee Kanten, Coffee Anglaise, Macadamia Nut Nougatine and Chocolate Gelato, as well as a Lemon Grass Crème Catalana, with Coconut Glace, Black Sesame Nougatine and Fresh Coconut Shavings.

The entryway of ʻAMAʻAMA is framed with a design inspired by the ancient fish traps still used by local fishermen, opening into the spacious dining room with a thatched roof, walls of mosaic, rough stone, or painted in cool shades of blue remindful of the waves of the ocean. A concrete fountain and reflecting pool are the restaurant’s fishing-themed focal point.

Makahiki – The Bounty of the Islands

With a buffet that’s open daily for breakfast and dinner, the spirit of the Makahiki – The Bounty of the Islands is celebrated in the fresh and flavorful cuisine.

Starting with breakfast, the spread includes everything from a simple Continental offering to a Western breakfast with eggs, bacon, sausage, oatmeal, potatoes, pancakes, waffles, French toast – even grilled mahi mahi and grilled Kālua pork hash. The Chinese/Japanese buffet has soy milk, soba noodles, grilled and seared island fish, tamago, greens, miso soup, steamed rice, fried rice and pickled vegetables.

For youngsters, the “Keiki Corner” features fruit, yogurt, granola, Mickey-shaped waffles, chocolate-chip pancakes, eggs, bacon, tater tots and breakfast pastries.

Favorite Disney characters celebrate with diners at “Aunty’s Breakfast Celebration at the Makahiki” every day.

The casual dinner buffet features line-caught sustainable seafood, fresh salads with local greens, rotating carving stations, Asian-inspired entrees, and house-made desserts. A melting pot of cultures, the expansive buffet features starters from a lomilomi salmon to cheeses, lobster bisque, and cioppino. On ice, shrimp, marinated squid, scallops, mussels, lobster and tiger prawns showcase the abundance of seafood. Entrees might include sustainable catch, seafood paella, grille poke, roast duck with plum sauce and chicken wrapped in seaweed. For Asian flavors, there’s sushi and sashimi, Chinese pork buns, fried noodles, dim sum and wok-fried seasonal vegetables. The grill heats up with chicken wings, pork chops, Asian-spiced lamb chops, sausages and assorted satay, while live-action stations feature kinds of pasta with vegetables, meatballs, clam stew, Portuguese sausage, and carved meats or fish.

“Keiki Corner” for youngsters may include macaroni pasta, baked chicken tenders, potato tots and steamed vegetables.

And there are plenty of sweets, such as chocolate brownies, no-sugar-added mango cheesecake, guava mouse cakes, pineapple cobbler, molten chocolate cake and banana coconut bread pudding.

The interior of Makahiki, showcases beautiful works by local artists, from paintings to glass art. In the entry, artists Butch Helemano and James Rumford collaborated to convey the story of the Makahiki season of peace, play and renewal (the Makahiki season is the traditional Hawaiian celebration of the harvest). Rumford sketched the designs and wrote texts for Helemano’s wood carvings that illustrate the sights and events of the Makahiki season. Also in the restaurant, artists Al Lagunero and Solomon Enos collaborated on a mural that depicts feasting and gaming. As day turns to night, the restaurant lighting gradually turns from rose to indigo with the setting of the sun.

Off the Hook

Next door to ‘AMAʻAMA near the ocean is Off the Hook, inspired by a fisherman’s seaside shack, decorated with makau, or fish hooks, cowry-shell lures, shark-tooth knives and specially carved fish-shaped stones.

Open daily from 11 a.m. for tropical drinks and small bites, Off the Hook favorites include the beef paniolo burger, with pepperjack cheese, crispy onion tanglers and chipotle BBQ sauce, and the kalbi tacos, with sliced short ribs or chicken and kim chee aioli.

A colorful school of fish swims above the bar, which serves creative cocktails including a Wild Hibiscus Royale Sparkling wine cocktail, Island Red Sangria, a Pineapple Papaya Cosmo and Big Island Iced Tea. Non-alcoholic drinks range from a passion colada to a pineapple ginger splash. There’s beer on draft – Big Wave Golden Ale, Fire Rock Pale Ale, Longboard Island Lager, or the seasonal Aloha Series. And every day there’s an ‘ike mua, or “discovery drink of the day.”

Other Dining

Lava Shack, across from the Rainbow Reef snorkel lagoon, stocks pool snacks and beverages. Pāpālua Shave Ice is on the pool deck and serves up fruity and refreshing shave ice. Ulu Cafe is a poolside venue serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner feature an outdoor patio with a beautiful ocean view. Little ‘Opihi’s is a beachside, quick-service eatery offering convenient grab-and-go selections of salads, wraps and fresh fruit. Mama’s Snack Stop serves up poolside snacks like hot dogs, chicken tenders, and more.

Lounges

Exploring the Dining Options At Aulani, A Disney Resort and Spa

The ‘Ōlelo Room

Appropriately named, ‘Ōlelo (pronounced oh-leh-low) is the Hawaiian word for “word, language or to converse,” making it the ideal place to enjoy becoming more conversant in Hawaiian. In The ‘Ōlelo Room lounge, most everything is labeled with Hawaiian terms. And if guests need a little help, the bartenders all speak Hawaiian. The pub-like spot offers cocktails and small plates.

Cool starters include pristine sashimi, ahi poke and a cheese platter with Lehua honey and seasonal fruit. Hot plates include beef sliders, crispy calamari and Kālua pork nachos. For a sweet ending, the miniature dessert sampler features chocolate mousse with a toasted brownie, coconut panna cotta with braised pineapple and macadamia nut cheesecake with guava pate de fruit.

Delightful cocktails such as the wild hibiscus sparkling Champagne, eco-tini, tropical mai tai and Big Island iced tea are among more than a dozen specialty drinks. If you prefer non-alcoholic, go for the pineapple ginger splash, passion colada, sparkling island spice cooler and/or liliko’i splash. Beer fans can choose from four local drafts: Big Wave Golden Ale, Fire Rock Pale Ale, Longboard Island Lager or the seasonal Aloha Series, as well as a selection of bottled beers.

Located in the main building on the lower level, the lounge has a design inspired by the “streamline moderne” style of the 1940s, emphasizing curving forms and long horizontal lines. When guests look down, they’ll see papahele, the Hawaiian word for floor, spelled out in beautiful tile work. Dozens of shadow boxes above the bar display wooden carvings of everyday objects labeled with their Hawaiian language terms: for instance, mokulele is airplane, wa’a is canoe, he’e is octopus, pu’uwai is heart.

Other Lounges

Sip, dine, relax and enjoy a soothing escape at Wailana Pool Bar, located in the adult-exclusive pool area. At Off The Hook, Guests can grab a quick bite while enjoying a full bar and enchanting ocean views in this laid-back, pool-adjacent lounge.

Aerial Construction Photos Of Toy Story Land and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

Hi there Chip and Company friends! It has been a while since we had our last check-in with @bioreconstruct. I don’t know about you, but I’m excited to get the latest bird’s eye view to see how construction progress is going at Hollywood Studios. Scaffolding has appeared along the two attractions in Toy Story Land and the Millenium Falcon attraction looks impressive at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Let’s take a look….

TOY STORY LAND (summer 2018)

I’m so excited for when Toy Story Land opens this summer!

Once Toy Story Land is open, Toy Story Midway Mania will no longer use its current entrance. Guests will enter the attraction through this new entrance inside the new land.

Scaffolding has been installed around both the Slinky Dog Dash Coaster and Alien Swirling Saucers. The final piece of track was installed on Slinky Dog Dash back in August.

Woody’s Lunch Box is coming along nicely. According to the storyline from Disney, this is where Andy has used his lunch box and thermos to create a walk-up quick-service window that will serve up tasty meals and old-fashioned soda floats. You can see the concept artwork below.

Toy Story Land

STAR WARS: GALAXY’S EDGE (opens 2019)

New construction work has begun in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. It’s amazing that only a service road separates Andy’s Backyard from Batuu, a remote outpost on the galaxy’s edge.

This attraction will give guests the opportunity to fly the Millennium Falcon, piloting the ship, shooting blasters or preparing for hyperspace – all while completing a critical mission. It won’t be long before the walls will be completely up and we won’t see inside again until 2019. You can see the concept artwork below.

With stunt performers rappelling from atop the funnel, an epic battle at sea ensues as the good guys take on the villains. Disney characters join guests for a raucous good time, complete with music and dancing. The party culminates in a spectacular pyrotechnics display—fireworks at sea like only Disney can do.

Other first-run releases and Disney classics are shown in the Buena Vista Theatre. Both state-of-the-art theaters feature digital 3-D, bringing a new dimension of cinematic entertainment to the high seas.

Atop each ship’s forward funnel, Funnel Vision is a state-of-the-art, jumbo LED screen. Classic Disney animated features, movies, major sporting events and more are shown, as well as video presentations to enhance outdoor entertainment and deck parties by the family pool.

Daily character greetings, variety acts, and live entertainment are also part of every cruise.

Fun for Children, Tweens, and Teens

Aboard Disney Cruise Line ships, it’s great to be a kid. Children can let their imagination sail free in nearly an entire deck customized just for them. Tweens and teens have places to kick back, and the smallest seafarers are cared for in a colorful space inspired by the classic theme park attraction, It’s a Small World. Dedicated, age-specific areas and customized, interactive programs inspire, entertain and spark the imagination of children up to age 17.

While children are enjoying the most extensive youth activity areas at sea, parents can enjoy the ship “worry-free,” thanks to complimentary wave phones that allow crew or kids to contact parents anytime and anywhere on the ship. Plus, all Disney Cruise Line youth activities are supervised by specially trained counselors and feature some of the longest operating hours at sea. This provides greater flexibility for parents and even more fun for kids.

Disney Cruise Line Offers Fun Unforgettable Experiences for Guests of all Ages

Infants and toddlers (up to 3 years old) are cared for and entertained with toys, books, crafts and games at It’s a Small World Nursery. Disney Cruise Line babysitting services offer the longest operating hours of any cruise company.

Disney Cruise Line Offers Fun Unforgettable Experiences for Guests of all Ages

Children can customize their vacations by choosing from a variety of activities. Disney’s Oceaneer Club and Disney’s Oceaneer Lab (ages 3-12) transport children to magical realms of adventure and exploration. Tweens (ages 11-14) enjoy video games, a multitude of hi-tech entertainment arts and movies in Edge.

For the teens, Vibe (ages 14-17) provides an ultra-cool teen-only hangout. It’s the perfect chill-out spot with music, large-screen TVs, games and snacks. On the Disney Fantasy and Disney Dream, teens have their own private deck for fun outside in the sun.

Adults Relax, Dine, and Play

Disney Cruise Line offers adults upscale and sophisticated experiences designed just for them. From elegant dinners to backstage tours to the exclusive Quiet Cove pool, adults will find endless ways to relax and enjoy themselves in areas set aside just for them.

Relaxation and rejuvenation take center stage at Senses Spa & Salon. The only thing here that’s more indulgent than a massage, body wrap or pedicure is enjoying a treatment in a spa villa complete with an indoor suite connected to a private outdoor verandah with personal hot tub and open-air shower.

Palo, located high atop each ship, is a romantic fine-dining restaurant exclusively for adults. Remy (Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy) is the premier Disney Cruise Line adult-dining option. Meanwhile, Cove Café provides the perfect place to sit back and sip a gourmet coffee.

After Hours (Disney Magic, Disney Wonder), The District (Disney Dream) and Europa (Disney Fantasy) are nighttime entertainment neighborhoods offering adults an array of entertainment in clubs and pubs each night.

On the private Disney Cruise Line island, Castaway Cay, adults have a beach all their own. At Serenity Bay, sparkling turquoise waters meet pristine white sand, and two-person hammocks provide a peaceful place to relax. Private ocean-side cabanas are the ultimate venue for luxurious spa treatments.

Exceptional Dining Experiences

Uniquely themed restaurants are as delightful as they are delicious. While guests visit different restaurants each night, the same servers accompany them. This concept provides a variety of dining experiences and menus along with friendly, familiar, personalized service each night.

Disney Cruise Line Offers Fun Unforgettable Experiences for Guests of all Ages

At Animator’s Palate, Pacific Rim flavors combine with California freshness and a host of other cultural and culinary influences. As an added treat, passengers enjoy dinner and a show. On special evenings during cruises seven nights or longer, “Animation Magic” brings guests’ own drawings to life on screen. Aboard the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder, scenes from Disney films magically come alive with color throughout “Drawn to Magic,” a black-and-white to color animation show. On the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, the restaurant transforms into a shimmering undersea world as part of “Undersea Magic,” where Crush, the sea turtle from the Disney•Pixar film “Finding Nemo,” swims around the room, conversing with and entertaining guests.

Carioca’s (Disney Magic) is inspired by the vibrant atmosphere of Rio de Janeiro. Tiana’s Place (Disney Wonder) features flavors inspired from the Louisiana Bayou. Enchanted Garden (Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy) is a casual restaurant inspired by the gardens of Versailles, featuring a seasonal menu of market-fresh ingredients.

Elegant Lumiere’s (Disney Magic), Triton’s (Disney Wonder), Royal Palace (Disney Dream) and Royal Court (Disney Fantasy) combine the best of continental cuisine with casual elegance for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Adults-only dining options include Palo, a premier restaurant featuring sweeping ocean views and modern Italian cuisine, and Remy (Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy), an exquisite, French-inspired gourmet restaurant.

Disney Difference

Most Disney Caribbean and Bahamian cruises lead to the magical shores of Castaway Cay, a private island paradise exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests, with separate activities and areas for families, teens, and adults.

On a Disney cruise, staterooms are family-size, immaculately appointed with a nautical Disney flair and smartly designed to let guests stretch out in style and comfort. As an added convenience, most staterooms feature a “split bath-and-a-half” with a sink and tub/shower in one room and a sink and toilet in a separate room.

Where to Stay at Disneyland Paris

Paris
Where to Stay at Disneyland Paris

Each of the hotels at Disneyland Paris is themed to tell a story – of adventure, romance or elegance in another time and place. Each has its own distinctive architecture and design. And each offers comfort and convenience for guests of the Resort.

There are six Disneyland Paris hotels plus the large Disney’s Davy Crockett Ranch wilderness retreat. The Victorian elegance of the luxury-class Disneyland Hotel, the relaxed woodland setting of the moderate Disney’s Sequoia Lodge and the American Southwest atmosphere of the value Disney’s Hotel Santa Fe, are just a few of the options.

In 2011, at the dawn of its 20th Anniversary celebration, Disneyland Paris wanted to restore all the magic to its seven themed hotels and launched a major renovation project for its 5,800 rooms, spanning several years. Disneyland Paris has put its heart into being able to offer its guests an unrivalled experience.

Some of the first renovation works to be carried out were at Disney’s Sequoia Lodge, which now includes a whole new superior level of accommodation in the Golden Forest Club; also at Disney’s Hotel Santa Fe, now themed around the famous Route 66 and featuring designs inspired by the Disney Pixar animated film Cars. Guests already seem to love the recent renovations with increased results in the satisfaction surveys for both hotels.

Disney’s Newport Bay Club has undergone the most extensive refurbishment in the history of Disneyland Paris. Quality and comfort levels have been improved and the 1,100 rooms redecorated to reflect the hotel’s nautical theme.  The new Compass Club, with its Luxury Suites and exclusive Lounge, offers exclusive advantages to our Guests.  The Yacht Club restaurant reopened in December of 2015, with a redesigned menu inspired by the cuisine of New England with Mediterranean influences.

Disney’s Hotel Cheyenne just received a magical overhaul and completely re-opened to guests earlier in 2017.

Next up is Hotel New York. Hotel New York will close in October of 2018. Hotel New York will re-open as “Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel.” Guests can expect immersive Marvel themeing when it re-opens in 2020.

Disneyland Hotel (Prestige deluxe hotel)

This majestic Victorian-inspired hotel built over the entrance of Disneyland Park is the ultimate Disney hospitality experience, offering guests a return to the days of grand hotels and opulent lifestyles.

It has 496 luxurious rooms, including The Castle Club on two privatised floors with 18 suites and 51 rooms. Amenities include an indoor swimming pool, whirlpool, and a fitness room with sauna and steam room. The luxurious Disneyland Hotel also treats its guests with an elegant and state-of-the- art spa: The Celestia Spa offers hotel guests the ultimate choice in beauty treatments to enhance wellbeing, inner peace and happiness.

The hotel has two restaurants, both overlooking Main Street, U.S.A.: the buffet restaurant Inventions, and the California Grill table-service restaurant, serving a colourful reinterpretation of Californian cuisine, including original and refined signature dishes.

Guests can have dinner at Inventions in the dazzling company of guest stars, the Disney Characters, who are also present during the hotel’s traditional Sunday brunches.

The hotel has a cocktail bar, Café Fantasia, with décor inspired by the 1940 Disney Classic Fantasia. It also has a boutique featuring Disneyland Paris merchandise as well as luxury and collector’s items, a children’s play area, video and arcade games, free Wi-Fi internet connection, 24-hour room service and valet parking. The Disneyland Hotel is also a unique and magical place where every little girl can become a Disney Princess for a Day with a Princess’ make-up and hair-styling session.

Disney’s Hotel New York (Deluxe hotel)

Designed by noted architect Michael Graves, Disney’s New York Hotel resembles a stylized version of the Manhattan skyline and the exclusive homes and apartments of New York’s fashionable East Side. The interior design of Disney’s Hotel New York reflects the Art Deco style of 1930s America and the Pop-Art culture of the 1970s. It includes witty visual references to “the great American pastime” of baseball, and to New York’s reputation as “The Big Apple”. In the deluxe 565-room hotel, the Empire State Club offers 58 premium rooms and suites located on the 6, 7 & 8th floors, and the private Empire State Lounge. Amenities include indoor and outdoor swimming pools (weather permitting), an eco-friendly seasonal open-air skating rink reminiscent of Rockefeller Center at the Hotel’s lakeside entrance, floodlit outdoor tennis courts, a health club with exercise room, steam room and sauna, whirlpool, video games room, 24-hour room service, baby-sitting service, free Wi-Fi internet connection and concierge. The hotel has a chic bar, the New York City Bar and two restaurants: the Parkside Diner is an international buffet, while the table-service Manhattan Restaurant serves cosmopolitan gourmet food in a circular upscale dining room reminiscent of New York’s jazz clubs of the 1930s. The elegance follows through to the 5,000m² New York Coliseum Convention Center, reached by way of a corridor modeled on the Manhattan subway. The Convention Center has two fully equipped conference halls and 55 meeting rooms.

Disney’s Newport Bay Club (Mid-range hotel)

A tribute by architect Robert A.M. Stern to the elegant seaside homes of New England at the turn of the 20th century, Disney’s Newport Bay Club has the aspect of a sailing club, with a large veranda, slate roofs and brightly striped awnings. The lakefront hotel has 1,100-rooms, decorated to reflect the hotel’s nautical theme, and including the premium Compass Club, comprising rooms and suites, and offering exclusive services such as a private and personalised check-in, luggage service and a private Lounge. Amenities include indoor and outdoor swimming pools; a health club with sauna, whirlpool and fitness equipment; and free Wi-Fi internet connection.

The hotel has a themed bar, the Captain’s Quarters, and two restaurants: the Cape Cod restaurant featuring an international buffet, and the table-service Yacht Club restaurant, a warm, elegant and contemporary dining space, serving cuisine inspired by New England with Mediterranean influences, and featuring modern signature dishes. Younger Guests can also create their own dessert in a special events space.

Disney’s Sequoia Lodge (Mid-range hotel)

French architect Antoine Grumbach was inspired by the Arts and Crafts-style lodges of American national parks for his design of Disney’s Sequoia Lodge, which features stone and wood accents, parquet floors and a gigantic chimney. Surrounded by giant sequoias and other beautifully themed landscaping, the hotel has 1,011 rooms, some in independent buildings called Lodges. 124 rooms and suites in the Main Building form the premium Golden Forest Club, which offers exclusive services such as a private and personalised check-in, luggage service and private lounge. Facilities include an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, whirlpool and a health club with sauna, free Wi-Fi internet connection, children’s corner and the Redwood Bar and Lounge which features a huge stone chimney. Dining is buffet style in the Hunter’s Grill restaurant.

Disney’s Hotel Cheyenne (Value hotel)

Imagine waking up in the Wild West, just like the setting of a Western movie!  The Hollywood image of the American cowboy inspired Robert A.M. Stern’s design for Disney’s Hotel Cheyenne. The hotel features streets lined with boardwalks and two-storey wooden buildings named after famous Old West personalities like Calamity Jane and Wild Bill Hickok, as well as landmarks like the blacksmith’s shop, the boarding house and the laundry. The 1,000-room hotel is popular for families with children. Amenities reflect the cowboy movie theme: there’s a children’s play area (seasonal) in a mini pioneer fort, an Indian village, pony rides (seasonal), the Red Garter Saloon and the Chuck Wagon Café with western-style fare. Facilities also include free Wi-Fi internet connection (lobby and bar).

Disney’s Hotel Santa Fe (Value hotel)

Architect Antoine Predock’s roots in his native New Mexico are clearly on display in his design for this desert-themed 1,000-room hotel. It salutes the dawn of the “family drive” era of the mid-20th Century, when Americans took to the road and set off to discover their country. Disney’s Hotel Santa Fe resembles a stop on Route 66 in the American Southwest, with adobe-style pueblos and, at the entrance, a drive-in theatre screen permanently displaying Flash McQueen & Sally, heroes of the Disney•Pixar film Cars. The hotel features La Cantina, a restaurant with an all-you-can-eat buffet offering European and Mexican specialities, and the Rio Grande Bar. Facilities also include video games at the Pow Wow Game Room, and free Wi-Fi internet connection (lobby, bar and rooms).

Disneyland Paris
Davy Crockett Ranch

Disney’s Davy Crockett Ranch (Home away from home)

Nestled in 57 hectares of forest and designed like a frontier “trapper village”, Disney’s Davy Crockett Ranch is a self-drive destination. It is for guests in search of relaxation in a wilderness retreat. Disney’s Davy Crockett Ranch features 584 equipped log-style cabins that accommodate up to six. Just 15 minutes drive from the Disney Parks and Disney Village, the retreat features a general store, a saloon and Crockett’s Tavern for family dining – or you can cook your own meals in your cabin or on the barbecue. An indoor swimming pool with a waterfall and slide, and a tennis court make the Ranch an ideal family getaway. The Ranch also features Davy Crockett Adventure, an exploration trail featuring swings, trapezes, rope bridges and ladders. Guests have free access to Guest Parking at the Disney Parks. Facilities also include free Wi-Fi internet connection (bar and reception).

Goofy’s Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel

Looking for the best steak or cup of coffee at Disneyland? What about which restaurants offer a meal hosted by Mickey Mouse himself? Use this guide as a handy reference when in comes to dining at the Disneyland Resort.

Most romantic dinner spot: It’s a toss-up between Napa Rose at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, a corner table at Steakhouse 55 in the Disneyland Hotel, or Blue Bayou inside Disneyland Park.

Favorite spots for outdoor dining: The terrace at Wine Country Trattoria, the patio at Carthay Circle Restaurant and the back patio at Flo’s V-8 Cafe in Cars Land, all at Disney California Adventure Park; Carnation Cafe on Main Street, U.S.A., the front porch of Plaza Inn and River Belle Terrace (where we’re told Walt Disney used to have breakfast on Sunday mornings), all in Disneyland Park; the terrace at Napa Rose, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa; Uva Bar, Downtown Disney District.

How to order kosher meals: Kosher meals are available at most table-service restaurants at the Disneyland Resort. A 24-hour notice is required, and the meals are purchased from an outside vendor. Guests also may bring their own preferred kosher products.

Fill ‘er up: Favorite self-serve, buffet-style restaurants include breakfast at Plaza Inn, Disneyland Park; Goofy’s Kitchen (brunch and dinner), the Disneyland Hotel; breakfast at Disney’s PCH Grill, Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel; and breakfast at Storytellers Cafe, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa.

Where is Mickey Mouse? Best place to find the Big Cheese is Surf’s Up! Breakfast with Mickey and Friends at Disney’s PCH Grill at Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel.

Best steak dinner: Steakhouse 55 at the Disneyland Hotel (the generous bone-in rib-eye is a hands-down favorite), or the grilled filet of Angus beef tenderloin at Napa Rose.

Best cup of coffee: Starbucks at Market House on Main Street, U.S.A., in Disneyland Park, and at Fiddler, Fifer & Practical Cafe at Disney California Adventure Park.

Best vegetarian: All table-service restaurants offer vegetarian choices, but for creations with the season’s freshest ingredients, guests may try Catal Restaurant and Uva Bar at Downtown Disney District, or Napa Rose at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa.

Tops for families: Gather round the table for breakfast or dinner at Goofy’s Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel, where the Disney characters will have you dancing, or Blue Bayou Restaurant in Disneyland Park, with twinkling lights and a magical ambience.  Storytellers Cafe at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa spurs family conversation with beautiful wall murals that depict tall tales set in the Golden State’s early days.

Grown-ups’ night out: For an evening without the kids, favorites include Napa Rose at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and Steakhouse 55, at the Disneyland Hotel.

Best place to grab a quick sandwich:  Cozy Cone Motel, Disney California Adventure Park; Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe and Hungry Bear in Disneyland Park; Earl of Sandwich or La Brea Bakery at Downtown Disney District.

Outstanding wine list: Napa Rose at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa offers a selection of 80 wines by the glass from an award-winning list of more than 450 international wines (80 percent Californian) and a 17,000-bottle cellar.

Best lounges: Steakhouse 55 or Trader Sam’s Enchanted Tiki Bar, both at the Disneyland Hotel; Napa Rose or Hearthstone Lounge, both at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel& Spa, and the lounge downstairs at Carthay Circle Restaurant, in Disney California Adventure Park.

‘Mary Poppins Returns’ Made the 10 Most Must-See Films of 2018 List

'Mary Poppins Returns' Made the 10 Most Must-See Films of 2018 List

Photo cred: USA Today

‘Mary Poppins Returns’, which releases Christmas day in 2018, has made USA Today’s list for the Top 10 Must-See movies of 2018. They also debuted this new picture from the movie.

“Emily Blunt acknowledges that it’s hard to put in words what it’s like to play author P.L. Travers’ iconic nanny, though “joyful” and “utterly magical” do come up in conversation. Julie Andrews played the role in 1964 and the flying umbrella passes to Blunt for a sequel set in 1930s Depression-era London, where Poppins revisits a now-grown Michael (Ben Whishaw) and Jane Banks (Emily Mortimer) when their family needs her again. Back in the day, a spoonful of sugar helped the medicine go down, but Blunt’s Poppins hews more to Travers’ literary character. “I just loved how eccentric and wacky she is in the books — incredibly vain and rude to the children,” Blunt says. “As a British person, I really responded to that lack of saccharine relationships. I find it comforting the idea of someone just sweeping in who’s no-nonsense and cleaning everything up and making everything right again in a magical way that’s not sentimental.”” -USA Today

I am super excited to see this movie next year!
