As we previously reported, it was rumored that Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ at Disney Springs would soon be opening for brunch. Today, we are excited to confirm that rumor and let you know that reservations are currently available on your My Disney Experience account. Even better news, brunch will begin this Sunday, June 10!

Per the Homecomin’ website, Chef Art invites you to “put on your Sunday best because he’s is puttin’ on the grits! Get your appetite ready for a selection of feel-good dishes like fried chicken and house-made sugar doughnuts, shrimp & grits, short rib hash, and an open-faced big biscuit topped with poached eggs, griddled country ham and house-made hollandaise sauce. And heavens to Betsy what’s brunch without cocktails? Enjoy crafty libations including white peach sangria, mimosas with fresh-squeezed juices and an over-the-top Bloody Mary with all the fixins’. Disneyland Paris 25th Anniversary sweet treats from Disney Village were delicious and spectacular. Chip was invited to Disneyland Paris to celebrate the FanDaze celebration throughout the park! It was a fun an non-stop meeting of the rarest Disney Characters like Roger Rabbit, Bolt, Clarabelle Cow and Clarice, Joy and Sadness, Remy and Emile, The Robinsons, and so many more! Kiosks and carts lined Disney Village with treats from burgers, apple crumble, doughnuts, cookies, pizza and more… the restaurants of Disneyland Paris have gone all-in with 25th Anniversary-themed menus for 2017.

There are new and updated menus, mostly covering Counter Service and Quick Service locations to celebrate the 25th Anniversary as well. You’ll also find star-shaped doughnuts and cookies, and a few special anniversary menus such as those at Café Hyperion and Restaurant En Coulisse, with the “25” logo crisped into the very tasty Charolais beef burger with rocket.

Walt Disney’s World’s newest Disney Vacation Club Resort, Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge recently walked away a winner from Las Vegas! During this year’s annual American Resort Development Association (ARDY) Awards, Copper Creek was awarded the prestigious ACE Project of Excellence Award.

The ACE Project of Excellence Awards recognizes Copper Creek Villas & Cabins as the “best of the best” in a variety of disciplines including resort design and sustainability to community impact, to sales and marketing to day-to-day operations. This award also recognizes that the resort “has attained the very highest level of excellence in the resort industry, and whose accomplishments and dedication spur the industry to new heights.”

The DVC resort was also awarded the ARDY Award for best Multimedia Marketing Campaign.

Wine Bar George Invites You to Celebrate National Rosé with a Special Rosé Tasting

National Rosé is this Saturday, June 9, and Wine Bar George at Disney Springs is celebrating with two tasting events. Both rosé tasting events will be led by Master Sommelier George Miliotes.

Guests are invited to Wine Bar George to learn to taste like a Master Sommelier in celebration of National Rosé Day. Taste through six rosé wines alongside delicious cheese and charcuterie with Master Sommelier George Miliotes.

The first rosé tasting event will be held on Friday, June 8 from 3:30 to 5:00 pm. The second tasting event is scheduled to be held on Saturday, June 9 also from 3:30 to 5:00 pm.

Wine Bar Geroge just opened last month and quickly became another Disney Springs hot spot.

Disneyland Will Increase Cast Member’s Pay to $15 an Hour

If you’ve been following along with us, you will know that Disney is currently in intense union negotiations at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World. It seems some progress may be made with Disneyland’s negotiations as it is being reported that Disney has agreed to raise Cast Member’s pay to $15 an hour.

The raise won’t come overnight but rather will be phased in over the next few years. Entry-level employees who are currently making $11 an hour will immediately see their pay increase to $13.25 an hour. Then, by 2020, Disneyland Cast Members will see that $15 an hour. This reflects a 36% increase in pay over a three year period. California currently has a law in place that would require employers to pay their employees $15 an hour by 2022.

Back in 2014, Walt Disney Company, CEO, Bob Iger, increased Walt Disney World Cast Member’s pay to $10 an hour.

Disneyland Park and California Adventure Park employs around 30,000 people in Anaheim, California.

Redd Arrrr-rrrives at Disneyland Park This Week!

As we previously reported, a new brassy buccaneer is set to arrive at Disneyland Park this Summer. We are happy to report that “Redd” will be making appearances for all her fans this Friday, June 8.

“Redd” is known for traveling throughout the Caribbean selling rum and looking for treasure but has decided to veer a little off course this Summer to make a visit to New Orleans Square at Disneyland Park.

Ahead of her arrival in Disneyland, Disney Parks Blog writer Jennifer Fickley-Becker caught up with her for a Q&A session. See what “Redd” has to say below:

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Well, if I needed friends, they’d call me Redd. Pirates call me ‘Rrr’ for short. I been ‘round the world, but the sea is always home.

Do you know Captain Jack Sparrow?
That Sparrow owes me a new ship. Wouldn’t be surprised if he found himself in irons once more. If you see Mister Sparrow, I’m lookin’ for ‘em!

Some pirates think it’s bad luck to have a woman aboard a pirate ship. What do you think?
T’is far worse luck not to.

What is treasure to you?
Coin o’course! I accept it all—Spanish doubloons, English farthings, French livre, Dutch lion dollars and Portuguese moidore.

Are you looking forward to meeting guests in New Orleans Square?
I s’pose. I be searching for brave sorts of recruits for a few little ventures.

Bonuses Can Be Withheld By Disney According To The National Labor Regulations Board

Last week, The National Labor Board ruled in Disney’s favor stating that the company is well within it’s rights to withhold bonuses during a wage renegotiation. The $1,000 bonuses for 125,000 cast members were announced by Disney in January following a corporate tax cut passed by Congress. That bonus was paid to workers that were not a part of the Service Trades Union that was undergoing the wage negotiations. The coalition then brought charges of discrimination and retaliation against Disney.

The Service Trades Union and Disney have been renegotiating wages for over a year. Some members are asking that Disney raise it’s minimum wage from $10 an hour to $15 an hour. Disney did offer to raise the wage to $15 an hour by 2021 in exchange for a concession on overtime and holiday pay but some members were not satisfied. Negotiations are set to resume on Friday.

The National Labor Board Regional Director David Cohen stated “There is no evidence that the employer is refusing to meet and bargain further about bonuses and wage rates. Accordingly, there is insufficient evidence to establish that the employer has unlawfully failed to bargain in good faith.”

Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time Blu-ray and DVD Review

A Wrinkle in Time Review

I was so excited to a get a review copy of Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time in the mail a few weeks ago. I had wanted to see the movie in the theater but never made it – life, kids, life! My oldest is only 5 so I also wanted to watch it for myself before making the decision to let him see it. Spoiler alert: I’ve let him watch it and he loved it just as much as I did!

Before we talk about the actual story, can we discuss the amazing visuals that we got in their movie. The costuming and makeup for Mrs. Who, Mrs. Which and Mrs. Whatsit are out of this world! I was blown away by how awesome it looked on my television screen and can only imagine the impact it had on the big screen. I thought the special effects were really well done too!

I also love the message behind the book and how the movie stayed true to it. That was the main reason I was excited for my son to watch it with me. It sparked some great discussion at the dinner table for the next few nights. Yes, some of it went a little over his head, but even he got the main message behind the film.

In Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time we met Meg Murray. Four years ago her father, a scientist, went missing and she’s never been able to move past that. With the help of her brother, Charles Wallace, and her friend, Calvin, Meg takes off through space and time with Mrs. Who, Mrs. Which and Mrs. Whatsit to find her father. She experiences things and learns lessons along that way that I think are relevant to all of us and this movie was a wonderful reminder!

The star-studded cast added just a little extra something to the film as well – but I may be biased because I’m a huge Reese Witherspoon fan!

Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time comes out on Disney Blu-ray and DVD on June 5th! Make sure you pick up a copy today – it’s a movie you’ll want to add to your Disney collection for sure!
