Pop’t Art Recipe From the 2018 Epcot International Festival of the Arts

Pop't Art Recipe

The 2018 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts kicks off today. As Epcot guests explore the world of talent surrounding them, they can tempt their palates with culinary work-of-art creations at the festival’s Food Studios. For those not able to attend this year, we are bringing you a fun festival recipe to try at home, “Pop’t Art” sugar cookies!

SUGAR COOKIE (Makes 6)
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup butter
1 egg white
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, sifted
1/8 teaspoon salt

TOPPING
6 tablespoons chocolate-hazelnut spread

GLAZE
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
3–4 tablespoons milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Food coloring

FOR SUGAR COOKIE:

  1. Cream the sugar and butter in the bowl of an electric mixer fitted with a paddle attachment until fluffy. Add egg white and beat for 1 minute.
  2. Slowly add sifted flour and salt and beat at medium speed until a soft dough forms.
  3. Cover bowl and chill in refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  4. Preheat oven to 300°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment or silicone baking mat.
  5. Roll dough into a 1/4-inch thick rectangle on a lightly floured surface.
  6. Cut into six, 3×5-inch rectangles.
  7. Place cookies on prepared baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes, until golden brown.
  8. Cool for 30 minutes.

FOR TOPPING:

  1. Spread 1 tablespoon of chocolate-hazelnut spread on each cookie, leaving a border of about 1/8 inch around the edges of each cookie.
  2. Set aside.

FOR GLAZE:

  1. Whisk powdered sugar, 3 tablespoons of the milk, and the vanilla extract in a pie plate until smooth. Add additional milk if the glaze is too thick.
  2. Set aside 2 tablespoons of glaze in a small bowl.
  3. Dip each cookie, chocolate-hazelnut side down, in the glaze to cover the chocolate.
  4. Set on a wire rack to dry.
  5. Mix remaining glaze with desired color or colors of food coloring. Use a fork to drizzle colored glaze on top of the cookies.

The Lion Guard: The Rise of Scar DVD Review

Rise of Scar

The Lion Guard special event the Rise of Scar is now on DVD, and what a fun fantastic full length adventure it is! The new DVD is available now, and ready to unleash the roar!

The Lion Guard: The Rise of Scar DVD Review

Be prepared for the Rise of Scar! With the arrival of the Dry Season, tensions run high, patience wears thin and thirsty tempers flare. To make matters worse, Janja’s hyenas, aided by Ushari the snake, discover a secret that could bring back the vengeful spirit of the legendary villain, Scar!

The feature episode is a wonderful dip into nostalgia for those of us parents watching this new series with our children. Ushari the Snake makes for a delightful new villain you love to hate, and kind of reminds me of Kaa from the Jungle Book. This episode offers valuable lessons in emotion, and working together. The DVD also includes other episodes from the series including others that tie in with the history of Scar and the Hyenas, which makes it a great DVD for re-watching. As this series expands we get to meet more characters who continue to pass the torch of our beloved Lion King, including a new apprentice for Rafiki.

Included Episodes:

  • The Rise of Scar
  • The Trouble with Galagos
  • Janja’s New Crew
  • Baboobs!
  • Lions of the Outlands

This is a fun family DVD that’s especially great for a rainy or snowy day. Our family loved the Rise of ScarThe Lion Guard: The Rise of Scar DVD Review, and we look forward to even more adventures with the Lion Guard!

Minnie Mouse Gets Her Own Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Minnie Mouse Gets Her Own Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Minnie is finally getting her own star! That’s right—Minnie Mouse is getting her very own star in front of the El Capitan Theatre. And that’s just in time to celebrate her 90th anniversary in entertainment this year!

Pop superstar and Disney fan Katy Perry will be one of the guest speakers presenting Minnie with her well-deserved star. This momentous occasion is happening on January 22 at 11:30 a.m. PST. Bob Iger, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company, will also be presenting. Some of our favorite icons will be in one place, and we’re all for that! You can join in on the celebration by tuning in to watch the event exclusively on the official Hollywood Walk of Fame website.

Producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies Ana Martinez said:

“Minnie Mouse is a woman of the ages and her iconic status makes her a great addition to our Walk of Fame! Generations of fans of all ages have been looking forward to her seeing her bright new star.”

Minnie will be making her mark as the 2,627th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, following in the footsteps of Disney favorites including Donald Duck, Tinker Bell, Winnie the Pooh, Snow White, Kermit the Frog, and—of course—the one and only Mickey Mouse.

Ever since her debut in “Steamboat Willie,” Minnie has starred in over 70 films and become Disney’s darling recognized around the world. Her timeless fashion has not only served as fashion inspiration for our own wardrobes but for designers’ collections as well—a classic Minnie polka dot look that is unmistakable in magazines and runway shows. And Minnie uses her fame for a good cause—the #ShareYourEars campaign in 2016 and 2017 earned $4 million in donations benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

Minnie is truly a Renaissance woman. This is a significant moment in Disney history and we’re all part of it—we can’t wait to visit and snap a pic with Minnie’s star!
