Menu Released For Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic

Food & Wine Classic Menu

The Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Resort has revealed the menu and themed areas for the 2018 Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic, returning Friday, October 26, and Saturday, October 27.  The menu features returning festival favorites alongside delightful new dishes and a Hawaiian Luau themed area, making its debut.  Fans can now visit www.SwanDolphinFoodandWineClassic.com to view the 2018 food menu as well as purchase tickets and overnight packages.

Notable new dishes on the 2018 menu include:

  • Dynamite Rock Shrimp with late season Zellwood corn, wasabi foam, matsutake mushrooms, Japanese eggplant and crispy lotus root from Todd English’s bluezoo

  • Vietnamese Lemongrass Meatballs “On a Stick” with Vermicelli noodles, pickled vegetables and sriracha espuma from Cabana Bar and Beach Club

  • Braised beef agnolotti with caponata-agrodolce, baby leeks, and glace de viande mornay sauce from Il Mulino

Menu Released For Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic

  • Shake & Bake Style Southern Fried Chicken with black eyed pea puree, white cheddar fondue and bacon infused roasted garlic gravy from Picabu

Returning favorites include:

  • Oven roasted beef rib eye from Shula’s Steakhouse
  • Dragon sushi roll from Kimonos

The new Hawaiian Luau themed area will be called The Pig & Poke and joins the event’s other popular themed areas that offer specialty cuisine in immersive atmospheres: Carnival Corner, Chinatown, Bubble Lounge and a Beer Garden.  More information on The Pig & Poke will be announced later.

Original dessert offerings will once again be served by World Champion Pastry Chef Laurent Branlard.

The ninth annual Swan and Dolphin Food & Wine Classic will also bring back the Sunday Bubbles Brunch on Sunday, Oct. 28.

Tony Award-Winner Will Perform Theme Song For Disney Junior's Reimagined 'Muppet Babies' Series

Tony Award-winner Renée Elise Goldsberry (Broadway’s “Hamilton”) will perform the theme song for Disney Junior’s highly-anticipated animated series “Muppet Babies,” premiering this March on Disney Channel. The iconic theme song has been reimagined for a whole new generation of young viewers by the acclaimed songwriting team of Kay Hanley, Michelle Lewis and Dan Petty (“Doc McStuffins”). It will be released by Walt Disney Records on Friday, February 23.

Based on the original Emmy® Award-winning series, the all-new CG-animated “Muppet Babies” chronicles the hilarious playroom antics of the young Kermit the Frog, Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Gonzo, Animal and brand-new Muppet Baby, Summer Penguin.

In addition to portraying Angelica Schuyler in the hit Broadway musical “Hamilton,” Goldsberry also starred on Broadway in “The Color Purple,” “Rent” and “The Lion King.” She currently stars, as rebel leader Quellcrist Falconer, in the Netflix sci-fi series “Altered Carbon.”

“Muppet Babies” is co-production between Disney Junior, Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media’s Publishing and Digital Media group (DCPI), and The Muppets Studio. Tom Warburton (Disney’s “The 7D”) is executive producer, Matt Danner (Disney’s “Gravity Falls”) is supervising director, and Emmy Award-winner Eric Shaw (“SpongeBob SquarePants”) is story editor and co-producer. Andy Bean (“Puppy Dog Pals”) serves as the series’ songwriter/composer and Keith Horn (Disney’s “The 7D”) is co-composer.

Disney Changes Their Jewelry Packaging to Make Items Easier for Gift Giving

The Disney Park Merchandise team has recently changed the way that Disney-themed jewelry items are packaged making them perfect for gift giving or for making sure your items and packed away nicely during car trips and flights home.

As you see from the picture above, jewlery now comes affixed to a mini gift bag which makes it easy to carry along with you and surprise that special someone. Here’s a closer look:

Jewelry merchandiser Clay Chaffin had this to say about the change: “When designing products, we continually look for ways to enhance our guests’ shopping experience. We began placing jewelry on removable cards and attaching those cards to miniature gift bags. This change improved in-store displays by making products easier to showcase by story, and, more importantly, it gave guests a simple yet elegant way to gift Disney jewelry. The response has been great!”

The new packaging design features decorative jewelry cards attached to removable bows or clasps to the outside of the gift backs.  Guests can detach the cards which can easily be placed inside the mini bags adorned with Disney artwork making instant packaged gifts.

To celebrate the new reusable gift bags, the jewelry team launched several new collections.  These include a “Dots & Dashes” collection that celebrates the best of Minnie and Mickey Mouse.  There’s also a “Kingdoms & Castles Collection” that salutes Disney Princesses or animated classics like “Alice in Wonderland” and “Peter Pan.”  Finally, there’s a sure-to-be-popular Disney Villains collection and “Magic and Mischief” collection with the Haunted Mansion as it’s focus.

New Store Opening In Disney Springs- The Corner Store

The newest store in Disney Springs, The Corner Store, is now open! The 2-story store is filled with toys, dolls, apparel, and accessories for princess’ of all ages! The Corner Store is only open for a limited time so make sure to make plans to visit during your next outing to Disney Springs.

In honor of the opening, Disney is celebrating with a full weekend full of special surprises. Starting today and going through Sunday, shoppers should be on the lookout for extra in-store magic.

Here are some of the details:

  • Today! Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2018: Make a purchase at The Disney Corner and you could have a chance to enjoy a complimentary cookie at Amorette’s Patisserie, located nearby, while supplies last. (Tip: arrive early for your best chance to score a sweet treat!)
  • Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018: All day long, enjoy a cute-as-a-button special surprise with every Disney Corner purchase, while supplies last.
  • Friday, Feb. 16, 2018: Experience a karaoke-style princess sing-a-long, every hour on the hour.
  • Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018: Disney PhotoPass photographers will be roaming the store from noon to 4:00. p.m., capturing memories for guests willing to strike a pose.
  • Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018: Be surprised!

Everything We Know So Far About Slinky Dog Dash In Toy Story Land

Your Toy Story pals are getting ready for you to join. Soon you’ll be able to step into Toy Story Land where kids and grown-ups alike can experience all-new adventures you’ll only find at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort beginning summer 2018. In the so-much-larger-than-life setting of Andy’s backyard, Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie and the rest of the Toy Story gang invite you to take part in the adventure together.

Andy’s assembled his awesome coaster kit and Slinky Dog is poised to take you on a wild journey. The new Slinky Dog Dash whooshes throughout the land. Hold on for an exhilarating ride that twists Slinky Dog’s coils around curves, hills, bridges, and drops. It’s a crazy ride the whole family can enjoy together.

We can see from the concept art what the entrance to the Slinky Dog Dash queue will look like. Of course, a FastPass+ entrance is included in the image. I also see off to the far right of the image a test ride vehicle that will be available for guests to make sure they can fit comfortably.

Although Disney hasn’t officially stated this, we are assuming that Slinky Dog Dash will have the same height requirement of 38″ as Disney’s other family-friendly coaster, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

You can see from the concept artwork that the Slinky Dog Dash track takes up most of the Toy Story Land’s 11-acres of real estate.

Gluten Free Options at Maria and Enzo’s in Disney Springs - Allergy-Friendly Dining!

When I heard that Maria and Enzo’s at Disney Springs is willing to accommodate food allergies and dietary needs, I was so excited to embark on a Gluten Free adventure!

After being greeted by our amazing server, Florindo, who took the time to explain the amazing dinner menu for us, we studied the incredible drinks menu. We began our beautiful meal with the Roman Sangria, which Tooti, Chip, and Lisette enjoyed. The amazing General Manager, Gabriele Penazzi (who tells the best stories about Italy!) even checked the ingredients for me, and then we decided on the Classic Bellini, which was crisp, perfectly sweet, and the prettiest shade of Rose Gold.

For the appetizers, Tooti and I had the Prosciutto de Parma; a gorgeous selection of Prosciutto, Italian cheese, and a trio of accompaniments… If I had a vat full of the accompaniments (especially the Caponata and Mostarda di Frutta!), I would likely be tempted to eat them all! This has to be one of my favorite appetizers on Disney Property and hands down my new favorite at Disney Springs!

We then moved on to the Arance E Finocchio salad, which featured a delightful balance of the lightly bitter fennel, beautifully complemented by the bright citrus dressing. Top it off with pistachios and the flavor profile tastes like something you would find in a 5-star restaurant.

I had the Filetto (beef tenderloin) with a side of Gluten Free pasta and Marinara, which was so delicious! The Filetto was cooked perfectly to my preference, seared on the outside, with the perfect amount of juicy, tender steak inside. It is paired with a delicious pesto sauce, with a hint of parsley mixed in for the perfect amount of bright freshness. I was so excited that they offer a Gluten Free pasta! The sauce tastes like it has been lovingly cooked in an authentic Italian kitchen, while Dean Martin and Pavarotti play in the background. Yum!

Tooti enjoyed the Bistecca (ribeye) steak with the Gluten Free pasta and Marinara as well! The steak was perfectly cooked, and beautifully marbled to deliver the maximum amount of decadent flavor.

Next up: dessert! While you will be tempted to eat every morsel of your delicious meal here at Maria and Enzo’s, be sure to save a bit of room for dessert! Tooti had a trio of Italian Gelato, including Pistachio, Chocolate, and Strawberry. The flavors are so incredible and truly shine through in this delicious dessert trio. I had a refreshing Lemon and Orange Sorbetto, which finished off the meal with a nice hint of citrus. I absolutely loved the flavors of the Orange Sorbetto, which came together for an almost creamy finish.

We topped off our meal with Limoncello and Arancello, both absolutely delicious after-dinner apertifs!

Bottom line: Maria and Enzo’s was AMAZING with accommodating allergies and special dietary needs. This was one of the most delightful dinner experiences that I have had in a long time – I felt completely comfortable and taken care of knowing that these allergies were being handled by such a caring staff.

Speedway Gas Station Near Magic Kingdom Closed For Lengthy Refurbishment

Guests driving at Walt Disney World should be aware that the Speedway gas station closest to the Magic Kingdom (1000 Car Care Dr) is now closed for a lengthy refurbishment. Although a re-opening date has not been announced we are hearing that this upgrade will take several weeks to complete.

The station will re-open with a new Speedy Cafe, a counter service restaurant that serves made to order items. Speedy Cafe’s use kiosks that guests can use to place their orders. Choices will include items like breakfast sandwiches, burgers, specialty drinks and more.

If you are seeking a hearty breakfast then a Made-To-Order Omelet is a great way to go.  Served with Artisan Toasted Bread and Breakfast Potatoes, the Omelet will have you feeling full and ready to explore the Disney Parks.

The Breakfast Sandwiches are a delicious combination of meats, melted cheeses, and eggs.  We had the Ham ‘N’ Swiss.  The melted Swiss Cheese, combined with the saltiness of the ham and the warm artisan bread, made for an awesome breakfast option that was filling and satisfying.

If you have a preference for something sweet then you must try the Cinnamon Bun.  This beautiful pastry is soft with a bit of chewiness and is topped with just the right amount of icing to keep it from being too sweet.  We would have loved to have it served warm, but its great all on its own, and makes a great grab-and-go option as it comes in its own plastic covered container.

Yesterday, Disney sent the Dapper Dans around Magic Kingdom to deliver singing Valentines to all the characters. Some of those characters being Cinderella and Capt. Jack Sparrow himself. Their last stop was, you guessed it, the Haunted Mansion to visit Master Gracey. But he was… indisposed…

Disneyland welcomes Rey

When it comes to all things from a galaxy far, far away, Star Wars Launch Bay in Tomorrowland at Disneyland is your go-to!  Beginning in May a new face will join this interactive experience.  Disneyland welcomes Rey, the Resistance’s newest hero, for guests to meet.

Rey is a scavenger from the planet Jakku, who was toughened by life on a harsh desert planet.   No matter how she views herself, she learns that the Force is at work in her life.

Rey is a central character in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi.  She has become an inspiration to Star Wars fans.

Rey will join Chewbacca as they visit with guests at the Light Side character experience throughout the summer.  Darth Vader and Kylo Ren will greet guests at the Dark Side area. Encounter times are subject to change, so make sure to check the Entertainment guide on the day of your visit.

Black Panther Soundtrack Available Digitally on Feb. 16th!

The amazing digital album of the Black Panther score is going to be released on February 16, 2018! You won’t want to miss out on this.

The film is directed by Ryan Coogler and produced by Kevin Feige with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Nate Moore, Jeffrey Chernov and Stan Lee serving as executive producers. Ryan Coogler & Joe Robert Cole wrote the screenplay. Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther” hits U.S. theaters on February 16, 2018.

“Black Panther” marks Göransson’s third collaboration with director Ryan Coogler (“Creed,” “Fruitvale Station”). The Swedish-born composer wrote the original songs for “Creed” and has also produced albums for Childish Gambino, Haim, and Chance the Rapper.

Göransson recorded the score in London with a 132-piece western classical orchestra, African percussionists and a 40-person choir. Göransson said, “After reading Ryan’s first draft of the script, I quickly realized that the only way I could properly score ‘Black Panther’ was to travel to Africa to record, research and learn from as many musicians I could find. I was introduced to Senegal’s most incredible musicians and storytellers, and from there it all started to come together. One of the instruments that especially caught my attention was the talking drum, which together with West African sabar drums and ceremonial rhythms, became the foundation for the score.”

Göransson infused a wide array of African instrumentation into the score and character themes. Speaking about the score’s creation, Göransson notes: “The talking drum is used for T’Challa’s main theme, with one hit per syllable of his name played on the drum. For Erik Killmonger’s theme, the name was sung and screamed into a fula flute to convey the “musical interpretation of the character’s ferocity.” Sabar drums were used to “propel the story and to highlight both the country of Wakanda and T’Challa’s movements, especially in his fight scenes.” Sabar drums are used in traditional African wrestling “making them perfect for the action scenes.”

Göransson’s biggest challenge was to blend a western classical orchestra and modern production with traditional African rhythms and harmonies. He adds, “Together with Ryan Coogler, we worked out new ways of combining the three elements into something traditionally authentic and truly unique, that I hope embodies the heart and soul of Wakanda.”
