As we approach the one-year anniversary of Pandora at Disney World’s Animal Kingdom theme park, Disney has a very special Avatar-themed treat in store for visitors. New Pandora Utility Suits which you will recognize from the original Avatar film will begin making the rounds of this out-of-this-world land. Their mission is to collect plant samples and study wildlife.

This incredible suit was created in partnership between Lightstorm Entertainment, Disney Parks Live Entertainment, Michael Curry Studios and Walt Disney Imagineering.

The Utility Suit will be seen in and around Pandora – The World of Avatar starting on April 22nd, the same day that Animal Kingdom’s 20th Anniversary celebrations kick off.

Woody, Buzz, Rex, and friends are coming to the big screen in 2019 for the release of Toy Story 4! It was announced today the fourth installment of Disney-Pixar’s Toy Story will be released June 21st, 2019. The first Toy Story film was released in 1995 with the 2nd in 1999, and 3rd in 2010. Fans of all generations have followed Andy’s toys to Infinity and Beyond! We can’t wait to see which of our favorite characters come back in this new animated addition to the Toy Story legacy.

Disney Shanghai is celebrating Disney Earth Month with “Nature Exploration” within the park and resorts. Guests can take part in themed activities from searching for butterflies, learning about plants, and educational sharing about the environment. Celebrate earth among the resorts, Wishing Star Park, Disneytown, and the living ecosystem across from the park.

Cast Members will work with guests from now until April 22^nd sharing ideas on how to protect the environment. Take part in nature exploration with Cast Members through a journey where they will show young guests how to care for animals, learn about flowers and trees, and educate them on how their actions affect the environment. Guests who finish the journey could be picked to be the grand marshal on Mickey’s Storybook Express during the park’s parade.

The Celebrate Earth Spring Carnival in Disneytown will hold the string of events from April 13^th to the 22^nd. Shanghai Disney and Disneytown will jointly host the following activities:

Sword in the Stone Live Action Remake's Production Start Date Announced

Disney’s newest live action remake, The Sword in the Stone, now has an official production start date. Filming is set to begin in Belfast, Ireland on September 24, 2018. Casting is already underway for roles such as Arthur and the infamous wizard Merlin. Helmer Juan Carlos Fresnadillo has been named director. His previous movies include 28 Weeks Later (2007) and Intacto (2001).

Disney’s recent live action remake of the 1991 classic, Beauty and the Beast, soared past $1 billion while in theaters in 2017. It starred Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as the Beast. The film brought back the original story as well as hit songs such as Be Our Guest and the famous Beauty and the Beast by Mrs. Potts.

Also recently announced by the Walt Disney Company is that they will begin a streaming service in 2019. All Disney movies will be available through the service, minus any R-rated films such as Deadpool and Alien from the recently acquired 20th Century Fox. While the cost for Disney’s streaming service has yet to be announced, it is expected to be similar in cost to Netflix and Hulu.

Live action remakes of Disney classics have become so popular that there is already a line up of anticipated films. The Lion King, Mulan and Aladdin are just a few that have been confirmed while Lady and the Tramp already has a director, Charlie Bean.

AP Exclusive Little Green Alien Popcorn Buckets Coming Soon To Disneyland

Everyone’s favorite little green aliens are descending upon Disneyland in celebration of Pixar Fest and the new Pixar Pier! Beginning April 24th, Annual Passholders will be able to purchase lovable premium popcorn buckets featuring the green aliens from the hit movie Toy Story. The buckets will be $20 with unlimited $1 refills until June 21, 2018

Simply stop by select popcorn carts between April 24th and May 24th and show your AP to receive your premium bucket. Cart locations include Frontierland, Main Street USA, New Orleans Square, Fantasyland, Mickey’s Toontown and Tomorrowland at Disneyland Park and Buena Vista Street, Grizzly Peak and Hollywood Land at Disney California Adventure Park. Select carts will not be available for refills.

The number of buckets available may be limited and the $1 refills only apply to those buckets purchased between April 24th and May 24th. Refills will not be available at Cozy Cone Motel, Downtown Disney or the Disneyland Resort hotels. Offer does not include pre-bagged, pre-boxed or flavored popcorn.

Tickets Go On Sale for the 2018 Radio Disney Music Awards in Just a Few Short Weeks

This year’s Radio Disney Music Awards will kick off in Hollywood on June 22nd. Voting to determine which artists will wine the Radio Disney “ARDY” stattutte will open up on April 27th as well. Tickets will also go on sale on the 27th and can be purchased through Ticketmaster.com

Cannes Film Festival Will Screen Solo: A Star Wars Story

Cannes Film Festival will screen “Solo: A Star Wars Story”. It was announced today by Lucasfilm that “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” the newest Star Wars galaxy adventure, has been selected to screen at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival in Official Selection and Out of Competition during the film festival’s run, May 8-19, 2018.

Ron Howard, who directed the film, is said to be attending. It is said he will be joined by cast members Alden Ehrenreich, Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller, Joonas Suotamo and Paul Bettany.

“Solo: A Star Wars Story” is a high-octane adventure that navigates the perils of a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, forges new friendships that will last a lifetime, and reveals untold secrets from the hidden past of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes. In this film we will see Han Solo meet his loyal co-pilot Chewbacca and notorious gambler Lando Calrissian for the first time. Thanks to a desperate mission set against impossible odds, audiences will see what helped shape the irresistible scoundrel they have come to love!

This is the second film in the Star Wars story series It follows “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story,” which opened in December 2016, and has garnered worldwide box office receipts of over $1 billion dollars.

The film is produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Allison Shearmur and Simon Emanuel. Lawrence Kasdan, Jason McGatlin, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are the executive producers. Jonathan Kasdan & Lawrence Kasdan wrote the screenplay.

Disney Contributes $1.5 million to Meet Me At The Park

Meet Me At The Park

The Walt Disney Company has committed to making a $1.5 million contribution to support the Meet Me at the Park program organized by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). Disney and the NRPA will provide park and recreation agencies across the United States and within U.S. territories to apply for a grant to improve access to fun, safe and unique play spaces. The overall goal of this grant is to encourage children and families to spend more time at their local parks.

This is the fourth year Disney and NRPA have worked together as part of the Meet Me At The Park project to assist in funding local park improvements in 16 cities.

You can become a part of Meet Me At The Park by voting for one of 15 select cities and also nominating one additional city or town (including your hometown) for the chance to receive a $20,000 grant to support the parks improvement project within that community.
