Celebrate Mom this May with Mahalo Mama Month at Aulani

Mahalo Mama Month

Is one day really enough to celebrate Mom?  At Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa, you can celebrate Mom all May long during Mahalo Mama Month.  What better way to say “Thanks” while you’re visiting Aulani.

Here are a few ways to say “Mahalo,” or thanks, to Mom:

  • Let Mom get pampered at Laniwai Spa.  You’ll find the rejuvenating Mahalo Mama Spa Package at Aulani Resort’s award-winning spa. This package includes a Lomilomi Massage (25 Minutes), Cinderella Facial (25 Minutes) and Yummy Mummy Organic Pedicure (50 Minutes). And before she gets pampered she can spend time in the Kula Wai—the spa’s tranquil outdoor hydrotherapy garden—to unwind and relax.
  • Start her day right – with breakfast in bed. The chefs at Aulani’s in-room dining have created a special menu item that is brought right to her bedside. This Hawaiian-style French Toast is stuffed with chocolate and strawberries, topped with warm strawberry compote and whipped cream – the perfect treat for a special woman.
  • Moms love their ‘Ohana.  And every Sunday in May is all about family.  You can create a Lei Poʻo (Head lei) and learn the art of Hula with your mom at the Pau Hana Community Hall. Then you can head over to Rainbow Reef, Aulani Resort’s private snorkel lagoon, and swim among the more than 1,000 tropical fish. What a perfect way to spend a day AND Mom will get a 10 percent discount in May (either one day or length of stay access).
  • Memories of your vacation are always special. Those magical Aulani memories should be captured on camera!  Disney PhotoPass cast members are available throughout the resort to do just that. And take advantage of a special offer in May that will give guests 15% off Family Portrait Sessions! Then head over to the Pau Hana Community Hall and can decorate photo frames and other mementos during arts and crafts time. What Mom wouldn’t love a one-of-a-kind keepsake?

The Millennial Pink Food Craze Has Come to Epcot!

Epcot

Epcot

Over the past few days, we have been reporting about the Millennial Pink food craze that has taken over Walt Disney World. Today, I’m here to share with you a Millennial Pink Cupcake that you can try at the Fountain View in Epcot.

This Millennial Pink Cupcake features a tasty vanilla cupcakes filed with strawberry pastry cream and topped with a buttercream. Of course, it is topped with adorable Millennial Pink fondant Minnie Ears!

The Millennial Pink Cupcake pairs nicely with a cups of Starbucks coffee which is also served at Fountain View. I also think it goes nicely with all of the gorgeous flowers and topiaries that are currently on display in Epcot for the Flower & Garden Festival.

If cupcakes aren’t your thing, there is also Millennial Pink chocolates, cake pops and even Millennial Pink Champagne at various spots throughout the Walt Disney World Resort!

Enjoy!

A Culinary Adventure Around the World at Epcot

A Culinary Adventure Around the World at Epcot

I was recently tasked with drinking and eating “around the world” at my recent visit to Epcot! A challenge I happily accepted. (I’ll do anything for our readers) I’m excited to share with you my journey around the world and some of the best food options that can be found in each of the 11 country pavilions.

Take a look for yourself and tell me what some of your favorites are:

Mexico Empanadas

Mexico

In Mexico I tried the Empanadas de Barbacoa and they did not disappoint! The Empanadas are filled with barbacoa beef and topped with chipolte sauce, crema Mexicana, and queso fresh. They are also accompanied by a side of corn esquites. They have a bit of spice to them but not too bad….especially if you wash them down with a margarita!  You can find them at the Choza de Margarita cart and cost $9.75 plus tax.

Norway school bread

Norway

When we arrived in Norway I went straight for the famous School Bread available at the Midnattssol Bakeri cart. I have to say this was my first time trying it and not what I expected but it was still delicious! I know why it is one of the most popular snacks at Epcot. The School Bread is just $3.75 or a snack credit with a Dining Plan.

China spicy meatballs

China

Next stop was China. I wanted to try something a little different and spotted the Spicy Meatballs at the Lotus House kiosk so decided to give them a shot. They were so good! Not too spicy but oh so delicious. They are served with a crispy tofu and vegetable mixture on top. They cost $5.00 or a snack credit with a Dining Plan. It is important to note that the Lotus House and the spicy meatballs are special to Epcot’s Flower & Garden Festival so they are just available a few months out of the year.

Germany brats

Germany

I was so excited to get to Germany and sink my teeth into one of the juicy Bratwurst from Sommerest. The Bratwurst is served on a freshly baked roll with sauerkraut and a side of amazing house-made parprika chips. I washed it all down with the famous Pink Grapefruit Beer as you should too! The Brat is $10.29 plus tax. (And, yes, I do put ketchup on my Brat!)

Italy tiramisu

Italy

I was looking to try a piece of pizza from the Via Napoli Pizza Window but unfortunately it was under refurbishment. Instead, I ordered the Tiramisu Popsicle from the Via Napoli cart. The delicious “Popsicle” features a creamy tiramiso gelato layered with espresso dipped ladyfingers and topped with cocoa powder. It is just $7.50 and makes the perfect after dinner snack!

United States

Since I was trying to eat very “international” I did not stop for a snack in the United States Pavilion. However, if I did, I would have opted for the Cookies ‘n Cream Funnel Cake from the Funnel Cakes kiosk. I have tried it in the past and it was the perfect sweet treat to enjoy with your family!

Japan sushi

Japan

Next up was Sushi in Japan. I chose the Tokyo Sushi Combo and it was so good! The Combo consists of four California Rolls and three Nigiri Rolls for $12.00. The Sushi can be found at the Kabuki Cafe in Japan.

Morocco kebabs

Morocco

In Morocco, I also went for one of the booths that is set up just for the Epcot Flower & Garden Festival. At the Taste of Marrakesh Booth, I dined on the Harissa Chicken Kebab. This might have been my favorite item of everything I tasted! The Kebabs are served aside a refreshing dried fruit couscous salad. They cost $6.00 or a snack credit on the Dining Plan.

France Tomato Tarte

France

There were so many amazing options in France but I opted for the Tarte á la Tomate Provençale at the Fleur De Lys kiosk. Unfortunately, the Tarte and kiosk are also only available during the Flower & Garden Festival so they are only available for a few months out of the year. The Tarte features sautéed onions, fresh thyme, and rosemary on a flaky pastry crust. It is just $5.50 or a snack credit with a Dining Plan.

UK fish and chips

United Kingdom

Next up was the United Kingdom for some iconic Fish and Chips from the Yorkshire County Fish Shop! The Fish and Chip basket comes with two strips of fish and of course, chips. It is $11.49 and so much great food!

Canada scallops

Canada

Next and final stop was the Northern Bloom booth in Canada. The Northern Bloom booth is also a food location that is available only during the Flower & Garden Festival. After my Fish and Chips in the United Kingdom, I was still wanting some more seafood and decided on the Seared Scallops. The Scallops are served with French green beans, butter potatoes, brown butter vinaigrette and apple-wood smoke bacon. The Scallops are $6.50 or a snack credit on the Disney Dining Plan.

All and all, everything was just so good! It was hard to pick a favorite but my top three choices would be the Empanadas in Mexico, the Bratwurst in Germany, and the Harissa Chicken Kebabs in Morocco.

Disney Amends Complaint Against Redbox and Revises Licensing Agreement

Disney Amends Complaint Against Redbox and Revises Licensing Agreement

Disney had originally filed a lawsuit against Redbox back in late 2017 stating they were violating their copyrights by reselling used Disney Films.  Redbox was required to buy Disney released films in a combo pack paying the full retail price in order to rent the disks from their kiosks.  Redbox started pulling the digital codes from the films and selling them to consumers separately.

Earlier this year a judge found that the “codes are not for sale or transfer” warning was not clear enough to hold Redbox accountable for violating copyright or their agreement.  Disney has since filed a new agreement and judgment making it clear that “only those who purchase the combo packs are allowed to redeem the digital download codes.”

Disney/ABC home Home Entertainment President Janice Marinelli says,

“Redbox is unfairly undercutting Disney’s licensees by charging substantially less for codes than the price licensees charge for digital downloads. The obvious consequence of Redbox undercutting of licensee prices is that licensees will likely sell fewer digital downloads of Disney movies and Disney will earn less revenue. Although the exact amount cannot be easily quantified.”

Immersive Pixar Play Zone Now Open At Disney’s Contemporary Resort

Immersive Pixar Play Zone Now Open At Disney's Contemporary Resort

A new Zone, specificlly designed for children ages 4-12, opened at the Walt Disney World Resort on April 13th .  Children can enjoy an evening ordering their own dinner, meeting new friends, joining in fun-filled games, and engaging in interactive activities with some of their favorite Pixar Characters.  The highly anticipated Immersive Pixar Play Zone is now open on the 4th floor of Disney’s Contempary Resort.

A  pre-opening event allowed us a sneak peek at Pixar Play Zone on Friday, April 13th.  We met Show Director Tony Giordano who has experience with the design and activiites of the Kid Clubs aboard the Disney Cruise Line Ships.  Woody and Jessie greeted us and offered to head up a fabulous photo shoot.

Immersive Pixar Play Zone Now Open At Disney's Contemporary Resort
Check-in for the Immersive Pixar Play Zone begins at 5:00pm.  Children will be asked to order their own dinner by selecting an appetizer, entree, dessert, drink and snack.  For children with allergies, Pixar Play Zone makes any necessary accommodations to ensure your child has a fun and healthy meal while in their care.  Upon arrival, each child enters the Monsters Inc. Decontamination Zone aka the Handwashing Area.  Once they have been decontaminated, the adventure really begins!

Meeting new friends is part of the fun.  Children can design their own Racers in Radiator Springs and challenge each other in the Piston Cup Derby Races.  Youngsters will love the free-play arcade where they can compete against one another in a variety of arcade games.

The Living Room is the place to be for fun-filled games and experiences.  Children can participate in Space Ranger Training here.  If your child has ever dreamed of becoming a real  Jr. Space Ranger, then this is the place for them.  Come on Space Rangers, let’s say it together….”To Infinity and Beyond!”  Woody and Jessie will host their  Wild West Show, Woody’s Roundup, in this space as well.  Woody’s Roundup includes an awesome sing-a-long that your child is sure to enjoy.

Bonnie’s Play Room features a lovely Castle Play Set, Tic-Tac-Toe and a host of other toys for children to play with at their leisure.  How wonderful to see a space where children can engage in imaginative play without the use of electronics.  Our Host, Tony, told us that a couple of young girls played with that one Castle Set for the better part of the evening during one of their test nights.

Immersive Pixar Play Zone Now Open At Disney's Contemporary Resort

Mr. and Mrs. Incredible will host their Super Dance Party where children can learn some fabulous dance moves.  They will learn dances, such as the Heroes Shuffle, so be ready to have your child come home and want to host a dance party for you.

Hear what Tony Giordano has to say about what your child can expect when spending an evening at the new Immersive Pixar Play Zone here:

Looking for an adults-only evening to enjoy the parks or take in a relaxed meal at one of Disney’s Signature Restaurants?  This nightly pilot program is sure to keep your children entertained while you enjoy a date night out.  Check-in begins at 5:00pm and the program runs until 10:30pm.  Children must be fully toilet-trained and between the ages of 4-12 years old.  Cost per child is $65 plus tax and includes dinner.  Reservations are strongly recommended and space availablity is limited.  Ycu can reserve your child’s space by calling 407-824-KIDS(5437).
