Jock Lindsey – The Backstory
How did Indiana Jones’ barnstorming pilot Jock Lindsey end up in Disney Springs?

Fans of Raiders of the Lost Ark can’t forget Indy’s easygoing pilot Jock Lindsey—owner of a pet snake named Reggie—but how did Jock arrive here?

The two globetrotters stumbled on Disney Springs in 1938 while chasing down a mythology-based tip in central Florida. Attracted to the town’s natural springs and lush terrain, Jock bought some waterfront property and eventually settled down, piloting seaplane tours across the fast-growing Sunshine State.

Jock eventually built an airplane hangar, air tower and runway, and invited fellow members of The Society of Explorers and Adventurers to pay him a visit. His home base soon became a popular stopover and watering hole for world travelers and locals alike.

Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar was born!

Today, thrill-seeking families cross borders and continents to soak up the rugged charm of this artifact-strewn hangar bar, with its spare airplane parts, salvaged equipment and dusty mementos of glory days gone by.

New Halloween Time Disneyland Annual Passholder Button Released

A brand new Disneyland Annual Passholder button has been introduced! Themed for the Disneyland Resort Halloween Time festivities it is all black with orange lettering with a Mickey silhouette in the letter P.

A new Passholder button is released each week. Don’t worry if you already picked up the previously released purple AP button version, each individual button is limited to one per Annual Passholder. Just a hint that you can still pick up the purple AP button while supplies last.

You can find the new Disneyland Annual Passholder button at the AP Corner located near Stage 17 in Hollywood Land. While you are there make sure to check out the Halloween Time-themed photo op and pick up the special Halloween Time Oogie Boogie button. But you better hurry, this limited-time AP Corner offering ends September 30, 2018. Valid Annual Passport required.

Brie Larson just appeared on Good Morning America live from the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum in Washington DC to debut the first trailer for “Captain Marvel.” After much anticipation, it is here and it is EPIC!

The first “Captain Marvel” movie poster was just released and it is just as amazing!

As you will see in the first trailer for “Captain Marvel”,it is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom. The film stars Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Rune Temte, Algenis Perez Soto, Mckenna Grace, with Annette Bening, with Clark Gregg, and Jude Law.

“Captain Marvel” arrives in theaters on March 8, 2019.

A spooky new friend is about to materialize this month! A Haunted Mansion Doombuggy Funko POP will be riding into the Disney Parks on September 22! This hauntingly cute little pal features Ezra riding in an iconic Doombuggy, in classic POP fashion.

The Doombuggy pop is part of the Funko POP Ridez series. This isn’t the first POP Ridez figure inspired by a Disney attraction, we also so a Splash Mountain POP Ridez last month that was incredible as well. This is a very limited edition POP that will only be available at Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts. It will be available at two locations in Walt Disney World. You will be able to find it haunting Disney’s Pin Traders in Disney Springs, and Memento Mori in Magic Kingdom. The exact Disneyland locations have not been announced yet, but it will most likely be found at Downtown Disney for sure.

The Haunted Mansion Doombuggy Funko POP is the perfect release for the upcoming Halloween season too! I wonder if the translucent Ezra will glow in the dark?

The Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe – one of my favorite shops in all of the Magic Kingdom! There’s nothing better than being able to feel that Christmas spirit any time of the year. Recently, the shop has begun to undergo renovations to make it even more magical throughout the year.

The refurbishment at the Ye Olde Christmas Shoppe is planned in three different phases so it will still be open during the process. Cast Members expect the shop to reopen in the middle of November.

Water Returns to Rivers of America at Magic Kingdom

Rivers of America is flowing yet again at Magic Kingdom! The river was drained recently in order to complete needed track replacement for the Liberty Square Riverboat. The track replacement has been completed and the water has returned. Guests will soon be able to hop onboard the Liberty Square Riverboat for that great scenic half mile journey.

Guests cruising Rivers of America can take in the views of:

• An early American settlement
• An idyllic Native American village
• Harper’s Mill
• Fort Langhorn
• Wilson’s Cave Inn
• Woodland animals, including deer
• Unique views of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Splash Mountain and The Haunted Mansion

Water Returns to Rivers of America at Magic Kingdom

For now, the Riverboat remains still on Rivers of America. It is set to sail once again later this fall once all repairs and replacements have been completed. An official completion date has not been announced by Disney.

Mushu and Music Will Appear in Upcoming Remake of “Mulan”

“Mulan” fans everywhere were excited when it was announced that a live-action remake was in the works. We can confirm that production is underway and have some exciting details to share from the set per The DisInsider.

First off, everyone’s favorite sidekick, Mushu, will be in the live-action version of the movie. The hilarious Mushu was just as much a star of the original so I know I am excited to see him back!

Secondly, there was a rumor swirling that the live-action reboot would not feature any music from the original. When director, Niki Caro, was asked earlier this year if music would be in the movie, she said, “Yes, from what I understand, no songs right now, much to the horror of my children.” We are definitely happy to hear that is turning out not to be true and we will be able to enjoy some of the originals from the first “Mulan.”

“Mulan” is scheduled to arrive in theaters on March 27, 2020.

Walt Disney Company Layoffs in Consumer Products and Interactive Media

Walt Disney Company layoffs

Walt Disney Company layoffs have happened. Some employees of the Consumer Products and Interactive Media division of The Walt Disney Company have been laid off.

According to The Hollywood Report, these pinks slips are coming following a company restructuring in March and prior to the merger with 21st Century Fox.

With an 8 percent decline in revenue and a 10 percent loss in operating income for this most recent quarter, it is not entirely surprising that the layoffs occurred within this segment of the company.

Disney has not issued a statement on the layoffs, but sources have said that while the number of those laid off was not that large, it impacted lower-level employees up to vp-level executives.

While it can only be assumed that this may have something to do with the upcoming merger, insiders are saying that they are due to the restructuring announced earlier this year. As part of that restructuring the consumer products division would be merging with the successful parks and resorts division into a segment called “parks, experiences and consumer products,” which will be run by chairman Bob Chapek.

New Nighttime Show at Epcot

The rumor mill has been churning and Disney has finally announced a new nighttime show is coming to Epcot. that after 20 years, “IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth” will come to an end.

IllumiNations is scheduled to run to the end of summer 2019, so there is still time to get in your final viewing and allow for the anticipation to build for what’s next.

The Disney Parks Live Entertainment team is busy working on creating a new experience that will “Wow!” guests while remaining true to Walt’s original vision of the park. The new show will join a handful of new experiences including the “Guardians of the Galaxy” roller coaster, “Ratatouille” attraction and a new, out-of-this-world restaurant near Mission: SPACE.

No further details about the show have been provided at this time.
