Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Glistening Snowfalls Enhance the Welcome Return of “Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” Along with the Festive “Grinchmas” Who-lebration Signal the Start to the Exciting Holidays at Universal Studios Hollywood.

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas at The Entertainment Capital of L.A. as Universal Studios Hollywood and Universal CityWalk deck the halls with a wintry calendar of festive holiday experiences and an array of delectable treats that families and friends far and wide can enjoy.

The addition of nightly glistening snowfall to “Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” will enhance the yuletide spirit that resonates throughout the land as HogwartsTM castle transforms into a dazzling light projection spectacular and the quaint town of Hogsmeade village shines brightly with décor uniquely themed to each of the individual storefronts.

The annual holiday reunites the a cappella Frog Choir, comprised of Hogwarts students and their giant throaty frogs, who return to entertain guests with their harmonized holiday themed songs.

A wide selection of custom-made Christmas ornaments created especially for “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” will also be available. Collectibles include a variety of decorative Hogwarts castle snow globes, Hogwarts crest and mascot ornaments representing each of the houses, as well as a collection of unique tree toppers and house pennant garland.

Newly introduced holiday-themed fare and hot Butterbeer will further complement the overall experience.

“Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” will take place daily from November 17, 2018 through January 6, 2019.

As night falls on Hogsmeade village, “The Magic of Christmas at HogwartsTM Castle” will illuminate Hogwarts™ School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with colorful imagery and impressive dimensional animations that dance across Hogwarts castle in tandem to a musical arrangement from the Harry Potter movies.

“Grinchmas™” returns to Universal Studios Hollywood with a Who-lebration of fun fit for The Grinch, his faithful dog Max and a roster of Who-ville Whos. The annual event comes to life with a towering 60- foot tall whimsical “Grinchmas” tree where Martha May Who-vier and the Who Dolls will take center stage performing energetic musical sets to usher in the Christmas season in style. The Who-liday Singers—a hip boy-band ensemble—will perform a cappella concerts featuring a mix of Christmas favorites and pop rock.

“Grinchmas” will take place weekends on December 1-2 and 8-9, and daily from December 14 through December 30, 2018.

Spirited holiday décor and festive whimsy will permeate throughout the theme park including “Despicable Me Minion Mayhem” and the adjoining “Super Silly Fun Land” as a crew of very merry and mischievous Minions gleefully spread Christmas cheer to visitors of all ages.

On Universal CityWalk a spectacular 40-foot tall Christmas tree will glisten with 200,000 LED icicles choreographed to the lights and sounds of the season in the 5 Towers plaza. Santa Claus will make daily appearances and offer special photo opportunities at 5 Towers.

The iconic, dancing water fountain situated at the heart of CityWalk will also make a splash this holiday season. This visually dynamic fountain, displaying over 230 individual power jets, will project streams of choreographed water into the air complemented by red and green LED lights and an array of holiday-themed music.

Free concert performances at “5 Towers” and an eclectic ensemble of talented street performers will make CityWalk the ultimate L.A. holiday destination.

Sean Gunn Know Secrets About ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ But Won’t Share Them Yet

Sean Gunn

We all know the drama that surrounded Guardians of the Galaxy former director James Gunn and his offensive tweets years back. But yet we were never able to find out what was going to happen to the third installment of Guardians or that amazing script Gunn has written. Until now. Sort of. Sean Gunn, James Gunn’s brother and actor on Guardians of the Galaxy, has mentioned to Tulsa World in a recent interview that as far as he knows Disney still wants to make the movie and his brothers script may still be used.

“I don’t really know yet what’s going on with ‘Guardians 3.’ I know that Disney still wants to make the movie. I know that they have every intention of using the script that my brother wrote. Obviously, that was a very unfortunate situation for everybody, most of all him, but I am also somebody who had been preparing to spend half a year making that movie and now that’s up in the air.” said Gunn. “Obviously, I think it’s a tricky proposition for them to find another director to step in — and also the scheduling of a lot of other actors who are incredibly busy can’t be easy. But I know that they plan on making the movie. I had not been contacted at all for a while, but I was recently contacted by Marvel saying, ‘Yeah, we do plan to make this movie. We’re just not sure when yet.’ ”

Sean Gunn isn’t letting any secrets spill, but there is hope yet for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Disney Cruise Line President Provides Details On Lighthouse Point

Disney Cruise Line President Provides Details On Lighthouse Point

Disney Cruise Line recently announced it’s plans to purchase and develop Lighthouse Point, a small private island in the Bahamas. If acquired, this would be a cruise stop similar to DCL’s current private island, Castaway Cay. Following the announcement, protests began among environmentalist groups and island residents on whether the island would suffer damage from the development. Disney Cruise Line President Jeff Vahle has issued a statement addressing these concerns.

“Our development is designed to have as little impact as possible on the natural environment,” Vahle stated. He went on to say, “We want to work with The Bahamas to create an international destination that protects and sustains the natural beauty of this historic location; that creates quality jobs and opportunity for Bahamians; that celebrates the culture, and that strengthens the community in Eleuthera.”

He also addressed concerns surrounding the permanent jobs this development would create. “At our other Disney destination, Castaway Cay, the current average wage is more than 50 per cent higher than the Bahamian minimum wage and employees receive health benefits and work full-time schedules with the opportunity for overtime. With guests expected to be in port three to five days per week year-round and the need to complete a variety of projects on non-port days, these roles will prove much-needed employment stability. Beyond these employment opportunities, hundreds of indirect jobs will be created, along with positive economic impact through construction, port adventures hosted by Bahamians showcasing Eleuthera’s unique sites, opportunities for the sale of Bahamian goods, and relationships with Bahamian vendors and other partners.”

Lighthouse Point in South Eleuthera, Bahamas, could bring many new itineraries to Disney Cruise Line’s current line up. It could also point to proposed itineraries for DCL’s new ships, debuting in a couple of years. Join #DisneyParksLIVE on Thursday to discover more new itineraries for the magical cruise line that will be available in 2020!

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 26
8–8:30 p.m. ET/PT: The Goldbergs (Season 6 premiere)
Sean Giambrone, who plays son Adam, tells D23 the season premiere will be something special. “We usually do one homage episode a season, and in our first episode back my character turns 16 so we’re doing (an homage to the film) Sixteen Candles, which is a lot of fun. And then we pick up the crazy way we left things off in the finale, with Barry having proposed to Lainey. Erica dropped out of college, so the family has to figure all that out.” Look forward to a guest appearance from ‘80s rock icon Rick Springfield (as Erica’s boss at a karaoke bar) in the October 10 episode, and Robert Englund reprising his iconic Freddie Kreuger role from the Nightmare on Elm Street films in the Halloween episode.

8:30–9 p.m. ET/PT: American Housewife (Season 3 premiere; new time)

After weathering some heavy deaths over the past few years, Kim Raver, who plays pregnant doc Teddy Altman, tells D23 that the long-running hospital drama’s 15th season will be the season of love. “Even though the idea of love terrifies Teddy and she keeps trying to find it, she is all about love. I think this season is going to reveal so much about how she’s going to try to move forward with Owen, but it’s not going to be the typical love triangle with Amelia. We’re all going to figure it out together… with love.” And producers promise that the widowed Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) will also be opening up her heart after Derek’s death a few seasons back. Could it be with new orthopedic surgeon Link (The O.C.’s Chris Carmack), who previously served as the team doctor for the Seattle Mariners? Also look for Jackson (Jessie Williams) to make a life-changing decision.

Cedric Yarbrough (Kenneth) tells D23, “We start the show on the front lawn of the DiMeo house after they lost their home at the end of season two. We’re sleeping outside, so the family ends up moving in with me, which goes about as well as expected. I need to get them out of my house. Then, we all fly to London to find Maya’s dad, played by John Cleese. And something happens involving Buckingham Palace. I can’t believe they let us do all that we did.”

It’s so fun. And just wait until you hear the things these kids say.”

D23’S Ultimate Guide To ABC’S Fall Season 2018

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 16
8–8:30 p.m. ET/PT: The Conners (Series premiere)
Dan (John Goodman), Jackie (Laurie Metcalf), Darlene (Sara Gilbert), Becky (Lecy Goranson), and D.J. (Michael Fishman) continue to face the daily struggles of life in Lanford—from parenthood and dating to financial pressures and aging—in The Conners, and now the beloved characters will also grapple with a sudden and unexpected turn of events. Maya Lynne Robinson joins the cast as D.J.’s wife and childhood playmate, Geena, who returns from active duty overseas in Afghanistan, to her husband and daughter, Mary (Jayden Rey).

8:30–9 p.m. ET/PT: The Kids Are Alright (Series premiere)
Like ABC’s The Goldbergs, this new series is set in another decade (this time the ‘70s) and is inspired by the childhood of series creator Tim Doyle. The Clearys are a traditional Irish-Catholic working-class family with a household filled with eight boisterous sons, all having to share one bathroom. Yikes!

9–9:30 p.m. ET/PT: black-ish (Season 5 premiere)
Season 5 starts on a happy note, with Dre (Anthony Anderson) and Rainbow’s (Tracee Ellis Ross) 20-year marriage back on track. Now they’ll have to deal with Junior heading off to college, while twins Jack and Diane find some difficulty adjusting to middle school. Fans can also look forward to a special 100th episode, set to air November and sure to be full of surprises.

Lindsay Price, who plays Camille, the best friend of Jenna Fischer’s Lena, tells D23, “When we ended the season, (exes) Martin (Oliver Hudson) and Lena had gotten together, and now we have to figure out what to do next. And Arthur (Bobby Lee) and Camille saw Martin’s ex-girlfriend buying a pregnancy test, so that has to be untangled.” Uh-oh!

10–11 p.m. ET/PT: The Rookie (Series premiere)
Castle star Nathan Fillion returns to ABC as John Nolan, who signs up as the L.A. police department’s oldest rookie after surviving a life-threatening incident.

Acclaimed Disney Artist, Don ‘Ducky’ Williams, Comes to Walt Disney World

"Ducky" Williams

"Ducky" Williams

This is huge! Acclaimed Disney artist, Don “Ducky” Williams, is scheduled to make two appearances at Walt Disney World next month! “Ducky” will be on hand at The Art of Disney Store in Disney Springs on October 12 and 13 from 6pm to 9pm and again on October 14 from noon to 3pm.

Don “Ducky” Williams was born in Springfield, Massachusetts. He wrote his first letter to Walt Disney at age 10, explaining how he wanted to be an artist when he grew up. In 1980, Don quit his day job and moved to Florida.

Retired in 2017, Don spent 37 years with Walt Disney Resorts Marketing as a Senior Character Artist. Over the course of his career, he’s drawn and illustrated literally thousands of Disney stars for books, lithographs, brochures, magazine ads, theme park images, and television. Don’s most renowned achievements are the Lady and the Tramp paintings and the design of Tony’s Town Square Restaurant in Magic Kingdom park.

Don remains a frequent guest presenter aboard the Disney Cruise Line ships. He continues to paint for the Disney galleries and does occasional freelance and consulting work for the Walt Disney Company.

Guests attending his event at Disney Springs are invited to meet this remarkable artist, who is delighted to speak about his achievements with Disney, his inspirations and creative techniques—as well as autograph your art purchases!

VIDEO: 32,000-Piece Domino Set Celebrates Toy Story Land

Toy Story Land

Toy Story Land

Toy Story Land has been open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World for just under three months now! To celebrate, Disney has decided to “PLAY BIG” and put together an amazing domino maze that is a must see!

The Toy Story Land-inspired structure of 32,000 dominoes features a series of complex chain-reaction tricks and stunning special effects with classic toys you’ll spot in our new immersive land! The intricate domino creation, which was built freehand inside the Arena at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, also includes beautiful Pixar character domino murals of Buzz Lightyear and Woody.

Lead domino artist and popular YouTube star Lily Hevesh, who is also a huge fan of Disney Parks and Toy Story Land, started the chain reaction by rolling the iconic Pixar ball into the first of the dominoes. What took Lily and a team of four other expert domino builders nearly a week to set up at the Sports Complex, toppled in less than five minutes.

Now, watch it all fall down:

In the video, you’ll notice several complicated domino tricks paying tribute to the new immersive land at the Walt Disney World Resort, including the first trick of sending Alien Swirling Saucers toys into a string of dominoes. Other “wow” moments include a Slinky Dog toy propelling a ball through a Slinky toy as well as a domino fall activating a Buzz Lightyear Bubble Blower toy.

And as a finale, a large domino wall falls to reveal signs from Toy Story Lands and Disney-Pixar experiences at Disney Parks around the world. Do you recognize any?

During the six-day process of setting up 32,000 dominoes, the Disney Parks Blog team joined Lily and the domino builders to see how the magic happens. Check back soon for a special Disney Parks Blog behind-the-scenes look at this amazing Toy Story Land-inspired creation.
