For two nights, the park will host a single exclusive event for guests that includes special food, merchandise, and more. The Sweethearts’ Nite and 90s Nite events will open at 6 p.m. after park closing. Guests to both events will be treated to attractions that will remain open exclusively for them! 90s Nite – Mar 7

If you’re like me, you consider the 90s to be the “golden age” of Disney films. So…much…nostalgia! Well on March 7th, visit Disneyland Resort and make sure to pack your butterfly clips! That’s right, the second After Dark event is a 90s-themed celebration! Guests are invited to rock their favorite 90s inspired attire while reliving some of their favorite 90s Disney moments. Throwback music will accompany a special fireworks show, guests will receive a commemorative fanny pack and unlimited Disney Photopass downloads, and 90s themed merchandise, food, and drink will be available! This sounds like too much fun!

It’s sure to be an extravagant and fun-filled two “nite” celebration. I may go just to get the fanny pack! Visit Disneyland.com to purchase tickets and view pricing details. Parking, of course, will not be included in ticket prices. It’s worth noting as well that tickets are limited in availability, so set those plans with your childhood friend or loved one to visit Disneyland Resort for their After Dark event!

The”Magic of Christmas” Comes Alive at Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Magic of Christmas

The"Magic of Christmas" Comes Alive at Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Muggles got you down? Grab a hot butterbeer and take a stroll through Hogsmeade and experience Christmas in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood. From November 17- January 6 both Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley will be offering extra special holiday magic in Universals already magical themed lands- there may even be snow!

The"Magic of Christmas" Comes Alive at Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Enjoy the sights of the classic Christmas decorations throughout the land. While the snow-capped rooves and gas lamps are present year round, they really set the tone at Christmas. In Hogsmeade, the Frog Choir sets the time with seasonal music, while over in Diagon Alley Celestina Warbeck and the Banshees have a festive show prepared for the season.

The"Magic of Christmas" Comes Alive at Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Throughout the lands, you’ll find seasonal merchandise alongside the usual Wizarding supplies. If your Christmas list includes Fizzing Whizzbees, Chocolate Frogs or Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans, you’ll be able to pick them up at Honeydukes. If you’re more of a Puking Pasties person, well…you’ll just have to head over to Weasleys Wizarding Wheezes for those.

The"Magic of Christmas" Comes Alive at Wizarding World of Harry Potter

It appears Knockturn Alley has even gotten into the holiday spirit! Death Eaters need to buy Christmas gifts too, we guess.

Hogwarts

Each evening during the season, Hogwarts comes alive for a dazzling spectacle of lights, music and even a specter or two. The “Magic of Christmas” show is incredible and truly has to be seen to be believed. Check out the video below to see what I mean

The Grand Floridian is All Decorated for Christmas

Grand Floridian Christmas Decor

Grand Floridian Decorations The Grand Floridian has once again donned its festive best for the Holiday Season. In true Grand Floridan style, the Christmas decor is full of opulence and sophistication with glittering golds and deep mauves. Elegant swans also feature prominently. The true centerpiece though is the glorious Christmas Tree in the center of the lobby.

Towering Christmas tree

This tree is simply stunning. At 40 feet tall it towers over the Grand Floridians lobby. It is immaculately decorated with thousands of thinking lights, ornaments, and bows. The color scheme ties into the rest of the decor of the resort giving the whole thing a polished look that exudes sophistication.

New Giraffe Calf at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Needs A Name

New Giraffe Calf at Disney's Animal Kingdom Needs A Name

Disney’s Animal Kingdom needs your help! In October an adorable female Masai giraffe calf was born but there’s one problem… she doesn’t have a name yet!

New Giraffe Calf at Disney's Animal Kingdom Needs A Name

The proud parents, Kenya and George, were paired together as a part of the Species Survival Plan by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The team at the Association of Zoos and Aquariums oversees the responsible breeding of endangered or threatened species.

This new calf will be joining the rest of the giraffe family, including 4-month-old baby giraffe Aella, at Disney’s Animal Kingdom and will be spotted in the Savanna portion of the Kilomanjaro Safari before the end of the year. We can’t wait to see this soon-to-be named giraffe calf up and about in the habitat.

See the potential name list for the not-yet-named giraffe calf in the video below!

YouTube player

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Cast Members are asking for Disney guests and fans to help them chose a name for the calf. The choices are:

  • Dafina (Treasure)
  • Milima (Mountain)
  • Amira (Princess)
  • Naima (Graceful)

These lovely names are based off words in Swahili, much like the other animals who are named at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. They all sound so great, I wonder which one will win!

You can cast your vote HERE.

New Giraffe Calf at Disney's Animal Kingdom Needs A Name

Disney is all for helping with animal conservation and these births are very exciting results towards this effort. Masai giraffes are considered a vulnerable species due to high poaching and habitat loss. They can primarily be found in Tanzania and Kenya. It is speculated that there are approximately 32,000 Masai giraffes in the wild.

Disney plans to share the results of the name choice relatively soon so be sure to cast your vote before it’s too late. You can do so by visiting this link, CLICK HERE, and clicking on the image with your name choice.

Congratulations to Kenya and George, and the entire cast at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, on the birth of this beautiful baby girl!

Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort to Open in July

Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort to Open in July

Gran Destino Tower at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort will be opening of July 2019 and they just announced you can book rooms starting November 27th! We brought you the details on the new resort and its progress throughout the build. Now we are excited to see that they have allowed guests to begin booking at the resort. I know this was a much needed and anticipated resort upgrade.

With Disney’s ongoing effort to create unique and amazing experiences for guests staying on property, their Coronado Springs Resort (along with many others) has been undergoing refurbishment and construction for quite some time. There finally seems to be some light at the end of the tunnel as Disney Parks announced today that their new Gran Destino Tower at Coronado Springs will be taking reservations and on track to open July of 2019! The 15-story tower will not only stand as the highlighted feature of the newly renovated resort, but it will also serve as the main entrance for guests who are visiting.

Gran Destino Tower will contribute 545 new guest rooms, 50 of which are suites, as well as include a themed restaurant on the top level. It will feature a magnificent 2-story lobby trimmed with classic Spanish themes praising explorers, writers, artists, and architects. The Spanish influences will be felt entirely through the new building and renovated rooms.

Disney Parks, Experiences and Consumer Products Chairman, Bob Chapek also announced that the 1800 existing rooms have been entirely completed in refurbishment. This includes new fixtures, furniture, and lighting in each room! In addition to the completion of refurbished rooms and the new tower, a second restaurant will be available to guests. It will sit on the island centered in Lago Dorado. New walkways have also been established over the lake to make dining at the island accessible to all guests no matter where they may be roomed.

Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant Serving Thanksgiving Eats – Review

Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant Now Serving Thanksgiving Eats

Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant Now Serving Thanksgiving Eats

The Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom is now serving Thanksgiving eats.  My toddler and I hopped in our spacecraft and headed over to Tomorrowland Terrace to have a Thanksgiving feast that was out of this world!

Thanksgiving Dinner – $15.99 (adult)/ $8.99 (child)

Even in Tomorrowland, you can find a delicious spread for Thanksgiving.  For the dinner special, roast turkey is piled high with house-made stuffing, Yukon gold mashed potatoes, green beans and covered in turkey gravy with a side of cranberry sauce.  I was pleasantly surprised by how yummy it was. The turkey was juicy and sliced thick plus with the gravy – YUM! Also, I really loved the spices in the stuffing because no one likes bland stuffing.

Roasted Turkey BLT Sandwich – $12.99

This is the ultimate roast turkey sandwich!  That thickly sliced roast turkey is topped with melty gouda cheese, bacon, lettuce and tomato with a slather of chipotle garlic aioli all on a fresh roll.  This sandwich is “gouda” and with that special aioli – two thumbs way up! The sandwich is massive, so it is definitely big enough to share.  Also, you choose your side either french fries or apple slices.  The toddler wanted fries, so that is what we picked!

Pumpkin Pie Slushy – $5.95

Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant Now Serving Thanksgiving Eats

In a nutshell, liquid pumpkin pie! I do not know how they do it, but this is your classic post-turkey dessert in a cup. Then to top it off, they add whip cream and the cutest maple leaf sugar cookie.  The cookie actually reminded me of when I was little, and my mom would make pie crust cookies when she baked her pumpkin pies.  But seriously, treat yo’self and DRINK THIS!

Pumpkin Pie Tart – $4.79 or 1 Snack Credit

I like to think I am a pumpkin pie aficionado, and every good pie starts with the crust.  The crust was not soggy at all. It was great.  The filling was evenly spiced and everything nice with that dollop of whip cream on top.  This is an awesome holiday use of a snack credit on the Disney Dining Plan.

Overall Thoughts

Forget about the stress of holiday cooking this year! The Tomorrowland Terrace in the Magic Kingdom is the place to be this turkey day.  The food is scrumptious, and you can not beat the prices!  Are you dining at Disney World this Thanksgiving? Post in the comments below.  Stay hungry Disney friends!

SKYLINER UPDATE: Skyliner Will Not Have Air Conditioning

Skyliner

Skyliner

This past week at D23 Destination D felt a little like Christmas for us die hard Disney fans! We learned so many great things-, especially about the Skyliner!  Over the course of the event, Disney announced a few new details about the upcoming Skyliner gondolas. The most exciting news was that the Skyliner will open sometime in Fall 2019. We even got an up close and personal look at the gondolas themselves!

Since the Skyliners announcement at 2017’s D23 Expo, there has been much speculation as to just how exactly the gondolas would be cooled. Disney recently announced that the gondolas will not have A/C. Not to worry though- the gondolas WILL feature a passive cooling system so it isn’t as though this announcement means we will be stuck in metal boxes in the sky with no relief from the Florida heat. Though Disney has not confirmed just how the passive cooling system will work, the Orlando Sentinel is reporting that this will consist of cross-flow ventilation for air flow and reflective windows to prevent direct sunlight.

When completed, this brand new mode of transportation will connect guests to Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Carribean Beach Resort, (the soon to open) Rivera Resort,  Art of Animation Resort, and Pop Century Resort. This new transportation method will do wonders to alleviate heavy bus traffic to those resorts while offering a fun, new way to experience Walt Disney World Resort while will giving guests a bird’s eye view of the resort.

Stay tuned, if Disney provides any new details about the passive ventilation system will be sure to bring you all of the details.

If you want to experience the ease of a vacation where the driving can leave to Disney, contact me today by filling out the form below or by email at [email protected].
