Grandmother who was arrested for bringing CBD oil into the Magic Kingdom files lawsuit

Last week we reported how a 69-year-old grandmother was arrested for attempting to bring CBD oil into the Magic Kingdom which she obtained legally in North Carolina.

Hester Burkhalter was on vacation from North Carolina when Orange County deputies found the CBD Oil in her bag and detained her. She was arrested and jailed for 12 hours before the charges were dropped.

Hester states that the CBD was recommended from her doctor back in North Carolina for arthritis but after testing the bottle it was determined to contained THC. She was charged was trespassing and possession of hashish which has a $2,000 fine and considered a felony.

Burkhalter hired Florida civil rights attorney Ben Crump and co-counsel Michele Rayner to represent her.

Crump states that Burkhalter endured illegal detention, false arrest and a violation of her civil rights according to My News 13.

“While Ms. Burkhalter’s charges have since been dropped, her family’s dream vacation will always be remembered as a nightmare complete with 12 hours detained in jail after this false arrest,” the attorneys said in a statement. “We expect better from Walt Disney World and demand a public apology while we pursue all avenues for justice for her.”

“Deputies are responsible for enforcing Florida law and Orange County ordinances,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. “Although CBD oil is illegal without a prescription, our top drug enforcement priority and focus at the Orange County Sheriff’s Office is to get deadly drugs, like heroin and fentanyl, off the streets of our community.”

“The arrest is a law enforcement matter and Ms. Burkhalter’s Walt Disney World trespass charge has been lifted,” said a spokesperson for Walt Disney World.

The Sheriff’s Office legal counsel sent out an email to the agency late last month over the questions surrounding CBD oil.

“Because of the confusion surrounding CBD, deputies are encouraged to consult on-call Narcotics or Legal prior to effectuating an arrest or seizing CBD,” the email stated.

The email also states that Deputies will also receive additional training on the issue.

Another cupcake is gracing our presence! This time we have our eyes on the Banana Split Cupcake, which we spotted at Disney’s All Star Movies Resort! If you are a banana split lover, you will want to get your hands on one of these bad boys!

Found at the Rialto food court at Disney’s All Star Movies Resort, this cupcake is practically perfect for your taste buds. I mean look at this cute little cupcake, it looks exactly like a sundae! This cupcake is topped with three layers of buttercream frosting. The best part, this isn’t your ordinary buttercream. The Disney pastry chefs even made the frosting taste like chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry! How cool is that!

The buttercream of the Banana split cupcake is sitting atop a yellow cake base with a banana filling! Sounds so good!! Of course, no banana split is complete without the cherry on top and with maybe some edible glitter to add to the flare if you’re lucky.

The Banana Split cupcake can be found at the Rialto food court for $5.49 or a dining plan snack credit. That’s a good use of a credit if you ask me! Word on the street is these cupcakes are to die for! Go ahead and give it a try!

Disney is taking full control over Hulu

Disney and Comcast have just announced a new deal which Disney will assume full control of Hulu, that goes into place today. In the next five years, Comcast has agreed to sell its stake in Hulu to Disney for at least $9.2 billion.

The two companies are entering into what is called a “put/call” agreement, which means that there is a five-year tentative contract in place, then as early as 2024, Comcast can require Disney to purchase NBCUniversal’s 33% ownership stake. Likewise, at that time, or Disney could require NBCUniversal to sell their stake at fair market value.

According to Comicbook another big piece of this puzzle is the streaming rights to all of NBCUniversal’s content. In addition to the agreement, Comcast has agreed to stream all of NBCUniversal’s content on Hulu until that 2024 time period.

No word on what that means for Disney’s new streaming service Disney+. Maybe we will see an option to add their service to Hulu when it releases later this fall.

Staying at a Disney Resort is pretty exciting in and of itself. If you’re a fan of Pop Centuryy, or just want to commemorate that you stayed there, there are lots of colorful new options to bring home. If you’re the planning type like me you can check out some photos of the new Pop Century Merchandise available now at Everything POP below.

You can find all of these colorful items located on a fixture in the middle of the shop side before entering the food court area.

T-shirts are always a popular souvenir. I love how this season’s tee is a fun blue tie-dye! It really captures the vibe of the resort I feel.

Remember your home away from home when ever you take a sip with drinkware featuring Pop Century. There is a tie-dye travel mug available that matches the fun new t-shirt. You can also stay hydrated on the go with the sporty pop art water bottle. Or, if you’re looking for something for the home, there are even glasses available with the classic logo.

I am a big fan of magnets! Disney magnets are always really strong too, so they are great for putting pictures of my vacation on the fridge. There is a classic logo magnet available, as well as a pop art styled one. The pop art style is super cute, I think I might have to add it to my wishlist!

The same styles are also available as Disney Trading Pins! I actually collect a pin each time I stay at a Disney Resort, so it’s great to see new updates like the pop art style.

The tie-dye style is also showcased in a beautiful ceramic ornament souvenir. The Mickey shaped ceramic ornaments have become quote popular for commemorating places, events, and holidays at the Disney Parks.

Of course if you always want to carry a piece of Pop Century with you, the key chains are the way to go. There are two key chains available one in the classic logo, and the other in the new pop art style. The classic logo is a colorful rubber key chain, while the pop art one is a silver metal key chain.

Now the Rubik’s Cube is not necessarily Pop Century branded, but it does fit right in with the theme. You can find a Disney Theme Park edition Rubik’s cube with all of the fun Pop Century souvenirs. I think it’s the perfect home for it considering the giant Rubik’s Cube you can find at the resort.

Disneyland Paris Broadcasting Behind the Scenes of the Lion King and Jungle Festival!

Disneyland Paris will be broadcasting an exclusive behind the scenes of the Lion King and Jungle Festival on the 25th May. To celebrate Disneyland Paris bringing to life two Disney masterpieces, known as the Lion King and Jungle Festival from 30th June to 22nd September.

Disneyland Paris is capturing a special documentary that goes behind the scenes of the highly anticipated season. The broadcast will start with the initial development and creation of the season concept, all the way to the day of opening. The special documentary will include how the shows are created, the recording of music, artists’ rehearsals, set and costume design, development of merchandise and food and beverage, plus a whole lot more. Broadcasts begin on May 25th through official Disneyland Paris media platforms. Disneyland Paris offers a first peek from today with a trailer full of images never seen before:

This will be the first of its kind, official production from the Disneyland Paris team, giving viewers the opportunity to take a peek behind-the-scenes of the Disney magic. It will be broadcast at a number of key points – throughout production – on official Disneyland Paris media platforms.

Angelina Jolie is back to reprise her role as the “Mistress of Evil” in the sequel to the global box-office hit Maleficent. The new teaser trailer for “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” has dropped today and gives you a better glimpse into the dark world of the fairy. The previous 2014 film was a live-action adaptation of the animated “Sleeping Beauty” bringing you a look into the sad tale of Maleficent and how she grew into her “evil” persona.

Mickey’s Of Hollywood Closing For Refurbishment At Disney’s Hollywood Studios

One of the shops at Disney’s Hollywood Studios will be getting some work done to it in the very near future. Mickey’s of Hollywood which is the 1920s to 1940s themed shop located on Hollywood Boulevard will be closing for a lengthy refurbishment starting tomorrow, May 14, 2019. Guests visiting this shop were able to time travel back to the Golden Age of Hollywood and purchase the perfect keepsakes and Mickey Mouse mementos.

As reported by Orlando Theme Park News, the shop will be closed for refurbishment through September. The refurbishment will be quite an undertaking. The shop will be getting a new floor layout, merchandise fixtures, new lights and more! Once the shop reopens, an enhanced Guest experience will go hand in hand with the much of the currently featured merchandise items that Guests adore.

2019 is an important year for Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Not only will Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge be opening later this summer, but it is also the 30^th anniversary of the theme park. There has been much work being performed to ensure it is in tip-top shape. A new bus transportation loading area, similar to the one at Magic Kingdom Park, was recently completed. The Disney Skyliner, the new gondola system, has also been constructed as another transportation option to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Disneyland’s Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run Video Released

The Disneyland Resort shared an exciting video for all the Star Wars fans out there today! The video is a 360 view of the chess room inside the Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run queue. You’ll be able to fly this iconic ship in the cockpit on a interactive mission during a daring flight. Don’t worry if you aren’t the pilot because every role is highly needed during this flight. The details of this attraction look incredible just from this small clip and we can’t wait to ride it! While you are waiting in line, you’ll be able to order food, play the Disney Parks App and go to the restroom which will make the wait feel even shorter.

Starting May 31st at the Disneyland Resort, you can climb on-board this legendary ship! If you plan on attending between May 31st and June 23rd, make sure you reserve your Star War Galaxy’s Edge tickets in advance as they will only let you in if you have a ticket due to the high demand there will be. If you plan on staying onsite, you will be given a designated reservation per guest at a specific date and time when you receive your hotel registration confirmation.

Florida man with gun and 2 magazines caught at Disney World bag check

According to an Orange County arrest affidavit, a 29-year-old man from Daytona Beach was caught at the Transportation and Ticket Center in Walt Disney World with a gun and 2 magazines in his backpack.

The Florida man was charged with carrying a concealed firearm according to Click Orlando.

Terry Bruce attempted to bring his 9mm gun with him to the parks instead of leaving the gun in his car where he usually kept it according to the court document. He states he forgot it was in his bag…

“When we found the weapon, we engaged law enforcement. The arrest is a law enforcement matter,” a Disney spokesperson said.

Disney World Park Rules outline prohibited items including firearms and weapons of any kind.
