“Lilo & Stitch” Live-Action Film Becomes 2025’s Highest-Grossing Movie
The live-action remake of “Lilo & Stitch” is continuing its impressive run at the box office, having just surpassed “A Minecraft Movie” to claim the title of the highest-grossing film of 2025 worldwide.
According to new figures from Deadline, the live-action “Lilo & Stitch” has just soared past $957.6 million worldwide, with an impressive $553.9 million from international markets. These numbers put it ahead of Warner Bros. and Legendary’s “A Minecraft Movie,” which previously held the top spot with $954.9 million worldwide and $530.9 million internationally. However, “A Minecraft Movie” still leads the 2025 domestic box office, having grossed $423.9 million in the U.S.
“Lilo & Stitch” and “A Minecraft Movie” are currently the only two films in 2025 to have surpassed the $900 million mark globally. With its current momentum, “Lilo & Stitch” is still projected to be the first movie of 2025 to reach $1 billion worldwide.
“Lilo & Stitch” is still early in its theatrical run, having premiered on May 23rd and now in its sixth week at the box office. The film’s immense popularity fueled 2025’s biggest Memorial Day weekend in history for movie theaters. Dean Fleischer Camp, the director, has addressed these changes, stating that Captain Gantu “just didn’t work so well in live action” and explaining the ending by saying, “People do get left behind.” Unsurprisingly, given the film’s financial triumph, Disney has already announced that a live-action sequel, “Lilo & Stitch 2,” is in development.

Universal Studios Great Britain Will Skip Nightly FireworksโBut Drones May Light Up the Skies
Looks like the skies over Bedford will be buzzing โ just not with fireworks. ๐งจโ
New documents filed as part of Universal Studios Great Britainโs planning application reveal that the upcoming theme park wonโt feature a nightly fireworks show. Instead, the resort will likely lean into drone shows as its primary form of nighttime entertainment, adding a high-tech twist to the traditional theme park spectacular.
According to the filing submitted to the UKโs Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, Universal plans to limit fireworks to no more than 10 shows per year, primarily for special events like Chinese New Year, Bonfire Night (November 5), Diwali, and New Yearโs Eve. These would be the only occasions fireworks could light up the sky, and some may even take place after 11 p.m., with proper permissions.
The documents also outline strict guidelines for on-site pyrotechnic storage. Fireworks will be classified under Hazard Type 4, with a max capacity of 4,000 kg. Safety is the name of the game.
Enter: The Drones
While fireworks are getting the limited-run treatment, the real stars of the show might be the drones. Although details are still under wraps, the planning request includes technical specs and safety requirements for drone operation, including minimum clearances from buildings and show areas, hinting that a drone-based nighttime show is firmly in the works.

While official theme lands havenโt been confirmed, speculation is sky-high with rumored IPs including James Bond, Paddington Bear, and The Lord of the Rings. Universal has also trademarked Halloween Horror Nights in the UK, suggesting that spooky season will get a big transatlantic upgrade.
With construction set to begin next year, and planning documents now surfacing, the future is looking bold, immersive, and โ thanks to drones โ incredibly precise.

Calling all recruits: Star Command is officially under renovation! Disneyland Paris has temporarily shuttered the beloved Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast attraction in Discoveryland for a major refurbishment project thatโs set to last through the end of 2025. But fear not, Space Rangers โ this mission aims to bring the ride back brighter, sharper, and more interactive than ever before.
In a project led by Walt Disney Imagineering Paris, in collaboration with Maintenance and Central Workshops, the interactive dark ride is receiving top-to-bottom upgrades across nearly every inch of the experience. From a revamped exterior to upgraded blasters and Audio-Animatronics, Buzz Lightyear Laser Blast is being refitted for hyperspace.
Hereโs Whatโs Getting a Space-Age Tune-Up:
Fresh Look for Star Command HQ The attractionโs iconic faรงade โ brimming with radar dishes, glowing energy towers, and that unmistakable retro-futuristic Star Command aesthetic โ will be completely repainted. The almost two-meter-tall Buzz Lightyear statue outside is also set to get a fresh coat of paint, and the neon lighting on the five towers and radar dishes will be replaced for a bolder, more vibrant nighttime glow.
Upgraded XP-41 Space Cruisers Your ride vehicle, aka your Space Cruiser, is getting a serious upgrade. Expect new dashboards with improved displays and a crisp new paint job. More importantly, all Astro Blasters (aka your laser guns) will be fully dismantled and replaced, promising sharper aim and better performance in your battle against the Evil Emperor Zurg.
Enhanced Lighting & Effects The attractionโs interior will also shine a little brighter: all spotlights will be replaced, and special lighting effects refurbished, breathing new life into every scene of the interstellar adventure. Targets throughout the ride โ your ticket to racking up those all-important points โ are also getting upgrades for greater precision and responsiveness.
Animatronic Enhancements The Audio-Animatronics throughout the attraction will receive much-needed TLC, with refurbishments planned across several characters to restore them to their original glory (and maybe even beyond!).
This is shaping up to be the most significant refurbishment in Buzz Lightyear Laser Blastโs history at Disneyland Paris. While the attraction will be missed over the coming months, fans can look forward to an enhanced mission experience with better tech, improved visuals, and a polished presentation when it returns by the end of next year.

Princess Tiana’s “Joyful Celebration” Traveling Exhibit Kicks Off in 2026
Get ready to continue the celebration with Princess Tiana beyond the parks! Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) has announced Tiana’s Joyful Celebration, a brand new, fully immersive traveling exhibition created in collaboration with The Childrenโs Museum of Indianapolis. Kicking off on March 7, 2026, at The Childrenโs Museum of Indianapolis, this exhibit will then embark on a nationwide tour starting in 2027, bringing Princess Tiana’s inspiring story to 12 additional cities.
The Tianaโs Bayou Adventure attraction launched at both Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort last year. In the spirit of the attraction, the exhibition will take visitors on a journey where they discover a series of fun, interactive, multi-sensory experiences inspired by the music, food and people of New Orleans.
In this magical adventure, Princess Tiana is celebrating her community by throwing a parade. Tianaโs friends, critters included, have been working hard in Tianaโs childhood neighborhood to prepare for the big day. But when the day arrives, they learn that their timeslot begins earlier than anticipated and need the entire community and critter friends to put the finishing touches on the floats to make it in time.
Guests will receive a call for assistance, learning Tiana needs help with dรฉcor, music, food, costumes and more. Everyone must come together and contribute their unique talentsโa bit of their special spiceโ to pull the parade together on time. From music and crafts to cooking and community spirit, youโll be immersed in the diverse and vibrant world of New Orleansโ Mardi Gras celebrations as you help Princess Tiana.
