New, Magnificent Mosaics Debuts at Disney’s Riviera Resort

New Mosaic Art Debuts at Disney’s Riviera Resort

New, magnificent mosaics have been revealed at the Riviera Resort

The newest member of the Walt Disney World Resort family, the Riviera Resort, is opening this month. The Riviera Resort is a Disney Vacation Club property set to open on December 16th.

Guests are getting excited as tidbits and details regarding the resort are being revealed.

Disney recently showcased the first look at a walkway tunned at the resort. The tunnel features two amazing mosaic murals. They also revealed that one of the magnificent mosaics is a scene of Peter Pan, Wendy, Michael, and John flying off to Never Land from London at night.

The second mural will feature…drumroll please… Rapunzel’s floating lanterns from “Tangled”! Can anyone else head “I See The Light” in their heads?

New, Magnificent Mosaics Debuts at Disney’s Riviera Resort

The floating lanterns are already a beloved spot in Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom. The new mural at Disney’s Riviera Resort will make the perfect picture spot.

The two murals are connected by the aspect of “flight”. Both the Peter Pan mural and Rapunzel’s floating lanterns represent and celebrate flying. This symbol of flight fits perfectly with the fact that this tunnel is the gateway to the Skyliner at the resort.

Over 1 million hand-cut tiles were laid individually to create this gorgeous piece of art. The mural stands at 20 feet tall and flows right into a mosaic sky ceiling. Disney shares that this set of murals is just the beginning of all the amazing details at the Riviera Resort you will get to experience.

Who’s booking their trip now!?

Baby Yoda Plush Arriving With Cuteness This Spring

The Force is strong with the power of “Baby Yoda”‘s cuteness. Ever since that lovable green alien made his debut on The Mandalorian, we have been wanting more! The time will soon be upon us, because we can now pre-order a Baby Yoda Plush from shopDisney!

Baby Yoda Plush Arriving With Cuteness This Spring

The website for shopDisney has posted a pre-order for an adorable “The Child” plush from Mattel. The listing states that it should ship by April 1st. That means soon we will be able to fully embrace the cuteness of this Yoda species alien as an adorable 11” plush toy. The website refers to this lovable creature as the Child, but I have a feeling we’ll keep calling it Baby Yoda till it gets a real name.

Baby Yoda Plush Arriving With Cuteness This Spring

The listing makes sure to warn us that this is just concept art, and the actual plush toy may differ slightly at launch. It will be a small, plush figure with an authentic character likeness to resemble a ”Baby Yoda”.  We will get to take on the role of The Mandalorian Bounty Hunter, and care for this cute baby alien on our own too! The packaging will even resemble the space crib from the show. The toy will have a soft body, with a sturdy bean filled base, and a sculpted vinyl head. While he will be wearing flowing fabric robes, these will not be removable.

The Baby Yoda Plush can be pre-ordered HERE, and retails for $24.99. Will you be adding one of these cuddly toys to your collection?

First Look: Star Wars Rise of the Resistance

Opening Dec. 5, 2019, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Florida and Jan. 17, 2020, at Disneyland Park in Anaheim, California, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance sets a new standard for what a Disney theme park experience can be, as guests become heroes of the Resistance in a climactic battle with the First Order.

In one of the most immersive, ambitious and technologically advanced attractions ever created for a Disney park, guests launch into space aboard a transport shuttle, only to be captured by a Star Destroyer and pursued by Supreme Leader Kylo Ren as they frantically search for a way to escape the clutches of the First Order.

*Spoiler Alert!: This post contains major spoilers for the new Disney Parks attraction Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.

Join the Resistance

  • Guests exploring Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge find the Resistance’s temporary encampment in the forested area along the outskirts of Black Spire Outpost on Batuu.
  • The gateway to the encampment is marked by a large turret. From there, a pathway leads deeper into the forest toward towering cliffs and the crumbling remains of an ancient civilization. Guests weave through low stone walls, timeworn pillars and tight corridors as they progress farther into the base, hearing military communications chatter along the way.
  • In a makeshift briefing room, Rey – a hero of the cause – appears via holo-transmission alongside dutiful droid BB-8 to welcome the new Resistance recruits. She shares a plan to reunite with General Leia Organa at an off-planet location that must be kept secret from the First Order.
  • Guests then board a nearby Intersystem Transport Ship (I-TS) and have to make their rendezvous quickly to avoid a First Order Star Destroyer on its way to Batuu. They should have a bad feeling about this …

First Look: Star Wars Rise of the Resistance

An All-Encompassing Attraction Experience

  • Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance throws out the rulebook for traditional attraction design, eschewing and/or blending industry notions such as “queue,” “preshow” and “ride” to create a seamless, holistic experience full of rich details and breathtaking excitement on a cinematic scale.
  • When guests board the I-TS, they’ll feel as if they’re lifting off the surface of Batuu and blasting into space alongside Poe Dameron in his signature black-painted X-wing starfighter, Black One.
  • Before the I-TS can make the jump to lightspeed, it’s caught in the tractor beam of a Star Destroyer and pulled into a massive hangar bay.
  • Guests make their escape from the Star Destroyer aboard eight-passenger First Order Fleet Transports piloted by reprogrammed R5-series astromech droids.
  • The attraction features grand set pieces – including the hangar bay that is filled with 50 menacing stormtroopers and a docked TIE fighter. At various points, guests dodge blaster bolts from stormtroopers and AT-AT walkers, scurry past huge turbolaser cannons, and stumble into the Star Destroyer’s bridge.
  • Throughout their journey, guests are hunted by Kylo Ren, who uses the Force in an attempt to pry from their minds the location of General Organa’s secret base. Guests feel Ren’s tremendous malevolent power as they narrowly avoid his attacks.

Authentically Star Wars

  • Actors from the current Star Wars film trilogy reprise their roles for new scenes and dialogue in Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, including Daisy Ridley (Rey), Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), John Boyega (Finn), Oscar Isaac (Poe Dameron) and Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux). Many scenes were filmed at the same time “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” and “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” were in production.
  • Poe Dameron’s X-wing is one of several vehicles from the Star Wars galaxy appearing in the attraction.
  • Disney cast members adopt personalities of First Order and Resistance troops throughout the attraction to further deepen the immersive experience for guests.
  • Walt Disney Imagineering worked hand in hand with Lucasfilm in writing the attraction’s script, ensuring characters and storylines were properly integrated into the broader Star Wars
  • The attraction introduces a new featured character: Lieutenant Bek is a Mon Calamari Resistance officer who helps guide the Resistance recruits through their harrowing journey.

Cutting-Edge Technology Powers Immersive Storytelling

  • Walt Disney Imagineering combined multiple ride systems to tell the story of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. In one sequence, a new simulator experience gives the sensation of falling from space to crash land on Batuu.
  • The trackless ride vehicles in Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance are some of the most advanced ever used in a Disney attraction, with a sleek, low profile and the ability to move in all directions.
  • Disney A-1000 Audio-Animatronicsfigures appearing in the attraction provide a deep level of immersive storytelling through their lifelike and dynamic movements.
  • To fully realize this Star Wars story, Imagineers created thousands of special effects, from slashing lightsabers and whizzing blaster bolts to exploding walls and massive star fields – just to name a few.

We will be posting a full video of the attraction later, but for now, get a closer look at the cue line for  Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance with us here:

Three New Films to Appear at Epcot in January 2020

Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along

Epcot is bursting with new experiences and upcoming attractions in 2020. Of all the parks, it seems to be the one undergoing the most change at the moment. Some of those changes involve films, a welcome bit of news for those who like to escape the crowds and heat in a dark theatre!

The first day of the Epcot International Festival of the Arts, January 17th, 2020, will also be the day that all three new films debut.

Three New Films to Appear at Epcot in January 2020

The first of these is the ”Beauty and the Beast” sing-along in the France Pavilion. Film fans will want to see this take on their old favorite, narrated by Angela Lansbury, the original Mrs. Potts, and directed and produced by Don Hahn, who was a producer of both the animated and live-action versions of ”Beauty and the Beast.” This will not replace ”Impressions de France, ” which is receiving a 4K upgrade, but will instead run in rotation with it.

Another new film is ”Awesome Planet” in the Land pavilion. This 10-minute adventure will demonstrate the beauty of the earth with stunning visuals, in-theatre effects, and of course original music by Academy Award-winning composer Steven Price. A perfect addition to the pavilion that boasts about the natural wonders of our planet.

The last, but not least, adding to Epcot’s line of screen entertainment is ”Canada Far and Wide, ” coming to replace ”O Canada” in – you guessed it – the Canada pavilion. This film will use a musical score by Canadian composer Andrew Lockington and narration by award-winning actors Catherine O’Hara and Eugene Levy.

It looks like it’s time to invest in a popcorn bucket and get ready for some serious theatre-time at Epcot. Which film will be the first you see?
