The theme parks at the Disneyland Resort are reopening on April 30, 2021. When the parks reopen, guests will be allowed to park hop between Disneyland and Disney California Adventure.
According to Disney, “Guests with Park Hopper tickets may choose, pending availability, which theme park to start their day, when making their theme park reservations, and then will be able to visit the other park beginning at 1 p.m. that day. Guests with multi-day tickets will be required to make a separate park reservation for each day they plan to visit the theme parks.”
Similar to Walt Disney World park hopping, guests wanting to park hop at Disneyland will need to make a park reservation for their first park and then they can hop to the other park at 1 pm so long as there is availability at that park.

Disneyland and Disney California Adventure will be reopening on April 30. Even though the parks will reopen, not all attractions and experiences will be available right away. Take a look at the rides, attractions, and restaurants that will remain closed when the parks reopen later this month.
Scripps National Spelling Bee returns this year with top spellers from across the U.S. and the globe gathering near Orlando, Florida, on July 8 to compete in the nationally televised event.
The final rounds of this year’s Bee will be hosted in person at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort. The finals, featuring 10-12 accomplished spellers, will be broadcast live in primetime on ESPN2.
The 10 to 12 finalists who will travel to Orlando will have earned the right to compete in the finals by advancing through three levels of virtual competition: the preliminary, quarterfinal, and semifinal segments.
The competition is set to begin virtually with the preliminary rounds on June 8, 2021. Concluding with the semifinals on June 27, 2021
“It will be an excitement-building sequence for the spellers and the audiences watching at home as the action and suspense of ‘speller versus the dictionary’ plays out over several weeks of the competition this year,” said Dr. J. Michael Durnil, executive director of the Bee. “Last year was challenging for so many as we learned to cope with the pandemic. Now, as pandemic guidelines across the country continue to evolve, we’ve charted a path for the 2021 competition and national finals activities by taking enhanced health and safety measures for the spellers, their families, and the team of people who support and produce the Bee.”
2021 Scripps National Spelling Bee will be the first event since the NBA Finals in October of 2020. The Lakers defeated the Heat 4-2 in a best of seven series.
If the current COVID-19 trend holds, the state will move away from its color-coded tier system that regulates closures and openings. The state also said “everyday activities” will be allowed to resume and businesses can reopen with “common-sense risk reduction measures,” such as wearing masks.
Newsom said the mask mandate will remain in place. “This disease is as deadly as it’s ever been. The only thing that we have done is suppress the spread because of the number of vaccines that have been administered and because of mask wearing,” Newsom said.
Vaccine supply is sufficient for residents 16 years and older who wish to be inoculated
Hospitalization rates are low and stable
There aren’t anymore specific details on what reopening California fully will mean. The California Department of Public Health will continue to monitor COVID-19 cases a nd reserves the right to move the June 15 opening date if necessary.
The theme parks at the Disneyland Resort are reopening on April 30 and more information regarding that opening was released today! Take a look at the park hours for opening day.
Disneyland and Disney California Adventure will both be open from 9 am to 7 pm. Downtown Disney will be open from 10 am to 8 pm.
Disneyland and Disney California Adventure are opening at the end of the month. The theme park reservation system will launch on April 12 and park tickets will be available to purchase on April 15. When the parks reopen, not all attractions will be open. Take a look at what rides and attractions will be available when the parks open.

It’s National Caramel Popcorn Day and what better way to celebrate it than with some Caramel Popcorn just like the one you will find at Disney Parks!
When we are at Disney World, the place to get this delicious treat is definitely the German Pavilion at Epcot! They are sweet and crunchy and just the perfect snack to have while you walk around the World Showcase.
Preheat oven to 225F. Line 2 large baking sheets with silicone baking mat. (If you only have one silicone mat, you can line the second baking mat with parchment paper, a silicone baking mat has the best baking results for this recipe).
Use an air popper to pop your popcorn to avoid adding extra oil to the recipe.
Spread popped popcorn evenly across one sheet, then set aside.
In a saucepan over medium hear, combine the butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup.
Whisk the mixture constantly until butter has melted and brown sugar has dissolved, about 3-5 minutes.
While continuing to whisk, add the vanilla, salt and baking soda into the caramel. The baking soda will cause some bubbling.
Remove saucepan from heat once the caramel has thickened and takes on a lighter, fluffier texture, about 1-2 minutes.
Pour caramel over popcorn and (working quickly) use a spatula to toss popcorn to coat fully.
Place caramel popcorn in the oven and bake for 3 or 4 fifteen minutes intervals, for a total of 45-60 minutes.
At each 15 minute interval, remove the baking sheet from the oven, toss popcorn to coat completely and break up any clumps. At the 45 minute mark gauge if the popcorn is sticky and well coated.
Transfer the baked caramel popcorn to the second baking sheet to cool. Use a spatula to break up any lumps.
If you want a salted caramel popcorn, be sure to sprinkle on a bit of course salt now.
Earlier today we shared the news that guests visiting Walt Disney World would be able to remove Face Masks for outdoor photos starting on April 8th. You can read all about that here.
Also on April 8th guests will be allowed to remove Face Masks for Disney’s Photopass Photos as long as they remain stationary, are socially distanced and are outdoors!
Please note – This Does NOT apply to ride photos. Masks must still be worn on rides at all times.
Great News!
Here is the updated rules for face covering while visiting Walt Disney World:
Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 2 and up) and Cast Members, including those who have received a COVID-19 vaccine. Please bring your own face coverings and wear them at all times, except when dining or swimming. You may temporarily remove your face covering while actively eating, drinking or taking an outdoor photo*, but you must be stationary and maintain appropriate physical distancing during this time. (*Beginning April 8)
All face coverings (whether disposable or reusable) must:
Be made with at least 2 layers of breathable material
Fully cover the nose and mouth and secure under the chin
Fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face
Be secured with ties or ear loops and allow the Guest to remain hands-free
At this time, based on guidance from health authorities, neck gaiters, open-chin triangle bandanas and face coverings containing valves, mesh material or holes of any kind are not acceptable face coverings.
Costume masks are also not considered appropriate and are prohibited from being worn, in alignment with our existing rules.
Face coverings may have an integrated transparent plastic panel to aid in viewing the wearer’s mouth. These face coverings must:
Be a fabric face covering featuring a solid plastic panel containing no openings that is attached to the fabric on all sides using tight knit stitching
Meet all face covering requirements listed above
The use of face coverings is not a substitute for physical distancing.
Magic is finally returning to the Disneyland Resort theme parks as Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure park plan to officially reopen to the public on April 30, with limited capacity.
Today Disney has just shared with us Ticket & Reopening details:
When we reopen our two theme parks, we will have enhanced health and safety measures, and will limit capacity through a new theme park reservation system that requires all guests to obtain a reservation for park entry in advance. Theme park reservations will be available online, in advance only, for a specific date, subject to availability.
Theme Park Reservations: To enter Disneyland park or Disney California Adventure park, both a theme park reservation and valid admission ticket for the same park on the same date are required for guests ages 3 and up. Guests must have a valid theme park admission ticket in order to make a reservation. Theme park reservations will be limited and subject to availability and, until further notice, only California residents may visit the parks, and in groups no larger than 3 households, in line with current state guidelines.
The theme park reservation system will launch on April 12th, and guests with existing valid theme park tickets can begin making park reservations for the days that their ticket is valid. Theme park ticket sales will resume on April 15, and guests without park tickets may begin purchasing tickets and making park reservations. As a reminder, ticket expiration dates were extended for many outstanding tickets. To accommodate as many types of ticket holders as possible, park reservations for select dates may be made available on a rolling basis. Ticket calendars will be updated on a rolling basis. Check for updated availability.
April 9: If you currently hold a theme park ticket, you can check available days for your 1-day ticket type beginning April 9 on Disneyland.com/ParksUpdates.
April 12: The theme park reservation system will open no earlier than 8 a.m. PT on April 12 and guests who already have valid theme park tickets may begin making park reservations.
April 15: Theme park ticket sales will resume no earlier than 8 a.m. PT on April 15, and guests without park tickets may begin purchasing tickets and making park reservations.
Tip: Be sure to log in to your Disney account first to link valid theme park tickets prior to accessing the park reservation system. See how to make a park reservation, below!
Guests with valid theme park admission tickets who are planning a stay at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa will also need to book a theme park reservation, as a hotel stay does not guarantee a theme park reservation. Tip: If you plan to visit the theme parks during your stay, get your theme park reservation prior to making your hotel reservation. For room reservations and travel packages, visit Disneyland.com or contact your travel professional starting April 15 for stays beginning April 29. Theme park reservations will need to be made separately.
Guests with Park Hopper tickets may choose, pending availability, which theme park to start their day, when making their theme park reservations, and then will be able to visit the other park beginning at 1 p.m. that day. Guests with multi-day tickets will be required to make a separate park reservation for each day they plan to visit the theme parks.
Park Hours: Upon reopening, daily park hours for Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure park are currently planned to be 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Visit Disneyland.com for operating hours on the day you wish to visit, as they are subject to change.
Parking: Theme park parking will be available at the Mickey & Friends and Pixar Pals parking structures, located off Disneyland Drive.
Dining: For a contactless and cashless experience, our mobile order service — available exclusively on the Disneyland App* — makes it easy for you to plan ahead, order, and pay for food and beverages at most quick service restaurants inside the theme parks. In order to foster physical distancing during this time, we will plan to reopen dining bookings for select locations on April 22, with limited capacity. You will be able to book your dining reservation 60 days in advance on Disneyland.com or with the Disneyland App, subject to availability. Tip: Be sure to have the latest version of the app downloaded and installed on your mobile device.
Please check Disneyland.com to learn important details about our health and safety measures prior to your arrival, such as the requirement for temperature checks and for all guests, ages 2 and older, to wear an appropriate face covering. We continue to keep the well-being of guests and cast members in the forefront of our planning and look forward to welcoming you back to the Disneyland Resort!
*Message, data and roaming rates may apply. Availability subject to handset limitations, and features may vary by handset, service provider or otherwise. Coverage and app stores not available everywhere. If you’re under 18, get your parents’ permission first.
Per the state guidelines, the name and contact information of each person who purchases a ticket to the parks should be collected for contact tracing purposes. This information must be provided by the ticket purchaser, who will serve as the main contact on behalf of his/her entire party. In addition, at the time a guest purchases park tickets and makes a park reservation, the purchasing guest must confirm that the guest’s party size will not contain more than 3 households and that the guest, and all members of the guest’s party, are California residents, since the guidelines limit theme park attendance to in-state visitors only.
