Tron Lightcycle Run Construction Update for October. The outside of the newest Disney coaster, Tron Lightcycle/ Run, continues to garner the most attention this past few weeks. With no change the Walt Disney World Railroad that will run right underneath the outside track.

We have been riding over the construction in Tomorrowland, on the PeopleMover and checking in regularly for a while now, and although it doesn’t look like it a ton has been done we can assure you that is not the case. New netting has been added below the tracks that run outside. More pathway has been laid, and if you see it during the day you can see it sparkles. Plus the new retaining walls have all been finished and electrical piping has been run to each one.

Spring 2023 cannot come soon enough! Check out the Youtube Video below of our ride on PeopleMover this week.

The Walt Disney Company & Bob Chapek Release a Statement on Hurricane Ian

Here is the statement from the Walt Disney Company.

Our hearts go out to those impacted by Hurricanes lan and Fiona. We are grateful for all first responders who are doing heroic work, and to our employees who helped keep our guests safe. In addition to providing impacted employees with assistance through our relief fund, we are providing support to the American Red Cross, Feeding America, Heart of Florida United Way, and others working on local relief efforts.

While Disney CEO Bob Chapek sent this email to Disney Cast Members.

As we continue to assess the situation in the wake of Hurricane lan, my thoughts are with all those who have been impacted-especially our Disney colleagues and the communities they call home. I also want to acknowledge the amazing Cast Members who are keeping our Guests safe and entertained in a very tough situation, as well as the first responders who are doing heroic work.

On the heels of Hurricane Fiona and as lan continues to do damage, we are supporting important relief efforts on the ground, and directing company resources where they can be most effective.

First and foremost, should you or an employee you know need assistance due to storm damage to your residence, please visit the Disney Employee Relief Fund website to apply.

To help in the recovery effort, we are providing financial assistance above and beyond our annual disaster relief efforts to the American Red Cross, Feeding America, Heart of Florida United Way, and others. We and the American Red Cross are running on-air appeals for public support about both Hurricane lan and Hurricane Fiona, while our ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex is housing emergency response vehicles.

There are sure to be more efforts once the recovery process begins.
Our employees have always been there for each other in times of need-and today is no different. If you would like to support your colleagues, you can do so by contributing to the Disney Employee Relief Fund I mentioned above, or by visiting our Disaster Giving site to donate to organizations supporting the relief efforts. Donations to eligible relief organizations can be matched by the Disney Employee Matching Gifts Program.

I know I speak for the entire Disney family around the world in offering support to our friends and colleagues who have been affected by these storms.

We are keeping everyone in our thoughts, and please stay safe.

Final Show of Disney’s Kite Tails from the Animal Kingdom

Final Show of Disney’s Kite Tails

Final Show of Disney’s Kite Tails from the Animal Kingdom. The above image is fitting. Baloo is flat on his face, feet in the water, chaos erupting as Cast Members rush to secure him before he blows away in the high winds of the oncoming hurricane. What I believe was once a beautiful and family-friendly show, ends like this.

From day one, Kite Tails was not appreciated, liked, or apparently wanted. When the pandemic hit, people were expecting Rivers of Light: We are One to return to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Kite Tails got all the hate for replacing the beloved nighttime show. People also jumped on the bandwagon of trashing how the kite landed, not understanding that was all planned in advance, The larger kites were supposed to land in the seats that were sectioned off from the crowd.

Disney themselves did not help the situation at all by adding in a crashing cartoon sound effect when the large kites landed. They really hurt the show a few months ago when they decided to shorten the show drastically, removing all the fun interaction with the audience, getting rid of the preshow, and then just doing 1 song with 2 or 3 kites total.

We got over to Discovery River Amphitheater on Tuesday, September 27th, the day prior to Disney’s Animal Kingdom closing for 2 days due to Hurricane Ian, and saw what ended up being the final performance of the Jungle Book version of the shortened Kite Tails Show.

You can watch some of the final performance above, and also check out the IG reel of Baloo almost taking us out as it takes off and immediately hits a tree we were next to.

On a serious note, we loved Kite Tails. Yes, it was not the perfect show, but it was great for what it was. The original show held promise, with kids marching along holding up mini turtle kites. The elephants march through the crowd. Sea creatures being waved around, the band on the river jamming along prior to the show starting. Even the ending when the kite would crash down ended up being a fun experience. RIP Disney’s Kite Tails October 1st, 2021 – September 27th, 2022!

SeaWorld San Diego Announces 2023 New Attraction

SeaWorld San Diego Announces 2023 New Attraction

This family-friendly multi-launch ride invites guests to hop on a snowmobile and launch at up to 40 mph on a chilly adventure as they race through the unpredictable arctic climate to help animals in danger. With its 48-inch height requirement, adventure seekers of all ages will enjoy the thrills and chills of Arctic Rescue.

SeaWorld’s coolest new coaster will feature a unique indoor launch station where passengers will start their journey inside of the Wild Arctic exhibit and launch outside straddling a unique snowmobile style vehicle. Guests will race through the Arctic and experience three exhilarating launches, each faster than the last, at 34, 38 and 40 miles per hour. The straddle snowmobile-style seats allow for an immersive ride experience for each rider as they lean into banks and turns and glide up heights as tall as 30 feet along the 2,800 feet of track. Manufactured by Intamin Worldwide, each train will hold 16 riders in eight, two-person rows.

“We’re continuously looking for ways to add new experiences to the park for our guests and this new coaster is a great addition to our ride line-up and a perfect complement to the Wild Arctic exhibit,” said Jim Lake, SeaWorld San Diego Park President. “The ride is also an educational opportunity for guests to learn more about climate change, how it impacts animals in the Arctic and what they can do to help the issue. I truly feel that seeing these animals up-close at SeaWorld allows guests to build a stronger connection and encouragement to take action to help protect them.”

Unpredictable climate fluctuations and global warming is happening in the Arctic three times as fast as the rest of the planet.  As a result, the Arctic sea ice that many animals rely on for survival is melting, threatening the survival of many species and forcing them to change the way they hunt, breed, and migrate. The ride is inspired by the heroic efforts of the SeaWorld Rescue Team and their dedication to rescuing animals in distress and in need of care. Riders will race the unpredictable arctic climate to save these animals in danger. Arctic Rescue is incorporated in the Wild Arctic exhibit which is home to a ringed seal, walruses, and belugas, some of the species most impacted by Arctic sea loss. The new ride will bring awareness to the pressures the Arctic is facing and allow guests to visit, see and learn more about each animal whose species call the Arctic their home.

Arctic Rescue will be the perfect addition for the Coaster Capital of San Diego and SeaWorld’s ever-growing ride portfolio, which includes Journey to Atlantis, Manta, Electric Eel, Tidal Twister and Emperor, voted one of 2022’s top best new attractions in the country by USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice poll. Arctic Rescue will join the park’s famed attractions as a must-do experience for coaster enthusiasts everywhere.

“After conferring with the National Weather Service, airlines, and federal partners, it has been decided that Orlando International Airport will resume passenger flights after 12 pm Friday (9/30/22).
