Orlando International Airport Replacing Key Trams Starting December 3 — Here’s What Travelers Need to Know
If you’ve got a flight coming up at Orlando International Airport, you might want to pack a little extra patience with that neck pillow. MCO just announced a major multiyear update that’s about to shake up how passengers move between the main terminal and several of its busiest gate areas.
Beginning December 3, the airport will kick off its $253 million Gate Link Replacement Project, which will replace the trams that shuttle travelers between Terminal A/B and gates 70–129. That covers big airlines like Delta, Frontier, Southwest, Virgin Atlantic, LATAM, Avelo, and Air Canada, so these changes will affect a huge chunk of MCO flyers.
During construction, each affected airside will operate with only one tram instead of two, meaning longer waits and slower travel times. To keep people moving, MCO will roll out 24/7 shuttle buses, which at times may be the only way to get from your gates to the terminal.
Airport leaders say the project will ultimately create a smoother, faster experience once complete. But in the meantime, travelers should expect delays and plan accordingly. MCO recommends arriving early for all departures and adding an extra 30 minutes if you’re picking up a rental car or using rideshare or ground transportation.
The entire project is expected to wrap in fall 2027, so this is going to be a long-term shift in airport flow.
Disney Debuts Breakthrough Olaf Animatronic in New Imagineering Episode
Disney just dropped a flurry of cool news in the latest installment of We Call It Imagineering, and this one is all about the future of robotics… plus a certain lovable snowman who likes warm hugs. The newest episode takes us inside Walt Disney Imagineering Research & Development, where Imagineers are turning cutting-edge tech into real-world magic at record speed.
The big reveal is Olaf — not just any Olaf, but the first-ever Walt Disney Animation Studios character brought to life through Imagineering’s newest entertainment robotics program. This version of Olaf moves, performs, reacts, and feels like he just stepped out of the animated world and into yours. The team’s breakthrough? Reinforcement learning. Instead of developing animatronics over years, Imagineers can now teach characters to move by putting them through thousands of hours of virtual training in days. That’s a snowball’s-worth of progress in no time.
Olaf’s debut is just the beginning. Guests will soon spot him in the Arendelle Bay show at World of Frozen, the new immersive land coming to Disney Adventure World at Disneyland Paris, as well as in special limited-time appearances at World of Frozen in Hong Kong Disneyland. This tech isn’t just impressive — it marks a major shift toward characters that can interact more naturally with guests and environments.
To speed up the magic even more, Imagineers have also developed J.A.R.V.I.S, a next-gen tool trained on years of Imagineering knowledge to help teams design and innovate faster than ever. Between robotics, machine learning, and new simulation tools, the boundary between animation and reality is getting pretty frosty… in the best way.
The full episode is now live on the Walt Disney Imagineering YouTube channel, and it’s packed with behind-the-scenes looks at how this adorable snowman came to life.

Walt Disney Imagineering Debuts Next-Generation Robotic Character, Olaf Coming to Disneyland Parks
A groundbreaking moment in Disney Parks history took place today at Disneyland Paris, offering a glimpse into the future of character experiences. Bruce Vaughn, President and Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney Imagineering, joined Natacha Rafalski, Présidente of Disneyland Paris, to introduce a brand-new, next-generation robotic character: Olaf, the beloved snowman from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Frozen.
This debut marks a significant new chapter in Disney character innovation. It represents a leap forward where cutting-edge technology, storytelling, and collaboration converge to bring the screen to reality in ways never seen before.
Bringing Animation to Life From his distinctive waddle to his wide-eyed expressions, every gesture and detail of this new figure has been crafted to reflect the Olaf audiences know and love from the films. Imagineers focused on making him appear truly “alive” and curious.
One of the most impressive details lies in his texture. To recreate the magical, snow-like shimmer that Olaf has in the movies, the team utilized special iridescent fibers. These fibers catch the light exactly like fresh snow, making him one of the most expressive and true-to-life characters ever built by Imagineering.
A Collaboration of Art and Tech This innovation is deeply rooted in Disney’s legacy. Just as Walt Disney pioneered early hand-drawn films, today’s Imagineers are working hand-in-hand with the modern masters of animation.
To create this next-gen Olaf, Walt Disney Imagineering collaborated closely with the film’s original animators at Walt Disney Animation Studios. The goal was to ensure that every movement felt authentic to the character. As the team noted, this project wasn’t just about replicating the animation; it was about emulating the creators’ original intent, ensuring that the Olaf guests meet in the real world is the exact same personality they fell in love with on screen.
Coming Soon to Disney Parks. While unveiled at Disneyland Paris, this isn’t just a tech demo. Disney has confirmed that this next-generation Olaf will be making his debut at Disney parks soon, promising to bring a new level of immersion to Frozen-themed lands and experiences around the world.
